We stayed in Geneva for one night(15.07.2011) and it was a very comfortable stay in the Capitole. The reception we received was great. The lady at the desk was very polite and helpful. The rooms were very nice and better than we expected. The hotel is close to a Red Light area if someone is sensitive about such things, but the street with the hotel has no issues. It's a stones throw from the Lake and the Train Station, which makes it a very good location. One down side is the bathroom in my room was very small, but well made and clean as were both our rooms. The hotel is also very close to some good restaurants and shopping areas. One complaint I have is the hotel committed free Wifi and there was a network in the hotel, but after repeated tries and requests it did not work. Over all we are quite satisfied with the Hotel and will go back and recommend it.

Had to book a last minute hotel in Geneva that is close to the train station. The location is unbeatable but the hotel really could do much more in terms of renovating. The lift was incredible old, and the hall lights turn off if you don't move for 5 secs. The water heater broke down on the 2nd night and even though the receptionist was really sorry, there was nothing they could do, not even provide me a bucket so I can boil hot water and shower with that. The hotel is also the first to NOT provide any toothbrush/paste in all the hotels I've stayed in, which i think in most cases should be the 2nd most important next to soap/shampoo. The toilet flooded on the third night. However I was shifted to a superior room as compensation, so i am not complaining about that, it was a nice gesture. They really should just close off the unrenovated rooms though or offer them at a much lower price because they are half as luxurious as the double superior rooms that is just 20 CHF more. Venere should have also just let people know about the VAST difference.

OK, though perhaps not on the most silent street in the evening.

The Hotel Capitole was a quaint compact Swiss Hotel with a bit of local flavor. The breakfast buffet was located in the adjoining restaurant & was appetizing & easy to consume. The room was cosy but the bedroom door was not self closing, & needed to be locked to close it properly. A rating of 8 from me.

This hotel was TERRIBLE and i would NEVER return. the weather was hot and the room had no air conditioning (just a very noisy ineffective old fan). the location was so noisy that we could not open the window, and therefore we got little or no sleep. the hotel is in the middle of the red light district so at night there were many sex workers on the streets offering their services. our shower did not work properly and the shower hose was partially broken. the entrance to the hotel and lobby looked terrible. the lift was small and dirty!

It's amazing that one can find such a poor property in a city like Geneve. It was one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in during 30+ visits to Europe. The girl at the reception charged my credit card again at check-out even though the amount for the stay was already reserved. I asked to call Visa and cancel the transaction, and the manager who appeared began to scream! The room smelled. Bathroom was tiny and really loud when you had to flush the toilet or just wash your hands. Well, yes, you have free i-net in the lobby and free apples at the reception. If you want to enjoy these things in the atmosphere of worn-out motel , then it might be your choice. Breakfast is ok, but is served in so called "LA cafe" - looks like it was built like 40 years ago. In general, it was a bad choice for me.

This hotel room had a lovely modern clean bathroom but everything else could be improved. Our room was dark, dusty and sticky, some furniture was broken and all was old and uncared for. Staff indifferent almost to the point of rudeness. It was noisy. Its closeness to Cornavin station influenced our choice.

The hotel was under renovation. The service was very basic, but the price is reasonable for Geneva, the room was clean, and the availability of a free Wi-Fi fast internet connection is a great plus. The location is very convenient to the train station and the city centre, if you are not disturbed by the close red light area. No fancyness, but highly recommendable for a fast business trip.

Friendly and helpful staff. Hotel was under construction so the noise in the morning was a bit disruptive. Inadequate lighting in the room, but it was spacious with a great bathroom. Breakfast was good.

I have not given this small friendly hotel the marks that it really deserves as it is currently under refurbishment. The rooms which have been done were excellent and I have every confidence that the others will be the same. The staff were very helpful. It is situated in a "lively" part of Geneva where there are a variety of eating places. The breakfast was excellent and I would certainly stay there again.

The gentleman that worked our check-in was the best! We had arrived early and he took our bags so that they could hold them and we could walk around the city. We got back at the appropriate check-in time and he already brought our bags up to our room!! We had several cumbersome baggages, so that was very thoughtful of him. They were also in the process of renovating, so it was nice to know that he was considerate of our long travel day and not having to cart our stuff up the tiny elevator.

People were very nice. The place was undergoing renovation so it was a bit messy in the lobby. Since the dollar is so weak, it's hard to judge the value.

Hotel needs a serious overall face lifting, but room was clean. It is an old charming 1900 house with excellent location, but a bit noisy due to its old windows. It is close to the red light district and we took it because it was available and we nedded a place to sleep for the Fetes de Geneve. A friendly place to sleep; dont expect anything else and you are ok. The price is justified by its location.

This is a terrible hotel. The rooms were extremely stinky and the bathrooms were too small. Even the people at the reception were not helpful. The food items offered in the breakfast are poor both in terms of quality and selection. I would strongly advise not going to this hotel.

From the time we arrived up until we were checking out the staff was very nice, helpful and accomodating. The free breakfast was far better and bigger than any I have ever had in the USA and was well worth every penny spent on the room. The room I stayed in was very clean and accomodating as well and the bathroom was also super nice and very inviting. I would without a doubt stay here again next time I am in Amsterdam. It is conveniently located on the tram line and it does not take long to get to museums, restaurants and shopping.

Good for a short stay. Very convenient to transport, including the train to the airport and the UN headquarters. Easy walk to most other main sights and the lake. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar attached to the hotel is very lively and funky. The hotel is on the better side of Rue de Alpes (western side). I had no worries with the area or my personal security. The only negative comment was the room was not very soundproof, with a fair amount of noise coming in from the street and next door. On the whole, great for a short stay.

Great location near central Geneva and loads of restaurants and eateries in nearby area. The manager/receptionist is very helpful &keeps the place clean. The beds are the best I have seen in a budget hotel complete with duvets and sheets. Bit noisy bcoz of red light areas nearby. Laptops and wifi are all available free. This is not a first class hotel, but a great place to recharge the batteries after enjoying the lakes n sights of Geneva (or partying in local bars - red light areas and cheeks...... bargain) Fully recommended from this Nepalese!

Pleasant ambiance w/very helpful multi-lingual employees; excellent breakfast buffet. Good location for walking guests. There are several rooms up very narrow stairs beyond the elevator service, so clarify your room request.Because the hotel shares doors w/ bar, some smoke seeps into lobby.Good choice for price.

Good location near the train station. Room was larger than in many small hotels, but still not ample. Cute decor in breakfast room and a good, if not great, breakfast buffet. Lobby is a bit bleak, but the desk clerk was friendly and helpful. Adequate for short stays.

The hotel is very conveniently located in central Geneva, less than 5 minutes walk from the lake and adjacent to numerous bars, restaurants, shops and other facilities (as well as having a lively bar of its own). It is also less than 5 minutes walk from Cornavin Station, which was extremely useful as I was travelling by train to and from the Airport. The hotel staff were all extremely helpful and fluent in English. One even advised me that the train to the Airport from Cornavin was a cheaper and quicker option than the minibus which operates from the hotel. All in all, a very good hotel, particularly in terms of its location and reasonable price, which I would certainly intend to stay in if I'm in Geneva again.

Very good location for city centre and rail station. Very hot when we stayed and no air conditioning - also very noisy street with window open. Good but basic facilities. Big drawback : no tea/coffee making facilities in room! Staff friendly and very helpful. Beware hotel e.mails - the one they sent to us had a virus accompanying it!! Also venere.com did not respond to request for advice on this point!

This was our first time to Geneva. The room was nice but would have been great to have air conditioning! We also were kept awake by the music below in the bar. Free internet was a plus. Would stay again. Location was close to the train station which helped. Friendly staff.

Staff are really friendly and I will not have a second thought of coming back to the same accomodation if given a chance. Its location is great and accessible to everything to shops train station and bus stops and because it is walking distance to the lake it gives you a relaxing and enough time of knowing the place without the hazard of getting lost while trying to explore some other beautiful spots of geneva. Well done and keep up the good work!!!
