good sized room, breakfast was suitable, access to all day coffee in the lobby is great, we had a comfortable stay. Great being so close to the rail station when transiting Frankfurt

We were there for 1 night just so that we could take the train to the airport the next day. Monopol was ideal for the purpose. Hotel staff were on the look-out for us and we had no problem, even though we arrived att close to 10 pm. And lugging our bags to the hotel was a breeze as it was just across the road from the train station. We were warned hotel was in a red-light area but did not get to see any action. The only problem is that the hotel has no air-conditioning. It was OK when we were there as it was very cold that night. I was just wondering what it would be like at the height of summer. Room was noisy once the double-glazed windows were opened.

We arrived at 1.15am and it was not a problem. The free mini bar was a godsend and the breakfast was marvelous. Perfect for our one night stay.

This hotel is in front of Main station. But the room is very quiet. And Services are enough and very good. So when I stay in Frankfurt am Main, I always select this hotel.

We loved this older hotel that has been sensibly modernised. Large room with en suite and all facilities..TV, Fridge, Tea/coffee, dressing table plus 2 chairs and table. Breakfast served in the dining room is the best Continental we have ever had in Europe or elsewhere.Next to the train station was perfect for us and is in easy walking distance from main tourist areas and the Mainz river.

Very nice hotel, close to the train station with a taxi stop just in front of the hotel. Internet is free, the breakfast was the best of our trip and the minibar is free! The only minor problem was that they don't have air conditioning, but they give you a fan (it was allright). I strongly recommend this hotel to anyone.

As advertised - it's right across the street from the rail station. We took the train from the airport to the station and it's only three stops away (15 minutes). Not a bad area, and pretty quiet at night on the street. We had a 4th floor room in the back that looked out into a courtyard area around which the hotel rooms were grouped. Unfortunately, without air conditioning (none offered) we had to keep the window open and we were listening to the TV from next door for quite a while in the evening. The room was large for European standards, clean and neat. The bathroom was also clean and roomy. The front desk was helpful, and directed us to a wonderful restaurant for dinner on Baseler Strasse. The location allows for an easy walk to central shopping and sights. It's only four blocks to the Main river and the lovely pedestrian walk that runs along it. For a nice room at a good price (we paid 74 Euros) that's as convenient to the train as possible, this is your place.

Excellent choice if you are staying in the Frankfurt area. Especially if you have an early train or flight. The hotel is right across the road from the train station and the airport is only 11 minutes away by S8/9 trains. The hotel free minibar is a great welcome. I can't fault this hotel. the value for money is unsurpassed in Frankfurt.

Wonderful staff and handy location to the railway station if you are passing through. Free minibar, phone calls and other extras make this a real bargain. We would definitely stay there again.

The added amenities such as free internet access, coffee and food all day in the lobby, good breakfast and English newspaper were greatly appreciated. The location was excellent being next to the train station yet in a quiet section.

The hotel is right across the street from the main train station which is very convenient. The room was large and quiet. There was a well stocked mini-bar which was free. It had two bottles of OJ, two waters, two bottles of pepsi, and two beers. There may have been two other beverages as well. There was a large selection and variety of foods for breakfast. You won't leave hungry. The staff was very helpful. The lobby was spacious and provide a high degree of comfort to relax. I would definitely stay here again if I was ever in Frankfurt because of the convenience and comfort that Monopol provided.

This is an old hotel, but basically kept up very well. The major advantage of this hotel is that it is within an easy one block walk from the train station and then a reasonable walk into the main area of Frankfurt. There were not problems and can comfortably recommend this based on the price and location.

Hotel employees are generally nice and accomodating but the hotel "feels" old. They can improve also improve the carpet. I'm impressed by the free bar offered in the room plus its proximity to the main train station.

I was delighted with my night at the Hotel Monopol in Frankfurt, it was an excellent combination of reasonable price, great location (across street from main train station), clean room, excellent breakfast and great desk staff. This is an old hotel, much painted over and repaired, but quite clean and well managed. Plus they have a bowl of tasty free apples in the lobby! I paid 69 Euro for my room. Really just looking for a place to sleep before board transatlantic flight while on a business trip. Very easy and cheap access to airport by S-Bahn, by the way.

Nice and big room, great location, right across from the train station. The area is a bit seedy, but very central. Hotel rooms were a bit aged, but overall good value for money.

I learned on this trip that the price quoted is the average over the period stayed. We cut our stay short and ended up paying 30% more per night than what was reserved -- NOT HAPPY. The hotel was nice and the employees were friendly.

Very nice hotel directly across the street from the Hauptbahnhof. We stayed in late November (Thanksgiving week), so Frankfurt was COLD. The front desk sent an additional electric radiator as soon as we checked in to be sure we'd be warm enough, but I sent it back because there are two radiators in the room and one in the bathroom. We were appropriately warm without the additional heater. Breakfast was nice and included in the room price. Our room rate was 79 Euros, which was a steal for the huge room we got. The bathroom is very large and modern. Biggest complaint: there's no hot water in the morning. We took a wonderful hot shower around noon local time the day we checked in, but the water was ice-cold the next morning. I'm guessing small-capacity water heater. If I'd known, I'd have showered before bed and just wet my hair the next morning. Hair dryer in bathroom fairly low-wattage but adequate for my purposes. It's a luxury to have a hair dryer at all in European hotels from our experience. Overall a very good experience. I would probably rate it lower, though, if we'd paid more money for the room just because of the hot water issue.

It is great place to stay for one night. We had a train to catch early the next day and the hotel is just across the road from the train station. The hotel does a great breakfast. My only complaint is that the walls are very thin and you hear everything in the next room and hallway. Rooms (including bathrooms) are big by European standards.

The hotel was very easy to find with a large sign in the hauptbanhof showing which exit to use. We were early and the staff was excellent at accomodating us with a room in a short amount of time. The room was spacious and there was a computer in the lounge with access to three more computers in the neighboring hotel. An excellent choice!

What a great place to stay overnight while flying from Italy to Chicago! It was close to the train station, clean, quiet, spacious, with a wonderful breakfast buffet and lots of free amenities -- internet access, free minibar, snack table in the afternoon, etc. Close enough to the shopping and restaurant areas to walk comfortably. Overall, much better than I expected for being close to the station and the red-light district!

Wonderful place, would not hesitate to stay there again. Room was basic but adequate, a little worn if I were to be picky, but not enough to matter. Bathroom, however, was very modern. Location was excellent and red light district was easy to avoid, so area felt very safe indeed. The free mini bar was a wonderful treat.

Older style, elegant but now slightly faded hotel opposite train station. Rooms very clean and quiet and the free minibar with beer & water is a nice touch. However location, whilst very handy for station, is not nicest part of Frankfurt- as a single female business traveller, I found myself resorting to eating in the hotel, which whilst acceptable, was dull- also the restaurant is part of the foyet/reception area so not much atmosphere! Overall, I would stay again for a night if I needed to be near the train station but would not stay for a longer period.

The breakfast buffet was really great. Being across from the train station was the best location. WE stayed for two days, then toured around for 2 weeks and came back for one night before we went home and the front desk staff rememberd us, maybe because we were a group of eleven noisy Canadians. Thanks for the great service.

Our bath water came out yellow and filled our tub with rust. When we brought this up to the staff they sent a lady up who turned on all the water in the bathroom and then left. When she didn't return an hour later we called down to let them know that the water was finally clear. After cleaning out the tub and starting the water back up again it came out yellow again! I went downstairs to let them know and they asked me "what they should do about it" I asked for another room so that I could shower and they treated me as if my request was totally unreasonable. Plus, the area around the hotel is dirty. Next time in frankfurt, if there will be a next time, I am staying somewhere else.

I loved the location because it was important to be near the train station, this was perfect. I stayed 2 nights in one room and 1 night a week later in another room and both were very comfortable and quiet as requested. The only problem was not being able to connect to internet using the telephone in the rooms.
