All staff were excellent, very efficient, friendly, helpful and welcoming. We asked for a quiet room with a cot as we have an 18 month old baby and they gave us room 508 which was bigger than the others, had a sea view and quiet, so we were happy. Overall, the hotel is dated but everything works and it is good value for money.

Good basic hotel in an ideal spot (near the Lido) for getting into and around Funchal. Facilities were adequate and good value for money. Unexpectedly breakfast was included in the 58€ per night cost of a double room. Bathrooms were in need of some repair and renovation but were acceptable.

Good selection for breakfast. Numerous good eateries immediately adjacent to hotel. The piaaz restaurant is particularly good value and they are very welcoming. Hotel is now rather 'tired' but generally clean allowing for the normal minor problems of any well-used 70's style hotel. The night desk-clerk, John, is a treasure and could not be more helpful. Gorgulho management take note...you can not afford to lose that man!
