The room was spacious for a triple and the facilities were clean and serviceable. Good value for money. The breakfast service was very friendly!

Senior couple of Switzerland with long international travelling experience (private and business): Very friendly atmosphere, good and quiet room (No.30) towards inside of courtyard. Very central position of hotel and only 5 to 20 min. by walking to reach all importante places. Fine continental breakfast with fine capucino. 10 min. near Market places and restaurants, especially recommendable: Giannino in S. Lorenz, Ristorante, Borgo S. Lorenzo 35/37, good quality at fair price. Felt at home in hotel Gioia as we speak italian. We fully recommend the Hotel Gioia.

Comfortable, quiet hotel in convenient location for the main sights in Florence. We were in a "disabled" room which was spacious but which may not be typical of the rest of the hotel, but it was great for us. staff very helpful. We would definitely try to stay here next time we visit Florence.

The hotel Gioia is a palatial gem.It has a very comfy and modern feel because of the furnishings and it has a lift/elevator. The room was spacious, clean and had great A/C which we needed in 95 plus degree weather. The room was quiet and had a wonderful bathroom with shower. The hotel is ideally located within walking distance of the railway, Duomo, Point Veccchio and Galleria de Academia. We walked everywhere. The best part was the helpful and friendly staff. There was Pascuale for breakfast, Tizano helped with finding sites, a local market and restaurants and Franco helped us find a Farmacia to get drops for an eye infection. We were included in the morning breakfast even though we booked through Venere.

We really enjoyed our stay here. This hotel was everything we could have asked for. It was walking distance from the train station (about 10 - 15 minutes). It was situated on the main street that linked all the attractions, which made it very easy to get everywhere. There was a supermarket, where you could buy all your drinks at a low cost just two doors down. The hotel room was spacious and our view overlooked the main street. The washroom was extremely narrow and a tight squeeze, but the room was beautifully decorated and very cozy. The breakfast was not so great. It consisted of bread, croissants, jam/peanut butter/butter, orange juice, coffee (which we wouldn't recommend drinking).

Was extremely handy to the centre of Florence and we walked to all the major attractions. A lovely room and a pretty decent continental breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay here. A little noisy due to ambulances using the main street below

Tiziano and his personal are very very kind. They treated us very well, as a family and gave us all chances to have an excellent holidays. The hotel is located in an excellent place, and you can go walking to every places. The large distance is 15 minutes or less. Our room was big, quiet and clean. Absolutely recommended hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!

The hotel is located very close to the historical centre. The staff were helpful and although the facilities appeared to be a little dated, there was everything we needed. Finding good hotels for a reasonable price in Florence is almost impossible and this one is a good compromise.

There's always something like a game to book only according to reviews on the net.But as soon as we entered the reception I felt that this was right. The welcome was warm, polite and made me totally confortable. A frist expression that only grew stronger. The hotel is very central. We had a room into the garden at it was quiet, big and clean.

The only saving grace of Gioia was the cleanliness of the rooms and the people at the desk. The entrance put us right off it is very dirty and unwelcoming as are the external surrounds. When we compared it to other 3 star hotels we had stayed in it was extremely disappointing.

Really nice hotel, clean and comfort. Very nice and friendly staffs, all of them! Ideal location, very close to everything. Could see bell tower from our window (Room 52). less than 5 minutes to Duomo; 3 minutes to Michelangelo's David; less than 15 minutes to Uffizi/Piazza della Signoria/Ponte Vecchio; about 10 minutes to railway station. Best pizza and T-bone steak nearby. There is an huge open market right around the street corner. nearby.

We asked for standard rooms and they were on the street. The noise was not a problem at night and the sound of church bells a delight. Elevator antique but a definite plus. The breakfast was plentiful and there was a good choice. Very nice staff. Overall a very pleasant stay with a wonderful location in the heart of Florence.

I like the hotel: location, room for size and quiet, staff is nice and very helpful. However, for this price I got much more in Rome. So, in mine opinion, it is a little overpricing.

Most friendly and helpful staff in all of the places we stayed in Italy. The hotel, although not new, was kept very clean. The showers were interesting due to the fact that the shower head was located in a corner of the stall, making it difficult to get under. The location is only a few blocks from all of the sights, shopping and retail, and train station in Florence. A short walk to everything.

Hotel Gioia was very nice and comfortable, the room and the bathroom were a good size and having the lift helped as well with our heavy bags. Good location close to the train station and Duomo and Academia. Only thing that wasnt the greatest was the breakfast compared to other european hotels i have stayed in but overall would definately recommend and would stay here again.

I had a excellent stay at Hotel Gioia. Given it's location in bustling and condensed Firenze center city, it was an unpretentious yet comfortable place. The street side room was a bit noisy but an acceptable trade off to have a "window on the city". The staff was very gracious and helpful. I would stay here again...

The two best things about Hotel Gioia are the staff and the location. We spent two rainy days in Florence but the location and the staff allowed us to follow our trip plan without interuption or delay. They provided directions and even supplied umbrellas to get us to our destinations within the city. Close to museums and many fine restaurants. Highly reccomended!

I stayed with my wife at the hotel for seven days and met up with two others travelling from Austrailia. It was very good value for money and really central, very clean and welcoming. My wife was very fond of Pasqualia the morning waiter who was charming. We would recommend this venue to all types of groups but especially for families. We will stay again next year.

Rooms big but not nice. Musty, noisy (floor squeaks, etc)and not comfortable. Very hot in Florence at the time and their air conditioning was not up to the challenge. Food poor. I was disappointed and moved to another hotel the next day. This is a decent choice for a cheap hotel, but not cheap enough to justify it.

This hotel had a really friendly gentleman working at the front desk. He was welcoming, and helpful with all our traveling questions. All I can say is wow. Florence is absolutely beautiful and it was an added bonus to stay at such a nice place with such nice people. It felt more like we were staying with friends than at a hotel. Everyone was very accommodating whether it was helping us with a few needed Italian words or directing us to some great restaurants. Every morning and evening we were greeted with a cheerful staff. Visiting a city for the first time and learning how to get around we never felt alone which helped in our wonderful adventure. We even enjoyed a night cap with the owner. A very pleasant way to call it a night and in the meantime picked up a few tips about the city. We would def absolutely return to this hotel when we visit again. The location was superb and everyone was fabulous.

The room was very clean, spacious, and brightly lit. The hotel is on Via Cavour, what many think of as THE main street in Florence (though only 2 lanes wide), very safe, close to all famous parts of the City. The staff is very friendly and helpful and available 24/7. My 5-day stay was very pleasant. And the price is very reasonable.

We spent three nights at the Gioia. The staff were very friendly and helpful (and spoke perfect English). The hotel has a reserved parking space in front to allow the loading and unloading of luggage from cars--which was extremely helpful. Once we were comfortably checked in, the staff directed us to local parking. We booked a triple room. At first we were given a room on a newly acquired floor. Unfortunately, we noticed a foul odor in the room. However, when we complained to the front desk, they graciously moved us to another room. That room was spacious and comfortable and the bathroom very clean. Breakfast was good (and again the staff were fantastic, including the gentleman who brought us our coffee). And the location can't be beat. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Gioia.

The hotel is located on the main city street, via Cavour, just outside the "old city". Via Cavour is really a continuation of via Calzaioli, which connects Plaza della Signoria to Plaza del Duomo. Five minutes of relaxed walk from the hotel along via Cavour take you straight to Plaza del Duomo and the tourist quarter. The hotel is also close (five min walk) to such attractions as the Medici chapel and Savonarolla’s monastery. The hotel is not far from the train station either. It took me 20 minutes to get there on foot with my suitcase. I could have taken a bus though: via Cavour is served by many buses. A taxi is an option too. The hotel is easy find by its shop-sign. The area is as safe as it could be. Via Cavour is a real High Street, full of people and traffic. If your room faces the street, it can possibly be noisy in there, but I had a room facing the inner yard (indicate your preferences when you book!) and it was very quiet. The room was fully equipped with an air-conditioner (a must-have in the summer), a fridge with a mini-bar, a TV, and a safe. The bathroom was perfectly clean with all the equipment in perfect working order. The staff was very helpful. When I arrived, they helped me with my bags and immediately provided me with a map. They never failed to serve me (and never complained!) when I was late for breakfast -- my nasty habit. However they were most helpful in the following incident. As I was leaving the hotel, I forgot to take the memory card for my camera out of the safe. I phoned the hotel from the train, and they mailed the card to my address in London at no extra charge. To sum up, I believe that the hotel is a great value for money and highly recommend it. Enjoy your time in Florence!

I wasn't that impressed with this hotel. My room was very small and a bit depressing. It had everything I needed, but the smell of stale cigarette smoke was very off putting. Location of this small charming hotel is great, within walking distance to SM Novella and Duomo. We were tired and decided to take a taxi to the hotel upon arrival at the train station which cost us about EUR8. We got a nice quiet (and spacious) room that opens into a big shared terrace which is very pleasant in the mornings. Room was clean and everything worked. I arrived without the right adapter for the power socket and the staff helped by lending me a suitable one although I didn't speak any Italian and he didn't speak any English. Bathroom was very spacious and a good shower curtain kept the rest of the bathroom dry. Breakfast was on the simple side, but ask for a cappucino and the staff will fix one, gratuito, for you. Overall, a very pleasant stay

Well, the hotel is quiet, very centrally located, but my room was pretty small and my bathroom was tiny. I was almost never in the room except to sleep- so this was ok. The front desk staff all spoke English well and helped get me cabs to airport and to organize reservations for the Uffizi, etc. Overall, they were very nice. One thing- not bad at all- but just to warn people if they want 'fancy' is that you are getting a clean, quiet, place to sleep, but it's very plain and very plainly decorated etc. If you're going to be out touring all day, great- but don't expect marble sinks and spa treatments, etc. Overall I got what I paid for.

People at the front desk are always smilling, they were very helpfull with providing directions to whichever questions we asked for. Location is perfect, just a few minutes away from every interesting place to visit. Just a suggestion for those taking digital photos, DO NOT go to the photo store a few steps to the right from hotel's front door. They are extremely expensive for a simple service as downloading the photos to a CD. No other place in Europe charged me more than Euros 5,- and those people charged me Euros 10,- arguing they are 'proffesionals', (the job they did is very unprofessional)... I recommend this hotel. Located within 5 mins of St Mark's Square, yet located in a very quiet area. It is a good base from which to visit Venice. Rooms and bathrooms are clean. As with much of Venice, it can be tricky to find the place first time around, especially if you are not used to Venetian street maps. So I would recommend ringing ahead for detailed directions, and also get a map as soon as you arrive in Venice.

Very good location, very close to all main touristic places. No need to take taxi or bus. Good location, but a bit noisy (close to a very noisy street). We had a room on last floor, situated on street side. Already noisy despite it was the last floor. However, we slept well. Bathroom very clean. Decoration in the room quite surprising. Hotel appears not so clean at first sight. We had to carry our luggages to our room. Parking is very close and quite expensive. We were two, and my wife was pregnant. For that reason we appreciated the fact that it was very close to all touristic sites. To conclude : a good compromise if you are on last floor or not on the street side.

Very close to the Duomo, and moderately close to other attractions. The advertised "terrace" had no chairs, a view of a wall and the air conditioning unit. Not a memorable hotel, but serviceable. One nice touch-we were there on my birthday and a small bottle of Spumante was left in the room for me.

One of the big advantages of the Gioia is its location, just 3min away from the Duomo. All major sights are within walking distance and having a break after hours of sight seeing doesn't require endless rides in crowded buses. We had a room on the rear side of the house and so traffic noise was not a problem. However, in the rooms on the entrance level next to the kitchen and the room where breakfast is served you probably won't enjoy many extensive sleep-ins, as the preparations for breakfast and the early risers are noticeable. The staff is very friendly and helpful, rooms are not too spacious but OK, and air conditioning is greatly appreciated during summer. People who are used to having a large breakfast will probably look for a bar after a few days. Altogether, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Gioia and would likely stay there again should we return to Florence.

We were warmly welcomed upon our arrival by the owner/manager. To our delightful surprise, we were upgraded to a triple room because it was our honeymoon. The room was huge! At least for a European hotel. And it had a large patio/balcony that you could walk out on. We spent one night just drinking red wine out on the balcony and enjoying the stars above. The hotel was very clean and within walking distance to all of the sights. The only cab we took was to and from the airport/bus station. We were very happy that the owner/manager spoke very good English since we were able to ask him how to travel to Pisa for a couple of hours. You can take the train (approx. 1 hour). They run about every hour on the hour. His suggestion was not to come back later than 9PM because there might not be any more scheduled train rides back. I had some laundry that needed service and the hotel collected it that night, sent it out the following day, and I had it back by the by 9pm. Everything was clean and nicely pressed. I can not comment enough on how friendly and helpful the hotel staff was. They are very accommodating on anything you need. They even gave us directions to a quaint little coffee shop that was incredibly good. This hotel is definitely a good bargain.

The staff were great and very helpful. The location was wonderful and very close to all we wanted to see. I would recommend this to anyone who travels.

The service was friendly, and the rooms were tidy, but the noisy street below kept us up a few nights. Would recommend staying there but not if you are a light sleeper!

Great Location! Basic clean place to stay. Bathroom was very clean, and everything in it worked well. Appearances from the street can be a little decieving. The outside of the hotel looks much worse than the inside. Staff were very polite and helpful, all fluent in english. One thing though - they pushed two single beds together to make a double - not very comfortable and not great for a romantic couple.

The hotel has a very good price performance. It is so central but still does not have the arrogance to treat customers badly knowing they are going to make money anyway by being so central anyway. They handled parking very well and overall helped at every moment. Just go and stay there...

zentral gelegenes Hotel mit mittlerem Standard und einem sehr mäßigen Frühstück, allerdings keine 5 Minuten vom Dom entfernt, gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis

Great location, courteous service. Spacious room, very clean. Could do with a firmer mattress(although found that to be a problem in a few of our hotels in Italy).

The customer service was wonderful. Everybody was very helpful. This was the largest room and bath on our whole trip. The host even made reservations for the Accademia and Uffizi Museum, for us. The hotel was very close to the train station. The hotel rooms were very clean and I would highly recommend to anybody.

Our stay at Gioia was a truly great one. Even though we had a 2nd floor room overlooking the street it was quiet with the double paned windows closed. Not that we kept them closed much because we didn´t want to miss anything. The room was just like the pictures and the bathroom was big enough for my 6 ft 1 in, 100 kg frame. We couldn´t believe how easy it was to walk to almost all of the major attractions of Florence. In addition there are great laundry facilities and internet close by. Continental breakfast was not in the great class, but was fresh and adequate enough to keep you going into the afternoon. Service in the restaurant was terrific as with all other requests for information or assistance. We would definitely choose Gioia when we return to Florence.

Very friendly staff, we were in the handicapped room so we had a large space. Good price for Florence, and an easy few blocks to all the sites.

The hotel was very good value for price and location, staff were friendly and very helpful, one very minor point, the shower was a bit too small.I had a very pleasant stay at the Gioia and would highly recommend it for its close location to the Duomo,Santa Croce, the Uffizi and the Ponte Vecchio. The next time I go to Florence i will definitely rebook the Gioia

This place was excellent. The location it seemed was central to everything as we were in Florence for 5 days. The staff was very friendly and informative, especially with airport, train and driving information. We enjoyed the outdoor terrace at nite but a table and chairs would have been really appealing. We were up pretty early every day so the set up for breakfast wasn't a factor for us. It was great to have a fridge for keeping stuff cold. Would definitely recommend and stay here again, the location is excellent for shopping. Close to the market.
