A great location for a balance between access to tourist locations and reasonably-priced food and shopping; thanks to the close-by university (keeps prices down :-) The hotel is gorgeous, with beautiful furnishings and decorations. The staff goes above and beyond to be helpful.

Stayed here many times before. It remains the best value hotel in Florence in terms of location - 3 minutes walk from the Duomo, but situated in a very quiet piazza - the quality of the rooms, the quiet and refined ambience, and the very pleasant, professional, unobtrusive service. The single rooms can be on the small size but the doubles are spacious and nicely furnished and finished. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Florence.

For the reduced price in August the price/ quality relationship was great. (I am not sure I would like to pay the regular price even though this is a great little hotel and one of the best 3-star hotels I have ever stayed at.) The single room was rather spacious (for Italy) and nicely furnished. I even had a view of the cupola del duomo out of my window! The historical building itself is of course fantastic as is Piazza SS. Annuziata where it is located at. The breakfast room was nice and quiet, and the breakfast sufficent (good cappuccino).

beautiful hotel, great location. Only problem I had was they tried to charge us more than the agreed amount we booked for. We had to provide printouts of our booking confirmation. Once we did, they reduced the charges. This isn't the only hotel that this happened at during our multi-city vacation.

The only downside of hotel is the location...althougth it is only 2-3 blocks from the Duomo the piazza is a homeless draw as there appears to be a soup kitchen near the hotel. Some drug selling also appears to be taking place...although we felt generally safe it may be a "turn-off" for some especially for women travelling alone. The hotel staff was excellent-Daniel,Pietro and the front desk- and we had a great time...

We like this hotel for its decor, service, cleanliness, comfort of rooms and overall good value. The square in which it is set seems to have deteriorated a little in terms of cleanliness and overall appearance, but this is probably par for the course in any European city these days but we will be back nevertheless. One of the famous inner gardens of Tuscany can be seen for some of its windows, and Sabatini's restaurant is the place to eat.

There were quite a few homeless people around all the time and at night it was very noisy with one man screaming most of the night. He actually screamed most of the day as well.

I have stayed at this hotel in August 2008 for 2 nights. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, with vaulted ceilings throughout. Far better than I expected. Very well decorated in elegant vintage style. The furnitures are real antique solid wood and not made by plywood. My room was a good size with very high ceiling. It looked over the back garden and not the square, but the view was pleasant. The bed was a proper sleigh bed. Beautiful soft furnishings that gives you very luxurious feel. Even the mini fridge was incased in beautifully painted box! The walls throughout the hotel were painted in warm orangy colour, just like those frescos. Airconditioning was an old model placed under the window, and it was quite noisy. The lightbulb of the bedside lamp was broken. I asked the desk to change it but they never did. The staff are ok,but not so friendly and bit business like. Perfect location. Only 5minute walk to Duomo and just around the corner from Galleria Dell'Academia, yet very quiet. Value for money. I cannot wait to stay at this hotel again!

The Loggiato is a great hotel, situated just a few minutes walk behind the Duomo in Florence in a great square of it's own. I throughly enjoyed my stay (I was there for business and pleasure) and can certainly recommend the hotel, it is in a great location. It is pricey compared to other properties but worth it. The drawbacks, the one lift (which is small) and the bathroom, which is small but these are more than offet by other features and the size of the bedroom area. Great place

The history of this facility is fascinating and the building (once inside) is lovely. The surrounding piazza isempty of people and the smell is off-putting. (Corners of the piazza are obviously used as public urinals.) The hotel is not within walking distance of the train station, especially if carrying large bags. But it is within walking distance of the Duomo, the galleries, the Ponte Vecchio and good restaurants and shopping. The rooms are clean and comfortable if a bit small, breakfast is great and the staff are friendly and helpful.

The location of the hotel relative to the centre of the city was perfect. You cannot do better than a hotel that backs on to the Accademia! There was no lift to the third floor where our room was located but that was not a problem for us. The breakfast was good although like so many hotels in Italy, the coffee was not as good as can be obtained elsewhere in any small back street bar. We have never been able to understand why that is! We would certainly use this hotel again.

Great location. Room was small and bathroom was REALLY small with no rim on floor around shower. Pictures online made room look more elegant that actual room was. Cost of room was about $250/night, and I didn't think the value was great. Breakfast was very good, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Lots of character in a very convenient but quiet location. Thoroughly recommended and would stay there again if we go back to Florence.

Very beautifully decorated hotel in one of historical squares of Florance. Walking distance to the central station (about 15 min.)The room we stayed in was the most spacious room in a building about 30 meters away from the hotel where we felt more like staying in an apartment with full privacy. There were also a wash and dry and a supermarket nearby and it's about a 50 meter distance to the Duomo. We had a very nice stay in there and we recommend this hotel to everyone. The only low points are that our room had no carpets or curtains maybe they were removed for being washed.

Ecellent location; good room; upon arrival reception was disappointing after flying 12 hours to get there--abrupt & almost rude. Breakfast was good, coffee lukewarm (the American version), but wait staff were very good. Had to ask for basics after returning from a day out--cleaning staff varied from day to day--some were excellent, others not so great (same went for reception staff). Overall, very pleasant location and very central to seeing all of Firenze on foot in a very comfortable room. Enjoyed my stay.

This is a gorgeous hotel with several public spaces, air conditioning, and conveniently located by the cathedral and near a bus line. Our room was huge with 2 bathrooms. It must have been for a family, I didn't ask for anything special. All in all a great hotel with specials in the month of July.

I lived in Florence for a summer prior to this trip. One thing I learned is that your hotel and location make a huge difference. This place was absolutely amazing. The transition from walking the streets to walking into my hotel room was transparent; both were 100% Firenze. I felt as if I were living in the Renaissance. I was surprised at the low cost for such a beautiful room. Great location. Near Santa Annunziata church, view of the famous Brunelleschi dome from my room window, 5 minutes walk to the Accademia museum (where Michelangelo's David is), 7 minute walk to museum of Leonardo Da Vinci's inventions, and 1 block from Piazza San Marco.

Great hotel, excellent location close to all. (be it that the Piazza has some local "guests" who are at times somewhat loud, but really no bother!) Room was on first floor (one flight up) overlooking Piazza. Balcony, Cathedral Ceilings, no kidding! Breakfast was good, service good, personnel very helpful.

We spent part of our honeymoon at the Loggiato and the hotel and our room far exceeded our expectations. We loved it!!! The location was perfect, on the oldest, most prestigious Renaissance square in Florence around the corner from the Accademia. Our room (#19) had a very high ceiling with wooden beams had an incredible view of the Duomo AND the Accademia's gardens and was filled with antiques, including a canopied bed. The breakfast was delicious and the staff very kind, helpful, hospitable, etc. They even provided us with umbrellas on a rainy day and took care of all reservations for us. I would definitely return and highly recommend this hotel (we learned about it through Rick Steve's book on Italy, and his description was really accurate).
