It's very nice, the employees are always very kind (you can ask them to book for you dinner in a special restaurant or tikets for the museums)... and Florence is breathtaking, it doesn't matter how many time you visit the city, it's always wonderful!

The hotel is in a good location, a five minute walk form the train station, and a casual fifteen minute from the Duomo. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the city. I was given a map of the city and directions around town. My room was very clean upon arrival and was cleaned everyday. The breakfast was good and ready a seven sharp. There are many fine restaurants close to the hotel. I ate at several of them and never had a bad meal. If I return to Florence I will definitely stay at Mario's.

The hotel staff were very friendly and could not have been more helpful in recommending restaurants, booking taxis etc. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the City Centre although the street it is on is relatively quiet.

What a great hotel!! I have stayed in many hotels throughout Italy and Europe and this was one of my favorites!! Leonardo and Omar were so helpful and accomodating. The rooms were spacious and very clean/modern. We enjoyed sitting in the lounge/bar area having cappucinos or wine and relaxing. It is located conveniently to the train and all major attractions, stores, restaurants and bars. I highly reccommend this hotel. Hopefully we will return to Florence and return To Hotel Mario!!! You will not be disappointed!

The hotel was located within easy walking distance of major sights. The staff was terrific. The evening pot of tea in the lounge was a terrific way to end the day (or if you prefer a drink that is also available). The rooms were spacious and well appointed.

The staff makes this hotel and the rooms are comfortable. The location is a short 1 minute walk from the central station. Careful with the address as Florence can have more than one of the same addresses on one street.

Good hotel, comfortable and large enough room and bathroom, altough lacking some renovation, nice and helpful staff, good breakfast, excellent location, close to train station and main attractions, favorable cost/benefit. Some noise from upstairs, like furniture being moved, but not very annoying. I would stay there again, and recommend it. Aos brasileiros - bom hotel, bom preço, recomendo.

The room was small, but clean and comfortable. The location near railwaystation (but in the quiet place) is excellent for train travellers - about 5 minutes from station and about 15-20 minutes from historical city center (Duomo, Palazzo Veccio,...).

The room was spacious, clean and nicely appointed. The Hotel is located in a good location, just a short 8 minute walk from the main railway station. The main tourist sites of Florence are all in easy walking distance from the hotel and there are lots of good restaurants in the immediate area. The staff on the front desk were very attentive to any needs and were very pleasent. Breakfast each morning was great. If I were to visit Florence again I would stay at this Hotel.

I had such a good time at Mario's with my parents. We got a triple room, which, thankfully, had a double and a single bed. (For some reason, a lot of hotels have three single beds in their triples...) The staff was so nice, and the breakfast was fantastic-- cappuccinos, tea, pannetone (it was Christmas), buns, meats and cheeses, yogurt, and a really good selection of fresh fruit. The staff was really helpful in recommending restaurants, making reservations, and being nice to my parents, who love to chat up Italians in Spanish.

We are two catalan (Barcelona) couples middle-aged, with a long experience in travelling and we have had a good impression of our stay in Mario's. Firenze is a city which dont need special conditions of lodging because people loves to be all time outdoor, but when the tourist arrives at "home" needs a minimum of comfort and cleanliness and Mario's offers this conditions. The people we have meet were polite and respectful

The decoration of the room was charming, the beds were big, clean and comfortable and the only thing that should be improved are the bathrooms, which are a bit old and small, though very clean. The people in the reception was very professional, and although the building is old, the inside is well preserved

We were here 3 years ago,and loved the hotel. As soon as we arrived there was quite a change. The staff was very nice. But it wasn't Marios. I ask where Mario was.And was advised the hotel had been sold. It was misppointing. But I must say the new owner is trying. They just don't have the same Feeling Mario himself gave to the hotel.I wish them luck and hope they bring back the same High Standards. As I remember from my previous visit.

I reserved 2 single rooms for 2 people. But I was so surprised to know that one of the rooms had no space for toilet and shower in the room !! So I had to go to another place( not so far form my room, though ) with toilet and shower with key. However this was very inconvenient. I asked to change the room but the first day they had no roons available. Next day, I changed to another room with toilet and bathtab in the room fortunately. This is my very first experience

We stayed in a double room May 24-28, 2007. The staff were wonderful - conscientious, enthusiastic, and always helpful. The room itself was lovely, well-equipped, spacious and actually nicer than we expected given the excellent price. The bathroom was immaculate, with a great shower and American hotel-quality towels (which were replaced daily). Breakfast was a significant cut above the usual coffee-and-croissant and served in a charming dining room. Internet access is convenient (additional charge). The staff are happy to make reservations or provide advice, and are cheerful to a fault. The location is quite good and convenient to most major sights (everything is very "walkable" in Florence in any case). If you are walking from the train station be sure to follow the hotel's directions completely about the route to take; we made a mistake and ended up hauling suitcases over many more cobblestones than necessary. The "correct" route keeps the cobblestones down to a minimum and really is only 5 minutes from the train station. Despite the hotel's proximity to the train station (and that piazza's reputation for unsavoriness), we felt very safe at all times. We would most definitely stay at Hotel Mario's again and would recommend it to anyone.

Stayed in late April when temperature was in high 70s and hotel indicated they could not turn on air conditioning allowed the property was advertised as having AC. This meant leaving windows open to allow room to cool down at night which allowed the mosquitos and traffic noise in. Breakfast very forgettable.

For us it's a shame that the mario's hotel is too noisy and the breakfast room too small to be inmost because the people whose working there had been very nice and helpful for us and we thanks them. We've never been to Florence before.

Excellent hotel, small but boasting a very welcoming and warm atmosphere. There wasn't much to choose from for breakfast but everything was fresh and tasted great - quality over quantity! The hotel is on the first floor and there is no elevator but the receptionist was kind enough to help us with our luggage. Certainly recommended!

The staff at Mario's was very helpful and welcoming. They provided exactly what we booked for the price quoted. The atmosphere was comfortable, clean and quiet. We would definitely stay at Mario's again and recommend it highly.

We had a good stay at Mario's this past August. The room was clean and fairly large. Breakfast was simple and coffee was excellent. Only thing we didn't like was our room was right on the street across from a hostel. This meant we had to keep our window shut at night but we had no problem with noise, though. So ask for a room back from the street if you want to leave your window open. Overall a pleasant stay and we'd definitely go back again.

Overall, stay was pretty good. There were, however, some things which detracted from the stay, such as disorganized breakfast at which one often had to ask for food to be refilled; the housekeeping was adequate, but could have been better. The hot water also ran out every morning if you didn't catch a shower by about 8:00. It came back by 10:00 or so, but it was an inconvenience. The air conditioner struggled to keep the room cool. We were there for several nights, and had some noise from the room next door one night. The street where the hotel is located has a number of hotels on it, and a hostel across the street, but it wasn't too noisy. Strongly recommend the restaurant down the street called Enzo and Pietro - we had some of our best meals in Italy there. Finally, on the day we were departing, we had a disagreement with the management about a charge on the bill. I will only say that a bit of customer service instead of temper on the part of the management would have been greatly appreciated.

Family of 3 in Firenze for the first time. Mario's has great staff, excellent breakfasts, and very stylish decor. Located two blocks from the train station, and a short walk from the main sights in the city. There are about 10 first-rate restaurants within 200 metres of the hotel, but reserve a table a day in advance at the popular ones. We recommend Mario's very highly.

This is not a Chain Hotel. Mario's is a small family hotel with character. It is very close to the Rail Station (but could not hear any trains!) and within easy walk of many of Florence's main attractions. We loved it. The flight of stairs at the start are daunting, but I'm sure the staff would have assisted if required. Probably not geared for small children, but a great place for older families and couples.

Some severe mold on the wall in the shower was the only thing that made our stay less than perfect. The service at the front desk more than made up for any shortcomings elsewhere.
