I absolutely cannot recommend this hotel. The rate charged definately overpriced. The staff was not terribly helpful. At one point the staff member was more interested in Skyping a woman in Argentina that attending the desk. The room was very small and the bathroom smaller. The room faced the back of the hotel and was very dark/old.

Great staff, they bent over backwards to help out. The property is older, and past its prime, but the rooms are big, and clean. This was a great location within walking distance to most all of the Florence attractions and the rail station. Our room air conditioner didn't work.

Small but nice hotel. Everything was almost the same as on the web site, almost becuse the room had different furniture as saw at photos. Small bathroom was disadvantage but on the other hand I was afraid of noise from the street, but you don't worry about it beacuse windows are very good and when they are closed there is completly silence and you can sleep well.

The Rapallo offers good value for money considering the general level of hotel prices in Florenece and provided a well located base to explore the city, being only a 10-15 minute walk from the Duomo. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The facilities were relatively basic but perfectly adequate, and the buffet breakfast was generous enough to fuel us for a day's jaunt round the city. Our bathroom had obviously been added to what was originally a very spacious room and did look a bit like a 'Tardis' standing in the corner. But it functioned well enough, although the inclusion of a bidet did make it somewhat cramped and hot water was a little scarce by early evening. However these are minor gripes. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay there.

Let's call it good value for money considering the position within walking distance from the main town attractions and that I paid around €55 per night on a bed&breakfast basis considering that the average 3-star room in Florence would be from €80 onwards. The breakfast had a lot of choice and the welcoming was great.

Hard to find at first, turn left from the station and cross the road, go down the road with Bata at the end of it, and continue, when you go past a park the hotel is on the left, the name of the road changes, so it was difficult to find. For a three star hotel I thought this hotel was pretty good. The bathroom was a wetroom, shower and very small, but for the price of the hotel acceptable. My only complaint was the carpets in the room were a bit gruby, didn't feel like walking barefoot. Everything else was very clean. It was about a 15 min walk (max) from the station and close to everything.

We arrived by train in the dark and rain and a more detailed explanation of where to find you would have been helpful. (Example - exit the station into ..... road - proceed right and you will see the BATA shop - turn left into de Nazionale Street.Walk for ... blocks. Hotel is on your right. Perhaps a bus number to use would have been useful.

Front Desk Staff was EXCELLENT! Very helpful, responsive, willing to provide advice and suggestions. Breakfast was very good, with a wide variety of choices. Hot chocolate was WONDERFUL. Location is walkable from train station...but be prepared for curbs, and small sidewalks. Close enough to the attractions. Excellent value.

It is a nice hotel. Excelent relationship between price & quality. It is very near Santa Maria Novella Train Station. The breakfast is good and it is enough to endure up to afternoon. Rooms (double with bathroom) are very nice, very nice bathroom and bed. It is definetvely a good option. Staff is very, very friendly and they can talk you in Italian, Spanish, English or Portuguese! They will be willingful to help you on your stay at Firenze. Firenze's Duomo is about 10 minutes walking from hotel, though walking this city is a great experience.

It is a hotel that you recommend to your friends. You know they will not be disappointed. Be aware the hotel is located in a busy street. We got a room at the front for us there was to much noise. Upon request we got a more quiet room the next day. We had an excellent stay in Florence.

Unfortunately, the pics and the services described in the website had absolutely nothing to do with the hotel. The room I was initially assigned was extremely small, one of the beds was actually a sofa, the bathroom had no proper shower, just a shower over the toilet, the room seemed not to have been refurnished for ages, etc. I asked the manager for another room and I was changed to another. This new room, though it was better than the initial one, was by no means like the one showed in the website. Breakfast was of a poor quality. I did not have a nice stay in this hotel and definetly will not repeat.

The hotel has airconditioner but was not in service. Because we did not have the A/C we openned the window and it was too noisy outside, that we couldn't sleep. Also, the hotel is far from the train station, walking with luggage was very difficult and the advertisement showed that the hotel was close. Other than these inconvenience, I recommend the hotel.

The staff were really friendly and helpfull, always welcoming whenever we came back to the hotel. The room slightly let the hotel down as it was right next to a shared bathroom which was in constant use, so very noisy. Also the carpets were never hoovered - or looked like they were never hoovered.

I chose this hotel on the basis of other travellers' advices on this site and I should say that the reality surpassed my expectations. Convenient location, pleasant and calm surroundings, excellent and helpful staff. Only reccommendation - some variation of breakfast, e.g. fullcorn bread or cereals, some fruit would be a plus.

Firstly, thanks so much Mauro for your hospitality during our stay. We really appreciated your help in every aspect from train information to tips on where to eat etc. Mauro provided over and above what was expected and we would have no hesitation staying at this hotel if we travelled to Florence again. The staff was very friendly. The room was basic but clean. The bathroom was bad because the toilet was in the same place of the shower. If we went there with our shoes on it would be not very hygienic. If we went without it, we would get our socks/feet wet, as well as our cloths... The breakfast did not have any fruit, just in juice. The location was good, 10 min from the centre. It's a basic hotel but cosy. I would recommend it anyway.

There were a group of students staying on the same level and they were running around and playing loud music for the whole night. The hotel staff tried to quite them down, but that didn't stop the noise. We were also very unpleased with the hotel staff. They were unhelpful, sexist and kept forcing us to join certain tours. The toilet was extremely small to the point where you had to shower next to the toilet bowl. Staying at this hotel was a very unpleasant experience and it ruined my time in Florence.

First I have to mention Lorenzo, he truely went above and beyond the call of duty to help us out with recommendations for meals and how to pick up our car rental and drive out of Florence for Tuscany. The hotel was great and the room fantastic. The breakfast was ample and tasty. The location was close to the downtown area and it was great to walk around in the evening. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone.

Close to train station but a bit further from the old town of Florence but given the great off season value we were very happy with this hotel, its staff and the room that was given us. Nice big bath tub with shower attachment. Old world charm with antique-looking furnishings in ample size room. highly recommended but if notice on door is correct, one might expect to pay much higher rates in the peak seasons.

The room they had put us in was a twin rather than a double, when requested they gave us another room, though very crowded, we did get our double bed. The bathroom was a tiny square that consisted of a sink, toilet and shower head on the wall, so if you were showering, no one else could even use the other facilities, and after the shower, everythihng else was drenched as there was no shower curtain, when the hot water was put on it came out in a small stream in the middle of the shower head, which made for a very frustrating but interesting time.

The hotel was just enough. It´s true that the hot spots are nearby, but the room we stayed in was pretty noisy. It was next to the lift, so early in the morning (from 8 o´clock or so), when it was used we usually woke up. The toilet was ssmall. Overall, as it was the first time i was in Florenze I can not compare it with another one, it was, as I said before, just enough. Breakfast was ok, toast, orange juice etc... My piece of advice is make clear you don not want a room next to the lift.

The only plus is a very large room. The room wasn't very clean and it faced a very noisy street. The air conditioning didn't work, (the manager said it doesn't get turned on till the middle of June). You had to keep the window open with the noise of cars, buses and motorcycles bouncing off the narrow street, or close the window and suffocate in the heat. We checked out after one night and went around the corner to the Donatello which has beautiful quiet rooms facing a garden.

Good accomodation, very close to the tourist area, also close to the main train station. Staff very welcoming and friendly.
