Hotel in ottima posizione, tra spiaggia, promontorio e città. Bel balcone vista mare. Colazione eccellente con brioche appena sfornate. Letti confortevoli e puliti. Forse un pò caro ma ne vale la pena.

Thirty years ago I was stationed on a ship homeported in Gaeta. We stayed in the Serapo for a month, while waiting for our apartment to become available. We went back as civilians to stay there again and had a great stay. The room was super, with a great view and the people were very helpful and welcoming. We stayed in six different places during our three weeks in Italy and the Serapo was my favorite.

As frequent travelers, this was unfortunately one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in! We were actually scheduled to stay 2 nights and couldn't get up early enough our first morning there to pack up and leave for another hotel! The hotel was recommended to us so we expected much more. We were scheduled to stay in Gaeta for the last 2 nights of our 12+ day honeymoon and were sadly disappointed. The only good thing about this hotel is the location which cannot get any better being on the corner of a beautiful beach. We arrived later in the day and were "greeted" by a "gentleman" at the front desk who basically handed us our key and told us our room #...no explaination of breakfast, surrounding area, etc. Our room was worse than any dorm room on moving day...it was VERY old and I don't think there have been any renovations since 1980. It was very small, the bed was hard as a rock and the bathroom was gross...there was no shower curtains so the floor flooded when you showered thus the brown/stained ceiling tiles! The towels were rougher than sandpaper and we were also blessed with rusty water at the end of our shower! We did not sleep due to a car full of teenagers blaring their car radio until about 3am singing songs in Italian! Breakfast offered nothing but cereal, bread & perhaps a croissant. Too bad they can't invest a few $$ into renovations given their location - Guess you get what you pay for!

I would really recommend this hotel for a quiet relaxing holiday. Very good value for money. In general the staff were lovely and helpful. There is always one that is not so helpful. The food was very basic so I would recommend to eat elsewhere.

This was about the fifth or sixth time that I have stayed in this hotel and I would certainly stay there again and would recommend it to others. The surroundings are excellent; the beachfront location and private beach could not be better. Rooms are very clean, reasonably spacious and comfortable. My only criticisim is in the lack of friendliness of many of the staff; as a repeat guest I would expect some level of recognition - even if only a smile and a 'welcome back' comment but there are only a couple of staff who give any indication of recognition at all. I particularly like the variety of the town of Gaeta itself with its medieval quarter, the quaint old town and the modern beach resort (where the Serapo is located). There are several excellent and very good value restaurants / trattorias - in particular Il Ritrovo; La Rete, La Cianciola and La Lampara. The town is also a good base for exploring the surrounding attractions of the region and is close enough to Rome and Naples for easy day -trips by train (from Formia). Not a detsination for those seeking a wild nightlife, but for an easy relaxing break it is hard to beat.

i had a great stay at the hotel. most of the staff was very nice and helpful. some of the staff weren't so friendly. breakfast doesn't start until 8:00 and i am up early so that was a slight disappointment. the hotel is fine for someone like me who would rather be out exploring and not spending too much time indoors. the beach is beautiful as is the rest of gaeta. i would stay here again.

The room and hotel was very pleasant with a good breakfast. However, 2 hours after leaving we discovered our passports had not been given back to us so had to return - this added 4 hours of driving to our day! We spent 6 weeks travelling in southern Italy and this was our most expensive accommodation besides Rome and Capri; compared to all our other accommodation, this hotel was expensive in relationship between price/quality.

The hotel is aimed at families, who seem to form the bulk of the guests. It's locate about 15mins walk from the new town of Gaeta, not the historic old town, which is a much further walk. The hotel rooms are quite dated (70s), and the corridors reminded us of a hospital. The breakfast was mediocre. The view of the beach from the hotel room was the only plus... though the hotel charge for using the sun loungers and close the beach off at night.

There was nothing special at this hotel. Room was basic. The public areas were sparce as far as furnishings and the staff was not to friendly. It did have a great beach though.

The Hotel is situated near the sea (however, no warning that guests are paying separately for the Hotel's beach (87 euros for 5 days and the right to use 2 chairs and an umbrella). The staff in the hotel speaks very poor English and it is very unwelcoming. Furthermore, you have to ask every detail (no information is provided upon arrival - you are the one who asks about the breakfast and the beach, and everything else you want to know). The breakfast is of low quality (coffee is awful). The furniture in the rooms is old and very simple. One word about the towels - awful. The board or half-board is extremely expensive. Better to eat somewhere else (especially taking into account that there are a lot of inexpensive places to eat in the town itself). The place is designed for Italians - there are very few foreigners. I would not stay there again.

The hotel is a bit dreary, probably not redecorated since the 70's, but it has a great location on the beach. And that's why we go back to this hotel. It's only a 1 hour train ride away from Rome.

The room given was fairly large and the breakfast was one of the better one's that I had during my stay in Italy. Unfortunately the bathroom door was broken which was slightly inconvenient and I asked for separate twin beds, only to find that we were given one double and one single bed (which seemed a bit odd). All in all a pleasant stay for the one night we passed through Gaeta!

We stayed at Serapo the second week of July 2005 and liked the hotel. The staff was accommodating, friendly, and very helpful. (Even helped to find a chiroprator.) The hotel was clean and efficiently run. Private parking was included. There were no surprises upon arrival. We worried about the number of families with childen but we had a quiet room and no hassles. I don't know if it was luck but we had a great sea view from our balcony. Breakfasts were a bit of a letdown, though. Simple continental; nothing special although the staff was attentive and pleasant. We tried dinner but the language barrier was very high. Our order and requests were misunderstood. But the locals recommended the food there. There is very good food (mostly seafood) to be had in several restaurants in the area. We've traveled to Italy beaches before so the extra beach bed and umbrella costs charged were not a surprise. €14 per day for two beds and umbrella. You can find cheaper nearby but no guarantee of as good maintenance or access to showers or clean toilets. The beach was great. The water clear but not a great place to snorkel as there aren't many fish. Overall, we enjoyed the Serapo and would recommend it. It's a three star facility that's well kept and staffed.

We were very disppointed with this hotel, checking out after just one night, although we had booked for 7 nights. The room was in very poor shape and required a complete upgrade - the bathroom was awful with broken/missing tiles, a tiny shower which you turned on outside the shower and a shower curtain which stuck to you - not pleasant! We would not recommend this hotel - it is way below a 3 star standard.

Asked for a top floor room when booking but informed that one wouldn't be available, so delighted when we were allocated a room on the top floor with an enormouse balcony overlooking the beach! An enjoyable stay. The only down side was confusion over the private beach, and the fact that we couldn't just use towels on the private beach, but would have had to hire recliners and sunshade to stay there - we went on the public beach instead! I think this is a slight criticism of Italian beach methods in general and not particularly specific to this hotel. All in all, a very enjoyable stay and would recommend the hotel.

Me and my new husband we're on our honey moon and we didn't enjoy our stay very much. Our room which was nice and had two balconies had a bad ant problem, they were everywhere. The front desk people weren't helpful and not very friendly towards english speaking people. Although the meal we had was good it was a buffet and when we got the menu there were no prices on it to go by so when we got the bill needless to say we were very surprised. When we finished our meal we were finishing our wine with another couple and they turned the lights out on us. When we got our beach pass we expected towels but they informed us they didn't have towels and we couldn't bring the ones from the room. We were told we could buy towels at the beach and they were 15 euro and not very nice. We enjoyed our time on the beach although it was crowded, only to get a 48 euro charge to be on the beach!!!!! I was very upset to find out when we were checking out that without anyone telling us that we were being charged 16 euro a day to use their chairs and umbrellas. There was no mention of it anywhere not in our reservation, or when we checked in and there weren't any signs on the beach. I argued this point with the lady at the desk and she rudely told me none of this mattered we still had to pay. Well we paid but I wouldn't advise anyone to stay there you were definitelynot worth the money we paid.

Although we only used this hotel as a one day stopover on our journey south I would recommend it for a full holiday. It is situated right on the beach and from our room which was large, clean and with balcony we had a great coastal view. There was a very reasonable buffet breakfast, with alfresco seating if you preferred. The very picturesque old town of Gaeta was only a fifteen minute stroll away and had pretty restaurants by the harbour.

i got 2 beds pushed together as i ordered a double bed!!! the manager was quite rude when i went to ask about this. no satisfaction whatsoever. a lounger on the beach was €4extra as was a chair and an umbrella to lie under was €7.none of this was on their web page. the swimming pool was tiny, and both indoor and outdoor pools were closed on sunday for some reason. the outdoor pool had regular fitness classes and so closed off to everyone else. also, it was full of old people!!-everywhere! and the breakfast was poor, and the beaches crowded when i was there July 3rd.

The female staff at this hotel were incredibly rude, had a poor command of English and were very unwilling to be of any assistance. The hotel has a tired look, and although clean, it looks to be in need of room renovations. The breakfast was poor - packaged buns, etc. and were not replenished. The staff here was less than enthusiastic or helpful. I would not recommend this hotel to unseasoned travellers.

We had stayed at Serapo 37 years ago. There is much expansion but we were quartered in the same old section as 37 years ago. They have done great work in keeping up this old facility. we did not use the new section except for lunch which was excellent!

the location of the room was great. at the end of the buliding on the 3rd floor, with a wonderful view of the ocean. the room walls were paper thin. so the noise could be very distracting. overall, we have not much to complain about. the room service was very good and the staff very efficient. the only thing i suggest to future travelers staying at the serapo, is to find out if there will be a wedding or some sort of function going on during their time of stay. for the noise could keep you up when your not up for it! thank-you.

Having visited this hotel twice, there is a significant change in atmosphere between seasons. Our first visit was in late May, and the hotel offered full facilities and had a very friendy 'buzz'. Our most recent visit was 'off' season in October. On arrival we were told the hotel was closed! In truth, the hotel was open and offering rooms and a limited breakfast, but not much else. Beware - although many mediterranean resorts are still quite busy in October - especially during school holidays, this resort, and in particular the Serapo hotel, are VERY sleepy. At the right time, this hotel offers a great location (right on a fantastic beach) and good facilities - but although it's open all year round, it is best visited May - September.

Pleae see comments/complaints in separate email to your company. You advertised a pool and there was none available for us to use - they had it booked full with lessons and swim teams locally. They took our passports and did not return them such that we missed our flight and had to stay another night for which they then charged us! Area was empty, restaurant was barely functional, bar was not open for late drink once children were in bed. STaff did not offer any help or show interest in our stay.

The Serapo was lovely. The common areas were spacious and the available internet access was a wonderful bonus. We wish the indoor pool had been available for extended hours. Since it is rented to outside swim clubs the hotel patrons are allowed to use it for only 1 hour per day between 7 and 8 pm and not at all on a Sunday.

Hotel Serapo lived up to all expectations.Service in the restaurant was particularly good. The only fault if you could call it that, was that no there was no information regarding taxi or transport services, other than public transport, on display at recepion. As we required a taxi to collect my daughter fron Formia at 1.30am we assumed one would be available locally, this proved not to be the case.Taxis must be prebooked before 10pm.However the staff were very helpful when they realised our plight, and after phonecalls to Formia train station, a taxi came to Gaeta to pick us up, bring us to meet my daughter, and return us to the hotel.
