A small and decent budget hotel, with good value for the money. We stayed two nights in a double room from the 17th to the 19th of September 2009. We payed 76€, nothing in advance (I think). Location: The hotel is located just out of the historic city of Florence. It is 1.5 km from the Duomo (la cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore), which is a 20 minutes walk. It is 2.3 km away from the Santa Maria Novella train station, about a 30 minutes walk, or a 15€ cab ride (In the daytime for two). There is a bus stop close to the hotel, with lines going past the Duomo and the Santa Maria Novella train station (at least bus lines 11 and 17 and I think also 20). The Via Masaccio is quite heavy trafficated, so if you are troubled by noise you should ask for a room away from the street. Room: The hotel is rather small, with only nine rooms. The rooms have an all right standard for a budget hotel, and are equipped with shower and a sink, but with shared toilets. There are two toilets to share. The shower wasn't new or spacious but worked fine. During our stay there was trouble with clogging on one of the toilets, which wasn't exactly appetizing. But I hope this was a temporary problem, and at least there was a second toilet next to the reception. The double bed was made up of two singles, and the spring mattrasses were quite uncomfortable, but it works if you're not picky. Restaurant/breakfast: There was a small restaurant service in the hotel, with simple and cheap food. There was a very small breakfast for 5€ a person, but it wasn't much to write home about. A croissant with coffee, and rolls or dry crackers with yam or butter cheese. There was a supermarket 300 m to the right on Via Masaccio where you could get a better breakfast for a quarter of the price, and eat it in the park next to the bus stop for example. Internet: There was free wireless internet in the hotel (free-hotspot.com), and you gat a card with a login code from the reception to get ac

The hotel has good conditions, good located, but it will be so helpful to especify clearly how to arrive sindce the airport, train and bus stations, cuase take us 90mins to find the right direction, but after that it wasw so quick to go to the centre, for the rest very very godo without luxuries but fine.

This hotel is not for families with small children or light sleepers. There are no curtains that can remain closed while the windows are open; as soon as you open a window to let some fresh air in, mosquitoes enter. The owner needs to fix this by hanging some mosquito protection over the windows.

It should have been marked as a camp ground. very hard to find and not close to any thing. I would not stay there again or recomend it to any one.

Very nice familial hotel, close to the center of Florence, ask the friendly landlord (whom travelled all over the world! Hi!) for advices of how to visit the city and the suroundings . The size of the rooms is decent, comfortable bed. The bathroom in the room is quite small but clean. I recommend this place!

Room was very nice. There was no A/C, but fan was provided...so it was ok. Bathroom was a little too small. Breakfast for 4 euros was good. Location was ok...about 1 km from main attractions. Overall, I liked the place for the price (80 euro a night in peak season)

I stayed in Masaccio in June 2007 with my girlfriend on our Italy roundtrip. The hotel is very conveniently located near the center of Florence and therefore most sighseeing can be done by foot to avoid the crazy Florence traffic. The hotel has nice family atmosphere and the owner is nice and helpful. On the downside, our room was very dark and humid and not perfectly clean. However, given the location the overall impression was okay.

We found the staff to be fantastically helpful and friendly. Our room over looked a very busy street and it was noisy especially on Saturday night. However, we still enjoyed our stay.

When we ordered, there were 2 options: double room with shower or double room with bathroom. Thinking that the only difference will be a shower or a tub we ordered the double room with shower, but apparantly, a double room with shower means that there is no toilet in the room!!! you have a shower, you have a sink but the toliet was shared with other three rooms! what the F**k! Other than that the bed was owful - too soft like a hammock, there was no elevator so I had to carry a heavy suitcase 3 floors, breakfast is 4euros extra and parking is on the street so you will have to pay. In spite of all these problems, the owner(or receptionist) was very simpathetic and nice, but I would not come back to this hotel again and would not recommend it to others...but then again, it all depends on what you look for.

The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. The location of the hotel was great. We were just a short walk from the city center and all major attractions. The train station was just a short bus trip away. We were however disappointed with the room. A room with a bath is just that. You get a shower and a sink, but where is the toilet? It is at the end of the hall. We only hoped that those in before us had not showered in there as it does tend to get wet. The hotel is on a very busy street and a lot of traffic noise continues throughout the night. You cannot sleep with the windows open. It is almost impossible to sleep with the windows closed on a slightly warm evening. Make sure you stop at the market (just down the block) to pick up some pastries for breakfast as the breakfast in the on-site bar will set you back 5 Euro.

Great staff, fluent English spoken. Remote location but walkable from Duomo area and/or Accademia. Hotel is mediocre but clean.
