Amazing location!!! Very clean facility and the common bath/toilet was super clean. All of the staff was very helpful and nice. It's literally a stumble from Piazza Della Signoria and Piazza Della Republica. Cant get a better location than this and at this price.

We are middle age husband and wife. We liked our stay in this hotel very much. You cannot dream of a better location - 30 sec. to Piazza della Signoria! Lapu and Inessa were very friendly and helpful, their English was great. We liked our room on the second floor. It had 2 bonuses: the terrace/court yard and the kitchen (appliances were not allowed to use but the table and chairs were helpful for a home breakfast). The room and bathroom were clean. New air conditioner was wonderful! Will highly recommend to budjet travelers. Would love to return.

We stay in the hotel for one night. It is enough a nice hotel, but where is no toilet in the room. It locates on the floor. In addition, find the hotel was not easy for us, because it locates on the fourth floor of the living house and we did not have any information about it.

As a single female traveler this place was perfect. It is perfectly located between the bronze boar and the piazza signoria. I walked every where I wanted to go in Florence with ease. In addition, the people spoke english and were very helpful with my travels. I had the single with a shared bath. The room includes a shower in the room, you just have to share the toilette. In three nights, I only had to wait for the bathroom one time and it was for only a few minutes. I would definitely stay here again. Great stay for the price.

I really liked the location of this hotel, it truly is in the centre of the city which at the end of a tiring day is a blessing as it really is 'two steps' from the Piazza Signoria. If I were to return to this hotel, it would be for a short break and not a full week or more, as to spend that much time without a TV is too long for me (which is more a comment about me than the hotel). The facilities were clean and they worked; the different people in reception were all very courteous and helpful. And Florence itself never disappoints!

I booked here at the last minute because all the other hotels were full. I had to choose between being further out from the city-center, or having a private bathroom. I went with Hotel Por Santa Maria based on location, and decided that I'd give sharing a bathroom a try. It was PERFECT! We had a shower and a sink in the room and it ended up that sharing a bathroom wasn't a big deal at all. The location was prime. We were able to walk easily all over the city and stop off at the room several times a day to drop off our purchases. The staff was very friendly and incredibly helpful. The room was very clean. Florence is very noisy so I would definitely bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper, but that is not a problem unique to this hotel I believe, so I won't downrate them for that. My only complaint was that while the shower was fine when you were the only one trying to use it, whenever someone else in another room ran the water it seemed to cut our water pressure in half. If you can plan to shower at non-peak times this probably won't be a bother. The only other thing is to make sure you learn how to empty the water from the individual AC units. They fill up after about 8 hours and shut off and we had no idea how to fix it the first time.

It was a great place to stay. The staff, in particular one girl who was working there, were very friendly. It was right in the heart of Florence, therefore there was a general bustling noise outside the window, but actually quite pleasant and didn't stop me sleeping. Only thing I would say, is why not offer breakfast? Italian breakfast is so basic in places usually, surely even just a coffee machine coffee and croisant or something could be included in the basic cost. But other than that everything fine, I had a lovely stay.

Staff simpaticissmo, camera pulitissima.

Location is excellent, but not easy to find hotel and parking place, because there is different system of hausesnumbers in Florence and in navigation. We didn't know, that is nessesary to leave cars key by parking personal - that was surprise for us. We've got small room with shawer and WC - absolutelly enough to sleep there, but more, that we booked. I will recommend to all people, who are able to stay few nights without Hiltons comfort, but in heart of city.

The hotel is excellently situated, right in the centre. My room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. No hairdryer in room but the receptionist immediately lent me one when I asked. My room had a shower in it and I shared the toilet, which was exceptionally clean. No double glazing so a bit noisy at night, but, hey that's Italy!

Location, cleanlisness and staff were all very good. Unfortunately, the room was so noisy during night that I hardly got any sleep. It was a saturday night and after the shouting&singing drunkwards, the garbage trucks arrived in the very early morning. Closed windows and shutters did not help. Too bad, otherwise the place would have been great...

I was very pleased with my stay at Por Santa Maria. The location is within 5 minutes of the Uffizi and the Duomo. Being centrally located the dining options are endless. The rooms were clean and the woman who greeted me at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The only negative point was the noise from the street during the night due to the proximity to Piazza Della Signoria. If you plan on turning in early think twice before booking because the street noise is significant.

This hotel is fine for a one-night stay - I was in Florence on a rail tour of Italy and this was ideal for what I wanted. It is convenient for the station and right in the middle of everything - do not expect it to be quiet! Crowds are milling about in the street below all the time and after I went to bed I was able to listen to a brass band concert! The public areas of the hotel have been recently refurbished, this does not as yet extend to the room I was in which had various interesting electrical arrangements such as a lamp over the mirror which once turned on would not turn off again and I had to unscrew the bulb. Also the shower was not hot. The toilet was right opposite so very convenient though not ensuite. There is no breakfast. This is a very basic one-star hotel, fine for a very short stay and near everything you would want to see in Florence. It is expensive for what it is, bearing in mind I paid the same price for a three-star hotel elsewhere in Italy, but that no doubt is what you expect in the middle of a city like this. I would add that the directions to this hotel were very good - it's down a tiny side alley and I would never have found it without the detailed instructions.

Quite basic, but clean and welcoming. Excellent location right in the centre of Florence. Slight drawback of this is that it can be rather noisy till late at night, and again from early morning with the street cleaners and the setting up of the market stalls.

I don't think it's mentioned that even though you book a room with shower, it doesn't come with a toilet! Major surprise when we got there. Otherwise, excelent room, very spacious. A/C also available but it's those portable units that needs to be drained daily.

Neat and tidy at the 4th floor. Good location but small room and rather noisy till late in the night, the consequence of the location next to the piazza della signoria. Would advise hotel to tourists who explicitly want to stay in the center of Florence. Parking possibility is cheap (10 euro per day) but at 10 minutes walk from the hotel quite a distance if you have heavy luggage

Por Santa Maria was in an EXCELLENT location in the heart of everything. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The only negative was that it was on the 5th floor and the elevator wasn't working so we had to walk all the way to the top with our heavy bags. But other than that it was a very pleasant stay and I would reccommend this to anyone wanting a basic room in an excellent location - the price was unbeatable.

My only complaints are 1) that there was a strong smell of cigarettes in the common area that went into the room; and 2) the noise outside (but I was OK after closing the windows and using AC). In many respects, it would be difficult to find a hotel in a better location. It’s about 1 minute from the Piazza Signoria, 2 from the Uffizi and the Ponte Vecchio, 4 from the Duomo, and so on. The downside of this is that the rooms are extremely noisy and you need either to have good earplugs, or to be a very deep sleeper to get a full night’s kip. That aside, the hotel represents wonderful value for money: the rooms are very clean, the hotel building itself is very elegant (with a really stylish, if slightly small lift), while the hotel staff are just about the most friendly and welcoming people you could possibly hope to meet.

Would definately return. Room was a bit noisy as it was in the centre and the air conditioning machine was ugly with the pipe sticking out the window, but there was a small basin and shower in the room (no toilet!) and the location was great, less than a minute from the cathedral and the Duomo and all the places of interest. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and efficient and the place was impecably clean (communal bathroom also). Would recommend it.

We misunderstood about the bathroom (toilet) not being in the room. The common facility is very central. Instructions about the fact that the 'hotel' is on the 4th floor and how to enter the building were not clear. We arrived at night and were quite confused. However the staff were most polite and helpful, the room was clean and the location was wonderful.

Very good location. If you travel by car - really difficult to find parking (it's common problem of Florence centre). We use underground garage close to Viale della Giovine Italia, 47 EUR for 1 day and 2 nights. No breakfast, but there are lots eating places around. Small and modest room, but if room is with bathroom - it's OK, cos location outweigh all.

I stayed at Hotel Por Santa Maria for a couple of nights in April. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. The hotel is in a great location, literally steps from Piazza della Signoria, the Duomo and Marketo Nuovo. And I'd be surprised if the walk to Santa Maria Novella station is really 15 minutes long, more like 10! This is a small hotel situated on a single level of a building occupied by other tennents. Our room was the only one with a bathroom, the rest are shared. Rooms are noisy but that is common in most Italian hotels. Rooms are old and need repair but staff are great. No breakfast included but if you go to Italy you dont go to eat at your hotel! The hotel is located on the 4th floor and has few rooms, the employees are very nice and will try to help you in anything that you'll need, I came to Italy for a business trip, It's my first time to be in Italy so I needed a room just to put my luggage and to go out and travel and see Florence, so for me it was the best place in the best location and I can't believe that I got it in that price. The staff at Hotel Por Santa Maria are extremely helpful and very friendly. They helped us with driving directions, calling cabs and procuring phone cards. The room was very spacious and clean. We had a shared toilet, but there was a shower and sink in the room. Great water pressure and lots of hot water. There is an elevator, which was helpful with our luggage. Easy cab ride from the train station (10 euros). The room had a nice view overlooking the Mercato Nuovo. The only downside was the street noise at night...pretty noisy for light sleepers. Other than that, the stay was excellent. Single room with own shower and shared bath. Best thing about this spot is the location. Just outside Piazzo del Vechhio, easy and nice walking to Duomo, Uffizi, everything you want to see. Room was clean, simple. Shower was typical small stall in corner. Shared bathroom was clean; didn't have trouble accessing it but I was a bit off-season. Room door lead to the small lobby, and it's not well insulated. I could hear conversations in the lobby (although never disruptive). The staff were extremely helpful. It's better call to the hotel in advance to ask the explanation how to find them. I had the map of the city, which I took being in Florence last time about 4 years ago and I don't know why, but there was no hotel street on the map. So I called the hotel in advance to understand where was it. It was very easy to find the hotel afterwards.

This hotel is a fantastic deal for the price. It is incredibly located--right next to the Piazza della Signora and the Mercado Nuovo, and within walking distance of every main site. Because it is so central, at night the street outside remains a bit loud, so I would recommend it more for people who will be out rather late at night or don't mind the noise. The staff does not speak much English, but everyone was very courteous and helpful. They allowed us to leave our baggage even after checkout while we were still walking around the city. It is certainly no frills--the shower is in the room but the bathroom is down the hall--so travellers wanting luxury might want to look elsewhere, but for a traveller looking for a fantastic deal at a central hotel/hostel, this is the right place.
