Hotel Losanna is fine. There are around 9 rooms and 2 bathrooms. We wanted a place that was central but also appropriate for budget travelers. The rooms are nice but the hotel owner sleeps in the same complex it is her home in a way so she is always around and watching TV in the common room and uses the bathroom as well which is weird when you are stepping in the shower and she is stepping out. She is very kind and sweet but I would not recommend this for couples or families, more for student travelers.

While we had some initial trouble contacting the hotel to see about beginning our stay a day early, we found the staff to be super friendly and very, very helpful. The location is in a residential neighborhood, and so very quiet. Still, it is within easy walking distance of the center. Right next door is a shop that will sell a variety of wines from casks right into 375 ml, 750 ml or 1.5liter bottles; a bakery is 5 minutes away and a supermarket a bit farther. A very pleasant surprise was the terrace, a great place to eat a picnic dinner. On three sides it is enclosed by neighboring buildings but the fourth side opens to a bit longer view. My only complaint was the other guests with whom we shared the bathrooms, who did not seem to understand that leaving the door closed told the rest of us that the bathroom was in use -- they left it closed after they were done which meant those waiting to use it had to wait un-necessarily. Clientele seemed to be those on a budget, mostly the younger crowd. I'll be staying here again.

Very nice place to stay. About a 25 min walk from train station. Losanna occupies the first floor in a large building. You are given a key for the outside door, then a key to get into hotel Losanna and then the key for your room. Wifi not available in the room, so we had to sit on the patio or in the hallway (table and chairs provided there). There was usually someone at the front greet people coming in. The room was clean, and the bathroom was fairly clean. There were two full bathrooms shared among the rooms (we never had to wait for the bathroom to come free). it was a tad noisy though. For some reason there always seemed to be sirens going. But with the window closed it blocked out most of the sound. No air condioning but they had a fan in the room which worked just fine. Downtown old Florence is only a short walk away. I would stay here again.

Overall, a decent place to stay. The ladies who run the hotel are very nice and accommodating. The main problem is that the rooms (or mine, anyway) can get suffocatingly hot because of the thick metal shutter, which is unfortunately necessary at night due to mosquitoes. It's a fifteen-minute walk to Sant Ambrogio, 20 to the centro storico.

Bad about the place is just the wifi, they don't have it the rooms, just in a place close to the front door.

The lady owner was pleasant & friendly. Although could not speak English well, but could understand and communicate with some hand signals. Knowing a few Italian words will be helpful. Location wise, pretty close (about 15 minutes walk) to the nearest place of interest. The train station was further, walkable but not with luggage. We had to take a taxi to the station. The lady was helpful to make reservation for one as we had to leave early the next morning. We had some mosquitoes in the room that came in from the bathroom window. So make sure you closed up everything. We had noisy neighbors upstairs (not the same hotel guests) in the early evenings but after 7/8pm was pretty quiet. In fact maybe too quiet, no food/convenience shops/stores opened after 7pm nearby, have to walk 15 minutes to the nearest store.

Although the English was stifled the hosts were very warm and aimed to go above and beyond the call of duty. The rooms were more or less immaculate and location was perfect for it's close proximity to the main sites while being in a local area to get cheaper prices and escape the tourist traps. Only complaint was the noise as the walls were quite thin so noise from other guests came to be an annoyance during the night.

Even though the lady boss was a very friendly lady, she could not speak english and I had difficulties finding the hotel initially. The room that was given to us came with a toilet. However, the bath area and the toilet area was not separated by a partition. Thus the whole toilet will be wet after a bath. The water flow to drain the water during bathing was very slow. The toilet will be flooded if you let the shower run for too long. Worse still, the room has mosquitoes. It was a very unpleasant stay for us.

its a kinda far form the centre of Firenze. The room is not that big, but it is enough for 2 ppl. there are 2 bathrooms. But 1 of them is a tub. You will not probably stand up to have showering(or it will be quite danger to stand on a tub)For the other bathroom, you cant use the tap. That mean, you can wash your hand after you use the tiolet... Actually there is no welcoming for this hostel and you have to put the key on the reception whenever you go out. Frankly speaking, the rating of this hostel is not high, but we choose it because of its cheap price. The price/quality is fair for this hostel. I would recommend this hostel to some low budget tourist.

Decent place for the price paid. The Hotel Manager is nice, but speaks very little English, so make sure you know some key phrases in Italian. She is also very worried about electricity costs so the halls are all kept very dark. It's a little eery to roam the halls. There are plenty of bathrooms, so not having our own bath was not an issue at all. Only once was I in the bathroom and someone knocked and I never had to wait for anyone. The bathrooms are kept pretty clean. The room was nice, a much needed fan was included, but the bed was very firm. We did not sleep very well on the beds. The location is great, it's about a 20 minute walk to anything you want to see...Uffizi, Michelangelo's plaza, and Santa Maria Train station. It's about a 5 minute walk to the accademia. The people that stayed at the Hotel were for the most part quiet. We didn't hear a lot of noise at night. We were a little concerned with security because when you leave the hotel they request you just hang your key to your room on a wall along with everyone elses, but we didn't have any issues. Overall, for the price it's a decent place.

This place is also called Penzione Losanna and Albergo Losanna. A very quiet, clean, and tidy place. The 10 rooms seemed almost deserted while we were there, in late February. The older woman who runs the Penzione speaks only in Italian, but we understood eachother on the basics and she was a good hostess. The bread and coffee she serves for breakfast is included in the price. The water in the shower takes a few minutes to heat up but does get hot, though the sink in the room ran only cold water. Worst place I stayed during my stay in Italy. I stayed at 4star hotels for the same price as this "pensione". I travelled with a baby and an elderly in middle of october, when I asked the owner (Losana) to turn on the heat for both of them she simply said "NO" and that's that. Breakfast consisted of two toasted crackers and jam with coffee. The rooms were so cold and dark, it made you feel as if you were sleeping in the streets. Losanna is a little away from the city centre, but we quite enjoyed the walk and it helped us to see parts of Florence we might not otherwise have seen. The hotel itself is not exactly pretty, but at 38 euros for a double per night with breakfast included it worked out cheaper than staying at the hostel and we had privacy and a decent sized room. The service was friendly. The lady who runs the place seems to do everything herself and although she speaks almost no English and our Italian is terrible we found it easy enough to communicate. A small hotel slightly off the city hyper-center, but all the sites are easily reached (15 minutes walk to get to the Duomo, buses nearby). Nice welcome from the old lady who runs the property. Comfort is simple, and the furniture & decoration look quite old-fashioned, but the hotel is very clean, and all the basics things a budget traveller needs are there (good bed, especially). No air con, but a big electric fan provided (and a quiet room on the back side, allowing to sleep with the window open). We had a room with shared bathroom. As there were 2 common bathrooms, things went smoothly, no wait to access one of the bathroom (maybe also because we got up a bit late ? :o) Only "weak" point : breakfast, which could be improved a bit (especially the deep-frozen bred). But once again, that's a simple and rather cheap hotel (we paid 45€ per night with breakfast included, for a stay in summer season at the end of july), so the value for money was very good in our opinion.

The lady indeed does not speak much English but you manage somehow. Breakfast is simple and limited but we were OK with it. Shared bathroom was also clean although there was fungus on the shower curtain - There are 2 shared bathrooms and the one with tub is nicer and fungus-less. Neighborhood is super quiet but you can hear people from upstairs and next door quite well. The lady prefers that you pay cash, which we were ready for. It's about 15 minute walk to the center, so not too far but we'd have liked to stay a bit more central. But for 55 euros, it was a very good value for money over all.

Its a small hotel run buy a lady. She has a welcoming approach. Its easily accesible by bus from the Florence station. The room is quite and nice. However I thought the price of 55 Euro for 2 adults with sharing bathroom is on the higher side.

Great location and price. Very welcoming Italian landlady, but unfortunately she only speaks Italian. Nice but small room, comfortable bed, clean bathrooms, very quiet at night. Nice neighbourhood. The building is old and a bit worn, but I will definitely stay here when I return next spring!

A very nice welcoming in a home-run establishment but the staff did not exist apart from the owner herself (and who did not speak any English). Breakfast was poor and the bathrooms in need of urgent updating though she made a point of keeping them clean.

It is a well located, small hotel for people that want to see Florence and not staying frequently in the hotel. The price/quality relation is good. The shower in the room very primitif (no curtain or anything like that, e.g. emptying of the bathroom before showering necessary). The ealderly lady who is running this little hotel is charming and extremely helpful. Very friendly atmosphere!

The cheapest b&B in Florence we found, close to the main attractions, quiet and clean but very very besic standard. It`s seems like no renovation since 50ties. We had a room without bathroom, the shared bathroom very basic standard too. We would reccomend it but for those who don`t want to spend a lot of money and time in the room:)

Very welcomming hotel to stay in Firenze. If you do not need more than a clean room with bed than Losanna is really the right place. The landlady is a charming person who is ready to help you - she has even lent me her own umbrella as I have forgotten mine at home. The location is near the center (10 min walks), I recommend also an excellent restaurant I Ghibellini, Piazza Di S. Pier Maggiore, 8, very close to the hotel !

This was my first time staying at Hotel Losanna and I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Florence. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from Duomo and the center of Florence, although walking to the train station is fairly far, but there is a bus stop just a few blocks away. The owner of the hotel is very nice and helpful, but she hardly speaks English, so just be prepared. Rooms are nice and clean, and there is a good breakfast that is included with the hotel.

We woke up covered in bug bites. Also, there was no fan. When we asked for one, she said she might get us one the next day, but that we couldn't let any of the other guests see it! The worst part was the bug bites, though. We were miserable after our first night and didn't stay any longer. Also, it was VERY loud early in the morning.

I was traveling with my mother, she was at the beginning shocked, that we didn't have a bath in our room, but then it was not important anymore. The bath was in front of our room and was always clean. The owner is such a nice lady. The room was always clean, the breakfast was also very good and it was very easy to walk to the city.

A nice big space near the heart of things in Florence. No more than a 10 minute walk to get to the real center of the city. I didn't try the breakfast as I prefer seeking out a pastry shop for a brioche + cappuccino. The price was great, the rooms were clean, the service was friendly; what more can you need!

For the category of the Hotel, we got want we wanted. The lady didn't speak english or spanish, but she made herself understood and was wery helpul. Even she prepared special breakfast "to take" for us. Bathrooms were outside (we knew) but room was spacious and very clean. Location is close to a bus station and you can walk your way to the hotel. Highly reccomend it if you are not a luxury-hotel fan.

The owner is a very nice lady (who doesn't speak english very well, but tries hard) and our stay was very nice overall. The room walls aren't so thick, as we could hear the son of one of the guests crying at night, but that was pretty much the only downside. The room is quite big and the common bathrooms are very clean. Nothing to tell about the surroundings, because the hotel is in a normal residential area. All in all, pretty great, considering the low price!

The quality and maintenance of the hotel is really poor. we were given a room with private shower as booked, but the window next to the shower has no curtain.and the curtains in the room doesn't cover the whole window. the whole night we heard water flushing from the upper floor(or next door?)the bed was squeeking likea pig.we booked for 2 nights and when we returned the second day there was a spider on the bed!we moved to another hotel for that night but still had to pay the full cost. we didn't complainted to the lady in charge because language was a problem(she doesn't speak English at all). i would like to launch a complaint and request a refund.

For the really good price we got a good room and a centrally located place to stay. The owner also helped us with the "clearance" of our traffic sins with the police, since we were driving through the inner circle of the city to get to the hotel - which is not allowed in Florence. If you have a car you can encounter problems, there is no parking possibility in front of the pension, you'll have to find parking a few streets further (12 €/day) or go to an public parking place which is 18€/day.

The hotel is an excellent budget-accomodation with its cleaniness and quiteness. After spending long hours walking in florence, me and my 3 other friends were dying to get back to our rooms and get some rest. Showering facilities were also pretty good and very clean, like the sheets and the towels that the kind lady provided us. Don't expect too much from the breakfast, but still the coffee was good. As far as the location is concerned, it is 10 mins of walk to Duomo, which is a hot spot to see and it is also not far from the central station, though it is also walkable from Campo Marte train station as well. Overall, I wouldnt look for any other alternatives if I go to Florence again.

Room was large and comfortable, the hostess and her son were thoughtful and accomodating. No air conditioning, so we opened the windows and were eaten by hungry mosquitoes (this was remedied after we bought bug repellant). Would recommend Losanna to anyone wanting a comfortable base close to the centre of town (10-15 minutes walk).

Horrific directions led to a 30 minute walk with heavy bags and constantly asking people for proper directions. Actual bus stop is a 2 minute walk from hotel - instructions are completely wrong. No fan or AC in room, was sweltering during day. Breakfast was nothing special, but not an extra charge either. Was perfectly alright, although I feel I paid too much for what I received. Walking distance to major attractions. Friendly people running it. Night time entry key seems to give problems - you could end up locked out all night if the guests that came in before you did not shut the door in the proper way - so be careful. I would look for another option if returning, but if nothing better found in the price range I wouldn't mind returning.

At first glance, a bit unsettling. Don't let the bell at door concern you, it's actually a safety feature. Victorianna spoke no English, but was SO nice, personnable and accommadating! Clean room, adequette breakfast. Very safe, even if we did have to leave the key at the desk. We left our bags in the hall to do some last minute touring after check out and they were just as we left them when got back. Victorianna is wonderful! The only thing not good was she doesn't take credit cards so we paid in Euros, just be preparred.

The woman running the place was very welcoming and accomodating. She gave us a map and explain where all the major sites where in relation to the hotel. She also marked the nearest laundromat-we needed it. The room was fair for the price we paid.

This was a great little B&B. Very clean, great staff, really a comfortable place to stay and really nice people running the place. Rooms were very clean. It is within walking distance to central Florence (Duomo area) so location is convenient. The only thing might be that you have to walk a little to get to any cafes; there is nothing directly near the hotel; other than that we thought it was a great little place for that price category.
