We arrived late in the evening but were warmly welcomed. Rooms were excellent, clean and spacious. Breakfast was very good. Staff were very helpful and friendly. A bit far away from town centre unless you like walking but would stay here again. A little tratorria around the corner (head away from the river and turn first left) served great food with a family atmosphere.

This hotel had great reviews on your site.We were disappointed with it.The room was really due to be renovated. As we opened the door there was an awful smell coming from the bathroom like the smell of sewer backing up.There was old carpet on the floor and if you left your widow open at night, there were lots of mosquitos in the room...Breakfast was your usual fare except that the coffee was truly not drinkable.I am not a fussy person but I would not recommend this hotel.I booked 5 hotels through Venere and this is the only one that disappointed us.

the bath room is very clean but it smells due to old structure. With the price you pay, you cannot expect too much.So far the hotel is clean and okay. People are very nice and helpful.

After taking the number 14 bus (which come quite often) from in front of the train station (There are two "Arnolfo" stops, the second is a little closer to Orcagna street where the hotel is located), we were greeted by very friendly staff. Be aware that bus tickets purchased from tabacco shops or at the terminal are 20% cheaper than in the hotel or aboard the bus. Don't be caught without one, it's a 500 Euro fine! Our only problem was the free Wi-Fi which did not reach to the third floor (the hotel has 4 floors). If Wi-Fi is essential ask for a room on the first or second floor or be prepared to go to the lobby to use their computer or connect to wireles). The room was spotlessly clean, not large but quite adequate and the value for money was excellent. Breakfast was served by pleasant staff and was more than adequate. I would definitely stay here again, we even extended our stay there by a day as we were very pleased with the hotel and staff.

Overall the hotel is clean, confortable, quiet, with easy access to the points of tourist attractions. However, don´t except much of the breakfast, it is very basic. The best asset of the hotel is the staff, they are very nice, they provide all the information required and are always ready to help.

We ranked Hotel Orcagna highest of the five places in which we stayed during three weeks in Italy. It was the most efficiently managed of the five. Breakfast were excellent. Postage stamps and bus tickets were available at the front desk. An employee was available at the front desk 24/7. Frequent nearby bus sevice, daily room cleaning and cheerful morning greetings all added up to a "home away from home" feeling

Hotel Orcagna had by far the largest room we stayed in, out of 5 hotels throughout Europe. The bathroom was also very large and the view from our balcony (we were on the 4th floor) was breathtaking. The breakfast was typically European, but the service was very nice. Overall, a good stay.

When we got to the Hotel, they did not have a room for us and took us next door to the Hotel Jane. My ratings are based on that hotel, not the Hotel Orcagna.

The Hotel is great. Anyway, as all the accomadations are expensive in Italia, we can say that the relationship between price/quality is excellent for this Hotel. It takes us 20 min by feet to reach the center of Firenze. I hardly recomand this Hotel. The street presents plenty of parking area for our car.

Very friendly and helpful hotel. Sited not up-close but a nice walk from the Duomo, which is along a main pedestrian route anyway. We had one of the top suites and to sit outside at the tables on the rooftop in the evening with a bottle of wine and a pizza watching the sun go down right over the dome of the Duomo is really Florence! Some nice cafes near by,especially the Stazione about 200m away with "everything on the menu" as takeaway - and used by all the locals accordingly. A reasonable breakfast by "continental" standards.

All facilities first class; only reservation was the smallness of the room (no 12). Although a little away from city centre this was in some ways an advantage as the area was quiet and had good bus service.

The extra distance from central Florence sites was easily made up for by the assets of the hotel and the price.

Our only comments are that one of the bedrooms (at the front) was disturbed every morning by the noise of the rubbish collection. We found the breakfast to be very ordinary and what was worse staying for 7 days it didn't change once.

we had a double room that was not huge, but adequite. We overlooked a quiet garden area. The bathroom was a bit small, but no;t too bad. The people were great, very helpful. Not too many restaurants near the hotel, but we found a few decent ones. Easy access to buses.

Hotel was about 20 minute walk from San Giovanni and Duomo which suited us as we enjoy walking. The area around the hotel had some nice little trattorias frequented by locals..always a good sign! Make sure you pre-book Galleria d'Uffizi as the queue was very long. There are many, many other galleries and sites to visit. Santa Croce was a haven of quiet and peace! We had a lovely time despite rainy weather!

We stayed for 12 days at the Hotel Orcagna and were really overwhelmed by the friendly and professional service. The price was really good and we couldn't see any difference to a three star hotel. The staff was very nice and personal and we would stay there any time again. The hotel is a 20 minutes walk from the Dome and it is located in a business and living quarter. There are good opportuneties for shopping (food and clothes) as well as inexpensive restaurants nearby. The breakfast is typically Italian with very good coffee, brioches, some juices and cornflakes. It is good to arrive early for breakfast. The rooms were very clean and well-equipped. At the hotel there were guests from Italy, Europe, and the US.

Hotel Orcagna was a very nice hotel, with very friendly staff. The room was clean and reasonably spacious. The room also had a balcony, which I enjoyed standing out on and watching the people go by. Hotel Orcagna is well situated in the city - at a leisurely walking pace, you can reach the Duomo, the Uffizi or the Accademia in about 15 - 20 minutes. The continental breakfast offered in the morning was good, with a very nice lady greeting you as you came in to the room. I quite enjoyed the expresso coffee they brewed for me. There are a number of restaurants near by the hotel - each within 5 minutes walk. My wife and I went to the following restaurants: Cocotrippone Osteria on Via Gioberti - Good food, wine and service, with English menu available. La Taverna Trattoria Pizzeria on Via Cimabue at Via Arnollo - Good food, good wine, but service was a bit rushed and busy with no English menu available. La Luna Pizzeria on Via Gioberti - Food and wine were standard fare, while service was rushed due to being very busy - no English menu. Be advised that dinner does not start at any restaurant until 7:30pm.

The Orcagna should certainly have 3 stars, not 2. The room was larger than the Best Western we stayed in, in Rome. The room had paintings and statuary frescos and was altogether most comfortable, with a safe and plenty of storage space. There was a bed-length wall shelf as well as 2 bedside tables and a desk, The bathroom was adequate (none are large in Italy, it seems) and had thick towels and plenty of hot water. We preferred the shower curtain (vs glass shower) as it allows maneuverability without bumping into hardness. There was a hairdryer as stated. Our room faced the street with a view of distant mountains, via a small balcony and the rear rooms faced the courtyard. It is a very quiet neighborhood, with no street sounds at night. There was a full length glass door and roll down shutters. We originally planned to stay for 2 nights and relocate to Siena but we opted to extend to 4 nights and day-trip to Siena. My brother and his family had stayed here in '03 while we had been across the street at the Hotel Jane so we knew the property. There is a courtyard with seating, as well as a sitting area with larger TV, and a seperately located game room opposite the courtyard. Simone and her daughter manage the hotel and Simone greeted us each morning at breakfast with our choice of beverage. There was also cereal, granola, juices, rolls and pastry with jelly, jams and Nutella. The room rate was most reasonable, and I would not hesitate to refer anyone to the Orcagna. The # 14 bus is nearby to take you the short distance into the heart of Florence and the taxi rates were reasonable as well. We ate at 3 of the 4 nearby places recommended by Simone and were never disappointed. There was also a drop-off laundry nearby which we used.

Just what my wife and I wanted-quiet and about 20 minute walk from Duomo. The staff was courteous and helpful and the breakfast was very good. Also there are a number of trattoria/restaurants nearby. Food was uniformly good. No complaints about bathroom-clean and plenty of light. All in all eminently suitable and we wiill stay at Orcagna on our next trip to Florence.

We drove into chaotic Florence and found our hotel with a little difficulty but upon arrival - what a welcome!! We were having trouble with our hire car and Simone from the hotel rushed to our aid and saved the day. Throughout our 3 night stay, Simone was extremely helpful and suggested local places to eat and visit. She even humoured us when we tried our poor italian vocab on her. Her english was impeccable too. Our room faced the street and was quiet, clean and spacious. The hotel has a cute little garden in the rear which was great to sit in before or after a big day of walking. The breakfast was agreeable too. The hotel is within walking distance from all the major sites and fantastic tavernas and cafes. We loved Florence and think this hotel was part of our happy stay.

Hotel Orcagna has all the basic amenities for a two star hotel. Very friendly staff and a nice surprise - big white fluffy towels! As with many of the local smaller hotels, the room is locked with a key and held at the reception desk when you leave the premise. The neighborhood had a few wonderful restaurants within walking distance and we enjoyed a casual dining experience at Forno a Legna where generous cuts of steak and veal were the highlight of the menu. The breakfast offerings were cereal, juices, yogurt, rolls, and fresh fruit and included in the price. There is free internet access...a small closet type room houses the communal computer and printer. It was always available at any time of day/night. We enjoyed our stay at Orcagna.

The hotel was a little further from the city center than I had understood it would be but the family that runs the hotel is awesome and the hotel is a very good one--located in a residential area with an approximate 30 minute walk to the city center. Rooms were clean and modern. The area is very safe.

Probably one of the best hotels in Florence in terme of quality to price ratio I have got thanks to Venere.com discount. The staff is very friendly and the hotel not so far the historic city centre is very quite. If you take the bus, you save miles walking and keep your energy to visit more museum and historic monuments. I recommend Florence and Orcagna hotel to all tourists who love Renaissance cities with their incredible art which was made during thoses centuries of light.

Other reviews I read before booking and staying were right on. The biggest complaint I had was that it's not easy to find from the bus. The stop is not listed on the maps so you have to be very attentive to the bus signs looking for the street name in fine print (and go towards B and C from the train station...which is east... not towards A or west like we did at first, not knowing and having a fun time getting lost). If you want a hotel off the beaten path that is quiet and homey, a bit romantic and with the friendliest staff we met, this is it. Large rooms (for Europe standards) with a quiet balcony overlooking a garden. Decent restaurants without a million tourists (be prepared for no English). Bikes were not free as advertised, but having them as an option was great (I recommend taking a day to bike around Florence, that was a great time...but also a bit dangerous so make sure you are a coordinated biker with quick reflexes). I recommend this hotel and would return.

This hotel was great value...clean, adequate breakfast, very welcoming & helpful staff...my only complaint is that the walls between rooms must be thin, as we were kept awake on the first night by a noisy group of friends after they'd come back from a night out, but I guess that could happen anywhere. Our stay at the Hotel Orcagna was most pleasant. Upon arrival, one of the women at the reception desk went out of her way to locate a parking space for us in front of the hotel. The rooms were clean and pleasantly spacious, the public areas bright and cheery, and the staff most accommodating. We enjoyed an adequate complimentary breakfast each morning that filled our needs. Speaking of the staff, we had an early morning wake-up call the day of departure, and the owner (at least I believe her to be the owner) graciously and unexpectedly opened up the dining area at 4:30 a.m. so that we could have breakfast before leaving for the airport. We were treated as though we were family! The accommodations exceeded our expectations for such a reasonable room rate. Overall, our travel companions and we all agreed that we definitely would return to the Hotel Orcagna when next in Florence.

We were warmly greeted. The parking garage is down the street and around the corner. The lady walked there and helped us park the car inside. We asked for the room on the 5th floor with an outdoor terrace, and got it. The hotel is a 25 minute walk from the Duomo, a bit further than we thought. The closest restaurant is several blocks away. The air conditioning in our room barely worked. Still, we loved the table and chairs out on the terrace, and the room was clean. The staff could not have been nicer.

Nicely located for walking into Florence. The young lady receptionist was very friendly and helpful with directions for both sight seeing and driving. Breakfast was basic but pleasant. The bonus was a parking space at no extra cost. Recommended, especially in a place like Florence where you will be ripped-off for everything else.

The Orcagna hotel is a great place to stay for people traveling on a budget. The hotel itself is a little bit of a hike from the center of the city,(20 minutes by foot) but the price makes it worth it. The owners do not speak any english, but I enjoyed this as I could practise my Italian! The rooms are very spacious, however the shower is just the opposite. It barely fits one person! Also, we stayed there in the middle of July and the a.c. did not work very well! Other then that, we thought that the hotel was very quaint as the rooms are decorated in a cute Italian scheme and the hallways have that "homey" feel. All in all, we enjoyed the Orcagna.

The chaos of entering a large and unknown city was significantly diminished by the wonderful and helpful welcome we had at this hotel. The woman at the desk (during the day) was very accomodating and even stood in a parkng spot on the street to save it for us while we turned around! The location was great for us (about 15 minute walk from the center of town). Internet access in the lobby was very helpful for booking museum visits. also, a great restaurant, just down the street from the hotel, called FuoriPiazza. Outdoor (within in the restaurants interior) dining made for a wonder and almost tourist-free dinner. Food was fantastic as well.

We chose this hotel because the reviews said that the hotel staff were friendly and helpful and indeed they were. They spoke enough English to understand us. We had a great stay at the hotel orcagna. We were welcomed enthusiastically, and the woman who registered us gave us great recommendations for restaurants nearby. What we loved most was the neighborhood feel of the hotel location. Within walking distance of all major tourist spots in Florence, it was just enough out of the way to offer something different. We were able to eat at local establishments near the hotel - by far the best food we found in Italy because they didn't have that touristy aspect. And, the service of the employees at the hotel was exceptional! We would stay at the Hotel Orcagna again in a heartbeat!

The staff was very friendly and efficient. Upon arrival, the receptionist found a garage for us to park our car for the night. Our room was quite large and clean with four beds, and the bathroom was new and also clean. The carpet in the room was worn and a bit stained, but I was impressed that it was quite clean under the beds (our son used it as a hiding place). We enjoyed watching the evening thundershowers from the balcony of the room. The breakfast could have been a bit more interesting, but they offered us plenty of hot coffee and hot chocolate, and it was certainly more than adequate for breakfast. The hotel is located in a fairly calm neighborhood, so sleeping was not a problem.

Great hotel! For price and service, you'll be hard pressed to find better. It is far enough away from the tourist center to be cheaper and more peaceful, but is any easy 10 minute walk from anything you may wish to see. The staff are great. The evening people don't speak much english, but Simona, the day manager is dynamite and get help with anything; she'll even move your car for you so you don't get a ticket. Parking is a bit rough, but not unmanageable. They have a tiny garage for 10 euro a day if needed. One of the best restaurants we ate at in Italy is a few blocks away-- Aquacotta. A small family run spot. Order the Aquacotta; truly amazing little dish- simplicity an flavor at heir peak. Il Barino, around the corner is also good, but a bit pricey. It's almost worth it for the wacky hostess alone. Bottom line: save your money, skip the Ritz-Carlton, stay here, and eat well at Aquacotta. You won't do any better than this.

Nice place - a bit of a walk from all the action, but that's what we wanted (quiet, and an excuse to walk and see the city even more than if we stayed in the center - and it is near a supermarket!). The staff is friendly, helpful, and they speak English. Two complaints - rather warm hot water, and the breakfast. I understand that breakfast is not an important meal in Italy, so maybe I shouldn't blame this hotel, but enough with the empty calories!

We enjoyed our stay at the Organca Hotel. It was a nice place, central, quite silent, we could walk to the towncenter. Erverything was what we needed. Only I could whish some fresh fruit for beakfest, but that is my whish. Thanks for the stay!

Not a bad room, friendly staff not much English spoken, but tried to be helpful. The windows are very thin...so trafic noise is quite loud! I didn't like the fact that they insisted on keeping our pasports, they kept them in plain veiw, behind the desk for anyone to grab!!

We were very satisfied with this hotel. Very clean room, staffs were so friendly, explaind everything when needed and it was very quiet. It was a bit far away from the station and from the central. (20 minutes walk?) But actually we enjoyed staying away from the central, since there are lots of nice stores, very convenient suparmarkets, very quiet in the evening etc. The breakfast could be a bit better but we can't really complain about the hotel for the price. If we would be going to stay in Fireze then we would like to go back to the Hotel.

Very good location. Perfect rooms - very clean, modern and spacious. The air-conditioning was appreciated in the middle of the summer. The best value for money among all the european hotels we stayed in. If we ever go back to Florence we'll stay there again for sure.

This hotel is too far from the city center, which is not clear from the map. Breakfast could be little better. Hotel personels are helpfull. They accept credit card.

We only stayed for one night, but it was just what we wanted - a quad room close to city centre. We were lucky with the on-street parking.

From the moment we registered, and regardless of the time of day or night, the staff at Orcagna went out of their way to help us out to get to tourist sites, good restaurants and shopping. The hotel location is ideal in that it is within walking distance to some historic sites and is one block away from the municipal bus which is inexpensive and easy to use. Our room was clean and comfortable; it overlooked a quiet garden and other housing making it feel as if we were in the suburbs even though we were minutes away from the historic center of the city. Free access to the internet was a real bonus helping us to plan future travel without stress. The breakfast service was very convenient enabling us to fuel up before starting our non-stop touring. We highly recommend this hotel.

It´s a good place to stay with a very good competence of employees. They must to improve the bathroom (little water). I think it´s a little expensive in relationship between price/quality.

We had a wonderful stay here. The staff were very friendly, it was in a good location in not too touristy an area with some great local restaurants that the staff recommended. Only a short walk into the centre of town.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Orgagna. The room was very quiet, and the bathroom was very modern and clean (1st floor, no. 14). The staff was very nice, and we were greeted with a map and shown the nearest bus stops, the station and the dome. We had a very pleasant stay, and we would recommend Hotel Orcagna to anyone, since they were also the cheapest hotel around, at least before summer season starts.

A really beautiful room made me think this hotel was 3 or 4 star, and the price was unbeluevably cheap for this standard. Only downside was the evening manager had little or no English, but it wasn't overly important. Location is about 10-15 minutes walk from Duomo and Campo di Marte train station. If you can choose your train station, choose that one cause the other station is very far from the hotel.

Hotel Orcagna was actually even better than we had expected. Our room was wonderful, and the bed was the best bed my husband and I had ever slept in! Now we have decided to buy a new bed.... The staff was friendly and welcoming, the breakfast was good, and we really enjoyed our four days. When we moved on to Sorrento and Rome, we realized what a superior hotel we had stayed in in Florence. Thank you!

Staff was excellent & location was good. We were given a larger room but it was much noisier - large windows that constantly bang. Request a quiet room, although it may be smaller.
