We have had a very bad experience at this hotel at the beginning of our stay. The room we were offered at our arrival did not correspond to the photographs , one single bed and a campbed in a tiny room instead of twin beds or double bed whereas we had booked 4 months in advance and also paid in advance. We only got a more comfortable room on the day after because no other room available on the first night.

The hotel is near the train station and if you are traveling light is is manageable to get to the train station with your luggage in tow (but if you have too much luggage you will need a taxi who will charge you too much money for the short trip (14 Euro). This is the taxi service that the hotel called for us. The hotel rooms are nice. What we were really impressed with were the double pane double windows. Yes there were two sets of windows and this keeps the street noise out of your room. We were walking distance to many Florence attractions but had limited eating options right around the corner from the hotel. It was a nice hotel and they had the best breakfast options of all the hotels we stayed at in Italy. Weekdays the breakfast was better than weekends as the week guy did not appear to know what he was doing. We would consider staying at this hotel on our next visit.

I was very disappointed in the desk staff personnel. On the occassions that I interacted with them, they appeared more interested in completing their "work" at the computer than assisting me. Of the four accomodations we utilized on this trip, I would rate the desk staff lowest in charm or warmth. Too bad. By not making customers feel good about their choice of accomodations, eventually this staff may not have to worry about their "work".

Easy access to the train station along with good walking into around Florence. We had first stayed with our tour group and had confirmed our reservation the week before. However when we showed back up a week later they indicated they didn't have any rooms. It all worked out but it sure didn't feel like they wanted our business.

Close to train station and many major tourist landmarks in Florence. Bus services close to the hotel allows easy travel to all areas in and around the hotel. Suggested improvements would be quicker in responding to guest requests and installing some lighting on the oustside of the hotel at night.

Hotel Malaspina is a nice hotel. Staying there for some days it is excellent.we had a "triple-room" and the spacioness of the room was o.k. -the breakfast was also really o.k., good (and enough ! ) coffee, milk, tea, juices, ham and cheese, marmelade, eggs and corn-flakes. The only thing, that matters: Early in the morning you can hear the traffic-noises of many motor-cycles ( you have to close the window ). Sorry, but the air-condition was really very loud. The relationship between price and quality is very good.

Thankfully we only had booked this hotel for one night -- had we planned to stay longer it would have been a huge nightmare. The experience began with rude front desk staff that seemed annoyed that our Italian was not perfect. When we got to the room we found used towels in the bathroom and waited almost two hours before fresh ones arrived. The bathroom must have not been cleaned as the sink basin had shaving residue and the toilet seat was up when we arrived in the room. There was considerable street noise throughout the night that added to the bad experience. Top it off with a cold shower in the morning and we were more than ready to move on in our travels!

Ottimo hotel!

Would we stay here again? Absolutely Yes! Right on the Piazza del Independenze. Hotel staff recommended an awesome restaurant called Taverna Del Bronzino. Central to walk to all the sights (Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi, etc.) Venere is so easy, as we booked this hotel from an internet cafe in Siena. In quiet area of Florence in one of the fer parks, one way system made it a bit tricky to access. Parking expensive at 20 Euros a day but secure and individual. Close enough to access all areas by foot easily. Hotel receptionist (male)a bit unwelcoming but other staff fine. Breakfast was good, friendly waiter room for three was very spacious, unfortunately third bed was a put-up, not very substantial, but value for money. Room was very clean and comfortable. This hotel was the best we stayed at in our two weeks in Italy. It's location was in close walking distance to Florenec's major sites. It's proximity to the train and bus terminals made visitng surrounding villages easy. The room was the largest we experienced in the five hotels we stayed at. The mini-fridge allowed us to purchase drinks and fruit and kee them clod. The bathroom had both a combines tub and shower and a built in cord to facilitate ashing cloths. The AC was great which we greatly appreciated after sightseeing for ten hours in 104 degree heat. The breakfast, which was included, was the best of all the hotels which we stayed at. The staff was friendly and informative.

The Malaspina was everything we expected from reading Venere comments - staff could do with a course in customer relations, but other than that, the hotel was excellent. Good location, not too far away from San Lorenzo Market and the main railway station. We complained about broken bathroom light which was not fixed. My friend bought two drinks at the hotel "bar" which cost 16 Euros and we were ushered out of the area by the unwelcoming male receptionist (Concierge is too flattering a word to apply). My husband asked for another key to admit himself to our room, but was reluctantly given the least assistance by the same member of staff. Breakfast was better than other hotels of that standard. I'd recommend the Malaspina because it was well located and exceptionally clean, but customers may wish to spend their money somewhere more cheerful.

We had a little bit of trouble locating the hotel due to there not being a "street" in the given address. Once that was accomplished, we were very pleased. Although the park seemed a little deserted, the location proved to be easy walking distance to everything. In spite of its location the rooms were surprisingly quiet. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful upon arrival. The breakfast room was a little dingey, but everything else was great especially for the price.

The jotel was in fantastic location and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Unfortubnately there was some work goin on in the hotel at the time which meant there were periods of building noise and the electricity went off about three times. However the quality of the room, breakfast, its location to all the major sights and the friendliness of the staff for the price of 70 Euros a night made these minor problems insignificant to the enjoyment of our stay. I would recommend it to everyone

The Hotel Malaspina is in an excellent location only 10 minutes walk from the train & bus station one way and 10 minutes to the Duomo/Centro Storico the other way. The hotel is modern, clean and does not suffer from much noise being located on a large relatively quiet square. It is an advantage not being slap bang in the middle of the tourist sites as these areas are very noisy (both traffic and people). My room was clean with aircon/heating cable tv and minibar. The only downside of the room was the bathroom - not much bigger than a cupboard! However, that was more than made up for by the excellent breakfast - by far the best I've had in any equivalent Italian hotel. The reception staff don't come over as the happiest people I've ever met but were helpful when asked and polite. I would certainy return.

The Malispina is a fine family-run hotel in the heart of Florence. We were there over the Christmas holidays, and the staff was very helpful in finding restaurants during the holidays, and arranging taxis when needed. Breakfast was pleasant, although simple. The rooms were close to austere, but large and pleasant. Beds were firm and good for sleeping. We had plenty of heat, and the rooms were pretty quiet despite our presence on the first floor near the street. The hotel assigned two rooms to our family, which were close to each other and made our stay more pleasant. The location was excellent. Overall, we were quite happy with our stay at the Malispina.

SEVERAL PROBLEMS IN THE ROOM WERE ADDRESSED ONLY ON THE 2ND TO LAST DAY WHEN THE MANAGER LEARNED ABOUT THEM, OTHERWISE SOME OF THE PEOPLE AT THE FRONT DESK SEEMED NOT TO CARE THAT WE WERE THERE. NEIGHBORHOOD IS GOOD WITH SEVERAL NICE RESTAURANTS, 10 MINUTES FROM CITY CENTER ON FOOT, A PARK OUT THE FRONT DOOR, 10 MINUTES WALK TO TRAIN STATION. SAFE AREA--JUST WATCH FOR LOCAL ITALIAN MEN WHO DON'T MOVE OVER ON THE SIDEWALK AND LET YOU WALK IN THE GUTTER.

The room was not ready. The bed sheets had body hairs and the floor was dirty. The rooms were supposed to be soundproofed but the contact noises like people walking around and the moving of chairs on tiles upstairs was very audible. Bathroom was small and shower door was difficult to move open and shut. People at the desk were polite but not friendly. The view on the inner courtyard was disappointing. The full price was almost 200 Euro per night, definitely a tourist trap!

Room very peaceful, however we would have appreciated if the chambermaids have worn slippers!

A really very good place to stay: a nice, characteristic and well restaurated old house, perfect rooms, very clean and quiet (double double-glass!), a king size bed ... Marvellous breakfast in the morning with everything you need and in particular warm croissants! The situation a little bit out of the historical center ( only 10 to 15 min of the Dome by foot ) is not a problem and is largely compensated by the quality of the establishment, its services and price! Special thanks to Allessandra(?) and the boss for the possibility of staying one more night. A place that gives you, if the hotel keeps the same excellent rating price/quality, the real opportunity and taste to come back to Firenze. Ciaoooooo.

Definitely a good choice: it's a very nicely decorated hotel; my room was spacious, clean and beautiful; they offer big buffet breakfast which is rare in Italy; the hotel is next to a park and is quiet tho it's not at a central location. The only one drawback is the staff were not friendly - almost bad by Italian standard. But, all in all, it definitely offers very good value for money!

Small hotel, not far from the center. The larger rooms are noisy, but the smallers are quiet. The price for the room is excellent, but the garage is expensive, altough the hotel is situated in a walking area. The breakfest is quit good, and the employees are OK. Nice furniture, but the walls need some renovation. If I go back to Florance, I would stay again in this hotel.

It is a clean hotel. A bit pricy for what it is but then again all hotels are like that in Florence.Good location, close to the center (4 minute walk to San Lorenzo cathedral)and breakfast is include which is not always to case in Florence. Recommended.

Very nice premises. There was a problem with the room we were initially assigned, as it had a very strong odor, which we discovered came from their cleaning solutions. They may want to change their products. However they moved us to another room which was lovely. Great value, nice premises, helpful staff, though we would have preferred a bit more central location.

A good location within walking distance from the train station and most of the major attractions. Rooms were clean and comfortable. A nice hotel that was good value for money, the only thing that let it down slightly was the poor welcome upon arrival.

We spent only night there after extending our stay in Florence, this hotel was a few blocks further from the Duomo than the previous hotel (both near the central station) but the room was much more spacious and noise level much lower. It was more than enough to compensate the extra walk. Great choice.

Whilst there was definitely an error made in our price for this accomodation I would probably have paid more for this hotel. The room was 1st class and the AC excellent (d'ont come to Florence without this!) Venere.com was good too!

Although not in the historic centro, the location was excellent, as Florence is small enough that everything is within 20 minutes walking distance. Service and room were excellent. I would definitely return!
