We had two rooms, the one facing the courtyard was very quiet, but had a very small bathroom with no tub. The other room (street-side) was comfortable, but extremely loud. There was loud music until very late, then in the early morning (4-5 am) we had loud sounds of metal clanging, street vendors setting up, chatting and finally the many trash trucks going up the street. Location was great, however.

Great location, between the Duomo and Uffizi. Do not miss Palazzo Pitti either. Friendly and helpful staff. Showerhead holder was broken and they had it fixed the next day, so that was great! Prices very reasonable. Great for a shopping expedition as close to the main shops in the town centre.

We stayed in Florence for 4 days 3 nights (since we took a day trip to Chianti and San Gimignano). The location was exellent! Very close to the Duomo, right in the center of the city, walking distance to everywhere! Free internet for hotel guests, which is a great plus! a nice breakfast with a very helpfull staff! The room is adequate, clean, but a little older,so the bathroom could use some work, but generally a great value for the price - the location, great breakfast and internet make up for it! Not a fan of not being able to take the key with you, and it closes at 1am, so you don't have complete freedom, but they will give you a passcode if you are planning to return later.

The Hotel Maxim has an incredible location: right in the heart of Florence. You can easily walk to almost anyplace you'd like to visit. Although the room was not large, it was certainly large enough for us with our sprawlingly large bags. Who goes to Florence to hang out in the hotel room anyhow? Take a left going out the door, take a left at the street and go to Robiglio's--my favorite coffee place in Florence. The Maxim has two computers for guests to use. I think that computer use has become so pervasive in Italy that there are fewer public internet "points" so this is another reason to recommend The Maxim.

The hotel is located in one the most busy streets of Florence with good shops, restaurants , famous monuments ( Duomo ) and squares. If you arrive by train the hotel is ten minutes of walking. Our room number 23 was very closely the lift and passage to other rooms and there was many young people arriving late night and make noisy.Breakfast was good.

Employees were helpful but I'm sorry to say that this was a horrible experience, appart from that. To start, we were give room #4, which turned out to be with a handicapped accessible bath. The toilet was fit for a horse...I had nightmares about it, and was constantly scared to fall into it- that's how big it was. The shower was just a corner of the bathroom with sloped floor. The curtain and the grout were black with mold. The room was decently clean but in need of painting the walls. We complained the next morning and they gave us a room in front of the luggage closet. A much nicer room. The shower area still had mildew, but a bearable quantity. And no matter which of the rooms, the noise from upstairs started early and very loud. I know it's economic, but beware; there are much nicer hotels for that price.

The hotel is right in the middle of all the key places which is great. One really bad thing: the wall(s) between my room and the other rooms is almost paper thin, I basically heard the guy next door snore all night which was pretty annoying. Breakfast was good, service was acceptable, elevator is a plus since the hotel is located in a 4th floor. Two free internet connections aailable 24/7 was very good. The drywalls between rooms is horrible, I couldn't sleep one of the two nights I was there due to noise/snoring coming from other room.

The owner and the staff were so pleasant that I almost feel bad writing a horrible review, but my experience was so bad that I am compelled to warn others. I read mixed reviews about this place but gave it the benefit of the doubt. On arrival, my room was made up but not cleaned (hair on toilet seat & in drain, very dirty bed sheets, cups and bottles on desk). When I complained I was given a room in their sister hotel downstairs for 1 of my 2 nights(not much improvement - another story). When I returned to my original room, it appeared clean and was reasonably comfortable (but very thin walls). In the morning when I showered (by closing a curtain over the bathroom door - no proper cabinet) the curtain was black with wet mold, the floor drain did not work and the entire room flooded. I raced to get out. When I complained at check out, I was given a discount and a warm appology. I'd like to give this place the benefit of the doubt... but be forewarned.

Excellent! me and my sister-in-law were very much satisfied with all the services extended to us by the employees. food were all delicious, well organized, orderly, clean and on time. location was very accessible to train station, to tourist spots esp. basilica church, just few steps away from the hotel, academia, uffizzi, ponte vecho. hotel employees were very helpful, pleasant and considerate. hotel rooms were also spacious, always clean, well lighted, quiet..comfortable and change often bedsheet, towels and pillow cases. no problem for the eateries..restaurant were just around the corner, fruits stand and department stores were all close to the hotel. we felt our stay at the hotel was very short because we really enjoyed our stay. am now recommending to my friends this hotel ,MAXIM and if i will have the chance to go back again in florence, definitely i'll choose MAXIM hotel again.

We have booked hotels previously through Venere and always cosidered the reviews by guests to be one of the main factors alongside location in making our descision. This time, however, we were disappointed. We read comments about this being two star but should be three, not what we found. The facilities were adequate, the breakfast selection meagre, the towels provided very poor, cleanliness of room doubtful. Having said this the hotel could not have been in a better position in Florence central to all you would wish to see and near enough to the station as you would want to be, as we spent all day and evening out of the hotel it was OK. I suppose you get what you pay for is the lesson learned!

The location on the main street was excellent, but a little loud, but they installed soundproofing in the window so it was virtually silent when closed. We stayed in room 20 right off the lobby and you could hear people walking by in the hotel. Bathroom was VERY small and awkward; you basically had to shower on the toilet (really). Staff was VERY nice and friendly and helpful. Towels were wafer thin, and there was an accordian-style door on the bathroom which did not aid in privacy and was loud to open/close at night. Two free internet/computers was very nice. Property is on the 3rd floor of the building and the entrance is very commercial-looking.

I really loved how this hotel is a between the Duomo and Piazza Replubica and it's just a 2 minute walk to go to each place. Located right in the middle of everything. Room was very clean and spacious although the decor did not strike me as anything fancy. Very 80s, cold war, socialist decor. Again, no elevators to the room, receptionist and lobby is on the 3rd floor. They provide free interet in the lobby which is nice. Staff was very friend and helpful in terms of providing assistance and information. Plus, they must have ran out of rooms, we got a room with an extra single bed, which probably made the room larger. Overall, nice and pleasant stay. Excellent location. Definitely worth a recommendation.

If you are in Florence for a couple of days and want to be close to everything, location wouldn't get much better than this. Despite the room overlooking Via dei Calzaiuoli, it was very well soundproofed, and with an excellent air conditioning unit it provided a very quiet and comfortable stay. Room was quiet small though had a double bed, the bathroom even smaller, but overall the hotel represents excellent value for money and I wouldn't hesitate to book here again next time I am in Florence.

Maxim was a great hotel to stay at in Florence. If I was to go back to visit I will stay at Maxim again. The location is great, the rooms are in good condition, the air conditioning worked and the staff was very welcoming. The only negative side is that the air conditioning was linking and hence wet the floor and we had to put towels on the damped area.

Il peggiore albergo mai visto!Sporchissimoo, mal tenuto, mal arredato.

Don't be fooled by the exterior of the building -- it looks very seedy. But once you get up the stairs and into the room, it is quite nice. The shower curtain was VERY moldy, but otherwise the room appeared to be clean. The AC worked great, the staff was helpful, and FREE INTERNET! Great place, we loved it, great location, room was very spacious, clean, and quiet. Air worked just fine. Breakfast was good. Staff knew very good english and was very helpful. One staff memeber even offered to take us on a personal tour of Florence, but we couldn't due to a wine tour we set up. BTW, make sure you do a Tuscany wine tour, we did it for about $50 and it was well worth it. Make sure you bring a hair dryer, the one they supply is not that good. We really enjoyed our stay here. The location was awesome! The room was clean and the breakfast area was very nice and we liked the self-serve style rather than having someone wait on us. It was great having free internet access as well! We have NO complaints and would totally stay here again.

Stayed at Maxim three days, great location, loved the breakfasts in roomy dining room, and loved internet room. Kinda non-descript entrance on busy pedestrian street, but one block from duomo!

I was very disappointed in this place. The double bed was 2 fold up cots pushed together, and the bathroom was tiny, even by European standards - by far the worst room and hotel of our entire stay in Italy - I would most definitely not recommend staying here, unless you don't care about the bed or bath and only care about location

Nice hotel. Great location. A little difficult to drive to but once there it is a perfect location. Breakfast was great. Water pressure was quite low in the mornings. The location and price made up for the low water pressure.

Given the excellent location, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of rooms. We would definitely go there again, despite of some loud music from outside one of the nights (probably a singular incident from one of the adjacent hotels.)

The staff was wonderful, the location could not have been more convenient. The only complaints we might have would be that the door to the hotel was left open in the late evening so anyone could walk in, and no employee was at the desk. Breakfast, while adequate, was one that would not tempt one to eat much.

This hotel is in an ideal location. You walk out the door and you are there in the heart of everything! However it's not noisy either. It is a basic hotel but for a 2 star is better then I expected and better then some 3 star places I stayed. There is no mini bar or phone (probably why it's only 2 star). They do provide free internet access which is very handy.

Great location. Our room (N 16) was very spacious and quiet (court side). The morning reception lady was very nice and helpful. The breakfast was quite ok. But the most impoertant is that all main attractions are in walking distance. The icecream shop next door is not the best you can find in this best icecream country in the world, try others.

We stayed in Firenze for several times, this is the third time in Maxim. It has a really nice location, its right in the center. You can get everywhere within a heartbeat. We like the price of Venere, if you book on Maxims site its far more expensive. The rooms are very big, the only thing we did not like was that we had a invalid bathroom. Everything was wet when we showered.

Although the hotel was located right in the middle of Florence, we had a quiet room and slept well. All the sights are in walking distance, which was very comfortable. The only problem, when coming by car is finding a suitable parking space as you are not allowed to enter Florence city centre by car, which meant we had to walk quite a bit to get there. The breakfast was rather poor even for italian conditions. However price/quality ratio was good, so if you're looking for a stay in city center the Maxim should be a good choice.

Hotel Maxim is in a great location. 2 minute walk to the Duomo and 5 min stroll to the Uffizi Gallery/Ponte Vechio. We had a room in the newly renovated Hotel Axial,a sort of hotel within a hotel. Breakfast was sumptuous. Best part: There are 4 computers that guests can use to access the internet for free. Only gripe and its a minor one....shower stall did not have a caddy to hold soaps and shampoos. Also, can be a little noisy. One night a local band was playing at the nearby Piazza Republica until 1am...and in the morning delivery trucks rumbled through.Might be a problem if you are a light sleeper.

CONCLUSION: LO MEJOR LA UBICACION Y EL TRATO FUE BASTANTE AGRADABLE.

Great location in the center of Florence. the hotel is nevetheless a little bit noisy due to the bells of the Duomo ringing... anyway, I would recommend this hotel as it has a very good quality/price ratio.

The hotel location is just perfect. Just few steps from the Duomo, so you can plan your days perfectly to visit almost everything from early morning. The breakfast was just ok, nothing special. I did not like that they use plastic glasses... But anyway. The rooms are very good size. The towels are very very thin, but it is ok. For the price, I don't know, because we payed the same amount for a hotel 4* in Bologna, but it must be because Florence is more turistic. Anyway, I would recommend this hotel. Thanks.

Maxim has a great location, only about two blocks from il Duomo. The greeting area of the hotel has a cozy sitting area, and has a computer for guests to use, which is a nice touch. My only complaint with Maxim is that my room had poor sound insulation between the hall and the room. Whenever somebody walked down the corridor on the hardwood floor, I could hear them.

Nice hotel in great location. The only complaint we had was that we had asked for a quiet room, but we ended up close to the dining area and were woken up early in the morning as they were preparing for breakfast. The water temperature in the bathroom fluctuated a lot from cold to really hot (but maybe that's just life in an ancient city). Otherwise, it was a really nice stay. Good amenities, including free internet and good breakfast. We booked 8 hotels thru venere.com and all of them turned out as were advertised.

Two heterosexual male travelers staying in a double room. we pushed the beds apart so to have more privacy. Breakfast was great in the morning, staff were extremely helpful. One out of two of the computers was working but the majority of the time it was available when we needed it to be. Clean. Affordable. Perfect location right in the middle of the historic center.

Of all of the hotels we stayed in on our trip, this was probably the best one. The location was amazing, being just a couple blocks walk to three of the main squares in Florence. The people that work there were extremly nice. They had free internet and drinks available for sale in the lobby. Our room looked out onto one of the main streets, but the windows had heavy duty shutters that even shut out the noise after Italy beat Germany in the World Cup. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. The one negative would be the bathroom. The shower didn't have an enclosure and the toilet was in the shower. A very small negative.

This hotel room looked just like the pictures on the internet. However, what it did not show was the very basic condition of the bathrooms. When the shower was used the whole bathroom floor was wet. In my son's room, the toilet was in the shower stall. Whenever you took a shower, the toilet got wet and the floor was flooded in the bathroom. We choose this because of it's location and price. The location was great, due to the bathroom situation, it was not worth it. In addition, we had a problem with the air conditioning in both rooms. In one room you could not have the TV on if you wanted the air conditioning to work. I suggest this hotel needs to upgrade some features and make sure the mechanicals are working properly for the rooms.

We stayed in a number of small hotels and B & B's during our three weeks in Europe. The Maxim ranks right up there with being a fine facility. We were in the newly renovated section, with internet access and a pleasant breakfast room. It's location was superb; generosity of staff, particularly the owner's son and the evening staff person, was wonderful. We faced the street, but were not disturbed by the noise. We'd recommend the Maxim to other guests.
