Made to feel very welcome, staff helpful. Lovely clean spacious room. Only downside is the distance to the central attractions of Florence and the fact that you have to cross a busy road everytime. Don't let that distract from it being a first class hotel for a short break

Hotel was selected according a parking slot at 10 Euros. At our arrival, hotel told us there is no more places, we should go to another parking for 18 Euros/days !!!!!Furthermore, florence desappointed us a lot with high prices and no services : 2 coca for 16,- Euros!... with a lot of graffitis and dirt !!

A lovely hotel and charming genial staff. The upgrade to a room with a veranda and the wait staff's kindness on the days I was ill while there truly won me over completely, even though the distance from the heart of Florence might have been slightly more than I'd have wanted had it been my first visit to Florence. The slightly longer walks were always just fine (well-needed for this American who otherwise rarely lets my feet take me places), and it's a well known hotel to all cab drivers, as well, in case you're tired at the end of day and wish to simply get back 'home'. A superb value for the cost, and that's the trade-off for being slightly further afield. Two nice deli-like prepared food spots within steps of the hotel, but otherwise not an area filled with restaurants, though. My only complaint would be that internet for those of us who need to work while traveling was very expensive. Twenty euro for a 24 hour access; 10 euro for an hour (use by minutes), so figure that into your costs along with extra taxi costs for distance. But a fine stay! I'd definitely go back!

We think we made a good choice by staying at this hotel - though it's a bit further away from the center of town, it's quiter an nicer than most hotels in the town. The walk is not bad at all. The room is spacious and nice. Breakfast is good.

The hotel and the location 10 min near downtown were quite perfect. Only the breakfast buffet was not very diversified, esp. we have missed more fresh fruits. But it was good enough for a good start in the day. Tip: order Cappuccino instead of coffee!

Great location, just outside of the ZTL, but walking distance to all major sites. We had a car, so this worked out really well for us. Parking garage was close by. The restaurant recommended by the staff (Pegasus) was the best meal we had in all of Italy. Excellent hotel!

I think the hotel operates for business cliental, but was good value for money due to the Itaian holiday season. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the main areas. The hotel uses a car park which is a 5 minutes walk away.

We can only recommend this hotel. The employees are very motivated and very helpful. The rooms are very nice and the bathroom is the best. 5 shower heads and music!! Breakfast is very good and rich, the staff is serving new food until the end. (until 10.30). You can have your breakfast outside. The historical centre can be reached within 15 minutes by walk.

We got great service and wonderful breakfast buffet at this hotel. Our room had a huge terrace, which I believe only one other room had in the whole hotel, so we were extremely lucky. The area is a bit noisy because it's near a major intersection, but it was quiet with the doors shut at night.

The price I booked via venere was higher (120 euros in total!) at the end due to the fact that the hotel did a promotion via its site. The breakfast was miserable. The room was full of killed mosqiutos around the walls and the cleaners didnt touch anything.

Hotel San Gallo is nice hotel a little outside the center of the city which made it a nice place to escape from the noise and crowds. The staff was ready and willing to help. Their resturants suggestions were very good (benedicta and the il Latini). We would stay at this hotel again.

This is a well maintained and run hotel, excellent staff and about 10 minutes walk to Il Duomo. The car park is a public underground car park with a special secure area for the hotel about 5 minutes away but you wouldn't need to use your car whilst in Florence. Nice small bar and lounge, ideal for a short break in Florence, we will use this hotel again next visit!

I would recommend this hotel for a convenient, pleasant hotel in Florence. The hotel is clean and modern. We were extremely impressed with our room(very large with terrace in a little courtyard and lovely bathroom with jacuzzi bath). The complimentary welcome drink was also a nice touch. Breakfast is simple but adequate with nice outdoor area in which to eat. The main disadvantages are the 15 minute walk to the centre (although it's nice to be away from the masses) and the complicated parking. Apparently the hotel have a small number of assigned spaces in a nearby carpark for €10/night but we ended up paying €18/night in public parking. Overall, I would return if staying in Florence.

A very nice and clean hotel. Inside the room, it has almost everything of a 5 start hotel. The front-desk staff were very friendly, although the ones at the bar and breakfast could be improved. The location is not great for city centre if ones doesn't know the diection or how to get buses. Or otherwise, bus stops are close by, and there are nice restaurants nearby also.

San Gallo Palace is a little out of the center of Florence but we felt the location was ideal. It was a 15 minute walk or a short, less than 5 minute, bus ride to the city center (the bus stop is less than a one minute walk). The staff, the breakfast, the room were all great. The only downside was the fact that there was carpet in the room. If it were anything other than carpet we would have rated this hotel a 10 for cleanliness (a little hard to keep carpets clean). We would definitely stay at this hotel again should we return to Florence, it was fantastic all around.

Hotel was very nice. Renovated and clean. Bathroom fine. Room was a little small. Noise from above (although we were on top floor) annoying in early morning after overseas flight. Staff very nice and personable. Modern hotel with architectural character unlike some of the modern "box" hotels in Florence.

This was a beautiful hotel with very friendly staff. The location was a very brief taxi ride from the main train station. We had an excellent stay at the San Gallo Palace Hotel. The staff were courteous and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. the self service breakfast offered a good range of choice. The San Gallo Palace Hotel is slightly out of the centre of Firenze, about a 15 minute walk. However, the walk into the centre takes you past the Museum of San Marco - an absolute must. The San Gallo Palace is a quality hotel. We would definitely consider staying there again if we return to Firenze.

WE had a FANTASTIC stay in San Gallo for 3 nights. The only problem we had, was that the location on the map (on the web site) was misleading. It suggested the hotel to be much closer to the train station than it was. This was unfortunate for us as, we had decided to walk from the train station & the road in which San Gallo is on, is a very very long road. However, I would still return as its a very beautiful hotel with excellent staff - I'd just take a taxi the next time.

Very nice, clean, spacious hotel. A little far from the center of town, but we took the bus. Also, we were told we could walk from the train station, but with luggage on a hot day, is would be better to get a cab. We had a problem with the air conditioning and were immediately given another room. Breakfast, bar and services were excellent. The Courtyard is lovely, even with the noise from the cars and mopeds. We would definately stay there again. One lesser known landmark/site that we would recommend is the Instito e Museo do Storia della Scienca (Science Museum)- Piazza del Guidici.

A bit of a walk to where the action. TV could use some more international channels and in-room internet is expensive. On the plus side you get a fantastic room for a reasonable price. Classy, spacious and comfortable. A relaxing haven after a long day in the chaos of summertime Florence.

We had previously read comments from visitors and chose to stay at "The Palace". It was a great location but one needs not to mind a 20 minute walk into the heart of the city. The staff, the rooms and particularly the breakfasts were excellent and we would not hesitate to stay again. Leave your car in the garage and take the Bus Tour!

We had a wonderful stay at San Gallo, and will definitely stay again. The staff is very inviting and friendly, the room and bathroom were very spacious, clean, and luxorious, and the breakfast was delicious. The garden was gorgeous and it was in walking distance of a lot of needs like grocery store, wine store, and drug store. The only complaint one could make is that is is far from the center of town. However, it was a very pleasant and safe 10-15min walk to all the sights, and we had no problem walking. Florence was my favorite city of the 4 we visited, and part of my excitement about this city is how wonderful our stay was. Highly recommended.

San Gallo Palace is one of the very few hotels in Italy that meet "international hotel standards." The hotel staff is very caring. They don't give you that "whatever" attitude, which is a common practice among hotel staff in many European countries. I was in Firenze to attend a trade show and most restaurants were fully booked. One of the staff members (her name was Paula) made numerous phone calls and booked a reservation for me at a very nice restaurant (it took her about an hour!). The room rate was a bit expensive due to the high demand during the trade show, however, the off-peak season rate seemed very attractive. One downside was the shower: it was a bit too small for me. Anyhow, my overall rating for this hotel is A+!

Florence is a relatively small city with most of the attractions and restaurants around the East of the city centre. Whilst this hotel is North of the city it is located by a well known Piazza (which makes it easy to find) and is only 15 minutes walk from the main area in the city. The hotel itself has beautiful roooms and extremely friendly and helpful staff who speak excellent English. We'd certainly go to this Hotel again and would recommend it to friends. Generally speaking I am not the type that will provide feedback on these questioners, but our stay in San Gallo in Florence was excellent. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous, the rooms were typical European seize rooms and very clean. I ended up staying an additional day as a result and would strongly recommend this location to anyone who wants a five star quality hotel at a very reasonable price.

Forget about European room standards, our San Gallo Palace room was first-rate and spacious even by USA standards! The bathroom also was roomy and sparkling clean. And we appreciated the 110 outlet in the bathroom (be sure to bring a transformer/outlet for your electrical appliances -- all of Europe is wired for 220). San Gallo Palace is an elegant and quiet retreat from the bustle of the Central Florence City core, unless you want to be in the middle of all the crowds and bustle. We did wish it was a little closer to the City Center as we hoofed it over there each day. But we would definitely stay here again!! Two blocks away is a great little restaurant, "Alfredo's." Don't miss it!

This hotel was one of the most pleasant we stayed at in our European trip. The staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English and were even interested in where we came from too. The breakfast buffet was a good standard for the price and (as recommended by the hotel) Alfredo's restaurant just 100 metres away was superb quality and value for our evening meals. I would definitely use this hotel again if I was to revisit Florence as access to it was easy and the car parking facilities for the hotel were easy to get to even though they were 200 metres away.

We loved the San Gallo Palace! Rooms were spacious, modern and clean. The staff were professional. We loved the pillow menu which allowed us both to select a different pillow to our liking. The San Gallo Palace was wonderful! We stayed over New Years, and they had a special complimentary cocktail for all of the guests. The bartender is a true gem. San Gallo is a nice boutique-like hotel. The rooms are very clean and brand new. The hotel is quite a distance from the center of town and most restaurants, but if you don't mind the walk (15-20 minutes) and discovering new neighborhoods then it's a great place to stay for the price. The service was fair. I found it a little frustrating at times getting basic tourist information because whoever works behind the desk wears many hats and often was interrupted by the phone or other guests. Otherwise, the hotel was quite pleasant. I would would probably stay at this hotel again.

The staff was very accommodating, also spoke excellent English. Actually, the hotel was much closer to the Duomo and center city area than appeared on the map. Good value, would definitely stay there again on another visit to Firenze.

The San Gallo Palace was by far the nicest hotel of our entire vaction. The rooms were very clean. Each room had internet access however it rarely worked. The hotel is in walking distance to most attractions and the staff was very helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.

This was a awesome hotel. staff was exceptional. The Front desk staff was very friendly . The location was good approx 15min walk to the river. This should have been a 5 star. The room was very large and nicely furnished way beyond our expectations. I would stay here again.

Top! Wer bereit ist, einen Fußmarsch von etwa 15 Min. (One Way) ins Zentrum in Kauf zu nehmen (don't forget the evening) ist hier bestens aufgehoben. Ausstattung eher bei 5*! Breakfast italienisch.

The place is excellent except you should mention clearly the parking is not free because we had to pay 10 euro per day to park the car in a safe garage near the hotel

The hotel certainly deserved a 4 star rating. The only fault we could find was that it was not as near to the centre as we had expected, which wasn't a problem except that it limited you to 2 local restaurants or getting transport if you wanted more choice of restaurants.

This hotel is amazing for the price! It is a ten minute walk from the Duomo, but well worth it. We arrived a few hours early and had no problems checking in, plus they let you store your luggage if you're leaving later. Spotless, bright marble bathrooms. The breakfast (included) is awesome and they have the best coffee I've ever had. Stay there if you can!
