This hotel was in a great location and was more affordable than many of the other places I looked into in Florence. However the owner had a smelly dog and the whole place smelled a bit funny as a result. There were lots of mosquitos in our room so we had to keep all windows closed. Luckily there was air conditioning. The real disappointment in this place was the very expensive internet and the owners attitude. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Great location from station & walking distance to all sites. Stairs steep with large bags & rooms a little tied but if you are basically there to sleep the beds are comfortable. Owner has a lovely Lab Retriever. We had just the best weather for a winter visit to an excellent city.

Great location near station and a short walk to major tourist sights. Manager very helpful about places to eat for great meals at good prices and for sights to see. NOTE: No aircon, so with the windows open at night some rooms that face the plaza can be noisy. Take ear plugs. Small, adequate bathroom. No lift. If you have heavy bags be prepared. Do not be put off by these comments as it is still great value for money in what is a very expensive city. Would stay again without hesitation.

Hotel was close to all the sights as promised. It is located on a square so it was very noisy 24/7. Take ear plugs if you plan to sleep. Rooms were hot and uncomfortable because of the lack of air conditioning or fans. There is no lift, so pack lightly.

The rooms were great considering it was not very expensive for a two night stay. I really enjoyed how close it was to everything, literally across the street from the train station and just a 5-10 minute walk from the main areas of Florence. The leather market was a great place to find gifts for myself and my family, and many of the museums were great but the lines are very long. Make sure you buy your tickets in advance if you plan on going to a museum.

Good Facilities and Excellent Service. True to what they claimed. It would have been a straight 9/10 rating on all points if there was an ensuite option. However, we were on the first level and sharing between the 3 rooms on our level was not a problem. (Might be different if the other guests were not to your standards). Shower in room was good. It was an excellent location and very clean so I would definitely return to this Hotel.

+ The hotel is quite close to Florence main train station and acceptable walk distance to main place of interesting. - If you ordered double room with shower like us, please know that actually the WC is on the corridor and the room is really really tiny, the shower is in the same bed room just one step beside the bed with plastic hanging surrounded. - It is so NOSIY at night. We can hear the noise from neighbours and streets over night. Espcially the noisy of trucks (upload & load) makes me feel like sleep on the street. - this is the first hotel I met asked for luggage deposit from guest. The hotel check out time is 10am and our train is 11:30, we are asked to pay euro2 per luggage just for 1 hour storage. I shared my real experience here and definitely will not recommend any of my friends to stay there anymore.

Sayed at Hotel Fiorentino in Florence for 5 days in January 2008 in a double room on the 2nd floor. No lift but don't think that is unusual for Florence - although it was a struggle to carry bags up that many steps (maybe I should pack lighter!)TV in room. Room was clean & relatively quiet with windows shut - we left open for air as we couldn't turn down the heating so did hear some noise from street below. We stayed in Winter but imagine the room would get really hot in summer as there appeared to be no cooling. Share bathroom was adequate although somewhat bizarre, 2 available, never waited and plenty of hot water.

WE HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE AT ALBERGO FIORENTINO. OUR ROOM WAS AT THE LAST FLOOR WITHOUT LIFT. THE ROOM WAS VERY AWFUL, NOT VERY CLEAN AND COLD. THE CENTRAL HEATING DIDN'T WORK VERY WELL AND MOREOVER THE WINDOWS WERE OLD AND LOT OF AIR ENTERED FROM IT AND MANY NOISES TOO. THE BED WAS VERY VERY UNCONFORTABLE, WE CAN'T SLEEP. THE FLOOR WAS OLD TOO AND LIKE THAT ON THE STREET. THE SHARED BATHROOM WAS ACCETTABLY CLEAN BUT THE WAS THE QUEUE TO GO INTO. ENDLY YOU MUST PAY AS YOU ARRIVE AND IF YOU DON'T PAY IN CASHE YOU HAVE TO PAY 2% IN ADDICTION. TOO EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT OFFERS

The hotel is very old and is deceiving from the outside, however, it is extremely well kept, from an accommodation point of view. There is no elevator and many stairs to climb. The rooms, bathrooms and public areas are scrupulously clean....you notice that as soon as you walk in the front door. The staff members are very nice and extremely helpful. My room was quite modern, whereas my son's room was older and smaller. We were asked to pay when we arrived, which is not normally expected. For the price, our stay was well worth while. I travelled with my adult son.

Close to train station. Close from the Duomo, walking distance. The only thing that felt like a trick to me, is that when you book you choose having the shower in your room and pay more, but literally the only thing you get in your room is the shower, as the w.c. is shared in each floor. The shower is in the room as another piece of furniture, so if you travel with friends and want to take a shower, you won't have any privacy.

The hotel location was perfect, it was only one block away from Santa Maria Novella's Train Station so it was really easy for us to get there. Regarding the distance from the museums and monuments, since Florence it's a small city everything was close and people there is really nice and give you directions of how to get to all the cool places to visit.

The Hotel location isn't bad at all: next to the train station and all the other sights. But when I booked the room, I thought, there would be a bathroom in the bedroom itself. That wasn't the case. There were two bathrooms on the floor. So it looked more like a hostel. But the bathrooms were clean.

This is the worst hotel I ever stayed. The only positive thing about it is the area; it is close to the main train station and the cathedral. But that's it. The room was small and dirty. I booked the room with bath but that doesn't mean that you have your own bathroom. You will find a tiny shower in the room, but there is still no private WC. The staff isn't very friendly and you are ask to pay immediately. I WOULD NEVER EVER STAY THERE AGAIN!!!

NEVER stay in this hotel. We were in europe for 2 weeks, and this was the worst hotel and the only hotel that asked for payment up-front. We did, and soon found out why. The room was nothing like that in the picture. It was basically someone else's room converted. Only a bed, not even a wardrobe. The Tv was broken, with a shared plug to the single fan.. On top of that, we had to walk 3 floors of dimly lit and old steps to the room. The owner of this place is a pure cheat. Tip: Use your common sense, never pay up-front. Ask to see the room first.

1) Warm welcome and suitable location near Firenze Rail Station. 2) For child of 7 years old the hotel charged 10 Euro extra for no additional service. 3) The interiors are medium comfortable. Venere should mention child policy for all their hotels. It is embarassing and inconvenient in the hotel to bargain about additional charge for child. Child cannot be considered as adults.

Overall very nice, you get what you pay for. It wasn't even that noisy as I expected from the other comments. Everything was clean, the hotel owner very friendly. After all if you consider that it's by far the cheapest hotel in the center it's more than ok. Don't expect a modern building, 100% noise blocking windows, stylish furniture (the owner likes IKEA...!) and you'll be completely satisfied. Maybe not suitable for business travellers, but I highly recommend it to young tourists - after all you're in Florence to see the city, not the inside of your hotel! ;)

Here, the private bathroom is outside your room and across the hall. It's dirty and it's not practical at all because you have to bring whatever you need back and forth everytime you make a bathroom trip. The room itself is small, and the furniture is dilapidated. There's no air con, only a nearly broken fan which shutters loudly throughout the night. You'll have to travel 5 floors up in a dark, scary staircase to get to your room. The hallways are unsafe, as the main door is usually accessible to the hotel's local pickpoketers outside. If you're paying by credit card, the manager will charge you an extra 3%, and when you're checking out, you'll have to pay an hourly fee for each suitcase if you want to leave it with the manager. Hotel Fiorentino is filthy. Save your Euros and go to a nice hotel. It is false advertising to say "private bathroom" when the bathroom is across the hall. Service was cheap for what the hotel demanded of its client. This hotel is definitely a NO - NO.

Installations crappy and filthy. At EUR 80 a single room, much better options can be found in the same zone. Moreover, upon arrival the two nights had already been charged in the credit card, despite the note in the web site saying that credit card number requested for reservation only (I was planning to pay cash and the credit card used was my daughter's, which caused me problems). Absolutely not recommended.

I had a double with shower, which cost 50 euro. They had us stayed in the apartment next door, which had it's own shower and toliet. The bathroom smelled extremely horrible. Smell so bad that we did not take a shower there, as I was only in florence for one day. The room was much more of a hostel than a hotel, and felt soooo cheap and dirty. It did not seem like a hotel room, rather a old apartment room with a shower in the closet. Sheets look dirty, but I brought my own sheet so it did not matter. This was the worst hotel I stayed in during my trip to Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan, and Paris. It is however very close to the train station. If walking from the terminal, then just walk past Santa Maria Novella and turn when the church ends down the side of the church. As soon as you turn, the street becomes Via degli Avelli and the hotel is right in front of you. Do not walk down the side of the church as I did.

This was one big let down and nearly spoilt our entire europe vacation...After outstanding stays in rome and venice, we arrived by the late night train into florence. several attempts by email to the property to elicit the precise location met with failure since all i managed to obtain was a readymade one liner with not much information. anyway, we found ourselves walking in the streets of florence asking every passerby to see if he know where this place was...luckily this place was not too far away from the SMN station and so we managed to find it... anyway, the property looked totally shady, there was this bloke sitting at the reception wearing a vest, and a bored expression...he didn't inspire much confidence either... the room was tiny, and stank...the bed was hard and also was shaped like a V...such that if two people slept on either sides...they would roll towards the center... and this room is right on the mainroad, so there is NO way to sleep with the windows open...even with the windows closed, road noise woke us up at 6 AM...and ofcourse, closing the window means closing the only source of ventilation (and light)... also, this was the only hotel in our entire trip that refused to hold our baggage for a few hours after checkout(we checked out at 11 AM, but our train out of florence was only at 6 PM)...luckily firenze SMN has left luggage facility available, so it didn't matter much... basically, i wont recommend this place to anyone...my suggestion would be to pay the extra moolah and stay some place better...

Not a horrible place, but not as clean as a lot of other places we stayed in the same price range. We didn't even stay in a 'hotel' persay, but rather an apartment type room, which did not have the security of someone at the door at all times. At night, the area was a bit dark and somewhat sketchy. Also, we were not told that we had to pay in cash so that was a bit annoying.

In this hotel, if you wan't to pay with credit card the employee said to you that it's necessary to paid 5 Euros more for the currency change in the bank. This is totaly ANORMAL. Personaly, I think that the employees are not very honests

Quite nosiey, hotel is located a block from the main Florence Artery and main Train Station. Beds were springy and that is being kind. No soap or toliet paper in the bathrooms. Must ask for these items at the desk. The employees though were very courteous.

The hotel is very simple (1 star), but it is located very centrally. For my claims it was the perfect hotel.

High price for very small room. But if you take location and average price considerations, it seems fine.

we just stay one night instead of 3 because of the noise, the quality of the bed and the location. very noisy and the bathroom isn't well organised (you have to pass through the shower if you want to go to the toilet!!!!)

El interés que ponía el recepcionista no es suficiente para un hostal demasiado caro para lo poca calidad que ofrece. Si eres joven y tragas con todo lo que te echen puede ser una opción, pero en la zona (y por poco más) hay otras posibilidades mejores.

For the price of each night, you couldn't beat it. It's a little out of the way, but it gave me a chance to figure out the city. Room was fine; queen bed, t.v, fan, big windows, and a sink. Bathroom was tiny, don't forget your shower shoes. It's very noisy by Santa Maria Novella, people gather all night, train station is near by. Just make sure to bring ear plugs, they make all the difference. If you only need the room for sleeping, I definately recomend this hotel.

Sucio y viejo. El "hotel" pide 59 euros por noche y no los vale ni de coña. Muy decepcionados. La foto que sale en la página web está trucada.

good and cheap place for people who do not intend to spend a fortune on spending the night in florence. the location of the hotel also has many advantages.

Pour lesz petits budjets, je vous le recommande. Les salles de bains communes sont spacieuses et très propres. L'hotel, proche de la gare, est très bien situé pour effectuer une visite touristique de florence.

Italy is expensive, and Florence is particularly so. This place is very basic, but was advertized as such, so no surprises. The room was quite adequate. The location is right next to the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella, and therefore close to the railway station - handy for everything but a bit noisy. Many bars, caffeterias and restaurants nearby. Overall a reasonable choice.

Must say that there was nothing the establishment could do about the noise level, as the room was in the middle of Florence, near the train and buses and there was always noise outside (not to mention the consturction). However, there were double doors to the balcony, which did help to keep some of the loudness out. Also must say that the gentlemen at the front desk were all SO helpful and polite.

The room itself was clean. It was in an annex to the hotel, which appeared to be part of a private apartment block. The stairway up to the room, shared with the other tenants of the building, was dark and dingey. The room looked out on a beautiful church. Unfortunately it was very noisy outside, and there were roadworks going on. I wouldn't have liked to stay there if I had been travelling alone.

Florance was cold during our stay and the heat was not on. For a cheap place to stay near the train station, you can not beat the Hotel Fiorentino. In fact, we had a wonderful view. However, the Hotel Fiorentino is a bit on the gritty side, but it served us very well. The price was right.

Fiorentino is located in a central position near the train station and is very cheap. The room was small but clean and not too noisy at night. Excellent for 1-2 nights accomodation, if u r looking for a longer stay consider a more confortable structure.

This hotel, while fairly clean and well located was very loud, smelled terrible, and was very cold. The noise level was increased by its location in front of a piazza and bus stop and also because of the amount of loud travellers up late at night. The smell from the bathroom, which seemed to be always in use was quite possibly the worst smelling room i have ever been in. If you are looking to stay somewhere cheap for one night this place is alright, but avoid it if you have to spend more than one night there.

Prices on the web were one third of prices indicated in the hotel, so it is advisable to book your room through the net. The hotel is well situated, staff is friendly and welcoming.

I suppose that every hotel should explain to customers that "shower in the room" doesn't mean that it is a bathroom with a shower ( we hav such standrads in Scandinavia) but only a poor shower cabin in the middle of the room. Really very uncomfortable!!!

It was not a hotel. It seemed like a dungeon on the fourth floor without elevators. The staircase was narrow, steep and claustrophobic. Very poor lighting. Overall experience was very bad. Would not recommend to anyone.

No breakfast, only a coffe-automat for the smallest coffee I have ever seen. Bed/matress was out of order/worn out, so sleeping was not really possible. The Heating did not work properly, so the room was very, very cold. And: A strong stench came out of the canalisation through the wash-basin. At least the employee was very friendly.
