Apart from the smallish room the hotel was OK. There are no lifts so if you have heavy luggage don't stay here, the lobby and rooms are up 2 flights of stairs. It is very close to lots of shops and restaurants,so we had access to to everything. The breakfast was good.

We could not fault this hotel,Staff were helpful and fun to deal with, all persons we dealt with spoke good English. Older people might find the stairs a little difficult with heavy bags although the staff were willing to assist. One of the propreitors told me they were installing a lift in the future.Breakfast and the breakfast room were excellent.Very close to the Railway station.

This hotel is in a very good location for both the main railway station and the Duomo. Whilst the room was clean it was very stark and not really welcoming. Breakfast was ok but coffee was awful!

We had a triple for 1 night and then a double after our daughter left for Siena. We were not required to change rooms, but a bed was removed and the price lowered for the remaining nights as the triple became a double. This was a convenient arangement. The staff spoke English well and were very helpful, especially with confirming tour reservations for us. The location was very convenient to the train and all of our tours and sightseeing. We had not expected a hair dryer and TV in the room but appreciated having them. The room was small but we expected that in Florence. It was also quiet and clean. We would definately choose the Hotel Nizza again.

As with other places in Italy, the air conditioner in the room was old and did not work well. This was a major issue in August. We kept the windows open to keep the temperature and humidity manageable. This really increased the noise from the street. Hotel is located on the main street from the railway station to the city.

Excellent price for value, above our expectations, in the center of Florence. The room was clean and spacious with nice furniture. The bathroom was OK too. Not noisy at all, as our window was on a courtyard. Air conditionning was old, noisy and not very efficient but we could let the window open. Continental breakfast was ordinary but we ate as much as we liked. The employee was really welcoming, smiling and polite, spoke (at least) 3 languages, let us drop our bags in the morning when we arrived.

Excellent staff! Micelle is really helping, advising very kindly, also the night shift guy (forgot his name..) . The hotel is located in the BEST place in town near the piazza novella and the bars, nearby the bridges that you can cross to mingle with the locals. We took the 1 day 80 euro guided tour to Toscana: S. Gominiani, sienna, Pisa and Chianti - amazingly cost effective and include an original Italian lunch! We asked for the quiet room and got one - so nice of them! Breakfast is ok, good variety but basic.

This is a very good small hotel for young travellers like me. I like it very much, and will recommend to my friend if they want to go to Firenze. It's very convenient to go to the train station, and it takes a short walk to most of the main scene spots. There is also a big supermarket nearby. People of the hotel are nice and helpful, and they gave me one of the best parts of the memory of my trip in Italy. ^_^

EXCELLENT HOST AND FRONT DESK EMPLOYEES. OUR QUADRUPLE ROOM HAD PLENTY OF SPACE FOR 4 FULL SIZE PEOPLE. WE WERE ON THE GO CONSTANTLY SO USED THE ROOM FOR SLEEPING, SHOWERING ETC. THERE WAS A NICE COMMON AREA FOR SITTING AND VISITING JUST OUTSIDE THE ROOM. DOUBLE PANED WINDOWS KEPT OUTSIDE NOISE TO A MINIMUM BUT WE ENJOYED OPENING THE WINDOW TO TAKE IN THE SOUNDS OF THE VIBRANT CITY OF FLORENCE. GREAT LOCATION FOR SIGHTSEEING AND THE TRAIN STATION.

Very close to Santa Maria Novella Train station.Everything was near. The first day, they had a problem with my reservation so I neede to go and stay somewhere else, they'd already sceduled. It was a very good hotel with 3 stars instead of the 2 of nizza, very close and that showed that the people there know their business very very well.I didin't mind staying for one night in a such perfect hotel. When we got back to Nizza, we saw a lot differences, but for it's price, it was nice. I certainly reccomend it.When I was "you". i was reading the comments for hours before I decide for nizza, and I 'm very satisfied with my decision. Just enjoy your stay...

We stayed 2 nights at Hotel Nizza. There were 3 of us, and our accomodations were perfect. The breakfast was great, and the staff was very accomodating. The hotel was ideally situated close to the train station, but within easy walking distance to most important sites in Florence. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone with a budget that wants value for their money.

Good location near SMN train station and within walking distance of most major attractions. Except for the one unfriendly staff member who checked us in, the rest of the staff were helpful and courteous. The room was not large, but it was adequate and clean. The breakfast bar offered more choices than others we'd seen. We would stay there again.

Hotel location was great -- easy walk to the Duomo and restaurants, as well at the train station (Florence is a very small, walkable city). Rooms were stark, but clean, comfortable and decent size. A little street noise, but not too bad at night with the windows closed (anywhere in the city would be noisy). The desk staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, the hotel is basic accomidations, but comfortable and a good value. Would definately stay here again.

I really enjoy the hotel, the people was very very kind and charming. The room was small like in all europe, but was clean, confortable and nice. The location is excellent, near the train station (three blocks aprox.).

In a city well known for being difficult to navigate a car, Florence lived up to it's name. We found the hotel, eventually, using our GPS but after dropping our bags, finding the parking in the same street was very difficult. The street changes it's oneway direction so you have to renavigate and there was also reconstruction in progress around the area that made finding the parking difficult. The hotel is within a block of the Duomo and Baptistry and we were all enchanted with Florence from that moment on. In the middle of summer, make sure you go walking in the later evening when the streets are quieter, they are well lit and really worth it. The hotel is reasonable. The rooms are small and ours was a bit dark and the bathrooms smaller but we were not paying for 5 star so it was expected. Reception, when staffed by the younger gentlemen of the staff, was fantastic. They were helpful and friendly however, the older gentleman, who maybe the owner, speaks no english according to him and is unfriendly and does not want to help his customers. Florence is a tourist city and he needs to know that he will have people in the hotel that do not speak Italian. A great hotel to be close to all the wonderful sights of Florence.

We enjoyed very much our stay: room was huge and comfortable, on the reception floor (only one staircase to go up) and with the windows to the patio inside the hotel, nice bathroom. breakfast also good, but no vegetables and the same things all 4 days are little boring. staff was very helpfull and welcoming. short walking distance to the rail station and to the Dome.

Location: Perfect! Located where the maps says and really anywhere in Florence is central. Very close to the train station. There are plenty of places to eat just minutes from the Hotel and a small store about 5 minutes away you can pick up water, juice and fruit etc for cheap. Rooms: Clean with double bed, bed side tables, wardrobe with a safe, desk and tv (has 2 English news channels) Bathroom: Small but it has everything you need so size didn't bother us at all. Toilet, shower, sink and towels were provided Breakfast: Served in the breakfast room and you can help yourself to fruit juice, rolls, cheese, ham basically an Italian breakfast. Please remeber you are in Italy and so they do eat differently in the morning, prefering sweeter things. Staff: They were fab. One speaks great English and was there to welcome us the other 2 don't but its not a problem as the one that speaks English is on all day from breakfast, he booked us tickets for the Uffizi and David which was great! Overall its wasn't that expensive and we had a lovely time! Highly recommend it.

Hotel is very close to Santa Maria Nouvella. A hint - take an underground passage from S.M.N. to the other side of the square to Via Panzani, go to next intersection and turn right. Rooms are a little bit noisy - you usually hear when other people open/close their doors. Good news: traffic is low, 4-5 rooms on the floor. We asked for a room facing backyard, no sounds from the street. Stuff is very friendly, English speaking. Walking distance to major attractions. Hotel is facing a quiet street. Will stay there again.

Expect to walk up multiple flights of stairs when staying at Nizza. Their location is great, a short walk from the train station and a short walk from the Duomo. The first employee we were greeted by was great, very helpful with suggestions about what to do and see in Florence as well as helped us by looking up train schedules so we could travel to Pisa in time for a flight out of Italy. Very helpful! The rooms are old and a little worn, but have charm. Windows can open and have a grate, but even with the windows closed, the rooms can get very noisy. Bed was uneven and a bit uncomfortable. Room is spacious. Bathroom is a decent size but hard to maneuver around. Second employee we dealt with was less accommodating as we asked for him to check if our flight was on time and was unwilling to help. Breakfast is great - meat, cheese, instant cappuccino machine, toast, juice. Hotel is pricy, but worth it due to the location. Would recommend.

I have no regrets about my stay here at the Nizza! Michele was most helpful and gracious with his service and advice, and took great attention in looking after our needs. We received excellent recommendations on restaurants (La Spada, Trattoria Marione) and museum tips. Our room was spacious, clean, quiet, and offered all needed conveniences. The only disadvantage was that we had to climb many flights of stairs to get to our room, but the quality of the accomodation made it worth it. I would highly recommend this place to anyone staying in Firenze. Thanks!

The hotel is in a good location, within walking distance to all the sites. The only problems we found were that the rooms didn't have a fridge or alarm clock (as stated on the website). Our air conditioning wasn't working but our friends rooms had working air conditioning. The breakfast was substantial, enough to get the day started. The rooms were very clean, although there was some mildew in the shower, but with the humidity and weather in Florence you can't get around the mildew issue. The only other issue was that the website said free internet but the hotel required you to pay 3 euro for one hour. You can't park in the city (can only do so until 2 am @ 24 euro so you would have to move your car after that time). Parking outside the city is about 20 euro but you can park for 24 hours. If I had to I would stay at the hotel again because of the location.

Everything was great - a nice clean, Italian/European hotel (why stay in a 5-star hotel that could be in any country in the world?)! The desk staff people were friendly and helpful. Location was great too - the hotel is within walking distance of all the sights we wanted to see.

Travel styles vary, but I would recommend Hotel Nizza to most anyone. Excellent friendly service, good clean basic rooms, no frills, great location. *Of course* there's some street noise and there's no elevator ! It's Florence ! Bring ear-plugs unlesss you happen to regard street-noise as part of the experience of a city (I do). The architecture of these ancient buildings would be destroyed by adding in elevators. I plan to return as soon as possible, and will stay at Hotel Nizza.

Bathroom was a bit smelly (smelling of damp - room 14). Room was basic but spacious. Staff is quite friendly and helpful. Hotel in very good location, walking distance from all the main sites. And right next to some excellent restaurants.

Very close to the bus and train station but it still feels like you are in the city. Very close to the major tourist areas. Streets are loud but closing the windows eliminated the problem. A/C worked well. Shower pretty small. Great service and very clean. Very helpful staff.

Hotel de tres bonne qualité, seul petit bémol, prévoire environ 25 euros en plus par jour de parking (pour un garage privé), ce qui est relativement peu... Ps: le petit déjeuner est compris dans le prix de la chambre.

Hotel Nizza is a great option if you want something near the train station and the historic center. It's a great value for money! And thestaff was very helpfull, even making breakfast available a little earlier so we could catch our train! Very confortable and spacious room. Unfortunately they lack an elevator!

The hotel staff was very friendly, but the night manager, while friendly, spoke very limited English, which made getting directions to the garage very difficult. The day staff was a great help with travel arrangements. Location is excellent, but whatever you do, don't drive here! You will pay at least 24 Euros a day to park in the garage and central Florence is a nightmare of one-way streets. The hotel is with in easy walk of the train station and within easy walk of all the major sites. You simply don't need or want a car. Also avoid the restaurant right next door -- we ate there the first night and ended up with food poisoning.

The Hotel is ideally located. It's just a short walk to the Dome (10mins) and about 20mins to ponte vechio. The rooms are generally fine, although the bathroom could be a little bit wider (more room).

The parking in the center of Florence (garage il giglio) it's quite expensive, 24 euros per day. maybe it's better to leave the car outside the center...

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Nizza is very conveniently located to the train station (my wife, mother-in-law, and I walked from the train station to the hotel). It is also located in very close proximity to restaurants and clothing stores. The staff also suggested great restaurants for dining. Rooms were very clean and comfortable; I honestly have no complaints for this hotel. I would defiantly recommend this hotel for your stay in Florence. ( A little tip: if you are walking from the train station, you will need to make a right on Giglio , very easy to find once you make the right)

Hotel was located less than 5 min walk from Santa Maria Novella. Had some problems finding the hotel(should have check with the TI) for directions. Roberto at the front desk was very helpful who provided us with the maps, tour info, etc. . It helped as he spoke perfect english. Breakfast was the usual continental style. Thanks to other reviewers on Venere, I requested a room away from the street. No noise at all. The bed could have been a little harder. Great location to the City Centre as Florence is a small city and everything is within walking distance.

There was a lot of noise off the street, but that's Florence in the Santa Maria Novella area. The staff were very helpful, and the room was very clean. Breakfast could have used a little more, but overall, for a room in the busy city of Florence, a good place to stay.

The hotel is located in an extremely convenient position, just a few minute walk from the train station and inside the historical centre. Our room was really quiet: some noises came from the other rooms, but this didn’t keep us from sleeping. Breakfast was typically Italian, sufficiently rich and varied. The staff was very kind and helpful. I definitely recommend it.

The hotel itself was very good. A good budget hotel in the centre of Florence. Florence itself was not so good, however. The Duomo in particular was disappointing. All green, white and pink marble. Clever but not exactly pretty. OK if you're Cosmo Medici trying to impress some minor duke or other but a tad over the top to my mind. Also, if you fancy an evening drink, ignore the signs saying "Bar". They're nothing more than licensed confectioner's shops and not somewhere you're likely to linger. Probably better to head for the Irish pub, even if you're usually the type who would run a mile from such places. I admit that my views might be a little coloured by the fact that I had my wallet stolen between Santa Maria Novella station and the hotel, but hey, this is Italy after all.

This is a 2 star Hotel and not quite up to the standard of other Hotels we stayed in in Italy. The bathroom was very narrow and the shower recess was very compact. The water flow from the shower was sparse and the towels were linen and not towelling, a horrible combination. Reception is up a skinny flight of stairs and your room will be up more stairs, there is no lift. On the positive side the Hotel is close to the main station, shopping and the Duomo. All major attractions in Florence are within an easy walking distance from here. The chap on reception was very helpful and speaks English well. Breakfast was typical contintential although beware of the orange juice and your coffee comes from a self-serve machine.

The stay would have been great but we did not sleep because of the noise from the bus stop outside the front of this hotel. Every bus in the city seems to stop here and that equals no quietness what-so-ever. The room was big and clean. The staff was really nice. I asked to change to a quiet room; after I was told we couldn't change then I was told that we shouldn't sleep next to the window (because that is where the noise was coming from). That was unavoidable. The noise was in the whole room, not just one spot. The pipes in the bathroom made a sound like a cow mooing after the toilet flushed. We left exhausted.
