We just came back from a trip in Italy, and an opportunity to stay at the Globus Hotel. The Hotel is nearby the train station. It is within a 5 minute walk at 24 Antonini. Be advised that after you find the number 24 you will come a store. You to walk another 200 meters to get to the hotel (no big deal). There is no lift/elevator from the entrance to the check-desk, therefore you must carry your own bags/luggage. There is lift at the lobby that will take to your final destination in the event your room is in the second or third floor. The room is spacious, clean, and spotless. There is refrigerator with goods for a price that you can purchase or you can buy your own stuff/junk food at the local supermarket/store and put it in the refrigerator. There is safety box to keep your valuables. The best amenity (in my opinion) is free wi-fi with a laptop in the room free of charge. The rooms are cleaned everyday, with clean towels being replace and beds are made everyday. As far as download time once your in the room there are only two channels: CNN and another Spanish Channel coming out of Spain, so it gets pretty boring if you are used to enjoying TV. My suggestions would be to take your own movies or go to the web and download programing from the major networks. You can also downloand movies to be streamed through Itunes ( there is charge between 3.99 to 4.99 per movie). As far in the morning there is free breakfast which is nice to get started in the morning nothing fancy. This breakfast is like a continental breakfast, bagels, toast, ham, coffee, chocolate, cornflakes, crossaints and orange juice. The staff are very professional and helpful. They gave a lot of information on places to go eat and visit during our stay at Florence. They went out their way to make sure that we had a great time. It is not a 5 star resort, but for the price that I paid for this hotel I would not mind staying again in the hotel.

It is good hotel. The room is modern and goodlooking. Service is friendly and very kind. Sometime Airconditioner and electlonic safety box did not work. The elevator is very old type and dangerous, but using upstair is not bad. San Lorenzo is not good place for first time vacation in Florence.

The best is the Restaurant and the lovely gentlemen who served us. They served the best chocolate in Italy, better than Venice or Milano, even better than Paris. Top location and excellent service from Reception too

Thanks Mr Michele and everyone else for the wonderful stay and help with our luggages up and down the stairs, and also help with directions/ bus schedules to San Gimignano. Breakfast wasn't huge, but more than enough to start the day. Excellent freshly brewed Italian coffee, fresh juice, fruits and bread. Spacious rooms and toilet. Free unlimited internet access. Only problem is noise from disco somewhere - but no problem if you are a sound sleeper who doesn't wake up in the middle of the night.

This hotel is excellent value for money. Only a short walk to the train station, and very near to all the main tourist attractions. The room was spacious, comfortable, and clean, and we were surprised to find we had free use of a laptop in our room. The continental breakfast was perfectly adequate. There are loads of cheap, good quality restaurants nearby. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The only bad thing I can say is that we stayed a Friday night and there was some heavy bass music from a nightclub nearby until quite late.

WE STAYED AT 9 DIFFERENT HOTELS AND BB'S THROUGH OUT OUR 3 WEEKS TRIP TO SPAIN AND ITALY AND THIS IS THE BEST VALUE FOR THE MONEY. THE HOTEL IS 7 MINUTES WALK FROM THE MAIN TRAIN STATION AND VERY EASY TO FIND. THE STAFF WAS WONDERFUL. MOST HELPFUL OUT OF ALL THE PLACES WE STAYED. THEY WERE COURTEOUS, POLITE AND VERY HELPFUL. WE DIDN'T HAVE RESERVATION TO THE UFUZI AND ACADEMIA MUSEUM WHEN WE ARRIVED. WITHIN 20 MINUTES, THE RECEPTIONIST WAS ABLE TO SECURE RESERVATIONS FOR US FOR NEXT DAY VISIT. RESERVATIONS TURNED OUT TO BE EXTREMELY HELPFUL TO AVOID LONG LINES AT THE MUSEUMS. STAFF WAS ALSO VERY GOOD IN RESTAURANT RECOMMENDATIONS. WE TRIED ALL THE RESTAURANT THEY RECOMMENDED AND THEY WERE BETTER THAN THE ONE RECOMMENDED IN THE TRAVEL GUIDE BOOK. THE ROOM WAS CLEAN AND SPACIOUS. FLAT SCREEN TV WITH SKY SATTELITE AND IN-ROOM LAPTOP WITH FREE INTERNET IS A HUGE PLUS. BATHROOM WAS CLEAN AND DAILY CLEANING SERVICE WAS GOOD. DOUBLE PANE WINDOWS REALLY DID A GOOD JOB KEEPING THE NOISES OUT. BREAKFAST WAS GREAT WITH ENOUGH SELECTIONS TO GET YOU GOING IN THE MORNING. IT WAS CENTRALLY LOCATED, CLOSE TO THE DUOMO AND ACADEMIA. VERY GOOD VALUE FOR THE MONEY.

We were there in Aug 08. This was a great stay! We upgraded the room (there was a deal on Venere to pay up front) which made the difference. They gave us a computer in our room with internet access and free access to the mini-bar (no alcohol). These were some unique upgrades that we really liked. The room was spacious and beautiful. The hotel is located right near the train station, markets and good restuarants. We walked everywhere and had no problems. The hotel also helped us book passes for the Uffizi. You can do this directly but it was easier this way. The breakfast (espcially the coffee) was excellent. We would come back. Some advice for the hotel: provide a map of Florence and make some suggestions for restaurants. That would make the experience even better! Some advice for travellers: Download the Rick Steves audio tours for the Uffizi, Accademia and Florence walking tours. Older people may not like this hotel as there are stairs to get to the hotel and no one came to help us (this didn't bother me).

You couldn't ask for more for such a price. Excellant service. Staff was very curtious. Breakfast was surprisingly good. Great location - manged to walk easily from the central train station to the hotel. 10 minutes! And the location is perfect also in terms of vicinity to main attractions. Really I was so pleasantly so price to get such a good deal for such a low price.

We had a wonderful stay with our teenagers. Room 105 is the best! bathroom is very large and modern. Some rooms are small, but a superior deluxe is roomy. The staff was very friendly and accomodating, allowing us to stay an extra night with short notice. The location is supurb, we stepped out of the hotel to a cobblestone road and across the lane to have gelato everyday! Hotel is also very close to the outdoor market. Having a laptop with free web access was a bonus for us. The complimentary mini bar was great too. The hotel is centrally located and for the price, we were extrememly satisfied. We walked to all sites, and felt safe all hours of day and night. The staff also assisted with info for the train schedules, speaking with the airlines to help with lost luggage retreival, and had complimentary umbrellas for guests to use for the day it rained. The continental breakfast was just enough as we enjoyed eating at the neighborhood trattorias for lunch and dinner. I would recommend this property and stay again on future travels.

This is a clean, central hotel that is value-for-money. It is not more than 500 metres to the station and close to a great many number of monuments in Florence, Santa Maria del Fiore being the closest. The breakfast room is very small, though, and the breakfast is not that satisfactory. But this is like a standard in many of the same-category hotels in Florence. It may be recommendable to single and couple leisure travellers and maybe small families. We had a pleasant stay.

Hotel Globus in Firenze GOOD POINTS: - perfect localization, in the heart of Firenze, on the street with shops, restaurants. - rooms are very clean, equipped with fridge, air con and free wireless internet - staff was wery helpful and friendly BAD POINTS: - rooms are very small so it was hard to make a single move inside one - also very small breakfast area, very often you have to wait outside to seat down till other finish - poor choice of breakfast meals, no greenies (like frsh tomatoes, cucumber, salad), no hot meals - price 125 Euro per room per night!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL! The staff is super nice, the service excellent, everything is super clean, the hotel is nicely furnished and the WiFi works without a problem in the rooms. I had also ordered a reservation for the Uffizi beforehand which I was provided with by the hotel upon arrival (no queuing at the gallery). The only thing that could be bothering for e.g. elderly people or families with very small children is that the first floor to the reception doesn't have a lift. For the other floors there is a (though slow) lift.

While most hotels in Firenze are classic-styled, this one is nicely minimalist-modern but very cozy at the same time. A little gem, even if the spaces are tiny.

I'm not sure if it was written in the web pages on the property, but to get to the reception you have to go up a flight of stairs... which was difficult for us with a stroller! No elevator is available. The rooms were small and nothing special for the price charged. Our travel companions were staying in another 3-star, paying 40€ less than us and their room was much larger and more characteristic. We didn't even have a view outside our window, just a terrace with the boilers on it!

My girlfriend and I travelled from France to Italy and tried many different hotels. This was probably our best stay, because the hotel rooms are new, clean, quiet and comfortable. We rested very well and recharged for the next few days. The staff is friendly and willing to help. The hotel location is great, close to the station and to the touristic spots. I would definitely come back here. Recommended.

Confused street numbering cause some minor difficulty on arrival, however, distance from railway station quite short and no taxis or buses required. Small room, looking into rear service courtyard, but well appointed and good shower room, however, noise from vent system to restaurant at ground level, likely to disturb children or the early-to-bed. Breakfast: very wide range of options, although room small and some queuing required. Internet access a bonus. Good access to local cultural landmarks, good cheep restaurant adjacent entrance.

Very clean, small, location is 1st calss (close to central train, the market is in the same block, the DUOMO is 5min walking) The only "problem" is that you have to know in advanced that the hotel loby is in the 2nd floor and enterence is almost invisable (I've lerned it form VENERA site rem'). There is no lift from ground floor (problem with bags) but the guy noticed us by the CCTV and came to help us.Free use (1 station) in internet at the lobby (11:00-23:00).

If you stay in Florence, choose an hotel in the historic center and put your car in a parking during your stay. Globus Hotel is a nice choice, except that the elevator does not go to the first floor. So forget it if you have heavy luggage, else you will enjoy this hotel.

A pleasant hotel which certainly fulfilled the need of us (couple, mid-20s). We used it as a base to explore Florence and it suited our needs (Florence centre is fairly small so easy to walk around). Arrived by train and left by bus so the location was perfect - we could walk easily with our suitcases. We arrived early (about 11am) 3 hours before check-in - the staff were very helpful and let us leave our bags in reception; when we returned the bags had already been taken to our room. The breakfast buffet was good; a wide selection on offer and as much as you like (seems to be standard in my experience of Italy). One slight down-point is there isn't much space in the breakfast room, although this only affected us on one morning. If you want somewhere clean and friendly, this is a great place. Nothing unusual or quirky about it but if you want a good location, a bed and a nice breakfast, this is great!

Good location, small rooms but clean and modern. A small manual lift only begins from the 2nd floor, where the reception is. N.B driving around Florence city for 1st-timers is a real challenge because 1. the streetnames are difficult to see, 2. there are many one-way and pedestrianised streets that are not reflected on the maps.

A great location to roam around Florence, close to all major attractions; Duomo, Ufizzi museum, etc... Shopping is great just outside the hotel. Restaurants are many near by. I recommend "Il Porcospino", great staff, great food and great atmosphere, we went twice. Staff at this restaurant will NOT disappoint you, I assure you. Hotel rooms were huge. Only negative it thht you have to walk up a floor to get to front desk, but the staff helped us w luggage, without even asking. Breakfast is also great and included with price of room. Would go back to Globus Hotel in a heart beat.

Greate location: my window was looking right at the top of Capelle Medicee accross the courtyard. Not quite easy to find because of the confusing street numbers. If you go from the train station, skip the first number 24: it will appear again in the next block, right under the sign "Hotel Globus". No elevator to the second floor where the reception area is located. The stay was real pleasant. Excelent breakfasts are served by very polite and friendly Roberto. Seams, he had a training in a good restaurant. For dinners, there is a good chinese restaurant that has a wide selection of enterees: the closest match to american type menus (Via Chiara, 6, where it starts from Piazza Mercato Centrale). Definitely will stay there again!

Hotel Globus was above my expectations. The staff was just super. The only additional item we could have needed, to make our stay at Globus perfect, was an iron and an iron-board. He immedeatly advised his parents to stay there, when visiting Florence the next time.

Attractive modern style. Quite small lobby and other accommodations (the elevator, lobby, and of course the room) were VERY small -- which was fine, just be mentally prepared! Service was very good. The location was great -- near the train stations and other attractions. The "value" was excellent. A comment on Florence: Stay longer here than in Venice. Venice is becoming a tourist trap and the prices are not reasonable. Florence, on the other hand, had better food, friendlier, easier to get around and much cheaper than Venice. 1 day and 2 nights was enough in Venice. 1 day and one night in Florence was NOT enough! Globus is recommended. Grab it at a good price!

A nightclub has recently opened up near this hotel and loud music and people screaming was heard until 4am every night making it extremely difficult to sleep.

It is as described. If you are not too fussy, this is a good place in Florence for the money. Breakfasts are okay, employees are friendly. Neighbourhood a bit ruff, not because of safety but because of crowd. Generally we had a good stay.

The hotel has an excellent location, less than half a km from the train station and in the heart of the city. The only nuisance was wheeling our suitcases along the narrow uneven pavement that led to the hotel. The staff was very pleasant and welcoming. They gave us a hand with our bags. Breakfast was adequate and served with a flourish by a very agreeable gentleman. My compliments to him. I would definitely go there again.

Centrally located with very clean rooms and common areas. Most staff is very accommodating. Go for higher priced, larger rooms since regular twin is very tight.

This was my third stay at Globus and I'll be going back again, I'm sure. The staff are very welcoming, and accommodating, rooms are a bit small but well-appointed, and the location is excellent, 5 minutes from the station or the duomo. The fornaio on the corner does lovely pizza slices.

We were pleased with the decor, comfort and service. The continental breakfast surpassed others with its individually brewed coffee and freshly baked filled coffee cake/pastry. We appreciated Nicholas' tip on how to see 'David' at a time when the line would be short and it would be free. This was an excellent stay for us.

This is a great little hotel. Staff are very friendly and the hotel is in general excellent. Breakfast is included and is pretty reasonable and a good start to the day. In general for the price i would definetly recomment this little hotel. Its location is also ideal being close by to some of the main sights and also the near by train and bus stations. I spent 4 weeks travelling thru italy staying in various budget hotels and this was by far the best hotel i stayed in. Rooms are small but very clean and kept clean by daily maids. Rooms come with a small TV and bar.

This was a wonderful hotel. The staff was very friendly, pleasant and helpful. We had two rooms (2 adults with 3 teenagers) and both were very nice--not real big, but certainly adequate. The breakfast was good. We appreciated the easy access to the internet to check our emails. The staff was very helpful in arranging reservations for us to the Academia, and in securing a driver to take us to Maranello on the day that we left. Our stay in Florence was a great experience all the way around. The only thing (which didn't bother us, but might be perceived as an inconvenience to some) was having to climb a flight of stairs to reach the hotel lobby.

Everything was excellent except that we can't sleep well on the first night. Both of us have the same eerie feelings.Rumors has it that it only happen to Asian people. Second night we requested to move room and we sort of ask permission to the spirit before we enter the room and the night was fine.Great hotel, nice people too, except for the unwelcomming spirit. :)

This was a great value. The rooms are very nice - modern design. The location is excellent right in the middle of the historic area. I can't imagine why anyone would spend more money on a hotel in this area. This was perfect. The location on a narrow street wedged between shops and cafes adds to its ambiance.

The location of Hotel Globus was great. It was right in the center of Florence and walking distance to shopping areas, restaurants and transportation. The website describes hotel as being 200 meters from the train station, which is not true. It is a bit farther. It would have been nice to know that before I carried heavy luggage to the hotel and up the stairs. You have to walk up two flights of stairs to get into the hotel. The staff was more than willing to help with the bags so this really wasn't an issue. The hotel and the common areas are very nice. There is a nice lounge area with a flat screen TV and high speed internet access. The staff is very professional and very helpful. The owner/manager, Micheal, is very good about dining suggestions, location of sights and Italian culture. The hotel was very accommodating for families with children and the rooms are very nice and newly decorated. The room temperatures were comfortable and the bathrooms were spacious and clean. The breakfast that was included was pretty good as well.

This is an excellent hotel. It is well located, you can walk to all the sights. The market is a 2 minute walk away. The staff are extremely helpful and can speak english well. Although the rooms are on the small side, it is very modern and clean. If not for the size of the room, this would most likely be a four star hotel.

The hotel was great. We traveled in a large group. For some, Globus was the most favorite hotel and others were not as charmed. It came down to the individual rooms and the luck of the draw. The staff was helpful about all requests except problems within rooms (ie: a TV not working was not a priority and would be gotten to when time permitted). I was happy with the hotel, location and staff and would stay there again.

The staff are very helpful. This was difficult how to locate their hotel by driving and carpark was difficult to be located. The staff are very patience to help us to find out the locations. The breakfast time for me is too late since I needed to take the 7:40am train to Rome but the breakfast started from 7:00am. I did not have time to take my breakfast. It would be perfect if the breakfast time shifts to 6:30am.

We had a wonderful stay at the Hoteel Globus, dont be put off by the street if yu are approaching from the train staion-the end where the hotel is is very quiet and totally safe. The decor and design of rooms are very good but even superior room is small-would not have liked to stay in standard rooms! The staff go out of their way to make your stay very pleasant,at breakfast it is pretty common to have to come back because there are only 6 tables for two and about 20 rooms.Ask for the superior rrom with bbalcony-no table or chairs but an enchanting view of the cupolas of both san lorenzo basilica and medici chapel-drag the room seats out to watch the sun sink below the russet domes of Firenze and ask for a bucket of ice for a bottle of champagne-its a sight and setting you will never forget!Would recommend online prior booking of Uffizi-even in late October 4 hour queues were unbearable, also try the tiny wine shop across the narrow street Zanobinis for a little tumbler of chianti or equally local Vina Real around the corner-we were the only tourists there but we were made very welcome!Dont miss local eateries Zsa-Zsa and fish deluxe at Lobs.A must is a visit to Baldovino in Santa Croce-a wine bar and restaurant side by side-unforgettable crostini creme de tartufo and wonderful woodsmoked pizza ,fresh salads and pasta. The one hour 30 min train ride to Sienna is also a great day out .

Stayed at Hotel Globus 10/8/04 - 10/16/04, single room. Even with double glazing and interior wooden shutters, the afterhours noise from the street kept me awake the first night (I had a single facing Via San Antonia). I telephoned reception at 2:30 a.m. asking for a room change; when I went down to breakfast Michele (I hope I have your name correct!) had me moved to a room facing the back - very peaceful, though I would be suspicious of the air handling unit there whenever it cranks up... As you can tell, quiet is much more important to me than a view (though rising above the back wall was the Medici chapel dome), and the staff at Globus really seemed to understand this. They are all wonderful people, with a superb command of English, and run a very pleasant hotel. Rooms were not large but there was space for a desk and chair, and the bathroom was nice; the bed was very comfortable. I also liked the quarry tile on the floor; everything combined to give an overall degree of modern style you don't necessarily find in a similarly-rated hotel. Breakfast was certainly better then I'm used to, with bowls of dried apricots, ham, delicious cakes, croissants, juices, etc. Convenient laundromat around the corner, and while I might have liked to be two or three blocks closer to the center of town we nevertheless had the Medici Chapel and central market on our doorstep. Anyway, walking from one end of town to the other is easy and enjoyable. Will certainly consider staying again at Globus whenever I go back to Florence; for variety's sake I'd probably look at other hotels, but with Hotel Globus as the standard. The Italian hotel star rating system doesn't always give you the best idea of what you'll be staying in; my friend and I had come from Rome where we stayed in another 3 star hotel that was certainly OK, but Globus we decided was just that much better. Hope you make it to London, Alessandro.

Hotel Globus is an excellent choice of where to stay when you are in Florence. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful even in the face of our many requests to book advance tickets for the museums and day tours. The location is excellent - near to the market if you want to haggle for some bargain gifts, a few minutes walk from Duomo and the main tourist sites and with plenty of good restaurants nearby. The rooms are nicely done and very comfortable. I would definitely return to this hotel when I'm next in the area and would wholly recommend it to my friends.

This hotel is located on a rather not-so-clean street; however, inside is new and clean. The room I had was rather small, but other than that, there was no problem. Very nice receptionists, delicious breakfast with variety of choice. You can use the internet for free, even though there was only one computer.
