We had a triple room, and it was very spacious and comfortable. There was plenty of room for us and our 11 year old daughter. The staff were excellent -- very helpful. Internet connection was spotty, which was the only downside other than the somewhat distant location. Still, the neighborhood was quiet, which was a plus.

Excellent. Fantastic location and very reasonable for central Florence. Welcoming and helpful staff. I will certainly stay here again.

The staffs are perfect!!!! They are nice, warm, even drive my mother and me to catch the early train. Our room is huge, and very clean. Although there is no lift inside the hotel, (only one for the building), the staff helped us with moving the luggages. So I love this hotel!

Close to the Piazza San Marco, this hotel has a unique atmosphere that perfectly reflects the traditional florentine spirit! The rooms have antique furniture, high ceilings and modern bathrooms. Breakfast is excellent. The staff is incredibly helpful and nice (especially the two brothers, thank you!) about everything: sightseeing, outlets (25€ offered per customer), parking... And the hotel even provides books, guides and DVDs to watch in your room (where there's a DVD player) for free! The place to stay in Florence...

This is the 2nd hotel I've stayed at in Florence and it is excellent hotel for the price. The air-conditioning worked great, and the staff was friendly and assisted us with recommendations on sightseeing and restaurants. The breakfast offerings were very good, in fact, of 3 hotels we stayed at in 9 days in Tuscany, the Giglio breakfast offered the most. It is located in a quiet area but there is not much in the way of restaurants or shops near it. However, it is only a 10 minute walk to get into the Duomo main plaza. We would definitely stay here again, and highly recommend it.

A lovely hotel. The staff is very helpful and recommended a couple of terrific restaurants, arranged for museum tickets, and provided free transport to the train station when we left. The breakfast was delicious and generous. I would recommend this hotel.

Hotel was very nice, location was pretty good but a little ways from the center, which was tough on the very hot days when I was there. It's definitely a hotel that caters to foreigners and tries to make you as comfortable as possible. They drove me to the train station themselves.

My wife and I visited Florence April 2009The staff were most attentive and helpful. When they learned that we were running late for the Uffizi reservation time they immediately offered to drive us. The room overlooked a backyard in a residential area, with clothes drying on the balconies. It was a most delightful experience.

There was always a smile and a welcome at the desk. Everyone there seemed to really want to help in any way they could and yet all done in a thoroughly professional way. The desk provided excellent use of Internet facilities to provide information of any kind. The room was classic, high cielinged and just right for Florence. We had a super time there.

I was traveling with a friend from college and the Giglio was the perfect place to stay. It was on a quiet road, located about a 15 minute walk from the main attractions in Florence. When we first walked in the staff pointed out all the main attractions on a map, including a great place to overlook the whole city. They even have DVDs to watch for free if you want to stay in for the night, which I thought was great! The breakfast in the morning was great as well, they had a great variety of things to eat and everything was nicely prepared. For the price this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Thanks again!

I chose this hotel because of reviews on this and other sites. Only 10 mins walk from the city centre, Hotel Giglio is located in a quiet street in a safe neighbourhood. Unusually, it occupies the first floor of a building used for other purposes but that posed no issues whatsoever. The proprietors' promise of good service, clean and functional rooms and unfailing courtesy turned out to be an understatement. Our hosts were eager to be of assistance in a whole range of ways: nothing is too much trouble. Room 7 was neat and spacious, with ample storage space and a sizeable en-suite. The buffet breakfast was typical of Italian hotels and offered plenty of variety, enough to fill you for the morning's excursions. At 74 euros for a double room, I felt we got superb value for money. If you want to stay in a hotel which offers a warm welcome, super room, wonderful staff at a price which belies its quality, try Hotel Giglio. I'm looking no further if I should return to Florence. The city itself is easlily navigated and compact. Nothing that matters is very far from anywhere, unless you have to be dragged to Fiorentina's football stadium by your 17 year old son. In 4 days I only scratched the surface of this renaissance gem. Go!

Pros: 1. Spacious triple bedroom for two adults and one child. The price is reasonable. 2. The breakfast and reception areas are warm and inviting. 3. The owner, Marco, is professional and very friendly. He will answer all of your miscellaneous questions about touring the city. 4. Breakfast is extremely satisfying. You can even have a cup of cappuccino for free. The fruit salad is also impressive. If it is not breakfast time, you can order a cappuccino for only 1.5 euros. 5. The museum with the famous statue of David is only 3 minutes’ walking distance away. 6. A small supermarket is next to the museum, where you may buy fruit, bottled water, beer and other things. Special thanks to Marco and his brother: They were very helpful, personally chauffeuring my whole family twice because my wife’s foot fracture was still healing. The brothers drove us to the newer Medici castle, the furthest scenic spot from the hotel we wanted to see, and to the train station when we were leaving Florence for Rome. Cons: The door of the room is rather thin so noise from the hallway travels to the bedroom. Overall: I strongly recommend this hotel to you.

This hotel is on the second floor of a multi-storied building. A business is on the first floor. It is decorated nicely and our room was a good size as was the bathroom. The breakfast was bread, pastries, cereals, etc., and very good cappuccinos. It is a short walk to the Accademia and the rest of the tourist attractions are a walkable distance, but we were told the buses went by frequently, if you don’t want to walk. There didn’t seem to be any restaurants, etc., in the immediate area around the hotel, which may bother some people. The big plus for this hotel was its pleasant and informative staff. Each one was very courteous and helpful. The desk clerk and the two of us were the only ones up at 5:30AM when she called a cab for us. The cab came in 5 minutes. Now that’s service!

Giglio provided us the best hotel service we've ever had to date. Everyone speaks excellent English and goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable in Florence. They gave us plenty of suggestions for things to do and places to eat and they all turned out to be excellent. They even offered to drop us at the train station - which was a very thoughtful touch. Breakfast was great. The hotel location is convenient too - walking distance to the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

The staff was very gracious, offering local dining suggestions and even a ride to the train station. The meal we had at La Congrega, at Luca's recommendation, was outstanding. The location was centrally located, within walking distance of most of what we wanted to experience in Florence.

This Hotel is a bit far away from the center, but offered everything that we needed perfectly. Despite it's distance, it was still very easy to get around to everything we wanted to see. Plus, since we were so well energized, with such a delicious breakfast it was not a problem! It was absolutely everything and more that I expected out of a hotel of this caliber.

Nice place to stay in Florence. The hotel looks new and clean (the building is a little old, like everything in Florence!) Staff is very helpful and competent.

Hotel Giglio is housed on the first floor of a traditional Florentine building; our room was quite large, with a high coffered ceiling, air conditioning and a spotless ensuite with power shower. The king size bed was incredibly comfortable. Considering we only paid 90 euros a night and the hotel is less than 10 minutes' walk from the Piazza del Duomo, I think it was very good value. The staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English. The Continental breakfast provided each morning was above average, with fresh rolls or toast, cereal, fresh fruit & pastries - enough to set us up for a whole morning sight-seeing. The coffee's pretty good as well! Only negative I can think of is that there aren't any public areas in the hotel to relax in. Also there's not much to do immediately around the hotel and some of the buildings nearby are a little run down - but if you want to spend most of your time wandering the city and seeing all it has to offer (as we did) then that won't be too much of an issue! You're assured of a good night's sleep when you do stagger back in. Would definitely recommend the hotel. Incidentally, the owners also have an osteria (something like Del Cingiale) near the Ponte Vecchio - worth a visit and ask for the 'honeymoon' table if you're a couple :-)

Nice Place, Doors to room a little flimsy, giving a feeling of insecurity and doing little to filter out the noise of some of the louder guests. Nice Shower facility in room. Breakfast was good and the location was great. There was little explanation of some ofthe customs of the hotel such as leaving your room key at the desk, or how the (tiny) TV worked.
