This is the perfect place to stay when in Florence! Pensione Canada is only a stone's throw away from the Duomo, on the same street as San Lorenzo, very close to the market hall, and located in the very heart of the city. We enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere, the more than lovely staff, and the exceptional cleanliness of the hotel. The rooms are light and well equipped, the beds are spacious and comfortable. Best overall quality. This place deserves more than one star. All in all we couldn't have wished for any better hotel to spend the holidays at and will definitely come back next time around. Thank you!

This place was excellent value for money - our room was huge and had a view of the tower, right around the corner from the Duomo, street was fascinating with lots of restaurants and food outlets. Yes there are two flights of stairs, but lots of people walk to the top of the dome and don't complain- travel light! The manager was lovely to us!

Fantastic hotel, brilliant location. The owner is very friendly and welcoming and has great local knowledge on where to find the best food in the city. Our room was lovely, clean and spacious, and our bathroom was large and clean. Really would stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to a friend

Fantastic location right in the centre of Florence. Room above many restaurants which meant it was a bit noisy at night, however that must be expected. Reception very friendly and helpful. Very secure property. Could not get wifi - signal too weak.

The hotel location is fabulous and the rooms very clean, but I would not return because of how the hostess treated us as guests. She would not give you your own key and would huff back and forth to let people in the door. She would not give you the Internet password but typed it in herself. Wifi in general was pretty bad. She scolded me for knocking on her office door at 22:01 to ask a quick question because reception technically closed at 22:00. There is a 1 AM curfew also. She was not pleasant to be around and we basically avoided her at all costs. I would not recommend it to anyone, especially young backpackers.

The location is excellent just a few sec walk from Duomo! The lady in the reception was extremely friendly and helpful, she even let us leave our small luggage after checking out. The room we stayed was small but comfortable and very very clean (the shared bathroom was also spotless). Good value for money. Read the policies as some rules apply for this hotel. I would definitely recommend it.

We had a wonderful stay, the hôtesse was the kindest, she provided useful and accurate information, and spoke fluent English and perfect French. Everything was neat and clean, the rooms comfortable. The location is impossible to beat. Nice restaurants, stores and even supermarkets are not far. The only hiccup was that the Wifi wasn’t working properly, but the city has free Wifi access (including in the Piazza next to the hotel). I would return any day.

Clean, plenty of outlets, Dialetta of the staff was wonderful. If you book this property, demand an interior room. We faced Borgo San Lorenzo and the noise (especially on a Saturday night) was frightful. When we checked in Dialetta advised us to get earplugs...she wasn't joking. There were no internal rooms available. We stayed for 5 noisy nights. Although the pensione was unable to move us or lessen the street volume, the staff was responsive to other needs. Borgo San Lorenzo is now a party street. Enjoy the party but if you choose to sleep above it, get an interior room.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Pensione Canada when visiting Florence. We had a beautiful, spacious room that helped make our stay that much better. It is in a slightly noisier location when the weekend came around, but that is all part of the experience. And while the walls were a bit thin, allowing us to laugh at our neighbor's day long snoring, it was never disturbing. Though we only stayed for a couple of days, Pensione Canada was the perfect location when visiting Florence. Not only is the Florence Cathedral literally at the end of the block, just about everything is in walking distance. We got our money's worth in our stay here and the woman running things was sweet and wonderful! I would highly recommend it!!

Excellent location, especially at this price, a few steps from major sites although remarkably quiet. Spacious rooms, everything clean. Manager reacted defensively to our questions and comments on our arrival, but was somewhat more at ease later. But if you want a clean, quiet well-located place close to sites in Florence, consider this one.

Don't stay in this horrible hotel!!! This should be the worst hotel I've ever stayed in Europe. The hostess/owner was terrible. The service was quite poor. They only accept cash not credit card. And restoring the luggage is not allowed here. First, she asked us not to ring the doorbell twice. She told us there was no wifi in the room, but we saw the internet service machine in the reception counter!! She was quite rude, did not want to give out the internet connection information nor would she be willing to type it in herself as she did the first time. Also, the worst part was you are always on camera being watched!!! We could look across sun and see the camera screens she was watching you on. It was disgusting!!! You can't walk around the common areas without her running out of her room and asking what you were doing and what did you want. There was a curfew put into place and she had to buzz you in and out of the building and pension. The entire place was under lock and key, it felt more like a jail then a hotel or pension. It was like the horrifying movie "Hostel"!! The room was extremely small with poor facility. It looks like there are only few people stay there because the hotel seemed gloomy and terrifying. We really need a help to download a reservation letter from the internet but she just say NO NO NO! No matter my friend say pay for it or ask for a favor, all we got is the answer NO NO NO!!! It was really the most awful stay in this hotel with the bad service.

The cleanliness of the room and the shared bathroom were perfect! However the last time for entering the hotel from outside is 1 am! If you are young and wanna stay out; do not prefer staying in this hotel. In addition every going out from your room to Florence streets, u have to quit your room keys to the receptionist. It is ridicilous too. But the staff is very nice and if u are calm and want to sleep, choose this hotel.

Amazing gem of a hotel. The host was very pleasant polite and helpful. We thought the value for money was excellent, so close to the Duomo and right in the centre. The room was spotlessly clean, bright light and spacious. The shared bathroom was also spotless. The Duomo bells are loud in the morning but we thought this added atmosphere and culture to our room, woken each day by a medieval tradition is priceless. Of course you can doze off again until the Duomo does the snooze reminder half hour later! I also appreciated the security of the hotel two electrically controlled doors and out keys looked after was very reassuring as the area is rife with pickpockets I felt safe staying here. All in all a fantastic, safe, cultural, good value and spotlessly clean hotel and all this is one star how amazing, I've stayed in many four stars that don't even come close to the high standards of the Pension Canada Hotel. Thank you dear lady we will be back!

We only stayed 2 nights but had a wonderful time. The hotel staff was absolutely lovely and gave us loads of tips for good restaurants, pizzerie and gelaterie to eat out - and good they were! Our room was small but extremely clean, with a shared bathroom which was also always very clean. The location is ideal, 2min from the Duomo. It is easily reachable on foot from the train station. I only have praise for this hotel and will certainly go back if I return to Florence.

Bingo!!! Pensione Canada is the type of accommodation I would be happy to find in other cities as well. Perfect location, very clean, simple and functional furnishing, welcoming atmosphere, competent and caring hosts. It is on the first floor without the elevator, but if this is too much for you, you are in the wrong city - the Cathedral dome, City hall tower, churches on the hilltops - all await with many more steps... Very spacious and clean bathroom (shared between three rooms) was always available. Our room had a door to a small green patio and was very quiet. Excellent value for money. If you are coming with a car, you can park in the nearby garage (ask your host for the assistance - you will need a reservation to be able to get there by driving in the restricted area). Garage for a simple car is 24€ a day. I would come back to Pensione Canada if/when I'll have a chance to visit Florence again, and am going to recommend it to all my friends.

We were staying in the room with the private bathroom, everything was falling apart and broken. The shower kept overflowing because the drains were clogged and it was not a pleasant stay because you were not able to address these issues with management because she was so rude and uninviting. The only upside was the private room was spacious, but which was good because you were locked up and under surveillance. Would highly NOT recommend staying here. Talked to other couples and persons staying in other places in the area and they did not have any of the same issues. Definitely avoid if you want the freedom to enjoy your vacation and Florence. We stayed three days and it was three days too long and certainly the low point of our European vacation.

When we had read about Pensione Canada most of the revues mentioned the stairs (lots of them). There are quite a few stairs but we had just come from Cinque Terre, and then went to Sorrento. Although Pensione Canada is not a hotel but more like an apartment it has many good properties: (1)situated on the short street Borgo San Lorenzo beginning at the Cathedral Place and ending at the entrance of the church San Lorenzo and surrounded by many good cafes and restorans; (2)our room was kept wery clean, it was also the most spatious among the few rooms, we had a shared bathroom but had no problems with neighbours, it was also quiet and before closing the window we could cast a glance up to the illuminated bell tower, the most beautiful in the world; (3) the owner was very friendly and ready to help (I had problems with my swollen finger that needed hot bathes with medicine every day), (4) the room price corresponded to our modest budget. To reach your room you have to rang the bell at the entrance (the door opened always in less than 10 seconds) and then to climb to the second floor, that is the only nuisance for elderly guests, our neigbours were all younger about half century as compared to us).

Very very bad experience. There is only one WC in the whole hotel, you have to wait for very long time, epically in the morning. Very noisy. Only 2 stuff, one is an old woman, the other is older, may her mother. Very stingy and tortuous. You cannot left luggage after check out. Never change towel. There is nothing about shower, even a piece of soap. Always keep her eyes on you and what you are doing, such as you occupied the WC for too long. Very high and long stairs, no lift.

The room and bathroom were spotless, the bed comfy, great shower and lovely big fluffy towels. The lady in charge was so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. A hair dryer was available for use. I had a room at the back, so it was very quiet. I could hear the church bells ringing in the morning, which was lovely. Lack of a/c wasn't a problem, as it wasn't too hot when I was there. There was a large fan in the room, which I'm sure would have helped if it had been hot. All in all, this was a great value pensione in a brilliant location. I'd be happy to return and to recommend to others.

Gestori gentili, educati e competenti. Locale rinnovato e pulito, a 30 metri dal Duomo in una via ricca di negozi e ristoranti. Il rapporto qualità-prezzo è stato oltre le aspettative. Consiglio vivamente

Nice and quiet pensione in the centre of Firenze, very close to the Duomo. We stayed there for 4 nights and the lady in the reception was really kind. Totally recommendable!

I cannot put in words how incredibly satisfied my fiancée and I were with the Hotel Pensione Canada. It is located right in the center of Florence, not more than 200 meters away from Santa Maria del Fiore! The rooms were perfectly tidy and well kept, the bathroom always clean, the atmosphere quiet, charming and welcoming, and the staff more than friendly and helpful, well capable of speaking English. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Florence, it was a wonderful experience!

Last day of the stay they don't keep the luggage, you should put them to the storage of the railway station, with an extra cost.

We spent our honeymoon in Florence and we stayed at the Pensione Canada. It is a clean, beautiful, peaceful and welcoming place, and over all, very centrally located (near the Duomo and San Lorenzo church). The lady we spoke to was very nice and gentle.

Located on the second floor of an apartment building on a centrally located street - between the Market and the Duomo. Warm, friendly staff, basic room, spacious bathroom right next to the room in the hallway. Our room was on the quiet side of hotel, with a pleasant courtyard view. Table fan provided.

Good location and clean room. However, when I pay extra for a private bathroom I expect the bathroom to be in my room and not across the hall which is accessed with a separate key. Also, not a fan of a curfew while on my vacation - if you were out later than 1 am no one would be around to let you in the hotel. I asked for an plug in adaptor and was not given one because they had got ripped off before. I can understand that however a simple solution to that would be to charge a refundable deposit - very inconvenient. I would not stay here again because of those reasons.

The Pensione Canada is perfectly situated between the Duomo and the Saint Lorenzo Church. Although its central location, our room was very quiet and clean. We had a great time staying there and our host was very kind and friendly and gave us some insider tips for nice restaurants and locations in the city of Florence. It is a highly recommended place to stay.

We had a wonderful stay at Pensione Canada. Our hostess was extremely helpful and friendly and fluent in French and English. Our room was immaculate as was our private bathroom. The location was half a block from the Duomo and could not be beat. I would definitely recommend this Pensione to anyone staying in Florence. Only one precautionary note, as typical in very old buildings in Italy there is no elevator and quite a lot of steps to the third floor. Those who travel with loads of luggage or are unable to ascend/descend stairs would find the lack of a lift challenging.

We had a wonderful stay in Florence, largely due to our wonderful accommodations (Large bed and private shower/shared toilet). Everything about the place exceeded our expectations! Thank you so much Diletta for all of your kindness and recommendations!

Pensione Canada is a perfect hotel if you're looking for a cheap and clean place to sleep while you explore Florence. It's not high on luxuries, there's no wifi, and there's a 1 am curfew, but the location couldn't be better and all of the staff was fantastic and friendly. I'd highly recommend it.

In general, room was spacious and very clean. Shared bathroom too small! And very important information you had to be back at the Pensione Canada before 1am. as owner/ lady on "reception" is going to sleep and closes main doors. Also every time when you are leaving the room for sightseeing you need to give your key back - bit strange as when you are on holiday you do not want someone else dictate you what time you have to be back....

We really enjoyed our stay here. The host, Tina, is a very nice person and we really enjoyed her company. She is very friendly and has kept the place neat and clean. The place is not even 200 meters away from the Duomo. I would recommend people to stay there keeping in mind that it is not a B&B. Tina is a good host and she gives good advice on where to go and where are the best spots to eat.

Great location but very noisy streets around. Nice welcome in French, very clean room and bathroom however the bathroom was located really far away from our room, we had to cross the reception and then living room to finally get to our shared bathroom, not very convenient.

The cleanliness and close proximity to il Duomo, could not make up for the rudeness of the woman manager and climbing the stairs to the high second floor. We asked the clerk checking us in if there was WiFi(we had been traveling 3wks in Europe). After he tried calling he said there was a problem with the password and he would try again. Later that night when we asked again, a woman manager indicated there was no WiFi and that the clerk had been wrong. That he knew nothing and that he was not in charge of anything. She proceeded to verbally accost us and correct our "misunderstandings" of the Italian way of doing things. We ended up going to an Internet Cafe late at night amidst all the pickpockets in the area so we could get our vouchers to see David the next day. READ the WEBSITE! NO WIFI!

Excellent position in city center, very kind owner, very clean, brand new furniture, quiet room (mine was on the rear), very interesting price. Very good value for your money, provided it's not a problem for you that you have to pay cash, you have to climb up to the second floor by stairs and you have to be back at night within 1 o clock.

Location is perfect, just 100m to the dome. The owner is very nice and helps you with everything. It`s a very safe place. The rooms are very big and very clean. The only thing that is not perfect is the noise from the street at night. But you have to decide if you like to stay at a quiet place or to stay very central.

Excellent pensione with clean, beautiful rooms and comfortable beds. The only drawback is that it fronts onto a busy (pedestrian only) street and the hotel rooms have single pane windows that let all the noise in. Otherwise this is fantastic value.

I spend three beautiful days in Florence and I have to say thank you also to "Pensione Canada". The room was clean and the space was enough for me and my friend. The position of the Pensione was excellent (near the Duomo)and all the main monuments could be reached easily! The staff was very competent, friendly and helpful, the sensation has been that of being at home!

Right in the middle of things so super convenient. Of course there is a bit of street noise but the windows are very good for soundproofing - we did not need air con - don't know how it would be in August. Plus things quiet down fairly early. Staff is great.
