The room was clean, silent and with a view on the Russian church. Staff kind and discreet. The location, just a step away from a heavily trafficked crossroad, is incredibly quiet and relaxing. We had a perfect stay, although it was just for one night. Highly reccommended. Cannot rate breakfast cause we slept in and missed it!

Hôtel très agréable. Excellent rapport qualité/prix. Nous avons été très bien reçu, le service est impécable. le seul désavantage est qu'il se situe un peu loin du centre historique (environ 20 minutes de marche)

A little wary of horror stories regarding cleanliness of bathroom facilities in Italy, I was pleasantly surprised by the higenic standards of the room. HOWEVER, there was a problem with hot water one morning of two I was there, and not only did the staff neglect to tell anyone, but it was useless ringing the front desk because no-one was there to answer. This resulted in a strong delay and my missing a tour I had reserved, which made me extremely unhappy. On the off-chance I called the operator and she informed me of the situation - otherwise I would have been left hanging. However, the staff were very helpful in arranging activities for me, which was much appreciated.

Nice, clean hotel. Great value. If the air conditioning doesn't work, then you'll be eaten alive by mosquitoes. Our air conditioner had some issues and they had to give us a plug-in device. Also, they charge for internet use even though an employee told me it was free of charge when I inquired. Having internet access in your hotel room is a nice bonus though!

Marvellous coffee and lots of it for breakfast. Courteous and helpful staff. Very much enjoyed the stay and would return. No distance from important things to see in Florence. I don't understand those people who implied it was some distance from the centre of things. A flat walk all the way to the Duomo and beyond.

Excellent hotel. Unfortunately there was a problem with water on our floor and they put us up in another hotel for the first night. Alternative hotel also comfortable. Would stay at La Fortezza if in Florence again.

Rooms very so lovely and clean with good air conditioning. Great to come back to after the heat of the city. Wonderful afternoon tea delivered to the room at small cost. Reception staff so helpful with maps etc. A bit of a walk from the city but worth it.

The location is convenient and room clean, comfortable, with a modern, interesting design. We found it a pleasant 10-15 mins walk to the main tourist sites and station. The room was at the back of the hotel and lovely and quiet, even with windows open. Breakfast, reception and domestic staff were all friendly and helpful. Fresh coffee is made for you at breakfast and the buffet kept well stocked. I would happily stay there again, it was excellent value for money for such a popular town. Mosquitos were unfortunately abundant in October, and you needed the windows open to cool down the room at night - so remember Mosquito repellant. Next time i would insist that the air conditioning would be available (including during the night) before booking.

It is a nice hotel but it is far from the center and requires about 20-25 minutes walking. It's ok in the morning but in the evening after all that sightseeing it's no fun at all. Also it means that you will not come to the hotel for/after lunch for a few minutes break since it means loosing additional 45 minutes on walking. All in all, it's a nice place, rooms are quiet and spacious, breafkast - ok, but I will not stay there again.

Aside from some problems with mosquitoes--we were on the ground floor and there were no screens--the hotel was fine. It's just blocks from SMN train station on a busy street, but in spite of that we found it quiet..our rooms were in the rear. It's a several blocks walk either way to the Duomo in one direction and the Stibbert Museum in the other, but doable. The Italian modern design is an interesting contrast to the usual. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The hotel La Fortezza is a clean, airy hotel with very friendly and competent staff. there was a problem with our room when we first arrived, so they had booked us into a nearby hotel of a greater star rating and equal price for the night while our room was sorted out. the rooms are simple and modern, well air conditioned and clean. the only gripe was that when you used the shower it resulted in water absolutely everywhere and we had to use our towels to try and mop the floor! other than that, it was lovely; breakfast was adequate for the price, and although situated on the very edge of florence, it was a pleasant walk into the centre. i would highly recommend la fortezza to anyone on a bit of a budget- it is far enough away from the centre to escape the noise and prices, but if you are prepared to walk a bit, then it's excellent for the money.

La Fortezza was way better than I expected. It has been renovated beautifully. The hotel staff were excellent, spoke English, and were very helpful with tips on restaurants and how to get around Florence. The daily "Continental Breakfast" was incredible. Huge selections, very nice new dining area, and the young girl working in the dining area was so nice, sweet and attentive. I highly recommend this hotel. Excellent value for the money.

Great hotel. Very Very impressive room, I'd like to stay a little more if I could. Everything is new and clean, all made from a modern design. The breakfast was very nice. Not so close to the main station, but you can go walking (about 15 mim to 20 min).

The hotel was exactly as described on the website. Our hotel room was comfortable and the bathrooms were clean and spacious. The hotel staff wasn't as friendly as I would have liked but they didn't dampen my stay. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay in Florence. Location is near the train station but just a short walk to the center of town.

Really lovely hotel - staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. It is slightly that bit too far out to walk in to the centre of Florence all the time but it is very handy for the station. Having said that, our stay was excellent and I would thoroughly recommend it.

The disapointment was the lack of general amenities. Considering this was a 3* hotel there was no real public space/bar/restaurant for relaxtion. When you return to the hotel it was basically straight back to the room to sit on the bed there being no seating in the room. Additionally the bathroom was constructed dangerously - the shower at the sloping end of the bath with no anti-slip floor making it dangerous. The bath too small, probably only 4'6" with the taps at one end the outlet at the other - very poor design. Whilst the hotel had obviously invested heavily and in a nouvelle style it just lacked something. The breakfast room had plastic designer tables barely 24" square with 4 seats, just about room for 1. The breakfast/reception and cleaning staff were excellent.
