Great location with view over the river Arno. Main road position means some early am traffic noise (did'nt bother us). 10-15 min walk to centre of Florence and all main attractions. Although, the Piazza St Croce is just 5 mins walk away. All staff really helpful with very good English. Some bits of our room 43 paintwork (door, wardrobe edges) needed paint work touching up and I guess the old brown bathroom tiles do not reflect a 4 star rating. However, for us location and view were the priorities, plus a lift for access to the third floor. Breakfast ok, with the standard Continental spread, juice, cereal, rolls, cheese, ham, jams and croissants ect. You can also request expresso and hot choc, but these were not on display. We would certainly return.

Hotel is old fashioned, near the river and the sewage smell is all around the hall of the hotel. Rooms are clean, normal size, linen is good. Bathroom leaves much to be desired. Breakfast is poor Location of the hotel is very good, you can walk to every sightseeing. Hotel is good for 2-3 nights stay

The Ritz is an older hotel overlooking the Arno river on the west end of the city center. The view is spectacular; unfortunately the hotel is rather shabby and needs refurbishing. Rooms are large but the furnishings and fixtures are old and falling apart. It is situated on a busy road and the traffic noise is bothersome even on the top floor. It is located away from the city center and is a long walk away from the sites. The front desk staff was very helpful with booking tour reservations and calling taxis. Breakfast was decent.

It is the second time I went to this hotel and I must say that this time it was horrible. the hotel was being reformed, rooms very clean, noisy ... if not for the location of the hotel sure that many customers would not stay sorry to be so hard but I work in hotels and this is painful

Exceptional location. We got one of the view rooms and it was a phenomenal experience. Location was perfect for tourists who wanted to visit the prominent places. Night view was amazing. There are 2 top and affordable restaurants nearby and one was a recommendation by the hotel staff. The rooms seem a bit old and some rooms are small. But overall it was a wonderful experience. The only negative aspect is that the wireless internet is only available at the reception lobby. Ask for a river / canal facing room. The view is phenomenal.

This was our first time staying here and we were very pleased mainly with the great location of this hotel and with the owner's smiling attitude! The rooms were a bit old but very clean and the breakfast was not too rich but adequate.

Hotel provided great service and a decent breakfast, and we appreciated the free internet access. Location is great for quick walking access to most of the major Florence attractions. While our room faced a busy street, the noise was greatly reduced at night with the wooden blind on the balcony doors. Hotel was right across the Arno River from the Piazza di Michelangelo and a few blocks from the Uffizi Gallery.

Nice hotel, friendly & helpful staff. The bathroom left a little to be desired, though -- had to pump the flush button for 30 seconds before the toilet would flush, and the shower didn't have great water pressure or consistent temperature. Otherwise, lovely.

I missed the last train to Florence and I called the hotel. They were not willing to work with me AT ALL!! Still charged me for 2 nights instead of 1. During tourist seasons they can always re-rent the rooms if they know ahead they have a cancellation. But room was nice & clean & small.

Two rooms and a baby. Lovely view from our rooms. The staff are friendly and speak English very good. They helped us with information needed to get to know the city. We are sorry for the inconvenience for the guests the one night when the baby cried loudly for two hours (period August 26th)

I stayed at Hotel Ritz for 2 nights. The room was quite small for 4 people. The hotel was a bit tired looking but it was clean. It was more like a 3 star hotel than a 4 star hotel.

Hotel has a very good location: on the riverside, walking distance from all the major cultural attractions. Friendly, helpful staff. The room was just OK, window giving in the small almost dark courtyard, not nice view, but very quiet during the night time. For this price it is a good option.

While the location was great, the street noise was a bummer. Slept with ear plugs in. The room tempature was uncomfortably warm (in early Sept.)and we couldn't adjust the thermostat. Plus: unlimited access to internet at computer in lobby. Hotel staff very friendly. Breakfast was your typical yogurt, breads, cheeses, meats, fruits--nice.

The room provided was very clean and spacious and overlooked the Arno river. It was a bit noisy at night, due to the volume of traffic using the nearby road. The only problem encountered was the ensuite shower. There was no cold water supply, making it impossible to use, due to the very warm temperature of the water. I reported the problem after each attempt for a shower, but in spite of assurances it would be repaired, nothing happened.

I stayed at the Ritz a year ago and had a wonderful experience. This time around we had the family suite and there was mold in the bathroom shower and sinks. Also, the shower door was hard to close. It seemed as though the room wasn't renovated as the other rooms we stayed in last year. Just a bit of attention is needed and it could be fixed. Breakfast was good. Staff was friendly. I would stay again if they cleaned it up.

The views from the room were gorgeous! The Ritz is across the street from the Arno River and a short walk to the Uffizi. It is a longer walk to the Duomo and to the train. My daughter and I were pleasantly surprised to see that we had a private patio with table and chairs attached to the room. The room had many modern conveniences; tv,small stocked refridgerator, hairdryer in the spacious bathroom. The personnel were courteous and helpful; patiently allowing me to struggle with my poor Italian, although they spoke perfect English. The breakfast was lovely and varied. They offered coffee, tea, pastries, ham, cheese, fruits, and yoghurt. I would definitely stay there again. It was a delight.

Me, my sister and friend had an excellent stay at The Hotel Ritz. It was close to everything-sites, shopping (we often visited Mario's Gift Shop down the street, very friendly) and EXCELLENT gelato-so very fresh!!! For our next Italian vacation (and there will be one as we missed some sites) we will definitely stay here again and ask for a referral to another hotel in Rome. Our trip to Florence was just leisure and we did relax.

La colazione non è all'altezza, la sala colazione troppo piccola. Le camere sono pulite, ma da un albergo 4 stelle ci si aspetterebbe una maggiore cura dei particolari.

This was by no means a four star hotel. It was clean and the staff very helpful however, the decor and facilities were more on the level of a two star hotel. Room was cramped and decor not uplifting. It needs a major upgrade to become four star hotel.

We were provided with a plug in device to repel mosquitos. All of us - 4 of the 5 people in 3 rooms - received bites or developed rashes in the rooms. The one with no bites slept with the sheets over his head. Rooms were very, very small. Suitcase had to go under the bed.

The room was pretty clean but quite worn. The floors were hardwood but definitely could use a refinishing. The hall carpets were in need of replacement with more modern product. Overall, the whole building could use a modernization. We had a front exposure with great view of the river.

Whilst acknowledging that city hotels can be expensive, this hotel did not meet value for money expectations nor the description on the website. The room was small and poorly furnished and decorated. Service by the staff was very good however this did not make up for a disappointing stay.
