The hotel has only one advantage - it's not too far (but no close either) from the visiting sites. However, considering Florence is a small town, it's not that big deal. Our major problem is that the bathroom is very dirty - the shower curtain is yellow marked, the floors have dirty/black marks, and the wall is full of smashed mosqitos. We signed up for a non-refundable 2 day contract and moved out to another hotel as soon as we could

The room it self was clean and big for a single.. However that put me next to the front desk and that was loud.. The help was rude and could care a less... they were to busy talking to eachother.. The breakfast was poor..and the shower was laugh out loud... You had to really walk long to find a good place to eat and after dark it was not that safe... Would not stay again

Hotel was in a good position but smelly and old. No drinking water facilites available. Very old noisy toilet. Breakfast was limited and not fresh. No lift available for luggage and nowhere to leave luggage available. Whole place including entrance needs a good cleanup, not welcoming at all.

My husband and I went for a short break. For a 2* hotel it was fantastic and we didn't expect to have air conditioning which we were very grateful for! We were within a 10 minute walk of the Duomo and 20 minutes of all other major attractions. The station was probably only a 15 minute walk but we got a taxi which was around 7 euros. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast, although typically italian, there was plenty of choice. Would we definitely recommend this hotel for its location and value for money.

Really nice hotel for the price! We really enjoyed our stay! Perfect location, just outside party-zone, but still in walking distance to all the sights. We had a room turning towards a small courtyard, and it was really nice and quit - don't know if the rooms turning towards the street is the same way..... Nice and helpful people working there, and the breakfast was excelent!

Beware that the hotel is on the 1st floor, and that there is no elevator. Was impressed by the size of the room, and the facilities. Takes about 20 minutes to walk to the train station.

The rooms are small, but at this price, all rooms in Italy are small. The room was clean, quiet, and air conditioned (pretty important in the July heat). The neighborhood is great - we walked all of Florence from our hotel without ever needing public transportation or a taxi. The only struggle was walking from the train station to the hotel in the July heat - it's not as close at it seems when luggage is in the mix. I might pay the small price of a taxi (6-7 euro) to save yourself the trouble. In general, we were very pleased with the hotel, the service, and the location - and at a great price considering the value of the American dollar right now.

Do not judge Hotel Piccolo by the entryway or stairwell. Once inside, the hotel public areas and our room were clean and pleasant. Staff was helpful and friendly. Good location. Would stay here again.

We stayed at Hotel Piccolo for 5 nights. We found the hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The train station was about 15 minute walk from the hotel. The Duomo and other sights were about a 15 minute walk also. The rooms are basic but clean. The onlt problem was that there was no lift, which was expected as it is rare that you will find a lift in an old building. We found this was the case for most hotels in Italy. Overall, we were happy with the hotel.

Spacious triple. Desk clerk very kind when I needed to change our date due to sudden illness. Need of 3rd towel and replacement lightbulb corrected quickly and with apologies. Included breakfast sufficient; pastries, fruit, yogurt, coffee/tea, juice. Great rate for Firenze.

Very helpfull staff, but if you go by car, parking in the centre of Firenze is a mess, unless you want to pay 25€ each day in a private parking. My advise is to reach the hotel, leave your luggage, and look for the public parking blue places, they´re not too close to the hotel but it will not take you more than a 15 min walk.

My stay was very good. The rooms are noisy so I wouldn't recommend it for light sleepers. The rooms are big and clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Note that there is not any elevator or internet connection. Excellent location for accessing just about anything in Florence because it's only a ten minute walk to the central train station. The street is a quite street and has handy access to laundry facilities, restaurants, snack bars, museums, historic sights and many other services.

Very good hotel. I would recommend it to everyone who is looking for a quiet and clean place to stay in Florence, even for a longer period. Nice environment, about 10min walk to the center, 15min walk to the Santa Maria Novella train station. Note that the hotel is located one and a half blocks further to the north than indicated on the map.

We spent a happy week here. The rooms (and the reception/breakfast area) were comfortable, simply but carefully and stylishly furnished, reasonably well-equipped. Provided you don't need a cooked meal to start your day, the continental breakfast was fine: coffee/tea/etc. freshly prepared for each of us, cereal, fruit juice, fruit (sometimes), rolls/croissants. The proprietress and staff were always available -- courteous, helpful, and a ready source of good local information, creating a generally congenial atmosphere. From our point of view the location was excellent -- in a quiet street, 10 minutes walk from the Duomo, and 5 minutes from the central market (highly recommended), street market, internet cafes, etc.

This is a charming and friendly hotel run by very warm and welcoming people (who speak perfect English). The room was pleasant, clean , comfortable and above all quiet (a rare commodity in Florence). The hotel is beautifully situated 5 minutes walk from the duomo and very close to several excellent restaurants. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Expensive for type of room offered. Staff were nice. Room was large and comfortable, but bathroom was strange--shower curtain did not extend fully around shower, so the toilet got wet whenever shower was used.

The hotel was adequate, though nothing special. Our biggest complaint was that the lobby always smelled as if something had died in it. One of the front desk attendants (dark haired woman with tatoos) rather unpleasant)

The Piccolo is a well-located, quiet small (10 rooms) hotel. Our room was basic as was the bathroom (drain in the floor for the shower). The manager (Sylvie) is very friendly and helpful. Parking is available only three blocks away for a reduced rate. The location is the best thing about the hotel. There is a terrific restaurant (Ristorante da Mimmo) just a few doors away from the hotel.
