Being right in the central of the city it made outing easier as we could come back middle of the day for refreshments. We must thank the hotel management for offering assistance which was not part of the normal business. They made extra effort to deliver our forgotten belongings to our next destination. It shows they really value their customers. We shall never forget this place.

We booked and paid for a superior room. upon arriving the room was not fit for use, a strong overpowering moldy smell. which when we reported it to the reception, we were moved, however I got the distinct feeling that this was a "know" problem and they "thought" it had been fixed. We were moved to a smaller room (not a superior room) Would not recommend staying this in hotel. Have stayed in numerous other hotels in Italy, who are more friendly, helpful and cleaner establishments.

In general I liked being in Hotel Palazzo Benci however there are some points that were not so good. For example in our room we didn't have internet so we had to stay in the living room our outside the room to have connection. The bunkbed was a quite small, but the rest was good and the staff was very polite.

Outstanding location, convienient for sightseeing and bus/train stations (without feeling as though you are staying next to the station), makes it easy to return to the hotel during the day to change clothes, drop off shopping, use the bathroom etc. Lovely breakfast buffet with cereals, yogurt, cheese, bread, a huge selection of pastries, ryebread, crackers, pate... The breakfast room still has a medieval wood beam ceiling, and frescoes are still visible on the facade. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Close to all major sights n staff made reservations for Uffizi and Academia which was good. All staff very friendly n helpful. Breakfast was okay but would have liked some meat and cheese.

Very nice breakfast room overlooking Medici Chappell and very nice breakfast with yogurt, cheese and fresh pastries. Rafaella grew up in this palace and is a gracious hostess. She provides good maps of the city and knows a lot about the sights and shopping. There is someone at the desk 24 hours and an elevator.

Sep 2012 - We had an excellent stay for 3 days. We loved our room, the breakfast and the brother and sister team running the hotel. Our only negative was that it was very hot while there and the room air conditioner is old and didn't cool the room. We had to open the window and the street noise kept us awake. The Hotel was full so no other room was available. However, it didn't spoil our stay. We loved the location, the hotel, and the staff and recommend it. For the price it is exceptional!

Good location, old room, tiny shower booth, no consideration for guest They rejected to store my bag when I arrived at 10am and they didn't advise what could I do. Just told me come back later at check in time(2pm). I had been looking all over station for 'left bags'.

The room was not large enough for two people if they were as big as sumo-wrestlers, but for me, it was good enough. The lady at front desk(probably the owner of the hotel) was helpful. Breakwast was not very good, but excellent location, affordable price, professional staff, and clean room were all satisfying.

A great hotel in a perfect situation.. in walking distance of all the major sites and of the railway station. The Medici chapel is opposite, there are two markets outside and many good restaurants. The reception staff were exceptionally helpful, always ready to give advice on getting around. The hotel has spacious lounges with access to a pleasant courtyard. The breakfast is served in a beautiful light room with an original wooden carved ceiling. Our room was rather small but comfortable and adequate for our purposes. It was very quiet as it faced onto the courtyard. We would certainly go to Pallazo Benci again!

This was our first time in Florence and we had a great experience at this hotel. We are a family of 4, and my only discomfort was that the room was quite crowded for four people. Also the air conditioning was not as effective as open windows at cooling down the room. However, the staff was wonderful, helpful and very welcoming. They all spoke English very well and were able to give us helpful suggestions about the city. The women who served breakfast were kind and attentive. The breakfast is about the same as other hotels we have visited in Italy, mainly pastries, cereal and yogurt. Its a pleasant way to start the day and there are many places to eat close by if you want a bigger breakfast. Many major city attractions are within a few blocks of this hotel. The leather market and the big central market are just around the corner. There is a great place for gelato right next door and the hotel has lovely sitting rooms or a garden to enjoy your gelato in! We would stay there again, no question. A special thanks to Raffela for helping us with Ufizzi and Academia tickets and to Tim for his lovely manner and help on our first night.

This hotel is perfectly situated just opposite the Medici Chapel. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming. There are some lovely public rooms (seldom used it seems) and a central open courtyard. It is difficult to find any fault with this hotel and I'm looking forward to another visit soon. Locally the Trattoria San Lorenzo is very good for an evening meal.

A good location for the main sites in Florence and with a good wine bar next door in the piazza. The public areas were spacious but very underused - we didn't see anyone in them in the 4 days we were there. Room was cramped for 3 with camp-bed as the extra bed even though it was a triple room. Good looking breakfast room but breakfast somewhat limited - good cakes but no cheese or ham and no fresh fruit. The noise of the coming and going in the piazza at night was quite disturbing - we had to keep our windows open as the weather was hot and no air conditioning is allowed till June and could hear every cart being wheeled across the square! Had to pay an extra tourist tax of 7 euros per person. Had a big discount on the room on booking - the full price would have been much less attractive given the size of the triple room and the breakfast.

We like this hotel very much. It is very close to the hot spots of Florence (including train terminal) and to all kinds of restaurants. There are also some grocery stores only a few steps away. The room in the hotel is clean, quiet and large enough. The bathroom facilities are working well. The air conditioning is also working well and can be controlled in the room. We feel very confortable in this hotel. Staff in the hotel are nice and helpful. We highly recommend this hotel to mature people.

The only negative comment I would make is on the breakfast offered at the Benci. I am very used to breakfasts in Italy and even still this was, by far, the least liked breakfast comparing to over 10 other hotels we have stayed at in the past. But - for 90 euro - what can you expect? No meat, no cheese (unless you count the creamed cheese), wait staff a bit gruff. Often hard boiled eggs are offered but not here. But, for the money, this was still an excellent value. If our sons would have been with us this breakfast would not have come close to satisfying.

My fourth visit to Florence, this time with Australian friends, chose Hotel for its location, easy walking distance from train or bus station and ideally situated for visiting all of Florence's attractions. San Lorenzo market and many bars and restaurants just outside Hotel. Hotel management and staff very friendly and helpful. Not disappointed with our choice, and would definately return. Breakfast a little basic but not unusual for this class of Hotel in Italy.

Location is the bigger advantage of this hotel: opposite to Medici Chapel entrance, with several nice restaurants around, close to Mercato Centrale, five minutes on feet to Duomo, I was able to walk with luggage from the railway station. A paid garage is in 50 meters distance, I didn't use it, just mention for information. Hotel public areas - breakfast room and lobby - are nice. I found receptionists very kind. Standard of room and bathroom is just average for three stars tourist accommodation – definitely not luxury but acceptable. I stayed in a single room of enough space but other single rooms are smaller and probably less comfortable, as I realized from the floor evacuation plan. Some noises from corridor and TVs from other rooms are occasionally possible to hear.

Stayed in a twin bedroom. Excellent hotel with exceptionally friendly staff. In a great spot, near the markets, right next door to the Capelle Medici and plenty of coffee shops and restaurants nearby. 10minute walk to Galleria del Accedemia to see David and about 15 to Uffizi, an easy walk from the train station. Have stayed in hotels with nicer rooms in Florence, but what would make me recommend this one above all is the friendliness of Raefella and her staff - wonderful
