Hotel Castello di Spaltenna - Gaiole in Chianti

We spent here some great days and had a very pleasant and relaxing experience. Staff extremely kind and welcoming, the hotel (an old castle) is really well operated and almost flawless.

My wife and I paid a return visit to this hotel as we enjoyed the ambience so much last year. We were not disappointed. The hotel is not cheap but provides reasonably good value for money in what is a luxury hotel in beautiful surroundings of the Chianti countryside.

My Wife and I spent 2 weeks in Castello di Spaltenna. This hotel lived up to all expectations. The staff were excellent. Not only were they extemely good, they were also real good fun. The hotel is located ontop of a hill with beautiful views down a valley of vine yards. House keeping was excellent. Breakfast was not the biggest selection I have seen in a 5 star hotel, but the quality of the fare was excellent. The Gym was small but purposeful (4 cardio machines and 4 weight machines). The complimentary pool side drinks were a nice touch. If I had to pick one negative, it would be that eating in the hotel was quite expensive. While I expected this during the main evening meals, I would have appreciated a less expensive lunch menu (20 euro for a Club sandwich !). Thankfully a top quality lunch could be accquired for a fraction of the price down the hill in Gaiole. All in All, a wonderful hotel , a wonderful stay , in a beautiful part of the world.

I would highly recommend Castello di Spaltenna for its fantastic location and breathtaking architectural style, as well as for the delicious breakfast, lovely grounds in which to wander, indoor and outdoor pools, helpful and efficient staff and cosy bedrooms. Our only regret? That we had just one night to spend there.
