This hotel is in a great location. You can walk to everything. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. We were a family of four in a quad room. The room is spaceous. I was under the impression that we would have two roll away beds added to the room. Instead there is a foldout bed that can double as a couch upon arrival. One side of the foldout bed was not as comfortable to sleep on as we would have liked. Other than that....I would highly recommend this hotel.

Maybe venere should look into this. when an establishement would say individually controlled aircondiioning. it means even during winter. if i want aircondioning. i should be able to get it. the issue is not about temperature. it is about close windows, no air, less noise or open windows and noise from outside. in this case. it was 3 nights of sleepless nights due to noise and mosquito bites for me and my family just because of not setting clear definition of terms. i chose my establishment base on individually controlled airconditioning and car park.

Poor breakfast buffet. Go early - if they run out there is no breakfast available. Also, service at breakfast is poor. Not overly friendly. Other than the breakfast - the room was large and the the location was perfect.

Excellent location near Piazza della Republicca. Rooms were large and clean. Satellite TV was good. Street noise went on till 5:00 a.m. on the weekend nights made it difficult to sleep. On Sunday night, the streets were quiet. Breakfast was varied and good. Nice breakfast room. Many steps to get to the upper floors. Elevator was helpful. Construction and scaffolding when we were there in March 2007 detracted from the attractiveness of the place. Good chinese restaurant next door, very popular with tour groups.

On arrival we where given a double room with an addition of a folding bed,we couldn't even move nor open our lugage. When i complained they admitted and guaranted us they would change our room the next day, even tough we had paid muuch more for the first night then for the other nights. The hygeine of bathrooms with the luxury of hydro bath where exelent, especialy after a day walking in the streets of Florence. The hotel is very very very central to all places of interests in just few minutes by walk.

The hotel was clean and (some of) the staff were friendly. Our major complaint was the breakfast - not really up to the standard of a 4 star hotel! The hotel ran out of ham, there were flies in the orange juice, the 'restaurant' was a cramped space next to reception and the waitress was rude and grumpy! Good location for everything though and rooms were quiet and comfortable.

I heard the sound of cars and the voice of people outside the window in the midnight. So I think that this hotel need to cover the window tightly.

Location is excellent, it's really compensating for everything else. The room looked very nice even if it was incredibly small! Pretty little space for clothes too. Bathroom was really fine. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet had very little to offer though and quality was not so great either.

This hotel was fantastic. Except two things. Massive construction going on outside of the hotel. Clearly not the responsiblity of the hotel, but it was so loud and started so early in the morning. And room #12 is right next to the kitchen. You can hear all the breakfast preparations. The room was fantastic, spacious, jacuzi tub was wonderful. Heated towel racks.

The room was great, we asked for a triple room. It was very spacious. Besides the location was amazing. Really close from everything. The only bad thing was that before entering into the elevator you have to walk like 10 steps of an stair, and with your luggage is unconfortable.

The hotel is in a great location, the room was very nice & spacious & the front desk very helpful. Negatives were only a shower & no tub - with all the walking around town a soak would have been welcome. Also the street noise was loud at times. The only major problem was poor driving directions to the hotel so we were frazzled by the time we made it but I would stay there again.

Our room was attractive and clean although a little on the small size. The staff appeared to be poorly managed and trained. We were given a key to the wrong room and the staff sent us back to the room twice with the wrong key until they were able to sort out which room and key was ours. The public areas are somewhat stark, and when we arrived there was no one to help us up the narrow entry stairds to the lobby. The manager finally sent one of the cleaning laides to wrestle our luggage up the stairs. Not a grat first impression. Hotel location, however is good.

The receptionist was excellent on our arrival giving plenty of information on how to get about, where to eat, what to see etc. The room was large and clean although it did suffer from quite a bit of street noise. The location was excellent, just round the corner from Piazza della Republica. All in all a good place to stay for your first visit to Florence.

The location of the hotel was perfect for seeing Florence, very near the Duomo, Ufizi and Academia. The air conditioning unit was not large enough to cool the entire room so while comfortable sleeping it was very warm in the bathroom.

Strozzi Palace was very conveniently located with only a short taxi ride from the train station. Could have walked but would have gottent lost I'm sure. Located in the heart of all attractions. Walked everywhere. Friendly, English speaking staff that gave us great dinner recommendations. Clean, large room for 4 only problem was one huge king bed and 2 twin metal framed (more or less, cots!) for the other 2 girls. We delt with it but it wasn't the most comfortable arrangement for sleeping. Other than that, the location was great, clean room and nice staff. Breakfast included in price and it was good w/lattes and cappuchinos included at request!! Would stay here again.

This was the end of our trip the last hotel in Florence it would have been nice to end positive, #1 the hotel staff refused to help us with our lugage, #2 the rooms were small dirity, and the window would not open, the Aircondition did not work wich they were notifyed at 4pm and again at 9pm and agin at 11pm no one came to fix the air, upon checking out I asked if the at the front desk if they could call the garge and have the car brought to the hotel they refussed so we went to the privous hotel and asked if they would do it and it was done at once, upon checking out i asked if the bill would be adjusted due to the air not working and i was told i would have to wait until noon when someone else came on all in all i enjoyed florence very much but would never recommend this 4 star hotel which should be a 2 star hotel at best to anyone i will contest the hotel charge when it arrives

The location, quietness and facilities of the hotel were first rate. The only problem we had was that they tried to bump us through to another hotel when we arrived, claiming a problem of overstaying from other clients. I did not think this was acceptable, given that we had booked that hotel specifically and reserved several weeks ahead. If I had not been able to throw a fit in Italian, I don't know what would have happened. We stayed there and everything else was fine, but it wasn't a good start.

The staff was accommodating. The rooms were dusty, very small, and there were lots of insects; we left Florence with insect bites from these insects in the rooms. Comparing room prices with other visitors in Florence, I think we overpaid by 30+ euros. Location is excellent. Other than that, it's a most ordinary place and does not rate 4 stars.

The receptionist on our arrival was excellant and very helpful. She gave us a wonderful restaurant recommendation. The bathroom was not as clean and the drain was clogged. The location was great and we liked being close to the main attractions. Our room was clean, cozy and nicely appointed but no washcloth in the bathroom which we thought was unusual for a 4* hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful and obtained personal products for us when our luggage did not arrive. The breakfast was nice with all the basics as well as a frittata; the only decaf coffee was instant Sanka so we opted for cappucino.

We had three adults in a room which had one double bed and a single bed there was plenty of room. The rooms are beautifully furnished and had a safe. Excellent location - very near main train station and within walking distance of many attractions e.g. del Academia (museum with David) and the Uffizi Gallery, Duomo etc. The buffet breakfast was pretty good and was included in the price of the room. The map on the site isn’t very good. Look up better directions. Mosquitos are a problem so don’t open the windows at night just keep the air conditioning on (which is a little loud). I would recommend the strozzi palace hotel

Pros:1.Strozzi Palace is very good cozy small hotel. 2. Outstanding location. 3. Friendly personnel. 4. Spaious rooms. 5. Reasonable rates. 6.Good airconditioning. Cons: 1. Very noisy rooms; better if they totally isolate windows by permanent tripple-glassed panels. 2. Not everyone among personnel is highly skilled. ANTONIA IS THE BEST.

Contrary to some of the other reviews, the bellhop took our bags up to our room without being asked and the receptionist took 5 minutes to give us a map and to show us where we were on it and where the main attractions were ( which were not hard to find since some of them are just around the corner). The room did only have a jacuzzi bath which meant no showers. Other than the noise, it was a great place to see Florence from and I would stay again.

The location of this hotel was excellent -- right in the heart of all the tourist sites in Florence. The room was beautifully decorated, spacious, and all vital services worked perfectly. The location was ideal, in the center. Breakfast was very good and room service was good. Avoid staying here. The rooms are noisy, filled with misquitos (in November) and the staff was lost our reservation. We eventually got a room, but it was not the one that we had booked. The staff then tried to charge for the larger room when we were checking out. After a long debate they finally corrected the bill.

First the pluses. Rooms are beutifully appointed. Maid service is great, and the breakfast and breakfast server excellent. Location is terrific. Now, the minuses: we arrived (four of us)with tons of luggage and no one to help (lunch hour or something). There was also a problem because we were told our credit card was invalid (not sure, as they found out later). Desk help was barely adequate. Responded only to questions, offered no suggestions. We felt we were interrupting them. Loung are was never used, and one desk clerk contaminated the air by sneaking smokes. Bar area was there but you would have to hunt someone down to get a drink. One English newspaper. Night help was friendlier but not a versed in English. Charge for overnight parking was excessive, 29 Euro per night and they want to charge more (for the size of car). When we left there was no help with the luggage. A purse was stolen from the curb area while we were loading the car. Not what I would have expected considering the four star raring and the price we paid. I think they are operating on a shoestring and are understaffed although the hotel was hardly full. We have been to Italy many times and stayed in all ranges of hotels, so please do not think we are ugly Americans looking for a Holiday Inn. Thank you.

We found the rooms to be of a nice size, however, we did have a few issues. Our room was right next to the elevator, so we heard it all night long. The rooms were very clean and just as we excepted. The location is GREAT. We did have a few issues with the bathroom. The water in the shower did not go down, so we could not take two showers back to back. The staff were very friendly and helpful with making reservations. We would stay there again, but would ask for another room next time. I believe the room we stayed in was #425.

Very spacious and beautiful room with jacuzzi bath. We arrived by car, and found it quite difficult to find as it is on a small one way street, and parking is not easy in Florence! Th hotel has a car park but this was expensive at 29 Euros per night. The hotel is ideally situated for all the main sights, only a couple of hundred metres from the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio and Uffizi Gallery. The satff were very friendly and helpful, and this is an ideal location ror a romatic weekend. I would definitely use it again, but would arrive by public transport.

Hotel does say it has parking available - but when you arrive it turns out that you must pay an extra 29 EUR to have someone come and park it! Beware the one-way system in central florence makes this hotel quite hard to find but it is a good central location when you do find it. The rooms were nice but overall I thought it was very expensive for one night's stay.

We had a marvelous stay in Florence at the Strozzi Palace Hotel. Our room was large as we had requested and the location was within 10 blocks of most of the major sights in Florence. It was a perfect location; close to everything but without too much street traffic at night. In addition we obtained some very good restaurant, shopping and sight-seeing recommendations from several of the desk staff. Massimilliano was especially helpful and marked up a couple of maps for us.

When we arrived we were given the only room in the hotel which had a 'system error' and therefore no air conditioning and an unclean bathroom. We had booked the room 6 months in advance and were given the only room which was not what we had reserved. We were both looking forward to our stay at the Strozzi but left disappointed as our complaint was not handled properly. After complaining about the room and having to spend one night there we were moved to a much smaller room. We ended paying for our inconveniences and a non- air conditioned, dark room. We travel alot and this was not one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Plus points are the hotel location, the public areas and the breakfast and breakfast staff.

About 7 min walk from the train station. The first floor is the entrance though NOT the reception-- you have to drag your luggage up 1/2 a flight of steps to get to the elevator which then goes to the reception and other levels. The rooms were incredibly small, though well-furnished. The receptionist refused to upgrade us (even though they said they would because it was our Honeymoon.) They spoke behind our backs in Italian and then came and told us 'thier decision' in English.. fishy. Was helpful with getting around and dinner reservations. Staff generally competent but one guy VERY rude.. sighed loudly when asked a question. Began loudly straightening up the bedspread after we frowned and said we werent sure if we were taking the room after seeing how small it was. Very lower-class type attitude. One guy at night spoke close to NO English. The rooms was a bit cool and it took three tries to get them to understand that we needed it warmer, not just the A/C turned off. Cool stand up shower for two (well one and a half) with jets coming down the sides! Cheap shampoo/soap etc. No iron availible. Location is great-- about 2 blocks from Strozzi Palace and two blocks form the Duomo/market area.

I had reserved two superior rooms for my husband and I and another couple. We were given the Rafaella and Michaelangelo rooms on the fifth floor (elevator only goes to 4th)and didn't look anything like the pictures. The wooden roof was noisy from the pidgeons landing and cooing and the windows overlook an alley. There was a very unpleasant acrid smell in my room which made me sick during the first night. Maximillian at the front desk told us it was from cleaners used in the room. When I told him neither room was what I expected he told us there was nothing he could do about changing rooms. In the morning I told him I couldn't tolerate the smells or the darkness of the room for four more nights. I offered to pay more for a deluxe room or we might have to look elsewhere. Although he was not inclined to move us, another gentleman (possibly the manager) spoke to him and he said we could move to a regular room at no extra charge. The room was fine and although not large, did reflect the pictures - was what I expected - and the rest of our stay, as well as the rest of the staff went pretty smoothly. I recommend this hotel with the caveat that you examine the room before you take your bags up and make sure it's OK. The location is excellent and there are many places to eat at night if you don't want to go too far.

I cant say enough about this hotel. We had a triple room which was very spacious and beautifully furnished and decorated. The bathroom was large and had a shower and jacuzzi tub, and all was in working order. Both room and bathroom were imaculate. The breakfast was wonderfull with meats, cheeses, yogurt, fresh and canned fruit, several choices of cereal, eggs, rolls, breads, filled croisants, sweet cakes and a frita with meat and eggs. All types of coffee and teas. The location couldnt have been better, everything was within walking distance. With public transportation nearby if desired. When you first walk into the hotel there is a flight of stairs up to the elevator but there is a railing lift if needed. The staff was very friendly and helpfull and the porter was very prompt. They allowed us to store our luggage after we checked out for several hours untill we caught our next train. I think this was the best hotel we stayed in of all the 5 cities we visited in Italy and would highly recommend it to all and will definatly stay here on our next trip.

Strozzi Palace is an exceptional european hotel. It is central to everything. The piazza strozzi has a wonderful cafe...if you go ask for christian...Our suite was a little noisey at night...but then who could dislike the sounds of Itlay at night?!! OUTSTANDING EVERYTHING!!! the only place to stay when in the Tuscany area. We got married at the Palazzo Vecchio!!! It waS A FAIRY TALE AND THE STAFF OF THE HOTEL WAS VERY HELPFUL AND KIND...THEY EVEN SENT US A BOTTLE OF CHAMPAGNE ON OUR WEDDING NIGHT

It is amazing how accurate were the opinions that others visitors wrote about the hotel. Yes, it is superb situated, yes, the room is large and clean, yes, the staff is very friendly. And yes, the public areas are small, yes, there are some 15 steps from the street up to the minuscule elevator. Yes, the room is little noisy, even with the windows closed. There are 2 types of de-luxe rooms. Both are large but only one type has jacuzzi and a sitting place as in the photos. The other has only a shower. Nobody goes to Florence for the jacuzzi, but if you put this in your description… We received the room with shower, but the next day they put us in another room witch was “like in the pictures”! The breakfast is good, pretty large selections and they offered almost any type of (good) coffee or tea you like. We liked the hotel very, very much, we will recommend to our friends. Thank you Strozzi Palace staff, thank you Venere for this unforgettable holiday.

Wow. The Strozzi Palace exceeded my expectations. Often the hotels that we stay at bear no resemblence to the gorgeous rooms pictured on the internet, but in the case of the Strozzi place the room was actually better in real life! Excellent value for money and right in the centre of town and a bargain at only 110 euros a night. The best bit was the spa type bath in our double deluxe room!

If you are bothered by street noise, opt for a room off the street.

A very good hotel but it was in a very difficult area of Florence to get too with all the one way systems and pedestrian areas. The room was perfect with plenty of room for the wheelchair. The only trouble was we had to pay seperately for parking and it was rather expensive.

We took advantage of a 'special offer' to stay (3) nights at a discount from the one-night rate, and were pleasantly surprised. Excellent accommodation and location. The one drawback, as seen everywhere, is a single, very small, elevator (lift).

We booked a room for a week and were given a small room, right off the lobby area. It was extrememly noisy - from internal noise (not the street). For a longer stay such as ours, we would have expected a nicer room. When we talked to the management about this, they said they could not help it if other people were inconsiderate. Instead of either moving us or giving us some consideration on the room rate, they just gave us a bottle of wine. The front desk staff varied - some were very helpful and others quite rude and not helpful at all. The location of this hotel is great, but we would not stay there again. We think one could find better hotels for the same cost in similar locations. Also

It was a great hotel -- the location was excellent, the people were nice, our particular room was huge. All in all we thought it was a great deal for a great price.

I was a little worried upon first arrival because the lobby is small and disjointed. Then I opened the door to our beautiful, spacious room. High ceilings and beautiful details were more than expected. The bathroom was large and also well appointed. The staff was very friendly, helpful and courteous. The location was convenient. Overall I was very satisfied with Strozzi Palace, esspecially considering this was the least expensive hotel we stayed at in Italy.

Welcoming hotel, employees spoke good english, right in the heart of old Florence, but not the most spacious of hotels, although rooms were of a reasonable size. Some rooms have connecting door to another, so noise level could be a problem. Have to pay 25 euros a night to park your car in a garage arranged by the hotel!

For a European hotel I found the room and bathroom very spacious and was able to relax. The added benefit of a jacuzzi was wonderful. Definitely a hotel I would go back to upon visiting Florence.
