Staff at the hotel were very welcoming and competent, and our room was a good size. We didn't have the hotel breakfast, which cost extra, but there was a good cafe in the nearby Piazza S Annunziata. From this square it is a short walk to the duomo. There is a good family restaurant nearby, the Acquacotta.

Un hôtel magnifique, charmant et bien placé, avec un personnel à la fois accueillant et discret. Le rapport qualité-prix est excellent.

I cannot speak too highly of this hotel. The service was excellent, the rooms are most attractive, quite spacious, the hotel well located and all this for the price of a 3 star hotel. The only drawback is that it is on the 1st floor with no lift but that is outweighed by the charm of the hotel and its staff.

This hotel is well situated on a quiet street in the heart of the city. We had a lovely room with terrace for our 2 night stay. With the door open we received a light breeze that was scented by the flowering trees on the terrace. We used the mosquito repellent provided. The room was nicely furnished with space to store suitcases and hang clothing. The staff was very knowledgable and friendly. We ate breakfast one day (not included 12 euro per person). Breakfast had yogurt, breads, ham, cereal, etc in a comfortable room. The only drawback was the 25 euro fee to use the internet. I look forward to a future visit.

Contrary to the information sent to me by venere.com in the confirmation email, internet was NOT included in the price of the room.

I had a brief overnight stay for an early morning business meeting. Arriving just after midnight after a very tiring trip, the hotel manager was there to welcome me, take me to my room and confirm that my email instructions had been received. All in all, I found the hotel and staff to be absolutely first class - the room was clean and well resourced, and the location was ideal (a 3-minute walk to my meeting). My best Florence experience by far. I have no hesitation in recommending Hotel Morandi alla Crocetta.

The room was small but nice and the toilet with a shower was even smaller but all very clean. The place is charming and has a little room for breakfast that we did’t use. Just around the corner we found a place with good expresso and “focaccias”, good beginning for a long day in Florence. The place is quiet and 5 minutes walking distance to the main places of interest. We liked it.

No complaint at all. This small hotel is excellent value. Quiet, though centrally located. Charm and atmosphere of an old Tuscan home. Not to be put off by unappealing street. Most best places in Florence are so placed. Great location, just off the busy streets, yet a very short walk to everything. Will definitely return and recommend to other travellers

Adjust your expectations! This is not a trendy, boutique-makeover of an historic building. Rather, it is a very sturdy, competent, classic B&B. Decor and furnishings are solidly middle-class, circa 1930 perhaps. Bathrooms are spotlessly clean but need to be renovated. I found my single room too gloomy, and the management promptly moved me into a lovely corner double, with high ceilings, exposed beams and and a wonderful private terrace. Antique liturgical vestments, nicely framed, are a distinctive touch. Rooms are furnished with a PC and internet, but beware of internet charges, which add up quickly. Perfectly fine for checking email, but not good for working. Via Laura is a quiet street directly behind the archeological museum-- a little dark and spooky at night, but perfectly safe. Location, around the corner from Brunelleschi's Ospedale, is terrific.

The hotel staff are very welcoming and helpful. The bathroom was microscopic in size and barely workable logistically. The breakfast (11 Euros) is sub-par -- all prepackaged, rewarmed items rather than fresh. I stayed here then at Orto de' Medici (5 min. walk towards train station) in same week; Orto de M provided much more spacious room and quality, fresh buffet breakfast (included in price) for lesser price than Morandi.

The staff was wonderful. Both very helpful and knowledgeable about the city and nearby restaurants and attractions. And the hotel was in a great location: enough off the touristy beaten path, but still so close to everything I wanted to see. (Michelangelo's David is but two blocks away!) And the hotel's unique history made the stay all the more impressive. I would absolutely refer this hotel to others planning on visiting Florence.

The only comment was it was deceiving the number of parking spaces available. I showed up and they indicated their parking is on the city street..there was no hotel parking.

The hotel made me feel very welcome. I liked the hotel's guest library, the availability of wireless Internet, and the very pleasant staff. The room was a bit small, even by Italian standards, and the rate seemed high because of the weak American dollar. Overall, though, the location was quite good, and the personal touch made it a very enjoyable stay. I would stay there again, though I would wish for a lower room rate.

This is a charming, cozy little place. Although it was an easy walk to everything (we hoofed it all the way to the San Miniato church and back -- be sure to check it out for the views and to hear the Gregorian monks chant for mass), we felt miles away from the maddening throng of tourists that take over summertime Florence. Our room was the only one of the 5 hotels we stayed at in Italy that was big enough for the 4 of us. Nice, modern bath. Perfectly clean. Free PC with Internet, which was a big bonus. Helpful and friendly staff (I wonder about the people who complain about the friendliness of hotel staffs. I've always found that you get back what you give, so long as you're realistic and not expecting to strike up a relationship) who had great restaurant tips -- our favorites were Caffagi and Accademia. My wife thought our bedspread looked ready to be retired, and I suppose she's right, but the place oozed so much history and atmosphere, that I couldn't have cared less. If we ever return to Florence w/o kids, we'd probably splurge on the Hotel Lungarno, which looked fabulous, but it's an entirely different category, with prices to match. The Morandi fits the bill if you want a place that's cool in summer, clean, quiet, dark (i.e. heaven for light sleepers) and nothing like a hotel chain. P.S. It's located the equivalent of a US block and a half from Piazza SS Annunziata, where they have frequent jazz concerts at night (they were nightly during our stay, 6/22-25). Strictly locals in the audience, as far as I could tell, with tables and refreshments -- a bella notte, to be sure.

We were only there one night, with an early trip to the airport. There was no one at the front desk before 7:30 but (luckily) the cab was there,as its tricky getting in the main door ect. Very nice hotel. The alley way isnt so great in front, but well lit. The restaurant they suggested was one of the best we have EVER been to.

My partner and I would definately stay here again - we had a fantastic time and the location was great. The recommendation of Accademia restaurant was perfect - it was one of our favorite restaurants in Italy. The room was spacious and elegant and the 17th century frescos were a very welcome suprise.

I really enjoyed my stay here and would certainly stay here again. The room was very nice, although small, and there was a fair amount of noise from the street below when I opened the window. It was easy walking distance from museums and cathedrals, but still somewhat removed (a good thing). The staff was extremely helpful, getting me a concert ticket and providing wonderful restaurant recommendations. The staff all spoke excellent English.

We needed a room for three in Florence that would be close to the center of the city (i.e., Duomo). The Morandi alla Crocetta was one of the few that had that type of the room, though it was fairly expensive.Hotel is within 5 minutes walk of the Duomo, however, at the first sight it does not seem very welcoming - via Laura is a narrow street, and the windows face the back wall of the Archeological museum that is covered with remnants of posters and graffiti. Nevertheless, the place is very safe and easy to get in and out. The hotel is very small - 10 rooms total and occupies the second floor in the nondescript building that is at least 100 years old. Beware that there is no elevator. Service was very prompt and welcoming, a person at the front desk was helpful and provided great advice about the city and surroundings. Rooms are well kept and fairly spaceous, at least by European standards; modern bathrooms and air conditioning add to the positives. Overall, we were very pleased with the hotel and service.

The hotel was charming, great furnishings, vey authentic. The staff was extremely helpful, giving us tips on a couple of great restaurants. The only complaint is that our first room was on the street side where the college is located and one night (out of three) there was excessive noise in the street until 230am. Even with the windows closed it was very loud.

Very clean, well maintained and charming hotel located in a quiet but central area in Florence. It has one of the better (if not the best), bathroom facilities for a 3star hotel in UK/Europe. I was surprised at how spacious the single room is. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The street leading to the hotel seemed very quiet and daunting at first but it is not anymore 'daunting' compared to other streets away from the main tourist paths. This hotel is truly a 'value for money'. (If they can do something about the dog poo that littered the street leading to the hotel, it would be perfect!)

The staff were very helpful in arranging dinner reservations and providing directions to various sites. Room was very comfortable, and a better value than the more expensive hotels other members of our party chose. Location was quiet, yet ideal for walking to all of the major sites.
