Although the hotel is a little away from the centre of Geneva, the ticket provided to guests for free use of the city's excellent public transport system proved extremely useful. The accommodation was of a high standard and staff were courteous and helpful.

very pleasent stay, only one problem we could not turn off radiator in bedroom completly so room got very warm. the air conditioning did not solve the problem. as we were only staying one night we did not bring this to the attention of the staff.

The rooms were the typical smaller European size, but were very nice, stylish and comfortable. For the price, the hotel should include the breakfast. Well appointed interior with the outside being a little "used", but the hotel was located in an older looking section of Geneva. The staff was very helpful and our stay was very satisfactory.

Considering normal Geneva prices for hotels, the NH Rex is a fair price value. However, the hotel does not deserve a 4-star ranking at all. The hotel rooms do not have a minibar and the room service and bar facilities are extremely limited. Coffee-making facilities only in superior rooms (I had a "Junior Suite" and there was no minibar and no coffee-making facilities, not even a bottle of mineral water). The staff at the reception is unfriendly and incompetent. When I departed, it took over 20 minutes to do the checkout, because the bill amount and the adress were wrong and the employee had no idea. When I complained about the bad service, the response was arrogant and unfriendly. There is a steep stairway to enter the hotel and nobody to help nor a ramp for trolley luggage. The only elevator does not accomodate more than three people and the stairways to the rooms are really narrow. The rooms are OK but furniture is old-fashioned and in bad need of a renovation. The bathroom is tiny and apart from a mini piece of soap there is no vanity set or whatsoever. The distance to the city-center is quite long to walk, I assume 20-30 minutes, but the area is OK, well connected with public transport and plenty of restaurants around, which is good because you don`t get food in the hotel apart from breakfast. I don't think I will return - high price and bad service.

A first class hotel, superb quality with excellent friendly staff. I thoroughly recommend it.

In general, the hotel is OK. It is close to the old town (5 min. walk to a tram stop and then 3 tram stops), the interior is fine, the location is quiet. What really dissapointed us was that at cehcking-in a receptionist did not tell me she would block some amount at my credit card as a guarantee for the hotel, nor did she say I could get a Geneva transport card - I recollected that possibility from Venere reviews the next day. The fact itself that they do provide such a card is certainly an advantage! Also, it is not convenient that the hotel does not have a restaurant, and breakfast is too expensive. It was raining heavily in Geneva those days, and there were no umbrellas in the hotel. In other respects, service was quite good. Furthermore, from the tourist point of view, Geneva is not the most interesting place to see in Switzerland...

Very nice and confortable hotel. Excellent location. Offers free travel on city public transportation. The only disagreable points were that A) bathroom was smelling, and B) I was charged heavily for phone calls made from my room by a pre-paid card.

The outstanding thing was the welcome and help given at Reception by the lady on duty- she could not have been more helpful or pleasant in answering my questions. Exactly the same comment applies to the male receptionist the following morning in answering my questions re parking and directions to the airport. A splendid hotel - and what I have become used to from NH Hotels.

Arrived at the Hotel and found that there was no parking reserved for us and that none was available. May have been my fault for not contacting the Hotel and making a specific request. Able to park outside on a meter but needed Swiss francs which fortunately the Charming and helpful receptionist was able to exchange Euro's and gave us a room upgrade for our trouble. Also provided us with Tram passes to get down to the center. Lovely large room with excellent en-suite although the road outside was a little noisy and we should of kept the shutter down but it was very hot and we don't like sleeping with the air-con on. Breakfast was very good but pricey, 54 euro's for two, but then everything is expensive in Geneve. 100 euro's at least to eat out by the lake. Excellent hotel but wouldn't stop off at Geneve again.

The rooms were spacious and luxurious. The receptionist was very accommodating. We booked the room for the wrong night and added one extra person. She gave us two very comfortable rooms despite our mistake. Off street parking was challenging in a residential neighborhood and decent restaurants were more than walking distance but we had a very memorable stay at the NH Rex and would highly recommend it to others.

Excellent value for Geneva. Air conditioning was very good and the staff were quite helpful. The location is slightly out of the way, but there are plenty of trams and buses into the central city running from the nearby Servette stop and a bus to the Palais des Nations from right outside the hotel. Would definitely stay there again.

Nice hotel with good-sized room and, especially,good-sized bathroom. Well located even though not in the centre of the city. Easy to reach via train from airport to Cornavin train station and then by tramway. Many trams will get you downtown with ease.

I will use this hotel next time I come to Geneva - an excellent hotel for me.
United Kingdom, Oct 2007
The staff are unhelpful and pretentious; the nicest person I spoke to at this hotel was the cleaner. In particular there is an older man and a younger woman (she didn't seem to care that our room key had been voided before we were due to check out) who don't know the meaning of customer service. If you can bear that, though, then it's a beautiful place to stay and it's in a very central location. The bar and breakfast are both a rip off, but there's a restaurant called Trigal just down the street that serves good coffee in the morning. The complimentary toiletries in the bathroom were rather convenient and smelled nice. Was a little surprised to discover a charge of 60chf as a “just in case” that would be returned upon checking out - be aware that there is also a “city tax” of around 7chf per person that isn’t returned. This hotel also gives transport tickets that can be used on all buses and trams within the central area - although you might have to ask – making sightseeing cheap and convenient (no confusion over the ticket machines). All in all, for what we paid this was a great place to stay.

Third time in Geneva, first time at the NH Rex. Staff was friendly and very effective. The room was quite comfortable. Very good value for the price. Also, 1 block to the bus going downtown. 10 feet from the bus going to the UN. Breakfast is good but very pricey. The hotel also reserves the cost of your room plus a %50 premium for extras (which turned out to be what we spent). The only issue I had was the rock hard bed. My wife, of course, loved it... The things we liked best were the location and the value for the price. We will definitely stay there again.

It is a very pleasant hotel. Standard rooms are relatively small but very nice. Comfy bed. Hotel staff was very nice and helpful. It is not centrally located but there is a bus a block away (#9) that takes you right into center (10 min ride). All guests of hotel get a card for free use of public transport. There is a nice pizzeria/cafe next to the hotel that serves decent food. We went there for late breakfast. If you come by car, there is no parking on the street but you can park your car at the central station garage. Overall, I would recomend this hotel.

What a great room! It was beautiful, spacious, and air conditioned, all of which were very rare during our stay in Europe. We only stayed one night (booked the hotel to be close to the airport for an early morning flight) and we hated to leave! We didn't get much chance to explore the area, but we did get a very good pizza from down the street, and the room was soooooooo pretty and comfortable.

We were very satisfied with our stay in this hotel, it was more than we expected - rooms were nice, quiet, staff was extremely helpful and nice. The only drawback could be 20 min. walking distance from the center, however, the public transport system is good and the bus stop is 5 min away from the hotel. Definitely we will stay in Rex again when returning to Geneva.

We were very happy with the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful and most spoke english. We feel this is excellent value for money, the hotel is gorgeous! Very nice and helpfull staff! They provided me with a free map of city, a free bus pass and a clear introduction to the city and sightseeings. I also was so lucky to get an upgrade to an even bigger room! The only necgative points are the location (quite far from ´old town´, but good connected by bus) and I experienced some noice (footsteps) from the room above me. Overall: very good hotel!

On spending an hour trying to find the hotel and trying to check in, we were advised they had no vacancy for us as they were advising two other lots of people. They said they booked us into one of their other hotels a couple of kilometers away and as we had no choice we went there only to discover it was in very nice hotel in a red light district. We were given an upgraded room, but could only stay there one night therefore had to go back to the previous hotel. A sympathetic receptionist took care of us and we were given a very nice room to make up for having to move twice when we really didn't want to.

I really enjoyed staying at the rex hotel. I found the staff informative and friendly during my stay. The staff seemed knowledgable with tourist information and provided a map of the area. It was a great hotel to end my vacation with, the rooms were very clean and comfortable. The location was a short walk to downtown Geneve or bus stop.

Great neighborhood, delicious restaraunt next door. Staff friendly but not very helpful. Very clean, but we tipped the maid service on arrival, and did not have drinking glasses, or tea bags, replenished. FYI If you're traveling w/wheelchair or stroller there are lots of steps up to the lobby; altogether a very nice hotel.

The hotel was absolutely wonderful and the hospitality was excellent. The accommodation is top of the range and quite spacious containing all usual facilities though breakfast and bar food is a bit pricey. There are a few local restaurants offering cheaper prices though the food is very expensive in Switzerland on the whole. The English language is well understood in this French orientated district of Geneva. Hotel is in easy reach of the local bus and train station though the airport will require a 15 to 20 minute taxi ride costing around 30CHF. The Red Cross museum and UN Building museum is well worth a visit though a visit to Montreux will make the perfect day especially at Christmas time.

Fantastic hotel. Public transportation is near (one of the central streets), the airport is 20 minutes away, the centre 10 minutes. The only downside is that the hotel has a very small parking lot and if one wishes to arrive by car, it should be communicated in advance. The personel is attentive, but has scarse information to offer to tourists about the city.

Only stayed for one night but was very impressed with the hotel. It has not long been refurbed. The decor/style is quite posh. We took breakfast in the hotel at extra cost (approx £10) as there was not a lot of facilities in the area and it was very good with a huge choice. The bar was quite pleasent for a late evening night cap - our only complaint about the hotel was that the barman just dissapeared just after 10pm. We were not sure whether the bar had closed or what! We were charged for 3 extra beers but reception just cleared it off the bill when we paid with no problem. We would definately stay here again.

Great hotel, but a little away from the main areas in the opposite direction from the station and shopping district. However, a bus ride just 3 stops from the station gets you there. It is 10 mins walk from the UN building, and a pleasant walk around the edge of the lake back to the main areas. Hotel room is certainly good value, however, we did not stay inhouse for breakfast. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Would not hesitate to recommend and stay there again. Thank you.

Everything is fine with the hotel except for one trap. I booked a room for 2 nights and paid a Deposit for 2 nights plus SF100.00. When I checked out before 12:00 noon next day after one night's stay, I was refused refund for the one night not stayed. Reason given by the hotel was that the booking was done online and I have to give 24 hours notice for any cancellation. I did not find such notice anywhere at the hotel reception nor were I informed of such condition when I checked in. My advise to all: book a few nights, but at check-in, pay deposit for only one night! In my many years of staying in hotels around the world, I have never encountered such unfair trade practice!

The reason I have given a fairly poor rating to the correspondence between web pages and actual property is that your description referred to private parking, but in fact there were so few parking spaces that we were not able to get one. This meant that we had to use parking meters which we had to pay for every 90 minutes during the daytime - it was a nuisance! The staff at the hotel were very competent and welcoming, and the quality of food at breakfast was very good. The bedroom was comfortable and the facilities were good.

Hi! From the first beginning we had problems with the hotel personnel regarding the pricing. We had with us the booking information send by Venere, but the hotel said that Venere didn´have correct information e.g. they said the breakfast does not include the price even if it was clearly said on Veneres web-pages. When we were leaving they said that we must pay some extra tax (something Geneve canton tax?), which was not mentioned on Verene´s web-pages. We didn´t pay anything extra, only the amount, which was said on Verene´s booking confirmation. The quarrel regarding the pricing made our staying not that comfortable. However, we liked the hotel itself lot of - rooms were very comfortable and well-equipted. One thing more: it was said on Venere´s web-pages that the DinersClub credit card is accepted in the hotel. It was not and we were disappointed. With regards Pentti Mykkänen
