The location was convenient especially to the duomo and the academy. The staff was extremely helpful in making reservations for popular tourist sites like the academy. Great public spaces, especially the breakfast room. My only complaint is that although we asked for a non-smoking room, smoke permeated our room at night and in the morning. It would be good, if the hotel could solve that problem.

Favorite Florence hotel. We stay at Monna Lisa every time we are in Florence. Love the beautiful enclosed courtyard. It is wonderful to sit out in the afternoon sun. The Hotel is in a very convenient location.

The hotel is centrally located and close to most tourist places. The room was spacious but warm and even with opening windows it didn't really help as much since the room was at the back of the hotel. Also, there was no shower only bath tub - that's problem when you have a young child.

Actually, I can not recommend this hotel or review it. I emailed the hotel a few days before I left for Italy to make sure my reservation was confirmed. I was emailed a confirmation, again reassuring me that a twin bedded room was being held for me. After a long flight, a bus ride from the airport, dragging suitcases around Florence, finding a taxi and finally arriving at the hotel we were told our room was given away!! I was furious, I had the written confirmation in my hand. I was so disappointed as I spent hours on line making the decision; this was the hotel I wanted. Thankfully they found a room for us in another property since it was very late but I was not pleased with the room. I had read on line that the Mona Lisa has a habit of this, it is so true.

The hotel is delightful and well located. The staff are generally very helpful and friendly. The room was spacious, well appointed with a very small bathroom that did not affect our view of the experience. In fact it became a point of humour!

The Monna Lisa was a greaat, quiet retreat of beautiful rooms in the wonderful city of Firenze. I would definitely stay there again on a future visit.

One of the finest hotels we have ever stayed in. The courtyard garden was a delightful setting for breakfast and a welcome respite after rich long days exploring Florence. The interior spaces gave delight at every turn. Much to our surprise, our room and the wonderful interior spaces, hallways and garden looked just as they did on the website. The staff were attentive, helpful, and welcoming. An absolute delight!

I can't say enough nice things about this hotel - the staff was exceptional - the front desk was particularly helpful with cabs, dinner reservations, etc. The hotel is truly a quiet refuge in the heart of Florence - only a 10 min walk to the Duomo. We loved coming back at the end of a busy day and enjoying a drink in the beautiful, tranquil garden. Breakfast in the beautiful breakfast room was also fantastic - excellent pastries, cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, cheeses and coffee. A great start to the day in a very attractive setting. We spent 4 days in a fantastic room overlooking the garden - spacious, double sinks, whirlpool tub, large glass shower. Then returned for 1 last night and stayed in a smaller room that was a bit too small to be comfortable....recommendation - spring for the larger rooms - your stay will be much more enjoyable. Overall - highly recommended!

More up market Hotel offering wonderful peace in the centre of the city and so close to the Duomo. Courtyard Parking was totally what we wanted but hard to get to - but then you did not need the car again until you left. Breakfast was not as wonderful as could be but totally adequate. Lovely garden and peace so needed in the middle of hectic sightseeing!

I went to Florence to visit my daughter who was studying abroad there. The Hotel Monna Lisa was a delightful oasis in the city with a beautiful garden, courtyard, solarium and lovely common areas filled with art and history. The breakfast was very generous with a beautiful dining room overlooking the garden. My main objection was the thinness of the walls between rooms. Also, my first room had a strong odor in the bathroom, but they changed my room the following day.

Excellent friendly efficient comfortable hotel within walking distance (even for us pensioners) from Duomo, Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, good restaurants. Leave the car in the courtyard for the duration of your stay! Don't tell your wife/girlfriend it's also near the shops!

We traveled with our kids (ages 9 and 12) and booked a quad room. They gave us two adjoining rooms which could be opened to connect to one another. One room had a larger bed – looked a bit smaller than our queen at home – so the two kids took that one. The adults took the two singles, which they had pushed together. We had two bathrooms and a little more space for suitcases compared to the other two quad rooms that we had in Italy. One room had a large closet. The layout of the property gives you the clear impression that this building was converted from another use. We had to walk through the breakfast room, and through a sitting room to get to the front lobby. There are various small sitting rooms with comfortable looking couches sprinkled around the place. The property décor is mainly a classic European look (with art, sculptures and mahogany) with a Mona Lisa sitting room showing that they don’t take themselves overly seriously. It had various comic pictures of the infinitely recognizable Mona Lisa wearing modern clothing (or scant or none) or holding different accessories. I had seen a picture of the courtyard empty, but it was filled with bushes and beautiful plantings. My wife stopped to take pictures of some of the flowers. The staff was helpful and friendly and provided us with various tips on restaurants and logistics. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, and of course, the Duomo is a short walk (10-15 minutes). It is also 15-30 minutes walk to the Accedemia (Michelangelo’s David), the Uffizi gallery, and the Ponte Vecchio bridge over the Arno river. For a short trip like ours, the convenience was much appreciated. As I indicated, we stayed in three hotels in Italy. all in about the same price range, but the other two were three stars. The charming and comfortable Monna Lisa was our favorite of the three.

The location was outstanding. The hotel is a very quiet oasis. The garden and other public rooms are very relaxing, after fighting the heat and crowds in town. The room - a small double - was satisfactory for a single traveler. It would have been a little small for two. The other rooms, opening up on the atrium garden, are much nicer and more romantic for two. The front desk employee(s) were very helpful with suggestions, times and reservations. I would definitely return for my next visit to Florence.

A lovely hotel in a great location, just a few blocks from the Duomo. Beautiful garden and breakfast room overlooking the garden. Breakfast was plentiful and good, too! I had a "classic single" room which was very small, but pretty and clean and quiet. The hotel is very hard to find if you're driving and not familiar with the city. This was my first trip to Firenze, and I arrived alone, after dark, in a rental car, with no one to help navigate. Despite excellent directions provided by the front desk, it took me a solid hour of driving to get there from the vicinity of the S. Maria Novella train staion--lots of one way, narrow streets and hard-to-find street signs. But once there, I was entirely happy. It is an easy walk to the Duomo, the Uffizi, the Accademia, San Lorenzo, etc. Staff was pleasant and helpful. I will absolutely try to stay there on my next trip to Firenze!

Hotel and rooms were lovely, but expensive in July. Front desk staff was very, very helpful with directions, restaurant recommendations and reservations, and general questions -- especially Monica. We had a very good dinner, and enjoyed watching the World Cup at a nice, small restaurant down the street--kitty corner from the Irish Pub. The hotel's morning breakfast offering was quite nice. Would love to stay there again if we return to Florence -- preferably in the 'off season.' We could only spend 4 days/3 nights in Florence; but the Monna Lisa was very much a part of a very memorable vacation. Judy, Peter, and Katie Webb

The Monna Lisa exceeded our expectations primarily due to the lovely entry, the elegant reception areas, the breakfast room, and the spectacular garden courtyards. The central location was terrific and enabled us to walk anywhere we wanted. The staff was accomodating, and quickly repaired our air conditioning units which were not working. They also directed us to one of the best restaurants in Florence...La Giostra...which was just steps away from the Monna Lisa. It was a must! The breakfast fare was quite nice...but not overboard. Our group ranged from 23 years old to over 80 years....and all of us loved our stay at the Monnna Lisa. We hope to return....often.

This is a beautiful hotel where you can feel the history. If you want to stay how travelers have stayed for centuries, this is the place. There is no elevator but a bellman helps with the bags. There are several public areas that are quiet and relaxing. Breakfast consisted of a great selection of standard Italian fare. The hotel is an easy walk from the main attractions in the center of town although the narrow street it's on is poorly lit at night and off the beaten track. I was traveling solo and always felt safe. The room itself could use updating or a good steam cleaning. The bathrooms are updated but the wallcoverings/bed/linens/tv etc are circa 1950s.

We loved our stay here! The room was beautiful with a balcony that overlooked a beautifully lanscaped courtyard. We definitely had one of the older rooms, so try to get a newer room if you stay there...the new rooms are all the higher numbers, I think rooms 20+. But we still thought our room was quaint and cozy...large rooms for Europe! There was no lift, but the bellman happily lugged our bags up two flights of stairs. The front desk staff was incredibly helpful in booking tours for us, making restaurant suggestions and dinner reservations and made our stay thoroughly enjoyable!! The hotel itself, although on a narrow, one-way street, was very well located and close to many restaurants and shops. Our room was $150/night in early November for a Double Superior, which I think was an extremely good price since the booklet said those rooms go for up to $350. But don't let the satellite TV claim fool you...at the Monna Lisa, as well as the other hotels we stayed at, satellite tv meant CNN at best! We would definitely stay here again on our next trip!!

This hotel was a very good value. Although you were in the heart of the city, it seemd like a garden setting in the courtyard. Very attractive sitting rooms and a free internet setup. Breakfast was good except for head waiter who was rude. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The Mona Lisa was a nice hotel, but a bit high priced. The air conditioning in the room did not work. On check-out, the front desk said that we should have mentioned it earlier, as this is controlled by computer. Not sure what the thermostat is for, in this case.

Great hotel and helpful staff. In a great location. Lovely surrounding, lovely gardens. Very good directions on the website, we drove there and found it easily with the directions. Small rooms for the price - but I think quite typical for Italy. Car parking was 20 euro per day which I thought was a bit pricy. Would stay again for sure.

Beautiful rooms in a charming old palace - a little off the beaten track. Plan on walking a few extra blocks anytime you want to go somewhere. Staff could not have been more helpful. Remember to ask for museum reservations. Breakfast very nice in an absolutely gorgeous room. Great garden. Just a little expensive for the location. Would stay there again, but might look around just because of location.

My room was tiny but pleasant, and I loved that it opened to the courtyard where I could look at the flowers and hear bells of the nearby Campanile ringing. The hotel's location was perfect, close to walk to the sights, but quiet to stay when done. The little computer room with its half moon window to the garden and chairs for two was especially gratifying. All in all, it was a charming respite from standardization that I very much enjoyed.

Although I stayed only overnight, this was a hotel I could recommend. The setting and ambience were charming, the building had a real sense of history. My room was fine. There were a few details which might be improved. The wallpaper was peeling, the TV control didn't work, and the bin hadn't been emptied from the previous occupant. Overall though, this was a world away from a large chain hotel, and so you could forgive the unimportant details. Breakfast was good. The Hotel is within easy walking distance of the centre. I'd go there again.

It is a very nice hotel within the city centre. The small garden is especially lovely and you can sit ther under the sun, smell the favour of the roses and then relax for the whole afternoon. The price is a bit expensive but it is expensive for all the hotels in Florence anyway.

I was a bit disappointed by the Monna Lisa based on a comparison to the other 4 star accomodations we stayed at in Rome and Tuscany. Our room was large, but very modest with somewhat worn draperies, rugs, and bed spread. We stayed in the annex building, so I can't say whether the rooms in the main inn were better. Although it is located in a quiet area, there was construction next door, so it became very noisy about 9 am. The location wasn't bad, but I would have like being closer to the city center. I realize the prices are high in Florence, but the price for Monna Lisa seemed too high for the location and ambiance of the hotel.
