First time staying at this hotel and price vs location is great!! 3 min away from main train station!! Meaning if you are coming via train from airport or other cities, your stop will be at this train station. Price is acceptable and they have a great restaurant just next door. Food is great and price is very affordable. Only complain I have is that bed sheets and pillow cases are not changed on a daily basis.

The location of the Hotel was perfect for the walking tours of Florence that we did. It is also only a short walk from the car hire pick up/drop off points and the main railway station. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms clean and quiet.

We had room 111 (the hotel has only 15 rooms on the second floor above ground) which has an auto body shop below it. Being April, the rooms were warm but it is hotel policy that the fan/ air conditioners are not to be used till the summer months so we opened our windows for air but the street noise and people loitering (loudly) in the streets was so loud that we had to close the windows and use ear plugs on both of the nights we stayed there. The staff were friendly and helpful but the dated condition of the room and terrible street noise was enough that we would not stay there again.

We had a quad room with a partial wall between our bed and the single beds for our kids - it was great after staying in many hotels with all beds in 1 room! The hotel is only 6-7 mins walk from the station and only 10-15mins from most attractions in Florence. The room was modern and nicely renovated, unlike some other run-down hotels in Italy. We would stay there again!

We booked a classic double room and ended up with a large spacious room that could probably fit 6 people (it was the most spacious on our trip). The bathroom could have fit another 3. We were obviously delighted by this. Hotel Montreal is located very near the Santa Maria Novella train station and SITA bus terminal, and a short walk to the city center. The staff was friendly and always smiling. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Loved the hotel, staff, value, and ideal location for everything. Especially great to walk to and from major sights and train station. Very professional, pleasant staff in all areas. Sweet breakfast staff. The front desk absolutely outdid themselves for us. (I could be getting my hotels confused but I don't remember our bathroom being as spacious as the ones photographed.)

Although the web site says private parking is available it should mention the price which was E20 per day. The room was a little cramped but very clean, with most facilities provided. Less able people should ask for a room on the first floor as access to the other floors is by stairs only. The hotel is in a good location for access to most transport options and is within easy walking distance of the major galleries.

I've been to Florence four times. Elevator only goes up one floor. Then you must drag your luggage up the stairs. It is located next door to a bar. The noise went on until 3AM both nights I was there. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Although it was close to the train station, it was in a seedy area. Bed spread must have been there for 30 years. The hotel did nothing to enhance my stay in that beautiful city. I guess you get what you pay for.

The staff were very friendly and the continental breakfast was adequate. The room itself was a little cramped but was perfectly acceptable as far as comfort. The location was great. Only 2 blocks from the train station so we were able to wheel our luggage over ourselves. We were thrilled to see that they had an elevator.

Florence is now added 2 € per night. (September 2011) This hotel is the staff just good people. I have shared bathroom book, became a room with bathroom. I was fortunate After reviewing the staff was okay. Some rooms are clean! However, because the door of the room light, the noise is pretty. (Sound of the road outside, the sound of neighbors out of) Also, 5 € breakfast been removed from the book is higher than other hotels. Location is very close so easy to move from the station. Price, location, those wishing to travel from simple is recommended!

This is one of my favorite hotels among the 4 that booked in my stay in Italy. It may not be 5-star but I would say my stay was comfortable. Location is also good. It's near the bus stop where you can book your tours and near SMN train station plus the other tourist places. The hotel staff (front desk at least) were all very helpful. They all speak English as well. The rooms we got were both spacious enough. There's airconditioning in all rooms. The toilets are very neat. Plus there's free wifi for customers. This hotel is very close to the train station and about a 15 minute walk to the major attractions in Florence. Room was very small but the bathroom was large with a very nice shower. Room was clean. Staff was friendly and everyone we encountered spoke perfect english. Breakfast was horrible and not worth the 4 extra euro per person we had to pay. Hotel is right next to a bar so it was very loud and disturbing in the evenings. I would not stay at this hotel again.

my husband and i were on a vacation to Italy and we chose this hotel for its proximity to SM Novella station. Google maps gave us the wrong location of this hotel and we spent 2 hours scuttling around to locate this place. Please check the maps provided by Venere. The hotel wasnt great. The bathrooms were not very clean and the bathroom door had a big hole in the room we stayed. The only good thing about the hotel was its central location and thank god for its airconditioners were working. Since we needed the room only to crash the nights, we were fine with it. Not worth the cost charged

We originally booked a superior double room which we stayed in for 2 nights. We decided to come back to the hotel a couple of nights later and booked a standard double room with private bathroom. This was more than sufficient, as the superior room was more than what we needed. The rate is very good and they are very close to the Train and Sita bus station. Within easy walking distance of all the sights and many restaurants just down the road. We had to go to Amalfi Coast from there and had no luck with the Sita bus company to find out what bus to catch from Naples. The receptionist went onto the internet and looked up train timetables and prices for us and then phoned our next hotel to find out where to catch the final bus and where to get off and did not charge us for the phone call or internet time. We will definitely recommend this hotel to anybody.

At 60 euros per night this must be one of the best deals in Florence. Beautiful, clean rooms, simply but tastefully decorated, very friendly staff. The location is good too, with the hotel very close to the station on a pleasant street (though a little noisy from about 10p until midnight with the nearby bars, though closing the shutters on the window took care of that)and within easy walking distance from the centre. At this price, and in Florence, this is one of the best deals I have ever found anywhere. I would certainly stay there again if I returned to Florence, and I will!

Due to a disaster with our flights, we arrived very late to the hotel. While we did let them know, the person on reception was very unfriendly when we arrived and demanded payment up front for a three-night stay in cash. This was somewhat inconvenient and we did think it was a bit insensitive. Thankfully the other staff were very plesant and helpful and for the price this is an excellent hotel in a beautiful city. The problems with the dependent room include the following: 1. About two blocks from the main building. 2. No lift!! this is very annoying... 3. No operator, no reception at night or in early morning. My family has no way to call me... 4. No internet. I think travellers should try to book rooms in the main building. There are lift, operator to direct your call, and free internet service. Anyway, the recptionists are very friendly and their instructions are clear, and suggestions are useful. BTW, the map provided by the hotel is rather rough, and traverllers should try to find an information center to find a more detailed map with all streets marked on the map.

Hotel location is close to the Train station, but since Florence is such a tiny city, location does not matter much really. I suggest anyone who stays in Florence focus more on other aspects than on location. The hotel is tiny, there isn't much public space in the main site nor the 2nd site. The room is clean and quiet, should meet the basic need to having a place to sleep, but nothing more. Service is the same deal, just enough to get by. Anyone who wants something beyond bare minimum should try somewhere else.

The hotel is conveniently located near the Train Station, and an easy walk into the heart of Florence. The receptionist was so helpful and cheerful. She recommened a wonderful inexpensive restaurant near the hotel for great Tuscan food (Ostaria dei Centopoveri), and allowed us to keep our luggage in the room after checkout until our train departed. The room had 3 beds, 2 twin and 1 double, and was spacious. The room was clean, and the location of the hotel very convenient. The negatives were you had to climb stairs with luggage to get to the lobby, and the TV did not work.

The hotel has been renovated fairly recently with the addition of en suite facilities carved out of bedroom space In our bedroom not enough space had been allocated to the bathroom which was very narrow, and it would have been impossible for an overweight person to get into it, let alone use the loo! For us it was fine and there's not much can be done about it now except knock the wall down and try again! Also we were there on a Saturday night and the noise from the bar just round the corner was pretty bad (with the window closed it was tolerable) Florence is an expensive place but the Montreal on balance gave good value for money, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful

Had to stay in second building down and across the street. This was the "Elite Hotel". Up about4 flights of stairs, so would present difficulties for those who had troble in this regard. No was one around in this second hotel to meet, greet, or explain anything. Rooms were OK, but you are left to your own devices (which I dont mind), but others may.

We were only one night in this hotel, but we had quite a bit of luggage. The elevator only went to the 1st floor and it was up 2-3 flights of small stairs after that. Bathroom was fabulous, clean and roomy, bed was comfortable. Breakfast was nice. Would stay at this hotel again but request to be on the first floor.

I stayed at the dependance rooms of mondreal hotel and i thnink it was very good choice. Nadia (the woman who had the responsibility for everything at the elite hotel) is perfect person with the biggest smile in italy... It was good choice for low budget hotel.

The young guy at the counter on one night gave terrible service, making us wait for our keys while he worked at the computer. But the service provided by the others was decent, and Nadia in the dependence was helpful and friendly!

I was for the first time in Firenze and the hotel was a great experience for me and my brother. I specially want to remark the area of breakfast and that the room and wc was always very clean. And you get more that you expect for the price. MUY RECOMENDABLE!

It stayed at this hotel for 3days. It was regrettable that there was no rest room in the room though this hotel was clean and quiet. It was guided to the place like the annex ,because It the check-in was late. And the room was moved the next day. If it is excluded, the location is also good, and it is comfortable. I think that the price is also low.

It a charming hotel near all attractions in Florence. Easy access by walking. Parking expensive, but since it´s complicated to find one, it worth it.

Very disappointed! Price is too expensive for the very tiny room and the receptionist is not courteous to guests. Charge exhorbitant price for use of internet.

The actual room is much more better than pictures in Venere Website. I liked the room conditions comparing with price. 39Euro is quite cheap, not far from Train or Metro station. Lady worked in Cafe room is really really deligent & good service mind. I recommended Tourist to stay here.

staff are friendly and accomodating. No charge for breakfast if you pay cash which is better for my 2-night stay. Im happy with the Breakfast - croissant/breads, cereals, coffee, juice. Overall, hotel is clean, walking distance to almost everything from train station, tourist spots, internet cafes, restos/cafes,small grocery stores. Only setback if its shared bathroom especially in the morning. The entire street is actually lined with many hotels, pension houses.

The room was small and without the special windows it would not be possible to sleep there, too much noise from the street.

We had 3 requirements when choosing a hotel in Florence: 1) near to train station and car rental, 2) relatively inexpensive, 3) clean and quiet. The Hotel Montreal appeared to fit all 3 requirements and we were not disappointed in our choice. The hotel is a short 5 minute walk from the train station and was the same distance to our car rental (for traveling to the Chianti area - you do not want/need a rental for Florence). The hotel met all expectations. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was how small the bathroom was. On the positive side, it was the most comfortable bed/pillows I saw for 2 weeks in 5 different places. The area immediately surrounding the hotel is not what you came to Florence to see. Good news is, you are a 15 minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio, Uffuzi and "old" Florence that you came to see. I would recommend the Hotel for a quick stay in Florence, if longer stay, you may want to upgrade a bit and get closer to the sights. Personnally, I would recommend no more than 2 days in Florence to get the history and art education. Do not try to discover Florence on your own. You must book a tour in order to really appreciate the history and art in the area. Yes it costs more than aimlessly wandering around, but it gives you a much deeper appreciation of what you are seeing. After that, get in a car and spend 4-5 days in Tuscany/Chianti. What a beautiful and relaxing area - of course the wine helps with the relaxing atmosphere.

I was stayed in the independet room, which is a little hotel named "Elite". This is the best hotel I've stayed in Italy(I travelled in Italy for 1 month). The room is big, clean, and the receptionist--Nadya is very helpful. I would recommend it to everyone.
