First visit to Florence. Lovely lovely city. Excellent location for our hotel, close to Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, Santa Croce, Palazzo Pitti etc. Good value. Staff were efficient, courteous, knowledgable. Reception has had an upgrade so web photos not wholly accurate. Roof-top terrace stunning for breakfast and from 16.30 in the afternoon. Generous breakfast and drinkable coffee! Lovely shower gel. Interesting wine tasting on the terrace in the evenings. Two quibbles - despite evening temperatures being below 15 degrees and many Florentines still wearing coats and boots, the central heating was switched off. Finally as a non dog-lover (it's a long story) I was alarmed and upset to encounter two dogs (albeit on leads) as I came out of the lift in the hotel near our bedroom and again unexpectedly on the roof terrace. Visiting the nearby St. Felicity church saw a family sitting inside with their dog during a service too!

Only having a few days to spend in Florence, we opted for a centrally located hotel, and we were not disappointed with the Pitti Palace al Ponte Vecchio. Situated only a few metres away from Ponte Vecchio the hotel was ideal for forays into the city centre, but was also close enough for us to be able to return for a siesta whenever we felt like it. The weather was terribly hot during our stay (around 40C) and we needed a place to retreat to more than once! The hotel room was quite spacious, clean and quiet, despite being so close to one of the most popular tourist sites in Florence. Breakfast was particularly enjoyable, mainly, I suppose, beacause we were able to sit out on the rooftop terrace and enjoy the view over the city whilst eating 'al fresco'. There was a good selection of food to choose from, including cereals, fruit, croissants, bread, rolls, jams, cheese (I enjoyed the fresh ricotta), ham, etc, all self service, so we had a hearty breakfast before commencement of the days' expeditions. The breakfast room did get busy at times, and although not a problem for us (being fit enough to be able to use the stairs),being situated on the 6th floor, the lift was quite busy during these periods. The only blot to spoil the hotel's copy book was that we found the reception staff rather brusque. They were efficient at their job, and paying the bill and checking out was easy and problem free, but the normal pleasantries (such as 'please'and 'thank you') were often not observed whenever we had to speak to the desk personnel. That being said, we had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel, and would recommend it to anyone.

Excellent location - this hotel is convenient for both shopping and sightseeing. Super market, laundry, post office to send stuffs overseas are near and bus stop for SMN is within 50 steps. Helpful staffs. Staffs at Breakfast rooms are hardworking and pleasant. Room quality depends on when you visit. You might have to compromise to stay at an old room if you stay during high season.

The website shows nice rooms with wood floors, and a beautiful view. We had a small, old and dirty carpeted room, with no view. The fabric on the chairs was all torn and i had to ask the maid to vacumm the headboard, also fabric, because of the dust on it. The rooms are in need of major updating, marks on walls. Bathroom was old but clean. The bed was very uncomfortable. Staff pretended to care but did nothing to offer a better room. I tried to turn on the AC and they said it was not working. Breakfast was ok with a variety of foods. The only good thing about this hotel was the location. I would not recommend this hotel to other adults, maybe younger travelers would not mind the room.

Really busy as hotel is right on edge of Ponte vecchia , but windows are double glazed so we were not disturbed by noise .Had a fantastic stay in Florence , reception staff were busy and quite stressed , but we were patient as we find this is often the case in Italy.

The hotel is a very charming facility with a great look over the city from the terrace on the roof, the service friendly and "italian style" welcoming in all aspects. The minus: for hosting the car in the recommended garage you have to pay 40 euro a day- even when you stay just the last day until noon. That means a third of the room rent you have to pay additional for the car- a bit to high I think

What a superb location. No chance of any parking but you are able to walk everywhere in a few minuts. You fall out of the front door onto the Ponte Vecchio. Pleasant rooms if a little small but nicely done and small but perfectly formed bathroom that is strictly one person at a time. Nice roof terrace for the usual reasonable continental breakfast buffet. A great place to use as a base for the Uffizi and historical Florence. After our three days we were glad to escape to a delicious five star villa out of town for a calm down and a pool but we enjoyed our stay here in the heart of everything.

We stayed 2 nights in the hotel. The rooms are very small but ok. The location of the hotel is fantastic as it is only 5metres from the Ponte Vecchio. However, service is not that good. According to the menu they offer room service till late in the evening. When I asked for it at 8pm they said that the kitchen is already closed and they were not very service-oriented.

The location of the hotel is excellent. It is conveniently located beside the famous bridge, Pont Vecchio, within 2 minutes walk to Uffizi gallary, 3 minutes to the entrance of Pitti Palace, less than 1 minute to many restaurants and cafes. You may also walk to the main train station in 15 to 20 min. You can basically walk to almost all places that you would like to visit as a tourist. But, the streets are busy with tourists from 7 am to close to midnight. I tried to go jogging along the river, but it was almost impossible because of so many people. The hotel has a beautiful terrace for the breakfast to view the town. Our room was on the 5th floor and we could hear the move of tables and chairs from 6:30 am on. If you would like to have a quiet peaceful hotel, this is not the hotel.

My en suite single room was a reasonable size with shower over a bath which gave more room than a conventional small shower cubicle. There was a slight smell of drains in the bathroom but you often can't avoid this in an ancient city like Florence. Breakfast, to a good standard is on the 6th floor in the restaraunt and open air terrace room.Unfortunately the lift is very small for this size of hotel which meant lengthy waits, though not too bad if your room is on the third floor as mine was. Location of the hotel is quite good and close to most of the principal tourist sights.

Generally excellent hotel, good breakfast and great location. My only criticisms are regarding space. I know single rooms are always small but these were triangular. The tiny triangular wardrobe was useless and I had to put my case (where I kept most of my clothes) on the bed to open it. The bathroom was nice but cramped so I needed to come into the room to dry myself. As a change from going into the centre, when exiting the hotel's main door, turn right and walk along the Arno. THen head inwards and upward to Piazzale Michelangelo. There are some good places to eat and have a glass of wine on the way near the old city gate.

Arrived by car, staff was very helpful in unloading, and also registering the licence plate with local authorities due to hotel location, a restricted traffic access area. Location great, right at the Ponte Vecchio. We had a junior suite, very spacious. As anywhere in a city, there is city noise which you can hear in your room, too. Rooftop terrace is very nice. We used the terrace bar and also had dinner there twice. Very nice and friendly staff at the restaurant. Would go back again to this hotel.

Although the Ponte Vecchio seems unfortunately to have become the major attraction in Florence and is usually heaving, the hotel is an oasis of calm, with professional service and clean, good quality accommodation. The bed and bathrooms are on the small side but perfectly adequate. The location is excellent for access to all the major attractions and the view from the rooftop terrace is something not many Florence hotels can match.

We stayed at Pitti Palace al Ponte Vecchio for 4 nights in October 2007. Our hotel room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We had room 319, a junior suite, excellent value, especially for pricey Italy. Breakfasts were excellent;lots of variety-cereal, juice yougurt, fresh whole fruits, cheese and cold meats and endless serve yourself coffee and hot milk. The breakfast room is sunny and bright and has a great view. Service at the front desk and in the breakfast room was professional and helpful. The location of the hotel is excellent. It is close to the sites, shopping and restaurants. If you get a chance, do the Orignial Walking Tour of Florence. ( not associated with the hotel, but an outstanding tour company. The hotel is incredibily close to the Ponte Vecchio, not even 20meters from the end of the bridge. It has a very nice bar upstairs, which is also where you take breakfast, with a very nice view. We were driving into Florence and it took us more than 1 hour to get to the hotel, and ended up parking about 10 blocks away as the parking next to the hotel was busy. If you are driving into Florence, watch-out for traffic restrictions into the center, you might get a fine if you get into the city after 8 or 9am until 7 or 8pm.

We were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to their suite, which is beautifully set on the 7th floor with a terrific view of Florence! If you can arrange for it, it is worth it! We spent the evenings on the terrace with a seranade from the musicians playing on Ponte Vecchio! The room was cleaned daily, and we did not want for anything. The breakfast buffet was great for Italy, with fresh pastries, meats and fruits in addition to cold cereals. The location allows you to walk to the main attractions easily, and close enough to come back for a rest midday...while getting away from the noise of the center. Great location!!! I have been to Florence several times and never stayed at the same place and I must say that this was my best hotel experience in the city. Great location, clean, good service. You can't use USA standards to rate a hotel in a city like Florence. If you can't handle a little noise or an old building don't stay there. If you want to enjoy the city and have a clean, safe, assessable hotel then you can't go wrong with the Piti Palace.

Extremely good location in the middle of everything. Walkable to all of central Florence. Personnel were welcoming and knowledgeable, and extremely helpful.

First impression was a little shock as we expected an old palace, but not a narrow poorely restored building. Then you realise that the main thing - is its location - after all the day walking you need just a quite room and a fantastic view from the roof for breakfast before going to another museum. I suggest it is better stay in the suite on the top floor in order not to leave the room at all :))

The price was higher than average for the 3 star hotels we booked or used on our tour. Service was good but the areas was very noisy all night. Our original reservation was not available but staff accomodated us elsewhere in the hotel.

Ideal location for sightseeing. Friendly staff offered good service. Breakfasts excellent. Traffic noise: room would benefit from sound insulation. The chambermaids were amiable and maintained very high standards of cleanliness. The bedroom carpet was however stained and the bathroom in need of refurbishment.

Excellent location at one end of Ponte Vecchio. Nice view from terraces, but could be nicer if the quality of the breakfast would be better (It may be standard to get no Capuccino for breakfast, but why should one pay 20 EUR for breakfast, if the next bar 5m from the hotel offers all you need for less than half of this price).

The hotel is near the Academia and is very good for visiting all the main art galleries. Its withing walking distance of the station but you need a map (as always in Venice). There are good places to eat quite close and its about 2 minutes walk to the boat stop. It is very convenient and we will stay there again

A very comfortable hotel in a centre location (hence the noise level if open windows). Excellent breakfast buffet with views included! They have done a great job in providing additional quiet areas for guest. 2 seconds to Ponte Vecchio. Another plus - a fruit shop and deli just around the corner! Friendly staff, will definitely stay there again on next visit.

The location of the hotel could not have been more perfect; it was right at the foot of the Ponte Vecchio. Staff was very helpful. Rooms were spacious and extremely clean. We would highly recommend this hotel.

We really enjoyed the night that we spent. It was our first night in Italy and the location of the hotel was perfect, we stepped out of our hotel and we were at the Ponte Vecchio. There are several excellent restaurants down the block and the breakfast at the hotel was the best we had because of the variety of choices and the beautiful view of Florence.

All in all it was fine. If I was pushed for a comment, I would mention that I think the maids should not clean a room until the occupants have left for the day. We returned to our room from breakfast to find a maid cleaning. Nothing wrong with that except that she continued to clean whilst we tried to get ready to go out - to put it bluntly, we were effectively prevented from using the loo. That said, we would certainly return to the Pitti Palace.

perfect location in the center near ponte vecchio, not easy to reach by car because of one way system, free parking outside of the town walls possible, otherways expencive in garages (30 euro/night)delicious breakfast on the 6th floor with beautiful view over the city, our room was rather small and furnished loveless (neon light!) restaurant and cleaning personell friendly, front office personell partly not too friendly, could show more amusement at work, as a whole a good adress to spend some days in the center of the city.

Though the room is smaller by American standards it was perfectly adequate for my needs. The staff was completely knowledgeable and ready to help with any needs. I loved the location, and will be coming back to stay at the Pitti Palace. The breakfasts were exceptional.

Excellent location right near the Ponte Vecchio. You never have to worry about getting lost. There is some noise from the loads of tourists on the bridge which could bother you if you are a light sleeper, but we had no problems. A very pleasant place to stay.

The single rooms are very small. However, they were very clean and well equipped (even a minibar). I was delighted with the reception, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, and the restaurant facilities were great. The price was very reasonable. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

There was a big difference between the photos and reality, the room was much smaller than on the photograph. The hotel was noisy and the room had a bad smell because of the bathroom. We had a reduction on the normal price, which is 220 Euro (!!!). It was not possible, to left the luggage for 3 more hours in the hotel!!

The hotel is in an ideal position but the level of furnishings in the rooms is poor for a hotel in FLorence - in 1 room the minibar did not work for the first 48 hours - in the second there was no propoer hot water.

Excellent location right at end of Ponte Vecchio bridge. Great view over Florence from terrace on top floor. Terrace used for breakfasts and then bar at night. Hotel modern inside and very effective aircon which was a blessing as very hot in Florence during August. Definitely recommend.

We were in Italy for 1 month, stayed at 8 different hotels and the Pitti Palace is the only one we were disappointed with. The room was very small, and although the web page said it was soundproof, we were kept awake every night. We also felt as Americans that we were treated with a forced politeness, while we observed the European guests treated with sincere warmth. We were very disappointed.
