Hotel modesto, ma pulito e ben curato! La signora Lea è una arzillissima anziana signora che, se volete, vi intratterrà con la sua tipica parlata toscana. Vicino all'hotel, al Bar Caffè Decò Toni offre un filetto squisito a un prezzo più che onesto (Piazza della Libertà 45). P.S. Una delle impiegate dell'hotel una sera si è sbagliata e ci ha chiuso fuori, ma con una telefonata è andato tutto a posto.

We were greeted by a housekeeper in a pinny at reception, who showed us to our room. Later, when we went to reception to give our key to go and get some food, the owner, Madame Lea, refused to believe that we had been told by Venere that the room was 45 euros for a double room, screaming "not, possible, 75 euros!! not 45 euros, 75 euros!!" She was then shown a text on my phone as proof of the price but didn't like it, growling "I finish with Venere, no more, no more!!" Another couple then stood beside us, waiting to pay and were told, "only cash, no credit card". The couple had said that on the web site, it had stated that credit cards were accepted. There ensued an argument, with the couple only speaking English and Madame only Italian, We made a hasty exit so I do not know how the matter was resolved. Suffice to say it unnerved us and we crept back in later, took the key, sneaked to our room, a feat in itself, involving a trip in a shoe box lift which worked only when you kept your finger on the button! Incidentally, at first we couldn't get out of the building at all, spending about 15 minutes looking for a door that actually led somewhere!! Fawlty Towers of Florence.

How to reach Hotel Lea

By car
From the highway or the airport follow the signs to Viali di Circonvallazione and reach Piazza della Libertà Square recognizable by the big Porta S. Gallo and by the Triumphal Arch. Turn onto Viale G. Don Minzoni, take the third street on the right, Via Fra' Maruffi and reach Via Fra' Bartolomeo, where the hotel is located.

By train
From S. M. Novella central station take Via Nazionale and reach Piazza della Libertà, continue along Viale Giacomo Matteotti and take the first street on the left, Via Fra' Bartolomeo, where the hotel is located.
From Campo di Marte station take Via Mannelli and reach Via L. Giordano. When you see the Cure overpass, turn left onto Via Fra' Bartolomeo, where the hotel is located.
