Hotel Maingau - Frankfurt

Hotel in a pleasant, treed area with easy, on-foot access over the river to the old town and to places of interest. A very comfortable place to begin our three weeks German holiday.

Clean rooms, good beds, friendly staff and tasty breakfast. One negative aspect ;-( is that we've been driving around for over 30 minutes to find parking space in this area. Finally we were able to park our car in a street at a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Other than that this is a fine hotel.

Our second visit to Frankfurt and the Hotel Maingau this year was as enjoyable as the first. Ideal location for the Altstadt and also the museums and art galleries on the Sachsenhausen side of the river. We would certainly stay at the Maingau again and have recommended it to friends.

A clean no frills hotel located a short walk to old Frankfurt and the shopping district. Be prepared for noisy kids playing in the park across the street during the day and pub revellers at all hours of night.

This was a nice, quiet hotel. However, my husband and I would not return. The breakfast was disappointing. The location was not that great. I would prefer to stay near the financial center next time. Tip: if you have a choice, stay on the weekend, the hotel rates are much lower.

A nice hotel for the price and within walking distance of the river.

Good value for money. Well located for walking over the footbridge to the old town ( Romer) and shops. Reception area is a little cramped and lack of air conditioning in the bedrooms was a drawback in the recent heatwave. The Schiffer Cafe a few yards from the hotel is very friendly with good food and well worth a visit. You can get a panoramic view over Frankfurt from the roof terrace/cafe of the Zeil Galerie in the main shopping area. Local transport by S-Bahn and U-Bahn is reasonably priced and efficient. Frankfurt is a good destination for a 2/3 night break and we would certainly stay at the Maingau again.

I had an excellent stay at Maingau .... the staff were extremely helpful, the room was clean and spacious and the breakfasts were wonderful!

Good! within 10min to city center or museum.

Good loation,a 5 minute walk to cross the river Main,but: the free parking on Venere.com was in fact: your car may be parked in the street(under friendly scrutiny of hotel staff). the bathroom should have some upgrade, at least for the cleaning.

I used to live in the area years ago, so I remembered the name of the hotel ans wasn´t disappointed at all.

Maingau is a good choice. The area that the hotel is in is nice and close to restaurants. The room was very clean and comfortable. The only downside was that during warm months, the room can get hot. However, since most European hotels do not have air-conditioning, this is expected and not a huge problem. We stayed here after flying into the Frankfurt airport and at the end of the trip before flying home via Frankfurt. The taxi trip from Maingau to the train station is about 7 euros and the taxi trip from the Maingau to the airport is around 20/25 euros.

A reasonable hotel, across from a nice park, and a mere three blocks from many dinning options!

The only negative i would have is that some of the staff smoke in the lobby / reception area, something i was not used to coming from the US.
