Location is very close to Santa Maria Novella Train Station. This is actually several hotels that have been conglomerated which makes things confusing. Stairs would be difficult for older people or people with heavy suitcases to negotiate.

Hotel Spagna did meet my expectation; I was looking for a good located hotel, in the center between Santa Maria Novella and Duomo, and reasonable value for money. Hotel Spagna is very good for backpackers and single travellers.

Location is excellent, very close to train station and the Duomo, walking distance to everything. Room is spacious, bathroom is large with tub, very clean. The only drawback was a call from the staff the first night at 9 pm, asking us to bring our baggage down right away because they gave us the wrong room. We were in bed so we refused, Wonder what it is about.

We were very comfortable here, felt welcomed, good breakfast, friendly staff and other guests, area of town is old but the hotel is clean and centrally located and we felt very safe here also which was important to us. close to sightseeing, food, all in walking distances, close to train station. We would stay here again - in fact we extended our stay after we arrived! thank you - be prepared for stairs and no lift. staff helpful however.

The hotel is in a fantastic location being a few hundred meters from the train station and on one of the main streets of Florence. We were able to leave our bags there before and after checkout. Unfortunately with it being on a main street, the room was very noisy but if you're only staying for a night it is fine.

This hotel was totally a nightmare & the worse among hotels we stayed in our trip. The hotel check-in time as stated was mid-day, but when we arrived at 12 noon, the staff told us to come back at 2pm because the room was not ready. We returned on 2.30pm checked-in, but the found out that the cleaner was still preparing the room and requested us to come back in half an hour. I discussed this problem with the hotel staff & requested for another room, what I got finally was just an ignorance. The room that we stayed in has no tv, telephone, air conditional with just (warm) natural air, bathroom without privacy (No curtain on window) etc.

The location is good, close to train statin and duomo, room is clean but no TV,tiny bathroom but enough, you can request for a quiet room, otherwise you may got a room near the steet.the only problem is they don't have a lift, we have to carry our heavy luggage to 4th floor, that's a terrible thing, but it's florence, you can't blame.

Location of this hotel is very good. Also as a plus they have privat bathroom, which is difficult to find in old building like this one.I did not appreciate the darkness (the natural light is almost inexistent) and the fact that hotel inside looks old, smell old, the walls are with all painting, it looks said. A reason not stay long in the hotel, only for sleeping.

Very friendly staff, they booked all tours for us. Breakfast is OK. Ask for the room that does not face via Panzani otherwise you won't be able to sleep. AC does not do much so we slept with open windows. Hotel is very close to all main attractions, we walked everywhere. Please try a restaurant called CIRO & SONS (1 block away). Best food in Florence (but alittle pricey). TIP: Be careful with taxi drivers(esp in ROME), insist on viewing the meter while in the cab(they cover it with mirror), because you will end up paying 4 times as much. Also ask if restaurants charge cover charge(for plates, forks and napkins),we paid as much as 10 euros on top of the bill(!!!). Check your bills-they cheat tourists! Overall, good hotel for a reasonable fee, nothing fancy. I would stay there again.

Nice hotel staff, but the actual hotel was quite shabby. Our room was dusty and had a bad smell. The location is good though, close to the train station. Many floors to climb on twisting staircase without a suitable elevator, can be hard with luggage. Hotel provided nice breakfast in the morning

The hotel is in an excellent location on the main street about half way between the rail station and the Duomo. However it is a very busy street, so even high up it was quite noisy. It's a tall thin hotel starting one floor above street level; reception is two floors up. It was a struggle with heavy luggage because the lift starts one floor up and doesn't reach the top floor. There is a stair lift at the bottom for people with disabilities, but even so I think you'd have a hard time if you were in a wheelchair. Breakfast was good: lots of choice. There were only 5 tables in the breakfast area by reception which meant there were people waiting for a table most mornings. Our room was right at the top under the eaves, which meant there were no windows at eye level. There was a curious arrangement of some little steps so you could actually get to see out - which gave a view of the Duomo over the rooftops! Staff were very helpful, spoke good English (and French). In summary a fairly ordinary hotel, well kept, in a good location and reasonable value for money, but the building it is in gives it some awkward disadvantages.
