The entrance doesn't look nice until you take an elevator to the 4th floor. Here you arrive in the lobby, a bit old but very charming and clean. no parking at the hotel + 24€/24h big rooms, clean, good matress, but noisy until 1AM. breakfast very simple (bread and croissant(very good though), basic ham and cheese). American coffee, no expresso, no capuccino. A little desappointing for an italian hotel. Location is perfect for shopping, visit and restaurants. good spot I recommend.

I've stayed at the Pendini before and love the location and the price is unbeatable. It could use a bit updating. We asked and was given a room overlooking the piazza. One staff person was abrupt when asked for information, but the others were quite helpful. The breakfast was very nice. One thing:although the hotel has a lift, be sure you reserve a room on the same floor as reception. I have a problem using the stairs and our room was down a flight, but no access to the lift from that floor. Each time we came and left we had to take the lift to reception, walk a long hallway, and then 2 small flights to our room.

As the Pendini is situated right in the very center of Florence I was very happy to go and come to the hotel during the day and I felt well to come home at night, too - something very important for a woman! YT,Switzerland

The hotel's location was superb. We had a room near the front desk, so we could overhear some transactions. The bathroom was so tiny that the shower's drain was less than one floor tile from the foot of the toilet, but there was plenty of hot water. Wi-fi was an additional charge, and only good for one laptop per room. Although there was quite a variety available at breakfast, it was not especially tasty.

Superior location, within walking distance of everything (even for my elderly mother). The room was accomodating and large for 6 of us so having a place that fit us all was great. Hotel was serviceable and as we did not spend much time in it, it was great for our purpose. We had a few maintenance issues (heater wouldn't shut off on 70 degree day....they did work to get it taken care of...and one tv didn't work). The hotel needs basic maintenance (such as wallpaper peeling repair). Internet was accessible. We had to find parking in the street. Overall it was servicable. We were satisfied and although I might price other places next time, wouldn't have any problem staying there again.

The breakfast room was the real surprise. Sit at a table near the window. You can fully appreciate where you were sitting when you stand in the street and look up. Walking distance to almost everything.

the only good thing about this hotel is the location... the location is great. even the service of the hotel staff was great, but the hotel itself is horrible. its very very old!

The rooms were of deteriorating quality: there were cracks in the ceiling, the bathroom was extremely unpleasant (there was no shower enclosure), and it had the feel of a college dormitory. The room was frigid in temperature, especially the bathroom. I am perplexed that this hotel was rated three stars. The elevator is very confining, as it was difficult for it to hold even four people without any luggage.

The hotel staff was incredibly kind and very helpful. This hotel was recommended by Rick Steves, and the location was fantastic. The hotel was in the Piazza della Repubblica, which is a great location in Florence. The hotel interior was pretty in a classical way, but was a bit worn down. For 100 euros a night, our room was the size of a shoe box an was very cold. The bathroom was also tiny, but not bad for Italy. Our queen-size bed was two twin beds pushed together, which did not make for a great night's sleep. There were stains on the carpet, and the tv was pretty small. Also, the furniture was worn. Would I recommend staying here? Maybe. The location is ideal, but the hotel was average at best. I thought it was expensive considering we were there during the low-season at the end of November.

Room needed redecoration. The toilet did not flush on the first night so we had to use a 'public' toilet (not good for the first night of a honeymoon!!!). Breakfast was unimaginative and poor quality. On the other hand, the hotel is superbly located and the staff friendly and helpful.

The hotel was very nice, employees very helpful and friendly, rooms were very clean. The hotel was in the heart of the city and it was very easy to walk to most attractions. The hotel provided a very nice breakfast that was included in the price of the room. I would stay at this hotel again without hesitation.

Our room faced the Piazza del la Republica and was excellently located. The staff were efficient and friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and one of the better ones we had in Italy. My only problem was for senior adults, it was difficult to climb into large tub to use shower. I would recommend this property to "everyone", which is an entry that should be included below.

Wow! Perfect location--we walked everywhere! Literally a 10-minute walk from the train station, 15 minutes from the Accademia, and less than 10 minutes from the Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio. We booked a double for our first night and a triple for the second, since my husband was joining us on the second night, but they graciously gave us the triple for both nights, while charging only the double rate for the first night, so that we wouldn't have to change rooms. Front desk staff spoke perfect English and were most helpful. Internet point was wonderfully convenient! I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Florence!

we were allocated a room that was OUTSIDE of the hotel. As far as I am concern it was not safe..... it was required to open an external door go through a dark room to get to the hotel..... thre was noise and we were not even sure what was going on we had problems with the lights, etc... What would be your opinion if similar things happened to you?

The employees are not welcoming at all and the global decoration of the hotel is very old. Please note that a parking is not included in the price and that you cannot park in the center of Firenze (the parking offered by te hotel costs 24 euros for 24 hours minimum). The comfort of the rooms depends from one room to another (our shower was only a small one and the water went in the whole bathroom). However, globally, the room was clean and comfortable.

We do not recommend this hotel. The only two good things we can say about it, is that it is located well in Florence and that the hotel has a nice ancient touch. Besides that, we DID NOT like the service we got from the hotel owner and do not recommend this hotel. When we were in Italy there was a public transportation strike exactly on the day we were supposed to arrive to florence and to this hotel. Desperately, we called the hotel to say we might not be able to get to the hotel because the trains are on strike, but the hotel owner notified us that this is not his problem and that he will charge us anyway for the full reservation. Luckily, despite the strike, our train was the only one to leave from Venice to Florence that day so we got to the hotel on time, just to find out that the hotel charges 20 euro a night for a baby crib. We WERE NOT notified about this by the hotel when we made the reservation, this was not stated in the hotel information on Venere and the hotel owner did not state this in the confirmation e-mail he sent us. We stayed in several hotels in Italy and were never charged anything for our 10 month old baby! The hotel owner claims that he charges full price (as an adult) for babies from 1 year old, which is totally outrageous! We payed for the room upon arrival (also unusual, you usually pay at the end of your stay in a hotel), so generally we got the feeling from the hotel owner that he is kind of a "show me the money" guy. Besides this, the hotel is filled with NOT TO DO signs all around: "no eating in the lobby", "no taking fruit from the breakfast room", "no making any changes in the computer open to guests (for internet) or there is a 200 euro fine" (and what if i am sight impaired and need to enlarge the fonts a bit?) All these signs give you a feeling that you're in school. All in all, do not recommend this hotel due to bad service given to us by the hotel owner, seems he is just tired of guests, and with the crib, it was expensive.

Phenomenal location! And we loved staying in place with a "Room with a View" era provenance. Our rooms were huge. We ended up with a whole other connected room we didn't even use. The bathroom was modern and spacious. We had no view, but didn't spend any time in our rooms anyway. The desk personnel were very helpful at all times and in all ways. It was great to be so close to the Duomo, Uffici and Ponte Vecchio. Lots of good restaurants and even where we had to turn in our car wasn't far away. Get ready for a very small lift and enter on the side street and not the plaza. We'd stay here again.

Superb location in central Florence. We stayed in two different triples, both spacious and with tall ceilings, one on the Piazza, the other facing away. We enjoyed the view on the Piazza even with noise from the piano bar until midnight. Good service, adequate breakfast. There were quirks of an older Hotel (frayed wall paper, quirky shower in one room, odd entrance to the Hotel) but if you can tolerate those kinds of things, Pendini is an excellent value. We enjoyed our 3 nights there.

We could not have picked a better hotel for our stay in Florence than the Hotel Pendini. The location was excellent - near the duomo, Ponte Vechio bridge, restaurants, shops, etc. Right on the Piazza de Republica it was perfect. Very romantic. The room was very spacious and had a 4th floor view of the piazza. Although we could hear noises from the piazza, including a bar piano, this was fine with us - wonderful ambiance. We would definately stay here again. Can't say enough good things about the hotel.

This small pensione is in one of the best locations that one could want for a visit to Florence. We parked the car (24 Euro per night; secured parking) and were able to either walk (90% of the time) or take public transportation to any site we wanted to visit. The hotel staff provided suggestions to make Musuem and or site visits more easy and enjoyable and provided reservations at recommended local restraurants so that we had no problems getting good tables. My wife and I also had our Cocker Spaniel with us and she was greeted with affection and treated with love and respect throughout our stay. If one wants to be centrally located I can think of no better place than Pendini. Their front desk in on the fourth floor, but there is a lift so this is no problem. The markings for the desk however do not direct one well. So 4th floor!

Nice hotel with excellent location, but the entrance from the street was scabious. Our stay here was great. The location is very central and was ideal for shopping and restaurants. All the main attractions were within walking distance. The hotel is a 10-15 min walk from the train station. It was a safe hotel (it was the only hotel we had in Europe that used an access card rather than a key and had a locking closet within our room for our luggage). The shower was a bit small as it was just a curtain that separated you from the toilet and sink, but ended up being quite functional. Overall, it is an expensive city to stay in, but we felt this was a fair price for the location and quality of room.

If you want to visit as many as possible places, museums, monuments, in the heart of Florence then your choice of Pendini hotel is the best. The view offered while taking breakfast is amazing. The rooms' design is impressive. Furniture is of renaissance type. Keep in mind though, that reaching this hotel is rather hard. You need a taxi to drive you there, even if your car has a GPS. The hotel uses only the 4th floor of the building and this may confuse you. You will find the reception on the 4th floor! But if you get familiar with this, then you are free to enjoy a very good stay at the hotel, in the very center of Florence.

They even made reservations for us to go to some of the museums/galleries around. They also have one computer with internet access that guests are allowed to use and I found that very helpful. The breakfast was also the best we had during out trip and the location of the hotel is great. This hotel smelled like ass. In all seriousness, it smelled absolutely atrocious. It smelled like a sewer. We were forced to keep our bathroom door closed at all times, and we had to hold our breath whenever we ventured inside. Fortunately, the cleaning people decided to leave the door open when they cleaned, allowing the distinct odor of human filth to re-pollute the entire room and all our belongings, particularly the super-bouncy twin beds pushed together and masquerading as a “double” bed. You know we were thrilled about that on our honeymoon. The smell seemed to be coming from the black mold covering the bathroom ceiling. We were also treated to constant banging that seemed to be located directly above our room. This sound began at 7:30 am and persisted throughout the day. Even if the hotel were not under construction, the walls were so paper-thin that any kid running through the halls seemed to be in our room. This hotel does have two small pluses: a great location and free Internet access. However, Florence has tons of well-located hotels, and the computer was often occupied by 12 year old Canadian boys playing around on MySpace. Besides, I would happily pay at an Internet café to avoid smelling like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The “free breakfast” hardly qualified as an amenity: rock-hard rolls, slimy lunch meat that was certainly weeks old, chalky yogurt, and warm orange juice didn’t exactly provide a dynamite start to the day. Please don’t stay here. For the love of God, please don’t stay here.

Hotel is very difficult to find if you are driving. Driving in Florence is a nightmare!! The hotel is on 4th floor (5th floor in USA since European buildings start out at ground floor then 1st floor is up a flight of stairs) We were in a family suite and had to exit the hotel on 4th floor go into a common stairwell shared with a school (but you can't use these stairs) to get to our room. They gave us another key to enter hotel from our room.

The hotel is located on the 4th floor, which is hard to tell from the descrption and pictures. But it's at a very covenient location - heart of Florenece. It's within minutes to all major meseums, landmarks, points-of-interest. But, it would be nice if they provide wireless access as opposed to one access point - their computer. It was the first time we stayed at Hotel Pendini and we were fully pleased. The location is excellent, situated just a few hundred meters from the Duomo. Breakfast is quite good for an italian hotel, serving rolls, sweet pastries, cornflakes, orange juice and tea. The interior is very stylish and the rooms are very huge. The only disadvantage of the hotel is the noise from outside. Some rooms have windows showing to Piazza Repubblica, which gives a great view but has the effect that you have music and people talking until 12 pm. If noise is no problem for you I can just recommend this hotel.

I've stayed in Florence a few times, but never quite as centrally as this. For the price, the value is excellent. The rooms were far bigger than other hotels I have stayed at (at at marginally more cost). The location was fantastic as well, absolutely in the centre. On the downside things were looking a little faded and the nights can be noisy being so central. For me these downside were well worth it though. Looking round, you'd have to spend a lot more for a quieter hotel with similar size rooms (and views).

The hotel was well located. I was pleased that I had asked for a quite room and was given one. However, the rooms on the lower floor were not very accessible and would have been difficult if you are not mobile. The bathroom could have done with some refurbishment. Only breakfast was served in the hotel, but we did not have difficulty finding excellent restaurants in the area.

Having stayed at the Pendini before, we knew what to expect - a very centrally located, older hotel in a noisy location with reasonable parking arrangements (24 euros a day - yes, that's pretty reasonable compared to other hotels). The rooms are enormous and so was the bathroom, and the public areas are a welcoming respite from full days of walking around the city.

I stayed here two nights while in Firenze. I was able to keep my bags here while I wandered around the first morning. The location was perfect, right on a piazza where there was a lot of shopping, a block from the movie theatre and a night club, and only a couple blocks to the Duomo, Uffizi, and other great sights to see. The room was clean and bigger than many other single rooms I have stayed in in Europe. Breakfast was good, situated in the arch of the building, looking straight down the street. The staff was very friendly and gave helpful recommendations.

I was on holiday with 8 family members aged 70-s to 20s. The hotel probably is best descibed as faded glory. Breakfast was fine, rooms were clean in the right places but thick with dust everywhere else, eg. bedside lamps etc (dont know what that's about - lazy cleaner?) There was also a dreadful periodic smell of drains in one of our rooms. Fantastic central location though, so we had a great time seeing everything. Not the best hotel I ever stayed in, but not the worst either - free internet use was welcome by youngsters. Staff very helpful.

When I first checked in, I was offered a dark room facing the inner court-yard (even though I had asked for a room "with a view") with big stains in the ceiling and a not so nice bathroom. It was also very, very noisy. The next day I asked if I could change rooms, and was given a very nice and sunny room, facing the street, with a newly renovated (?) bathroom that even had a tub. It was still noisy, but such a big change from the first room. If I had not been offered the change of rooms I would have been very disappointed and would have thought that the price was too high (hence the "9" for "quality vs. price" in the questionnaire). As it turned out, however, I was very pleased. Breakfast was very satisfying and served in the most beautiful room and housekeeping was excellent. Also, the hotel had the most perfect location. I am very, very pleased with my stay at Hotel Pendini!

We would return to this hotel for sure. The location of the hotel was supreme! Some might be bothered by the noise fromt he Plazza della Rebulplica, but we loved it. Hearing the opera singer from our room was gret. It was so nice to be in such a central location to everything. There wasn't anything that we couldn't walk to (all museums, churches and sites. The other big plus for us was the free computer with internet access in the lobby. Breakfast was very good and filling. The only downfalls with the hotel itself was that you had to go up and down stairs to get to different floors. For some reason the elevator was blocked on these floors. Also, the tile in our shower was very stained. I'm sure it was clean, but just didn't look as clean as it could. The last thing we have to share isn't about the hotel itself, but the restuarant in the Plazza della Republica itself called soemthing like Gabbe Rossi. They were VERY rude and had the slowest service ever experienced. We had to ask mulitple times for simple things like drinks and napkins and at least 35 minutes for our check (even after asking for it).

nice hotel & great location - close to almost everything you want to see. We arrived by train. Before arriving, I emailed the hotel to ask how to get there from train station. They recommended to take a taxi, but said it would take about 15 minutes without luggage. We, a family of six with little luggage, decided to walk. It took less than 15 minutes, including finding streets on the map. Elevator is small, it can take about 3 people, but understandable in a historical building. We will go back.

They were very welcoming and helpful. The location is perfect I would definately come back here, the rooms were also very clean. The only minus was the shower in a very small bathroom - It was difficult to get in and out of because of the plastic panel which opened inwards when you're in the shower so not leaving much room for manouver. The price in Euros there was a bit more then the quoted price in pounds.(+-£6)
