The hotel is a little spendy, but the location was great, next to a park and Metro. Ten minute walk to the city and the Ponte Vecchio. Location is what you pay for and worth it.

Its a wonderful surprise. Definitely great value for money. What you'll get is an experience living in a lush villa surrounded by ..... other villas. For once the naming is apt. If you're worried about distance to centre of town .... don't. Its only about 5 mins to the bus stop. And a further 5 mins ride to reach across the Arno. We will definitely come back.

great hotel, great rooms

The room was very small with very old furniture, the window and the balcony were just above the hotel rubbish deposit. The wifi connection was not reachable from my room. The bath was poor, very small, the quality of the hotel is completely different from what you see in the pictures.

Very professional service. I have stayed and referred people here for more than 30 years, with no disappointments. The decor of the rooms is somewhat sparse, but the location couldn't be better!

If you are sick and tired of the crowds of Florence, this is a world away from the souvenirs and tourists. Across the Ponte Vecchio (a fair walk if you enjoy that kind of thing; otherwise, bite the bullet, do as Europeans do and take a taxi from the train station), the hotel is in a lovely quiet neighborhood. The room was large, comfortable and charming. We did not experience the noise mentioned. There is no UPHILL, but a gentle slope up the hill to the hotel (I suppose if you're dragging a huge suitcase it could seem a bit daunting). Kind folks, good enough Italian breakfast, cozy room, lovely neighborhood.

Lovely quiet place in a parklike residential area. Perfect base camp for my run in the marathon. Good breakfast buffet. Staff very friendly. Front desk english fluent. It was very much off-season so the kitchen and bar were not open in evening. We found several great places to eat within a 5-10 min walk. Free parking was nice when we rented a car for a couple days. Handy to buses to train station and throughout city. 15 min walk to Ponte Vecchio and the tourist stuff.

We enjoyed our stay and learned to ride the bus into the center of Florence as it is located by Porta Romana. A great breakfast bar started our day and it was always an oasis after a full day of sight-seeing with a full bar and internet connection.

The Hotel Villa Carlotta definitely exceeded my expectations. The room was lovely, with a chandelier and antique furniture. For breakfast, an elegant man brought me a truly delicious lemon pastry along with my cappuchino. The best part about the Hotel Villa Carlotta was the staff, who go out of their way to welcome their guests. When I inquired about a local parade, a staff member even looked it up in the newspaper so she could give me more information about it. I would love to return to the Hotel Villa Carlotta and spend more time in the beautiful city of Florence (Firenze).

I would highly recommend the Villa Carlotta to anyone visiting Florence. It is about a 20 to 30 minute walk into the center of town from the Villa via the Porta Romana, the Via Romana and the Ponte Vecchio. The hotel is beautifully situated in a seemingly upscale living area on the edge of the Boboli Gardens. The rooms are spacious as well as the bar and the dining area. There is a bit of lost old world elegance about the hotel, which I found extremely charming. The staff is very friendly and helpful and they all spoke english. They were even helpful in making telephone reservations for restaurants in the area. There is a free internet point in the bar area. The taxi ride to the airport costs 23 Euros. If I ever return to Florence, I will definitely plan to stay at the Villa again!

the hotel is very quite, in an upscale area of the city, not too far away from the center (about 15 minutes walk to Ponte Vecchio)

We had a fantastic 3 days in Firenze. Hotel is well, quiet, and close from the center of the city. We used the bus line 13 to the city and line 12 from the city to the hotel while passing by the michelangelo, the frequency is about every 30 minutes, which is ok.

The hotel is located about 2km (a 20 minutes walk)from the Ponte Vecchio and the major attactions and monuments. I would recommend it to you specially if you arrive by car because they provide parking and it is included in the price. It is very easy to get to the hotel from the highway and the sourrundings are beautiful. The rooms are old style but they are clean. Breakfast is very good and the staff is competent and kind.

The fantastic thing about Villa Carlotta for us was the setting. The walk back through the Boboli Gardens and then up the quiet leafy street to the hotel in the evening was just magic at the end of a busy day down in the city. Such a peaceful spot and yet within walking distance of everything we wanted to see. And thank you to the staff who were so helpful and made our stay a pleasure.

The room was really small (smaller than on the pictures), not very clean. The faucet was borken. The room was old. The people not very friendly (breakfast). However the location was nice.

The hotel is in need of a renovation. It feels old and dingy. It is over priced.

The hotel was what we hoped for, a quiet part of the city but not too far from the centre. Our only complaint was the breakfast, for the price of hotel it was limited in choice.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Villa Carlotta, which had been recommended by a colleague back in the USA. We were happy to be staying in such a quiet, lovely location, away from noisy Florence traffic, and only regretted that our stay was limited to one night. (We might have stayed two, but the villa was booked.) I believe we reserved the last room available for the night that we were staying, so we expected to have a small, undesirable room, but were pleasantly surprised to find our room quite large and relatively quiet, even though we were in Room 101, the first off the reception area. It helped that the villa has double doors installed across from our entranceway that can be closed to cut down on the noise at the front. We only heard noise once when guests were arriving, but it wasn't unpleasant or disturbing. If we were asked if there was anything negative to say about Villa Carlotta, there would be one minor and one possibly not-so-minor comment or concern. The porter referred to our "terrace," which was just a tiny space outside our room separated from the parking lot by a stand of trees. There appeared to be two other rooms that shared similar space to the left of our room, so it wasn't private/separated from others, you couldn't sit there (or wouldn't want to), and if you left your outside door open (which we did for awhile), someone could easily walk into your room. This didn't make any difference to us, because when we wanted to be somewhere other than our room, we sat in the very pleasant common areas. The second concern might be more relevant to other guests than it was to us. The food that we had at dinner was mediocre at best. The dining room itself is lovely (although downstairs and a bit cavernous, with no windows), our waiter (who also served us tea in the afternoon and cocktails before dinner) was extremely helpful and friendly, the service excellent, but the food was unmemorable except for its mediocrity and

Overall my experience was average. The service was great but the experience from our room was not so good. We had bug bites and mosquito bites at night. The one positive point was that it was in a good location so it was quite. Our first impression was that it was not worth the 270 Euro that we paid for the room (given a 4-star hotel). I personally did not have good night sleep. We had a much better experience with a 3-star hotel we stayed in Roma (for 200 Euro). I hope this information is helpful.

Basically the hotel was adequate. But NOT outstanding. Food service was not good and breakfast was very ordinary. The coffee was terrible.

This was my second stay at Villa Carlotta and I enjoyed the second as much as I did the first. I particularly like the intimacy of the villa. one critical comment is that the coffee served at breakfast was instant or tasted like instant. Requesting espresso or cappucino from the bar improved matters.

Rooms are rather small. The garden is very tiny. Food is a bit boring.
