So far more than 300 metres at you told me and hard to find I had to ask many people "how to go there?" This hotel don't have elevator,I stayed on th 3rd floor so heavy for me to bring my baggage up and down. Breakfast room so small but good Breakfast. Staff in this hotel so nice.

We had six very pleasant nights here. The Villa may look ancient or even shabby outside but it is definitely not so in the inside. The room is spacious with a well-equipped bathroom and a large storage area for luggage. It is clean and quite (thanks to double glazing). BTW, it has CNN which kept us updated about the tragic earthquake in L'Aquila as we don’t understand Italian. Breakfast is served in a cute room down the basement and it was much more than just a cappuccino and a croissant as you would get somewhere else. The hotel staff speaks great English and was very helpful. The lady at the reception desk was so kind to help me resolve a credit card issue with another store by trying to explain to them the story in Italian and figure out a solution for us. As to the location, the Villa may appear far from the city center on a map, but Florence is not a big city as Rome and it takes a maximum of 10-minute walk to St. Maria Novella or 15 minutes to St.Lorenzo. For what it’s worth, there is a supermarket called META nearby where you can get water and food supply. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and will definitely come back if we go to Florence again.

Villa Azalee is within walking distance of the convention center in Florence, also the train station, SMN church, dome and main shopping and monument areas. There's a bus stop at the corner in case you don't enjoy walking.Safe enough at night. Charming garden. Beautiful breakfast room and china (maybe a bit too cute), warm, helpful personnel. Rooms are small, however: my friend and I shared a double, and it was tricky to accomodate our bagagge, clothes, conference materials, laptop, purchases- few, actually- and the many decorative items in the room, it was cluttered. What did we miss most: wi fi. In summary, very nice place where to stay, suitable for people without chidren, for short stays.

In November I stayed with a friend in Villa Azalee for 4 nights. It's north of the Santa Maria Novella Trainstation, about 10 min walk (because of the work at the road at the moment)Villa Azalee is an old Florentine Villa surrounded by a lovely garden where you can have your breakfast in the summer. Even in November the garden looked wonderful and wellkept. We had a standard twin room and we slept like princesses in our wonderful beds with cracking clean sheets........I loved breakfast in the PINK room. I have only one negative thing: the shower in room 23! You have to be a wizard to get it right! (Little water that's too hot!) The employees are all very helpful and kind: they arranged our reservation for the Uffizi and were at their desk at 03.00 in the morning because we had to catch the Terravisionbus to the Pisa airport! We had a wonderful stay at villa Azalee at an incredible low-season-price of 59Euro a night.Want to go back anytime....sigh.....

This hotel was quite run down and my room was crawling with ants! Alot of building/road work outside, but this did not contribute significantly to the noise, rather the thin door on to the main staircase in the hotel meant that voices carried. Reasonably priced, but rooms definately in need of renovation and some pest control

The staff was very friendly and service oriented. The Hotel is located in the near of the centre (15-20 minutes walk). Parking situation isn´t that good because of street works in front of the hotel. But there is a cooperation with a parking garage close to the hotel. Nice: Breakfast offered also in the garden.

our room was not refurbished and very old. There were bugs all over the bathroom and the breakfast was one of the poorest experiences in Italy. More, you could not have the breakfast on the terrace but in a basement room.

Excellent value for money. Stayed in a double room with private bathroom. Everything was very clean and spacious. The room even had a walk-in wardrobe! Very convenient, especially for the train station. Friendly staff in a querky villa. Not what I was expecting but pleased with the choice. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

It was our fisrt time to this hotel and the last also. We were very disappointed as the surrounding of the hotel is a big construction site! Also, we had tons of ants and spiders in our room! When I told the reception, they said: they MIGHT take care of it! Worse, we had a terrasse connected to our room and it was soooo dirty we wouldn't even sit there! Do not take this hotel, it is not taking care of from the outside and the inside! Thank you.

The hotel is very nice with a romantic decoration and a lot of antiques, even silver utensils in the breakfast. The rooms in the ground floor to the courtyard are newly remodeled and great. There is no elevator and the stairs are high to the upper levels, but they take the luggage upstairs. It is possible to use a computer at the lobby, buying a prepaid card, but right around the building is a call center. The only negative fact is the construction of a tram line in the front, but it doesn't bother once inside the hotel. Also the property is not in the center of the sights but is only a 10 minutes walk from the station.

The staff was very welcoming and friendly. A nice continental breakfast. Our room was a little worn and a bit small. The biggest issue was that we arrived in Florence with the weather in the 90's. The air conditioning in the room was quite inadequate and the room never really cooled off. Acess to the train station was great.

This was our favorite, of the 5 hotels we stayed in on this trip. It was like staying at grandmas house. Even though we were right by the bus stop, it was quiet and we felt very safe. We thought -this is what Italy should look like-all of the staff was very nice. We actually wanted to spend more time in our room than we had. We also had a really good breakfast in their very cute breakfast room. The only negative is that it is around the backside of the train station (further away from sights) where they are doing a lot of road construction for the new metro line so it was a hard walk with our luggage.

Paid 99 Euro per night in late April 2008, and it was a great value and a wonderful place to stay. It was our best hotel in all of Europe. Recommend getting the top floor, as the rooms are larger and have high ceilings, although there are a lot of stairs to walk up. They help you carry your bags up, which is nice. Breakfast was great, the concierges were very helpful. Only downside, it was a good 20 minute walk to downtown Florence, Uffizi Museum, etc. There was no public transportation from the hotel to the main area of Florence, only walking or take a taxi. Closest restaurants were about a 10-15 minute walk away. They were very helpful in setting up reservations at Uffizi and Accademia.

due to the construction of the site, facade of the hotel cannot be seen, but its a marvelous facade of the hotel, details of the antiquity of the hotel like the reception, coffee and drink bar,the lobby, staircase, the garden and the entrance door, must be properly maintained and taken cared of(must be tiptop clean). hotel villa azalee is a unique old style hotel for antique lovers, it would be very nice if the hotel will be maintained and preserved.there are only few old hotels left like villa azalee.

This is a GREAT hotel! I strongly recommend it. It is easy to get there, not far from the rail station. I love the gorgeous decoration inside hotel. It has a lovely garden. The double room we booked is pretty spacious and veeeery clean. Most importantly, it is very quiet though our room is facing to the motor way. Staff is very helpful and warm-hearted. The service is perfect. Last but not least, I like the continental breakfast a lot!

This is a fantastic hotel. Of all the hotels I stayed at during my trip to Italy, This was the best. The hotel has a warm country style appeal and the staff are the most friendliest and helpful of all. The garden is so beautiful and added to the overall appeal of the courtyard room that we stayed in. The breakfast was the best included breakfast we had at any hotel in Italy. They even served eggs and toast. The location is on the quiter side of town a bit away from the main attractions but also is a blessing as it is away from the crowds and busy streets. Overall, the best value in comparison to other 3 stars I stayed at in Italy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Villa Azalee. The staff was quite friendly and helpful. Our room was attractive and comfortable, with a larger-than-expected bathroom. The complimentary breakfast was acceptable. There is a lot of construction going on in front of the Hotel, but I'm sure the location will seem much nicer once that is completed. It's about a 10 or 15-minute walk to the center of Florence, which wasn't a problem. We enjoyed our time at Villa Azalee and would gladly stay there again if we are able to return to Firenze.

NO ELEVATORS! so if you have a lot and/or heavy luggages, that's A LOT of stairs your have to climb if they put you on the 2nd floor or above. the room i stayed in is in serious need of renovation. all the other rooms on my floor had been renovated, the hotel really shouldn't have skimped out on just that one room. the shower is very small and the drain was clogged. even worse, there were ants in the bathroom and some even crawled onto my clothes on the dresser.

A nice hotel, a five minute walk from the train station (away from town centre). My room was 34 which is in a detached building through the courtyard behind the main hotel. Compact but pleasant and reminded me a bit of a converted farmhouse in both style and design. Wooden beams and nice bedclothes, furnishings. There were ants in the room which would upset some people I'm sure. The bathroom was large by Italian standards and all was to a high quality. Plenty of buffet breakfast and coffee to order. On the second night someone stayed in the room next door and I could make out their conversation - thats a pity as the hotel scores very highly apart from that, especially for the price! Would very likely stay again.

We stayed here the last night of our trip (late October) and suspect that we got the excellent rate (69 Euros) because of all the construction in front of the property and the fact that they are renovating right now. The close proximity to the train station (10 minute walk with luggage) and several bus stops was perfect. The room was very cute and quite large. We had one problem--a broken radiator in the bathroom that was kicking out major heat. We had to keep the bathroom door closed and the windows open so that we could be cool enough to sleep! Also, there was a problem with the shower draining -- threatened to overflow fairly easily. Other than that, it was superb. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was good (terrible coffee, but what are you going to do?). We would definitely stay here again if the price was right.

The hotel was good, although there was alot of roadworks going around the hotel, so a little bit noisy but that was in June 07, so it's probably finished now. We had been out sight seeing and we came back to find that our room had leaked when it rained. So they were good, transferred us to another room, although the room wasn't as big. The breakfast was really good, freshly made cake, slices, etc in the morning, you got to have scrambled eggs, etc. The only thing was you couldn't have breakfast to 7.30 (I think) for us that was a little bit late because we like to get out early and explore

We were very pleased with our room for the first night: roomy, painted mural ceiling, balcony overlooking the garden, comfortable bed and good ensuite facilities. The furniture was showing its age and unfortunately on the second day the manager caused scaffolding to be erected on the back of the building which meant we could not open the doors to our balcony and the noise was most disturbing. Apparently a leak on the roof had to be fixed. We complained but the manager offered just a shrug of the shoulders and that it had to be done. When we decided to check out at 2 pm because of the noise he wanted to charge us an extra night's accomodation and only after an unpleasant and unnecessary argument did he relent. The Hotel is very old and the outside is very rundown. I would not stay there again mainly because of the attitude of the manager.

My heart sunk when I initially saw the outside as it is somewhat 'run down'. But after entereing, we were in a beautiful, clean, well decorated hotel with a beautiful surrounding garden that had a number of table/chair settings for relaxation. Desk staff were friendly & helpful. My bank account got frozen while in Florence, & the desk clerk helped us for about an hour with phone calls, etc.--definitely above what his job was. Room tastefully decorated in bues & yellows & very clean. Very adequate breakfast in the morning in a cozy room with a variety of breads, cakes, fruit, juice, cereal,yogurt,coffee/cappuccinos, & scramble eggs on 2 out of 4 mornings. Within walking distance of all downtown Florence & train station. No lift, but staff had our suitcases to our room before we got there!

Villa Azalee was OK. No complaints, but nothing to brag on, either. Breakfast was just adequate. Overall, the Villa Azalee was the least memorable hotel on our fourteen day, seven city tour of Spain, France and Italy. Nothing terrible but nothing magnificent. Just a place to lay your head at night and close to the main train station.

USA, Jul 2007
The Villa Azalee is old and showing its age - a bit 'long in the tooth' one might say. However, the rooms were very clean and tidy, the A/C did its job, and the location allowed walking to all the key sites in 20 minutes or less. The buffet breakfast, included in the price, had all that one would need and more to satisfy and start the day. Ours was a standard double room, but the bed was oversized and very comfortable. If you are going to spend most of your time away from the hotel, as we did, then this is a real bargain if you do not need a modern facility. It is a 5 minute walk to the train station, which makes it a real snap to get in and out of the city, too. While we might pick another hotel for our next stay in Florence, just to have something a bit more upscale, but travelers on a budget can save some money, get a good night's sleep and start off with a good breakfast at the Villa Azalee.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Villa Azalee. The staff were charming and the room and facilities/breakfast were excellent. We felt sorry for them because of the tram line being built outside - but in the long run it will benefit them because the tram will link the hotel directly with the station. The only problem we had was noisy Japanese guests who were talking until 2.30am but that was not the hotel's fault. We would certainly recommend the hotel to others.

Personale gentilissimo e disponibile. La sala colazione è davvero particolare, molto gradevole e la colazione è abbondante. Il giardino attorno all'albergo è decisamente bello! Consigliato!

We loved our stay. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The hotel has an attractive garden with tables and chairs for everyone to use. Our room was very nice and comfortable and we had our own private deck complete with a table, chairs and flowers. (not all rooms have one) It was so nice to relax there in the evening. The hotel is very close to the train station. There are restaurants close by and also a self serve laundry and grocery store. We would stay at the Hotel Azalee again. Be aware that currently (October 2006) there is construction around the hotel and the street Via Della Scala is closed. This just makes it a little trickier to get to if you aren't expecting it.

A bit far from anywhere interesting, but generally service was good. Construction noise could be heard even when windows were shut tight, but could sleep well with the air-con.

This is the second time I've stayed at the Azalee and I've just booked my third. I was impressed most of all by its character and charm but it's also very convenient for the rail and bus stations. I found the price very reasonable for this standard of hotel in Florence and imagine that this might be because of the current surrounding roadworks where they are building a new tram system, but once inside the hotel walls all I noticed was the lovely garden and I wasn't disturbed much by noise. The only advice I would give is that if you are arriving by taxi from the airport warn the driver about the works and to set you down in the main road because otherwise he may take you to the side road of the hotel, as happened to me, and you can't get to the hotel entrance from there. If they get it wrong it means a long detour and the taxis are quite expensive.

The gardens surrounding the hotel were lovely and so nice to sit in and relax. A charming hotel with spacious rooms, very nice bathrooms with lush towels and a very nice breakfast offering. We would definately stay here again! Friendly staff and very helpful and accommodating. The web pictures don't do this hotel justice!

Beatiful hotel, good breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff. Our room (#36) had a fantastic little terrace full of flowers. Room walls are not very soundproof, but that's a minor inconvenience. Overall highly recommended, one of the best hotels we stayed at in Italy.

Very very nice room, very good staff, very good breakfast etc... There are lots more positive things i can say about this hotel. I should also mention two negative things we witnessed, which is a shame, as one is not even the fault of the hotel. Currently, there are MAJOR excavations taking place outside the hotel. Work started right outside our bedroom window at 7:30 am and is not a nice experience to be woken up with whilst on our honeymoon. Was told, it could take YEARS to finish! many hotels now offer free internet access, having to pay 6 euro/hour seemed a little expensive to me.

Azalee was quite convenient to the SMN train station--very easy walk and short distance. The hotel features lovely gardens in the midst of this wonderful thriving city. Our room was in a building in the rear of the main structure fronting the street. The added distance helped muffled road noise and the lush gardens added an elegance. The continental breakfast was delivered directly to the room, which was nice, as it allowed for some privacy. The room was somewhat small, fitting primarily two beds pushed together. The room size was the only downside of the hotel and was hard to determine from the available pictures. An added perk and very pleasant surprise, however, was that our room had a private rooftop terrace garden/out door sitting area which was quiet lovely. The private garden is a wonderful place for morning coffee and really added to the room. We stayed only one night here but would have easily stayed longer.
