very central place with a great view from the roof terrasse, We missed exttremly an air condition - the rooms did'nt got cold! It would be nice tho have some boards and some hooks for cloth in the rooms. und the persons in the breakfastroom could be a little polite!

I have travelled the world, and this was my first time in to visit Florence and this hotel captured everything , from the view of il Duomo to its' central location , and its' simplicity , i.e no gimics in our room , no television or internet, just a spotlessly clean room, a great shower and a , polite friendly staff ! I cannot wait to come back and stay there !

My family and I enjoyed our stay the staff were very nice and accommodating. It was a very spacious apartment like set up with air-conditioning. Would have been great to have a refrigerator and a microwave oven for this kind of set up. Overall we enjoyed our stay! good value for the price!

The hotel is good deal for the money. The view from the roof is so beautiful. I would recomend this hotel to young people or single travellers. The only thing that I did not like was the bathroom. It is very small and the shower is not separated from the rest of the room. So, when you shower, everything gets wet. But the room was cleaned every day, so it did not get wet and dirty. And also, the streets are quite noisy. But who wants to sleep while staying in beautiful Florence? From the hotel you can reach everything by walking. I really loved my Florence vacantion :-)

We were given an apartment a short walk from the hotel reception. The apartment was very spacious, but as it was in a converted roof/attic it got quite warm through the day. The location was excellent- 2 minutes from the Duomo so there was plenty of activity and as a result outside noise. The building itself was very quiet.

Great location to everything in Florence. But very noisy room as the windows don't close properly. Btw, the location per Google Map is wrong, and the hotel is located in a pedestrian only area of the city.

They should just inform you in advance when, due to overbooking, you are send to an apartmanet and not given a romm in the hotel main location. So that one may chose weather accepting it or not, I personally prefere to remain in the hotel, that' s all

due to the unavailability of rooms in the hotel we were moved to an apartment with none of the benefits an apartment rental provides. we had no access to the kitchen, fridge, internet or TV. we had to walk 3 blocks to go for breakfast in the hotel which was extremely basic, tea/coffee, bread toasts and jam. the highlight of the hotel was the terrace with a great view of the dome (as seen in pics in the listing)

Wow...great location and value for money! Make sure you visit the 6th floor roof terrace for the most amazing view of Duomo...it feels like you could reach out and touch it! Amazing value for a very clean basic room with balcony plus a basic continental breakfast is included. Visit Osteria Dell Agnolo at Borgo S. Lorenzo 248 (just behind Duomo) for excellent food at a reasonable price! We will definitely be back at the Hotel Medici....thank you.

The location was perfect and the front desk staff were very helpful. Breakfast was not that great but we did not expect much. The rooms were great and we enjoyed the terrace with its beautiful views. Great value for the rates. Thanks for a great time in Florence!

Great location. The breakfast left something to be desired. It was basically dinner rolls and butter and jelly. The bathroom was small but workable. The room was good sized, but very spare of furnishings. The rooftop plaza was outstanding.

The worst was the breakfast. Was really poor. The last two days we went to have our "cafe latte" at the corner bar!. It would have been grate to have air conditioning in the room, the first night was impossible to sleep. In general we had a good time there!.

We stayed in Florence for 3 nights. And we didn't sleep well at all. The beds are hard et pillows very thin... The environnement was noisy late at night and very early in the morning. The breakfast served at the hotel is a real joke. Coffee was hawful and we only had some bread, crackers, butter and jam... The only morning we took it there, we went out to eat again...

Absolutely abysmal hotel. Not clean by any standards. No air con so very very noisy when trying to sleep with windows open. Staff indifferent - public area totally lacking in any useful tourist information. The breakfast was the worst I have ever had in 5 visits to Italy as was the hotel generally. If the view of the Duomo is the be all and end all for your stay in Florence then book but if not stay well clear. Staying at an hotel as bad as this could almost put you off Florence and that really takes some doing. Other than being very close to the Duomo and having an impressive view of the same from the rooftop there was absolutely no other redeeming feature whatsoever. Avoid at all costs.

I had a little trouble convincing the guy at the front desk I had reserved two rooms. Other than that they were ver helpful. Decour and furniture is beyond minimalist: a bed, a night table barely able to withstand the weight of a lamp a small desk and a chair. No mirror. The shower was inadequate, measuring some 40 cm by 60 cm. One of our rooms was between the kitchen and the (very ample!) breakfast room, making it impossible to sleep beyond 7 am. Still it is unexpensive and perfectly located a few steps away from the Piaza della Republica. Good option if you are traveling cheap, else its beast avoided.

the hotel has an excellent location, realy just 100 m from the Duomo, so we could enjoy the nightlife, the staff was helpfull, unfortunately between 6:00 am and 7:30 the streets close to the hotel were cleaned and we were woken up because it was very noisy, we had room for 4, but it seems to be duble room originaly and just 2 beds were added, so there was not enough space, even thought I will recomend this accomodanion to my friends, just it will be better to take two duble rooms instead of one quadruple

The Medici offers a great feature, which is what attracted me to this hotel: their rooftop terrace. The city view is breathtaking, the terrace itself is very welcoming with tables and chairs and plants. Very nice. Our room had a window to the street, so it was extremely noise, specially on Sat. night when all the people were out and about until 3-4am. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay, this is not it, but if you don't mind the city noisy. The hotel has an elevator, which is very helpful with the luggage. The room was spacious, bathroom was also large and clean. No t.v. or phone (ok with us!) Overall, very pleasant stay. Location of hotel is great!! close proximity to most mayor attractions.
Australia, Jul 2008
Service and attitude of staff was patchy, some good some bad. Excellent location and great value for money considering the location. Roof terrace has huge potential and great view across Florence but untidy & unattractive .... with a clean up and a rooftop bar would be fabulous. Rooms were clean & spacious bathroom compact but serviceable.

Excellent location in the heart of Florence with a fabulous view of the Duomo from the terrace. Although the rooms on the 5th floor were comfortable, during the night there was some noise coming from the HVAC of the building across the street. The food offered for breakfast was limited to bread rolls and jelly. Next time I will be in Florence, I will definitely return to the Hotel and I will recommend it to my friends.

My overall review is good for the Medici Hotel...The things I would like to highlight is that there was no central heating...(there was hot water fortunately) and that towels, linens and duvets provided by the hotel were old and of bad quality. But, the location is so central and helps you to forget all the above small problems.

This is a very reasonable hotel for the price. The room was very basic, but spacious. No TV. Lovely view of the Doumo, while you’re on the toilet! :) There was a very odd shower in that it was just the faucet coming out of the wall - tiles noted the shower “area” but there were no doors or anything. And there was another odd faucet coming out of the wall by the toilet. A European thing that we’re not familiar with perhaps? Our door did not lock properly and the dead lock did not work. We made our own security system out of an empty Bellini bottle. Breakfast was the most basic we had in Europe – 1 roll each, packet of hard toast, American coffee, tea or juice. That’s it. Staff at breakfast was not friendly, but the breakfast room was nice. There is an elevator, location is great! Front desk staff was helpful when we needed them, otherwise they stayed to themselves. Overall, good value for the money. Inexpensive and very basic and best for the low-maintenance traveler.

In reference to the Hotel Medici, we were immediately underwhelmed by the rather cold, smug reception at the front desk. However, other front-desk attendants were incredibly warm and helpful. The breakfast was abysmal: meager, served grudgingly, lacking in general. In fact, I had to go after it in order to be served. The rooftop space is spectacular, however. The room was quite small, understood, but without the recourse of even a television during days of pouring rain, its smallness was claustrophobic and stifling. The surroundings are corporate-commercial, not what one would expect of Florence, just off the Duomo. This is not the hotel's fault, but soured our expectations nevertheless. I would not recommend the place in general, unless you plan to only sleep there, nothing else.

The hotel was fine for our one night stay, but I will mention things that others may want to know. In the lobby and elevator it smelled like sourkraut or sewage. But the rooms did not smell. We had 2 crying babies next to us, walls are thin. There is not a TV in the room and the towels are like tabelcloth material. We joked that it was like a monastary becasue there wasn't much to the room. Staff answered all questions although they weren't always happy to do it. Breakfast was the night before's dinner rolls. But it was clean, safe, and also in an EXCELLENT location within walking distance of everything you would want to see or do.

On holiday in Firenze for 2 nights/3 days, location was much more than expected, room had view overlooking the Duomo & one block from Piazza del Republica, 2 blocks from Uffizi Gallery, Town Square, Ponte Vecchio etc, very central to all tourist spots. Florence streets can sometimes be diffucult for transporting luggage & you can easily get disoriented with directions. Would ALWAYS recommend friends & family to Hotel Medici!

The hotel has been completely refurbished since I was last there four years ago, and they have done a good job. The location, in the city centre near the cathedral, is the outstanding feature. The terrace has superb views. Try to get a 5th or 6th floor room with a cathedral view. The only drawback is that the hotel can be a bit noisy with sounds from the street and from neighbouring buildings.

LA UBICACION ES EXCELENTE. hOTEL TOTALMENTE RENOVADO CON ALGUNOS DESAJUSTES AUN A NIVEL EDILICIO PERO NADA IMPORTANTE. NO MUY BUENA LA ATENCION DURANTE EL DESAYUNO Y ALGUNAS DIFICULTADES CON LOS CERRAMIENTOS POR LOS QUE SE FILTRA EL RUIDO QUE PRODUCE POR LA MAÑANA TEMPRANO DE LA ACTIVIDAD COMERCIAL.

Great location, right of republicana square, 2 blocks to duomo, 2 blocks to point de vechio. Ask for 5 or 6 floor rooms. 6 Floor has balcony and chairs/tables for relaxing. 5 has some private balconies. Great views, great location. Problems with evevator a few times unavailable. Continental breakfast, terrible coffee and mostly bread. Better grab a cappacion on the street.

This was a wonderful hotel in a terrific location with amazing views from the rooftop. The bathrooms were particularly spacious. My only frustration was that the phone in the room didn't work and there were no other phones to use in the building. Overall, an excellent hotel for the price.

It seems to be common practice in Europe to over book the Hotels in convinent locations and then send you over to other one. in our case they send us over another Hotel ( Fenrando de medici) 2 blocks away , with very good location but the original hotel was 2 stars while the one given to us was 1 star.
