we had an excellent holiday .The hotel is expensive and does not have a clearly defined direct access to the sea front .We also had power cuts to the room and were trapped in lift WITH NO EMERGENCY LIGHTING .Very disconserting ESPECIALY AT NEARLY 5 STAR RATES !

Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the Porto Mare. Although we had booked a room in the Porto Mare hotel, as they were full, they gave us a room in the adjoining Residence, which worked out great since we have a young son and the flexibility of having a kitchen came in very handy. We were also initially charged more than quoted by venere.com, but when brought to the management's attention after our stay, they refunded the difference immediately. The pools were wonderful and there was a variety of things to do for young kids, which made our stay very pleasant. The staff was very nice and the grounds were beautiful. We would definitely stay there again if we return to Madeira.
How to reach Hotel Porto Mare
By airplane
There are a lot of connections from Funchal to all the main cities in Europe. We advise all our guest to take a taxi from the airport of Funchal to get to the hotel, which is about 6.5 km away; however, if you prefer to rent a car, you can take the Via Rapida in direction Sao Martinho (on the left), then take the second road on the left, drive towards Funchal and turn left direction Lido. The hotel is about 50 meters from the Lido pools.

Venere.com does not debit your credit card for your reservations. You will be asked to insert your credit card details which will be sent to the property only as a guarantee of the reservation. The bill will then have to be settled directly at the hotel. In case your chosen hotel needs a deposit, this information will be included in the "Cancellation policy" section and the deposit will have to be settled directly with the pre-selected property. It is not possible to cancel your reservation if you selected and booked a room indicated as "PREPAID/NOT REFUNDABLE". In this case, the total amount of your stay will be charged to your credit card by the hotel at the time of booking.

Check-in: the rooms are available from midday. Check-in is possible at any time after that.
Check-out: it is necessary to leave the rooms not later than midday.
