Location was very good. Easy walk to Domo, train station and river. Management extremely helpful. They went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Spoke fluent English. Included breakfast better than average.

I recommend the Il Perseo. The managers were outstanding! All our questions were answered and they assisted us with museum reservations. The staff were also welcoming, friendly and professional. The breakfasts were delicious (I loved the coffee,) happy hour was a bonus (wine was tasty) and we really appreciated the ability to use a complimentary laptop. The rooms were spotless and the bathroom was well-appointed. Treat yourself when you are in Florence and stay at the Il Perseo.

The room was perfect and the price was very reasonable for the location ( about 90 euros a night) this was in November. I go to Florence every year, sometime twice a year. I was there in November and before that in August but did not stay there in August because the rates were too high(around 160 euros a night) but other than that I would recommend the place anytime and will always be my 1st choice in Florence.

This was a great room in a great location! We didn't take a single taxi and easily found our way to all of the Florence sites. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and there was free wine and snacks each evening. The only problem was that the elevator was very small and could only hold two people (or one person and two bags). But I would strongly recommend this hotel!

The hotel is located at the 3rd floor of a building, which was a bad surprise for us (no lobby at the ground floor) Public areas are very narrow. Moreover, the rooms were not sufficiently heated (we were there in December). Some pros however: the rooms are spacious, quiet and well decorated.

Travelling with my partner, who is coeliac, the hotel were brilliant and recommended a pizzeria where he could get a gluten free pizza...fantastic. Also they have a GF breakfast. the room was lovely, clean and quiet. The shower room was newly refurbished. we will deffinately be staying again and recommending to our friends.

The location of this hotel is fantastic, it is only a 50 meters from the Duomo. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Internet access is good. The breakfast was very limited. The hotel occupies the third and fourth floor of a building where the lower floors are taken up by a hostel. That is somewhat off putting. All in all it was a pleasant stay but next time we might try one of the other similarly priced hotels.

This is an excellent choice in Florence. The owners of the hotel are present every day and are invested in making sure the guests have an excellent stay. The location is fantastic: walkable from the train station and in the middle of all the sites. Thanks to the entire staff at Il Perseo for a wonderful stay. See you next time.

The hotel and the rooms met my expectations based on the reviews and pictures I had seen. The room was clean, sizeable, bed was comfortable, water hot, the air con worked and the breakfast was reasonable. Nothing fancy but it's what you would expect for a 3 star hotel. For me though, the best thing about the hotel was its location - just a minutes walk to Duomo Sq and 5 minutes walk to the train station. My wife in particular loved the location as you're surrounded by shops as soon as you set foot outside of the hotel. One thing to watch out for when you first arrive at the hotel is the entrance - it's on a busy small road and it is difficult to get close to in a taxi / car. It's easier to stop in Duomo Sq but that means carting luggage for about 100 metres. If there's no traffic and you can lift your luggage over a 3 ft guard rail then you can stop outside the door and make a quick dash for it. Other than that I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Perseo.

I went to Italy with a friend. We went to 4 different regions of the country in 2 weeks. We booked all of our hotels through Venere and all were great choices! The Il Perseo was such a nice place to stay during our one and only night in Florence. It’s location was great. I couldn’t believe how close we were to the Duomo. It was perfect location to walk anywhere in the city! The ladies at the desk were extremely helpful. They recommended one of the best restaurants we ate at during our whole trip & even helped us with driving directions out of Florence. Great location, great price & convenient to everything!

Upon arrival, the desk clerk remembered that I had asked for a room with a view and was told that none were available. When we arrived, she said that there had been a cancellation for a view room and she had put us into that room. I was very impressed with that and we were given a large room with a view of the Duomo. It almost looked as if you could reach out and touch it. That was great. The room was large and clean as was the bath. The room was also quiet. The hotel is extremely well located to all sites. We were able to walk everywhere. Good restaurants were recommended to us as well. The only drawback for us was the small slow elevator which only goes to the 4th floor. As it turned out, our room was on the 5th floor. This would not be an issue if you travel lightly without much luggage. All considered, this was a minor thing compared to all the positives. Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again. The location cannot be beat! Oh yes, expect a traditional Italian breakfast resembling a US continental breakfast (no bacon and eggs). We had a wonderful time there and felt that the staff was professional and friendly.

Wonderful hotel is an excellent location. Highly recommended!
USA, Aug 2008
Great location right next to Piazza del Duomo. Staff was friendly and helpful, and room was fairly large by European standards, and had free Internet. The biggest drawback was that the hotel is on the third floor of the building, and the elevator was small and slow so it might take a few trips if you have lots of luggage. Also, and this was the case with other hotels I stayed in during this trip, in Europe, a double room indicates only a bed big enough for two, not that you want two separate beds, this must be stated separately if desired. So, my friend and I had to share for our time here as the hotel was out of other rooms. It was big enough not to be a problem, however.

Wonderful location just a few blocks from the train station one direction and the Duomo in the other. Very good English speaking staff. Afternoon happy hour was a plus since we had a chance to mingle with other guests. Room was quiet since it was on the side of the building. We overlooked a church and its bell tower but only heard the bells twice while we were there. Room was comfortable but not big. Good storage and updated bath. Shower was tiny. Continental breakfast was adequate. Can't beat the location.

Very impressed by this hotel. On a busy main road, but right in the heart of Florence, easily walkable or short taxi ride from the station. We had a triple room overlooking a courtyard at the back, so no traffic noise at all. Very close to the dome, so you will hear the bells. The bedroom and ensuite were immaculate, lots of towels and toiletries. Very helpful and friendly staff who spoke English, and when caught out in the middle of a storm, lent us umbrellas. Plenty of choice at breakfast, and happy hour with nibbles early evening. Hotel is on the third floor, access by lift or stairs. You might miss the entrance, so look out for hotel sign. We have been to Florence many times, but this is the hotel that I would return to and recommend to others.

We loved this hotel. It was a bit of a shock when we arrived because it doesn't look like much on the outside (hotel is on floors 3-5 of a residential looking building), but is a wonderful hotel overall. The rooms are modern, very clean and spacious. The staff is very nice and breakfast is good. The location is superb. We highly recommend this hotel.

The location is wonderful. Walking distance from the train station is not a "short walk" with luggage. Count on taxis to rip you off for the 4 minute ride! The owner is a wonderful lady from Australia. Staff could not do enough to please their guests. Breakfast was basic continental with no frills. Great value for money. The only negative thing was the beds - mattresses were lumpy and hard. Not what you look forward to after a day of walking.

I had a great stay at this hotel. The staff were welcoming, friendly and always willing to help. They had a good map of the city and were very helpful to me as a first time visitor in Florence. The hotel has an elevator which was great! The room was lovely - very clean, spacious and comfortable. I arrived by train and found the hotel easily from the map provided and it wasn't too far to walk with luggage. I would definitely stay there again.

I travelled alone, so all lodging seemed expensive. That said, this was the best price and I got a great room in a great location with really friendly staff. It would have been a steal if I went with a companion. It was safe, clean, and had A/C! There were families and couples staying there. Unfortunately I didn't make the happy hour (1 free glass of wine) so I didn't get to meet any of the people staying there. Overall thumbs up!

We stayed for 3 nights from the 18 march to the 21 March. It was a place I would be confident to return to. The ONLY reservation is that we could hear what sounded like running water all night. We were in room 303. This would probably be an issue to people who were light sleepers. We would probably ask for another room the next opportunity we have to be at Florence.

It was like staying with old friends that would do anything to make your stay comfortable. All of the staff are engish-speaking, friendly, well-informed, ready to please, and customer focused. The rooms were quiet, clean, roomy enough, easy to stay in, good heating and cooling you control, and well maintained. The staffs suggestions for restaurants and things to do were right on target. It is a comfortable hotel to stay in. They set up reservations for us but would not accept a tip for any of their help. The room had an electrical outlet for our phone for charging that did not require an adapter. It was a very quiet hotel that is located perfectly to get to all of the cultural sights easily. In the middle of it all but quiet - unbelievable. I will recommend this hotel to my friends. It is a very good deal.

My girlfriend and I stayed for 4 nights, and had a very enjoyable stay. The location is superb, just a 1 minute walk to the Duomo and less than 10 minutes to the train station. There are lots of decent restaurants around too. Our room was a nice double room at the back of the hotel, with a sofa/single bed in the room too. It was very spacious, with a modern decor. The air con unit was a bit on the noisy side, but this didn't really detract from the quality of the room. The breakfasts were probaly the best on our trip around Italy, with warm pastries, some good meats and very good capuccino's and hot chocolate. We also liked the idea of a free glass of wine in the evening, which was a very nice touch. All the staff we met, from the people who run the hotel to the cleaners, were very pleasant too. All in all, a great place to stay in Florence at a decent price.

Great Hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were very large - we were surprised! The room was extremely quiet, which was also a surprise being a block from the Duomo. Short walk to the places we liked to have dinner (over the river and to the right - away from the tourist mess - ask the folks at the front desk to point out a few places!). My husband and I were in Florence for the first time, and I was 6 months pregnant as well - we were very happy with our stay and would recommend this place to anyone. Il Perseo is a little tough to find - the front desk is on the 3rd floor - hop on the elevator and the button is marked. It is a quick walk from the train station - we even walked there in the pouring rain w/o umbrellas and it wasn't too bad :)

Wonderful! This hotel is embedded on the upper floors in an old building. A short walk from the station and next to the Duomo. We had a triple room (416)and although not spacious, the third bed was in an alcove givining our 15 year old a bit of privacy. Hot water, clean and modern and restful. I recommend it.

You never know what you're going to get when you book a hotel, but we were pleasantly surprised by Il Perseo. The accomodations were clean, modern, basic and exactly what we needed. The hotel's location couldn't be better, just a short block from the Duomo. The staff was very kind and welcoming. Breakfast was not extensive, but just what we needed in the morning. The free internet computer in the common area helped us in a pinch and the fact that the bar is always open means you can stop down for a bottle of water or glass of wine whenever. I would definitely stay at Il Perseo again.

This is very much a basic three star hotel. The room was clean and large enough for the triple we ordered. As listed in the other reviews the signage out front is non-existent and I had to call the hotel on my cell while standing withing 20 feet of the door. They people at the front desk were great and the location is about as central as you could get. This is a no luxury hotel; just basic and clean and central.

The main issue with ths hotel was finding it. Whilst only 50m from the cathedral and very central, its very small. It only takes up two floors of the building its in, the 3rd and 4th, with shops on the ground floor and another guest house inbetween the shops and the hotel. Don't let that put you off though. The hotel is very new, and very clean, and the room was really nice. The staff were friendly, and the location is perfect. Theres no resturant as such, just a small breakfast area, but you'll be eating out anyway. Its perfect for a couple of days in Florence, just remember to look up as you walk along the street looking for the place, as the exterior sign that says Il Perseo is half way up the building.

Our family holiday began with a 2 night stay here (2 adults, 2 children aged 8 and 13). We were delighted - very friendly and helpful English speaking staff, who booked reservations for the Accademia for us. Family room was spacious and comfortable, glad to have air-con (August). We were on the top floor (lift went up to the floor below us - slightly noisy at night). Gasps of amazement when we opened one of the windows to look out onto a views of the Duomo - beautiful in the different lights throughout the day...we were woken up by the bells the next morning! Not too early though... Breakfasts were very good, everything from cereal to croissants, cheese, ham, fruit, cappuccino, hot chocolate - this really set us up for the day. The hotel was perfectly situated for us to pop back to our room during the day for loo stops or a rest before the next bit of exploration. All in all great - this would be our choice if we visit Florence again, definitely.

I was there with my elderly mother and the elevator (lift) was not working and we had to haul our luggage up 5 flights of stairs. The reception had an attitude and we were put on a wild goose chase for tickets to the Academia Museum. When we returned after almost 2 hours of wasted time, we discovered they could have just placed a call to make a reservation which they knew all along. Another woman working there was more than happy to place the call but we should have been told that in the first place instead of wasting the little time we had in Florence! Another issue was driving to the hotel. The directions on the website are no longer accurate as there has been construction and a road is closed and according to the hotel, has been for over a month!

Finding the hotel the first time is difficult - it's just down from the Duomo (same side of the street) on the 3rd floor. It was well worth the find however. The staff was excellent - friendly, knowledgeable and eager to help. Despite being on a very busy street, the rooms were quiet and had air conditioning. It's the first time I actually took advantage of the happy hour, and it became a regular activity for us. I highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is in a great location in Florence. You can walk out and are steps from the Duomo. The hotel itself is located on the fourth floor which was a problem after a large storm knocked out the elevator for several days. This was an issue with luggage. Staff was very friendly and helpful and the rooms were very clean. They had a happy hour which we enjoyed because staff was very friendly and gave us the opportunity to interact with other guests prior to heading out for dinner. They offered a free glass of wine and snacks which was unique. The rooms can be noisy if you have loud neighbors (we had slamming doors) but this is not a fault of the hotel.

The staff at Il Perseo was excellent. They were very friendly and provided us with a lot of great information and a great map of the city. The hotel was extremely clean and my husband and I commented on how they would still sweep and dust areas of the hotel even though it didn't look like there was any dirt to clean. The location was perfect for walking all over Florence and we were right next to the Duomo. We even walked from the train station to the hotel when we first arrived instead of taking a taxi.

Perseo is a great hotel close to everything. We extended our stay in Florence and they were able to accomodate us with no problem. The rooms are very modern and super clean. Italian breakfast is quite good as well. We will return for sure.

I loved this place. The location was perfect for all sites, close to train station & market. the friendliest people ever. Giacinto the owner was very gracious, Laura at the front desk helped with directions and was always smiling, Anna in the breakfast room made wonderful cappucino in the am., the night gentlemen, I don't remember his name, sorry, was so helpful when we had question about the phone. The bed was big and very comfortable. the best sleep we had in 2 weeks in Italy, and plenty of hot water on demand for a good shower. The hotel is located on the 3rd and 4th floor , which you reach by lift. Small reception area, that is cheerfully decorated. Free internet acess. The rooms are completely refurbished, all modern, nice contempary furniture, plasma t.v. and absolutely spotless with modern bath.We had a double room that was a good size for italian standard. If you are looking for great value, great location, friendly ,helpful staff, and a good night's sleep look no further!

Recomendable.

This is the best bargain I have from my Italy trip! The location is perfect - hotel is right between the main train station and the Duomo. I have no problem pulling my 15kg lugguage along with a rugsack on my back walking from the station to the hotel. The room is spotlessly clean and tidy and NEW! (Exactly as per the photos shown on the web!)The only draw back about the room is that the bathrrom is small - small shower space! But IT IS the standard in Italy. Thou the shower space is tight, our bed is BIG in Italy standard and it is an actual double bed instead of two twin beds put together(which is very common in Italy). Finally the staffs are excellent. They help us booked the Accadamia to see David by Michael Angelo free of charge even before we arrived at the hotel (via email). Also they are very welcoming and have free internet usage!! It is a small hotel on the fourth floor without a grand entrance or a big buffet breakfast (It does have breakfast provided with free tea or cappacino but not a lot of selections) but definitely a warm friendly environment, convenient location and BEST VALUED!!

Laura helped us reserve tickets to the Ufizzi and recommended two excellent restaruants for dinner during our stay. We could not have asked for a warmer welcome or more attention. The room was wonderful and clean. The location was within walking distance of the train station and all of the major sites that one goes to Firenze to see. We enjoyed being awoken by church bells each morning.

We stayed at Hotel Perseo for three days in September and it was a most memorable experience. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the rooftops of Florence that my wife found very enchanting because she could smoke outside. The staff were all very kind and attentionate. The internet access was very usefull and the overall decoration and cleanliness of the rooms were excellent. Also the cappucino in the morning was one of the best !

At first glance, on entering this hotel, you will be disappointed. The entry leaves a lot to be desired and does not reflect the actual hotel experience. The staff was very friendly and courteous, and Laura was very helpful in planning our drive through Tuscany with suggestions of places we should see. Wonderful experience. The only thing I would comment on is the lack of a smoking area in the hotel. All rooms are non-smoking, and if you are a smoker, you have to go outside in the front of the hotel, which is located on a very busy street. Otherwise, the rooms were very clean and comfortable and the staff very helpful. We would probably stay there again, since it is located close to the train station and within walking distance of all major attractions. All in all, a very satisfactory experience.

Family room for 4. Double bed and bunk beds for the kids. Clean room with great shower, air conditioning and double glazing so it was quiet at night. Fantastic location very close to Duomo and all other main sights are within easy walk. Staff very friendly and helpful with some good tips for sightseeing and saving money. Good breakfast and all day internet access for residents. Too many fantastic restaurants to know where to start and as for the ice cream ... A bit more expensive than we originally wanted but we booked late so choice was limited but on arrival we thought it was well worth the extra and great value for such a great location. I would recommend it.

Il Perseo was close to everything. . . just a minutes walk from the Duomo. Our room was the largest out of our entire trip in Italy (including the 4 star we stayed in). The room was modern and air conditioning was great! They had laundry service for a very reasonable price that we just dropped off in reception and it was ready later that day (8 Euro for a load). Breakfast was similar to all other breakfasts we were provided in Italy. . . cereal, croissants, coffee, juice, etc. We would definitely stay again! Oh yeah! They lowered the rate for us on check-out (and it was already a great price!)!

This hotel has a superior location approx 45 meters from the Domo, 3 min walk from the main shopping street, 4 min from Academia and 7 min from Uffizi. Rooms are newly renovated and very fresh. Service is excellent and the staff were proactively helpful in making reservations to Uffizi and Academia for us before we arrived (book early - it is a must unless you love standing in line for 1-2 hours). We have already recommended this hotel to other friends. (If, however, you need a fancy glass and brass reception it will cost you an extra EUR 50 per night for the same standard and location)

We were surprised by this pension. I booked our room in March 2006 for our stay in June 2006. When we booked, the hotel looked fine on the venere.com website. Since then, the pension went through a complete remodel and overhaul. It is modern, and while I didn't particularly like the furniture in our room, it was all new and clean. We had a queen or king size bed and a twin. It included an armoir, two night stands, a chair, a desk with chair, air conditioning, a phone and a flat screen tv. The mattress is new and comfortable and the pillows are nice. Extra pillows and a blanket was found in the wardrobe. Also, there was a nice duvet. The bathroom was new and clean and nice. The shower was a bit small, but the pressure and hot water were nice. The view from the room looked onto the roof of the neighboring building. The breakfast wasn't much, but included cheese and meat tray, cereal and yogurts. You could however get coffee anyway you like. The elevator (very old) worked sometimes and sometimes it didn't. But, Otis Elevator repair was there when it didn't. The location of this property is one of the best we could find and we weren't disappointed. Steps from the Duomo and just a short walk to Uffizi and other museums, it is perfectly located in this beautiful city.

This hotel accommodated our family of four very nicely. The rooms were very clean and the breakfast provided was sufficient. We loved the location near the Duomo. My children could see the the Dome from their bunkbead. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We felt it was a very good value for the money.

A LOVELY STAY What a pleasant surprise! We arrived by train in Florence and once we received directions on the best exit from SMN rail station we were on our way. We had a huge suitcase and the two of us and our bag just fit in the elevator. We had a double without bath and I can say that our room was the nicest of all the hotels we stayed in Italy. Spacious, clean, interesting artwork on the walls and throughout the hotel. We slept late and didn't have breakfast but the room looked very nice. Great location! We walked to the Accademi, the Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio - just perfect. The batheoom is very convenient and very clean. A truly enjoyable stay and I would absolutely stay again. The hotel is closed for a complete renovation from 11/2 - 3/31/06

Price vs quality is fair... close to the railway station, it just takes couple minutes to railway station and some hot spots. Owing to my room facing back side, not noisy as the comment from other users. Up to my satisfaction.

We enjoyed the stay at Il Perseo! The owner was very kind and a nice person to talk to. And the location was also great!! At the heart of Florence. It is very nice to stay near to the Dome which I love most in this city. I could hear the bells in the morning and evening. I wish we could have had much more rich breakfast.

Il Perseo is a lovely hotel in a perfect location. We truly enjoyed our visit thanks to the excellent staff. The room and bathroom were both clean and spacious. The breakfast was bigger than most hotels--yogurt, cereal, bread and coffee. We highly recommend this hotel. Don't try to drive to the hotel though--walk from the train station...it's not far at all and it's about a block from the Duomo!

Travelling with sister and teenage daughter, I felt that this hotel greatest asset was its location. Minutes from train/museums/shopping, all within easy walking distance. We also felt very safe walking back to hotel at night. The hotel was very clean, great breakfast and staff accomodating. The common areas is perhaps a little more tired than photos suggest, but otherwise feel that it was great value for the location. We had room in courtyeard; I expect that street side would be much noisier.
