Hotel Principe - Florence
Lungarno Vespucci Amerigo 34 - Florence
877-662-6988Transformed into a hotel in 1955, the villa has kept its original structure and its facade still retains the charm of an old embassy town house.
Set within a quiet walled garden along the river, centrally located yet away from the metropolitan traffic, the property creates a welcoming oasis of tranquillity.
Due to its excellent position, only a few minutes away from the major sights and museums of the city, the hotel offers the possibility to enjoy a vacation dedicated to discovering the wonders of Florence.
Very helpful staff, excellent location & wonderful rooms. I will use this property again & recommend it to others.

This hotel does everything correctly. The staff is warm, friendly and professional. They made excellent recommendations for dinner. The room with the terrace with the view of the water is a must. Their breakfast exceeded expectations. The hotel location is near enough to the sites, yet in a private location. The staff made you feel special as a guest. They made our stay in Florence very memorable and I will recommend them to my friends.

The only problem I encountered here was that the computer which was available to guests was extremely old and slow. However, when I experienced problems the staff assisted me by allowing me to use their computer behind the desk to access my email and print a document.

Our stay at the Principe was outstanding. We requested through Venere and received a room with a balcony/view and a courteous, friendly staff, great location, easy convenience to Duomo, Accademia and Uffizi galleries, Palazzo Pitti (Boboli gardens), Ponte Vecchio, the Santa Maria Novella train station. To Principe from train station - exit train, walk toward shops, exit to the right side shops/station, make right onto street, make first left, and walk straight (with street name changes) to the beautiful Arno River, make left at street/river, hotel on left- 4 - 6 minute walk. My wife and I plan to stay there again. Can't wait to get back.

The hotel is historic and so the air conditioning was not what you would want in extremely hot weather but it was tolerable. The hotel is well situated and very clean. The staff is very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was nice as well.

This is a really great little hotel. Its family run and very classy. Fantastic location overlooking river, really nice rooms with great bathrooms. All you could ask for. It was a really nice place to come back to, after a day looking at all the wonderful things florence has to offer. The staff and management were really friendly and only too happy to assist you. We stayed in a lot of hotels, and this hotel has a special ambience and charm about it. We had a really nice three nights and we would go back there for sure, next time were in Florence.Do yourself a favor, pay the bit extra and have something special...I cant say a bad thing about this hotel...it was really great staying there.

Reception was very cordial and we were given one hour free internate at our room and also were allowed to have breakfast with small tip to the waiters. The hotel location is over looking the river. If you like old fashioned historical building you will enjoy your stay at Pricipe Hotel.

The best place to be in a heatwave. Airconditioned room with balcony overlooking the Arno, and Florence a picture book vista from our room. We could walk to everything when it was cool enough; meantime the Hotel offered respite in both a pretty garden and the bedroom balcony. Bliss.

The staff at Principe was always very helpful. The clerks spoke adequate English and were very helpful with recommendations for restaurants, etc. The room was very large, originally booked as a triple, but the staff was very accommodating when our group grew to 4 people. The room was very quiet and large. There was a lift available if needed. Breakfast was nice. Location excellent, right on Arno...walking distance to everything in historic Florence. Convenient to train station.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Florence. It is a unique place to stay. The location is also brilliant – you are within a short walk of city’s major attractions. Service is friendly and always ready to help. The hotel does not have a breakfast lounge, but it is more than compensated by the generous breakfast brought to your room at the desired time. You can place your order the previous evening. The only drawback of our stay was perhaps the shower water, which was not as hot as we are normally used to. (The cold tap had to be completely turned off)

Would definetly recommend this hotel to others based on the excellent bilingual friendly service received. I was a given a double room that was spacious, very clean and although it faced a busy street in the middle of summer, it was quiet from sound proofing and cool because of excellent air conditioning. The breakfast was a cut above other places where I hàve stayed, and the location is central. Most rooms will come with an excellent view of the river.

I travel frequently to Florence and found the hotel especially lovely and charming. The location on the Arno is wonderful and convenient too for visiting the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio and The Uffizzi. It is also less than 10 minutes walk to the bus and rail stations. Ideal for those seeking somewhere with real character and an intimate atmosphere. The owner was extremely charming and told me about the history of the hotel. I was given a beautiful room which was huge and had antique furniture. I would stay there again.

This is a charming hotel and excellent value for money. The family and staff were very welcoming and helpful with excellent English. The rooms are quite spacious and the hotel is located within walking distance of the Florence atractions and the railway station. I stayed at this hotel on two occasions and enjyed the rooms looking over the Arno and the one looking over the garden. The hotel added greatly to my Florentine experience.

Hotel classicissimo, atmosfera da "Camera con Vista"! La posizione e' eccezionale: sul Lungarno a pochi metri da Ognissanti. Il personale e' cortesssimo ed in 'tinta' con l'atmosfera. The hotel is ina great location, looking over the Arno and walkable to most of Florence. We walked everywhere from this location. The hotel was beautiful but the publc areas all felt like a library, the breakfast room was very quiet and we felt like we had to whisper. Unlikely we would go back because we did not feel we could sit and relax in public areas.

Great room overlooking the River Arno. plenty of restaurants and easy to find being next to the river. 5 or 10 minutes walk to main visitor areas, nice and flat, but paving hard on feet and very busy, with tourists. Designer shops everywhere.

The Bronzi family's hospitality was delightful. Their entire staff was friendly, courteous and very helpful from the service in the hotel to making reservations (restaurants, etc.) in town. I have stayed at many hotels in Florence over the years, but Principe is my choice in terms of location and price. Compare the rates during the low and high seasons---they will not stiff you. When we left just before Easter, they were finishing renovations so future travelers should find peace and quiet as well as a refreshing "new" look to this historical building. As our room faced the garden in the back, it was very quiet. Definitely try to book a room facing the Arno river and the rolling hills.

We enjoyed a room on the top floor having a beautiful small terrace and wonderful view of the Arno river. The ceiling height in this room was low, not as seen in the pictures online (for rooms on a lower floor.) The rooms furnishings were adequate, but not elegant and the small area rugs by the bed desperately needed replacing/cleaning (we pushed them under our bed for our stay.) The spectacular view and lovely terrace made up for the other details. The breakfast area, sitting rooms and garden on the main level were lovely, with beautiful painted murals on some of the ceilings. The friendliness, courtesy and quality of care by the staff were superb! The location of the hotel on the river was exceptional, though it takes a bit more walking to get to the main attractions. Overall, we would recommend this hotel to other travelers who wish to enjoy Florence at a reasonable price!

My traveling friend and I could not have been happier with this facility and would glady stay there again. The pictures do not do this beautiful place justice. The staff was helpful and courteous. Our room was palatial with its ultra-high ceiling, beautiful furniture and very large bathroom with heated, green marble floors. Oh, and there was the crystal chandelier...The room was cleaned well and throughly daily. My only complaint for lack of a better word is that if you must sleep with a window open, do not request an Arno River view. When shut, the windows block out ALL the noise, but when open, the motorcycles seem to run loud all night in the street below, certainly not the hotel's fault. It is just a matter of shutting the window or not. The garden shown in the pictures is lovelier than shown. I nice, quite little oasis. Having an Arno view room, the view was exquisite, especially in the early morning mist. I highly recommend this beautiful hotel. Regards, Laurie in Juneau, Alaska

Small, but excellent hotel in its category (3 to 4 stars, to our taste). Correct breakfast mini-buffet. Facilities to park outside in front of the river (our choice), or even inside (in the garden; I assume with an extra charge). Located outside of the crazy center of Florence, in the lungarno in front of the river. There is a short 15 minutes walk to Santa Maria Novella, and the old-stone-main-axis of the city (S. Lorenzo-Duomo-Uffizzi-Ponte Vecchio-Pitti). Very quiet surroundings, with some (interesting and not very touristic) restaurants at 3-5 minutes walk in via Borgognisanti (back of the hotel). Convenient for a sightseeing visit to Florence, if you travel by car. Relatively easy to find (assuming that in AUG05 some public works were ongoing in the lungarno, and we had to drive through some (quite evident) detour to reach the hotel. Very much warm welcome (assuming we do speak italian). Old fashioned (and cosy) rooms and bathrooms, but all the required equipment was there (bath/shower, hairdryer, minibar,...). A wise choice, not cheap, but at a reasonable overall price.

We loved this hotel it is full of charm and history, it was a home owned by the King of Italy. It was the best part of our visit to Florence. The hotel is quaint and one day will be completely remodeled but we like it the way it is, full of history and charm. and the staff are full of Italian history-knowledge, so try to engage in some Political talk. We would definetely stay here again. Ask for the Kings room.

For the price, this is an excellent value in Florence. If you want a view and don't mind the street noise, ask for a room in the front. If the sound of scooters bother you, ask for a room facing the garden. If the sound of garbage picks ups and motor scooters bother you, stay out of Florence. This is a small convenient hotel with easy access and it is easy to find.

We spent 3 weeks traveling around Italy and this was our favorite hotel. Historic and elegant yet not pretentious, the Principe was our base during 3 separate stays while on vacation. For us it captured the essence and charm of Florence. The location is great, right on the Arno River. It is within blocks of the major tourist destinations yet it is quiet enough for rest. Wonderful eateries for all meals are just a 2 minute walk around the corner. The staff was always courteous and helpful and attended to our every request. The rooms and private baths are large; 3 different rooms we stayed all had a bathtub which is a luxury in many European hotels. There is a lovely quiet garden behind the hotel where you can pleasantly pass the time. We just can't say enough good things about this hotel. The Principe is an excellent value in the off season which is when we stayed there but we plan on making it our Florence destination year round in the future.

A fantastic hotel for the price. Friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful common areas, perfectly maintained. Sleeping room was large and nicely appointed. Bathroom was extremely spacious and attractive. We were helped with a number of museum and restaurant reservations, directions in- and outside of the city. Excellent recommendations for dining. Easy to drive to and private parking in a gated lot. One of the best hotel experiences we've had in our frequent travels around Europe.

This was our first trip to Europe so we did not know what to expect. The hotel was excellent with a great location right on the river. The rooms were clean and comfortably furnished with real furniture, not the usual institutional hotel stuff. Although we did not spend a lot of time in the room, it added to the enjoyment of the trip. The only disappointment and it was a minor one, was the inability to use the terrace upstairs, so we couldn't enjoy the view. Otherwise, the staff was very helpful and their restaurant suggestions were excellent. We had a great stay.
