I was scared about this hotel because the website made it look far more gorgeous than the price would indicate but actually the pictures didn't lie. The rooms were simple, spacious and elegant, the bathroom was spotless and the bed pretty comfy. We didn't get a room with a view, but we didn't pay for one so that was fair enough. Without a view you could be almost anywhere in Italy if you look out of the window, and when you walk out onto Via Nazionale it's much the same; it's not the most picturesque location - but it is exceptionally convenient for all the main tourist locations and for the train station (very easy walking distance even with a heavy case). I think for the price bracket you would struggle to do much better. The reception is covered 24 hours a day, and the staff were uniformally friendly and helpful (as a plus, they all seemed to speak excellent English). They offered to store luggage on our last day after check-out without us having to ask. The breakfast room was a little cramped when full but we were up early most days and had it almost to ourselves. There was the usual range of Italian hotel breakfast foods - rolls, cheese, ham, croissants, jams, yoghurts etc as well as a couple of types of cereal and even some form of cake/torte which I admit I didn't try (going to Florence on a diet is a hard thing!). The coffee machine was pretty decent too! My boyfriend and I both said we won't even bother looking for a different hotel when we return to Florence, we'll just stay here again very happily - unless of course we win the lottery in the meantime!

Great location to all the major sites but not in the noisy part of town. Room and facilities are fine but reception is on the 3rd floor so need to take key up there and collect from there each time you go out. Safe did not work and was not fixed while we stayed.

The hotel is just 5min walk away from the center of Florence! If you have a car, parking can be a problem! but other than that, the location is fantastic! The rooms are big and super clean! Bathroom is small, but clean as well. The staff at the hotel is extremely helpful, the lady at the reception in the morning was very nice! she took her time to give us a map of the city and explain us every possible route that we could take to visit the main attractions in Florence! Breakfast at the hotel was included in the price and it was DELICIOUS! We will def love to come back! Excellent value for your money!

My family and I stayd in this Hotel for 2 nights and the only 2 good things for this hotel is maybe that is 4 blocks away from the plaza and that it included the breakfast in our price. Our room was very outdated; showers, and room where very old to the point that I was not able to take a shower confortably because the inclosure was made for a 5 foot person and I'm just 6 foot so I could turn inside the inclosure; the air conditioning units are very old and on our first night it stop working on a night that was close to 90 degrees; we where change to another room, but the AC did not work any better. The elevator to take the Baggage upstairs is the smallest I have ever bing into, it fits 3 persons nose to nose if your lucky.

Heating on our first night was a bit problematic but overall we enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was well over our expectations for the rate we received.

Excellent welcome by staff (Monika) who arrange for us Uffizi tickets and really pay attention to all our requests. Very nice hotel. Nice pizzeria-garden nearby (100m to the right).

It would have been nice to have some ham and cheese for breakfast, added to the light italian breakfast but it was ok.

We first stayed in another hotel in Florence which was around the same price, was much nicer and in a better location. This hotel is close to the train station so not in a great location, was noisy on the street and the actual building was a bit run down. Also the rooms were not very nice and we had trouble finding a good place to eat that was close by after a long day on the train. Overall, not a great value for money. I would not stay here again.

This was our first visit to Florence. The hotel is convenient for both the station and the main attractions (both easy walking distance). Hotel doesn't look great from outside but once inside take the lift up to reception where rooms and breakfast room are situated and things improve. Our room had a nice balcony overlooking the rooftops to the Duomo in the distance.

The location of the hotel was perfect for exploring Florence on foot. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Satellite TV would have been a plus. Would definitely stay there again.

Excellent location. Friendly helpful staff. Managed to get the room changed on arrival to a twin instead of a double. Room was a bit small but was ok for the length of time we were in it.

We did stay 4 nights in Florence and I like this hotel. It has lift (small) and is very close to Santa Maria Novela Station. The breakfast was very good! And we visit all places by foot... it is well located.

Considering the high cost, what you are really paying for is the location. It is in walking distance to the Galleria de l'Accademia (Michelangelo's David) and to the Duomo as well as to the restaurant populated areas and the train station. The room was tackily decorated with dim lighting but otherwise decent. The shower stall does not have walls, so half the bathroom floor gets wet. Reception is on the 3rd floor while rooms are on the 2nd floor, so it was annoying to have to go up to drop off your key before heading out. Breakfast is ok; we never ate there. Internet is expensive; best to go to 1 of the 5 internet cafes around the corner. The manager/owner was very difficult about us leaving a day early stating that we could only cancel through Venere, which is not true. We managed to "escape" by paying at night with the evening staff and dropping off the key early in the morning. In general, staff were helpful; the hotel provides a guide to the city.

Nice Room with quite small bed, small but nicely furnished bath room, clean, friendly staff, location near to the center, that often means "very loud" and it is.

Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the city and very helpful. The only thing was that I asked to pay for my room in cash when I arrived, but my credit card was charged although I was told that it wouldnt be. Otherwise it was a pleasant stay.

I know now that the bookings at Kursaal were very low for the time of my stay, and that other hotels of equal or superior quality were available for as little as half the price. I feel a bit duped, then, into paying much more than I could have or probably should have.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Room was adequate with a nice little view over some nearby rooftops. The included breakfast was what you would expect for this price but was more than enough to start the day.

This was the only disappointment of our two week trip. The air conditioning worked well, and that is the only good thing about this hotel. The staff could tell us nothing about simple things like finding an open grocery store. They would not help us get tickets to the museums as advertised. The room was tiny.

The bathroom was very small in the one bedroom...no enclosed shower! The lampshade was broken in the bedroom - this should have been replaced before new guests arrived.
