The stuff were very impolite and they do not treat you as you pay and stay in a hotel. The service quality and room facilities are very poor. The rooms are always cold and the heating is not enough for the rooms. I will never go again to hotel ferretti.

This is a very good value hotel, handy for the station and city centre. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean, and the staff are always welcoming. I have stayed here several times over the past few years and would definitely recommend it as an excellent budget option.

An okay budget hotel at a good location in the center (but a bit difficult to find), with facilities close at hand. However, the evening staff was not very knowledgeable (couldn't tell us where to find an Internet cafe), and the shower curtain was so short that the room flooded after every shower. Also, we were glad not to have paid for the breakfast in advance, as it was not very exciting. A suggestion: make a computer with Internet access available to customers.

The owner of this tiny "hotel" is just friendly and somehow helpful, but the clerk guy is impolite. The room and furniture is too simple, so that I can not even recognize that was the room I booked. My window is just facing a bar's washing-room, so it's noisy during nights.

The room was very simple but very spacious. The service was very good. Everyone was extremely friendly. Breakfast was very basic. The location is great. There was someone available at reception 24 hrs and very willing to help. I had thought that the hotel has internet access, but it does not. Overall, had a very good experience.

This hotel is extremely convenient to the train station, the Duomo, Uffizi, and within walking distance for many restaurants. Florence is the only city that we visited and did not need to purchase transportation passes. The owner was most often working at the desk and he is very friendly. The room that we had was spacious and clean. However the bathroom was very small. In order to get in the shower you had to step through the extremely small space between the urinal and the toilet. The problems: 1) The stairs in this hotel are horrible. In order to get the lobby you must go up two flights of stairs. Then from the lobby to the rooms there is VERY narrow stairway to go up. 2) Lobby is very small. There is almost no room to check in. 3) Internet access is nice, but computer is very outdated and slow. 4) Almost no options for breakfast.

Great vaule and very close to everything. Only about five minutes walk... but easy to get lost in the narrow streets. Rooms are very large and it was generally quiet depending on the other guests. Staff were fantastic, great recomendations and advice. Stairs would challenge anyone with hips issues however.

This hotel completely exceded expectations. Although it was veryu near to the train station (which made it very easy to stay for just a night), it was also much closer to the center of Old Florence than I expected. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the included breakfast was more than adequate. I will stay here again!

For our quick stop in Florence, this place was fine with an adequate breakfast and good position very close to the train station (but a little hard to find without a map). There was only one internet access point so sometimes hard to get on the internet. Minimal outside noise. Good value for money. We would stay here again.

It was a recommended hotel to stay for couple of days. It just take 5 minutes walk to the railway station and the duomo and the bus access is easy to find near the hotel. Don't bring heavy and big luggage because it was located in the second floor and NO LIFT :P The hotels also provides internet connection =) I was so helpful for travelers who want to arrange next trip. I would like to stay there again if i came back someday =)

The Hotel Ferretti served the purpose my wife and I were seeking, a place to rest our heads for the night before rising early to catch a flight (short walk from the bus stop for the airport bus). However, at 4 am we were awakened by drunken yelling in the stairway. The windows were difficult to open and close, there was no clock, and the bathroom was tiny. If you're looking for comfort, beyond just a bed, don't stay here. However, the staff was very friendly and the location near the train and bus stations make this place friendly for those traveling through.

Went on March 08 with my wife. Booked double room, but We were given a triple room so it was spacious for us. bathroom was shared but never had to wait. Reception is on second floor, our room was on fourth floor, bringing heave luggage was very tiring. Stairs were lack of lightning in the night. Breakfast was good with large breakfast area. Got free internet station, but pc speed was not quite good. Near St Maria Novella station, walking needs 10 minutes, and pay attention to road sign since it was easy to get lost in building blocks.

Be careful!! Do not waste your money and your time. In brief if you sleep in the street is better than this Hotel. Imagine you are in street with four walls and a ceiling, that’s all. It was so cold, the window does not close properly and you hear the voice of your neighbours, the people walking in street. I think it was a Storage Room and they paint the walls !!! Dirty WC and bathroom. The breakfast was not enough, and the pictures was different with the web page, SO DIFFERENT!!! We travel Italy in Xmass and find this hotel the worst one.

The hotel is excellently located behind Santa Maria Novella church and close to the station -a walkable distance with a wheel suitcase (some steps through the pedestrian underpass). The room we had was spacious, the bathroom and shower was also suitably sized with good hot water and water pressure. Excellent cleanliness of the room, bathroom and hotel entrance area /lobby. The man at reception when we arrived was friendly and welcoming. We were early and we could leave our baggage. We had a late train on our departure day and we could leave all our baggage after check-out until it was time to leave. The woman on breakfast duty was decidedly grumpy and rude although later in reception she seemed OK. The breakfast is not worth paying for - awful bread, watered down "juice" and, something I thought would be impossible in Italy, undrinkable coffee. Go to a bar and buy a brioche and cappuccino. The food at the restaurant in the small piazza in front of the hotel was poor quality and the price was high for what was served, but the ambience on a summer evening is very enticing. The hotel is a single star hotel and conforms to the rating. We were there for only one night and because of the location and price it suited us well. No TV or aircon (one star) so might not be suitable for family with children who need to be "entertained" at night.

I had a single room with my door right next to the room, where the breakfast was served. If you like it to awake by the sound of the breakfast prepared at around 7.00 I can recommend you this room. But worst thing during my stay was the shared bathroom which needs not only urgently to be renovated but also lacks of any possibilities to leave your towel on a clean place. (Personally I don´t like to put it directly on the toilet during showering.)Hopefully double bedrooms are furnished better, but my cupboard looked like taken from the bulk waste. All walls need to be painted and were partly mould-invested. Positively I have to admit that the bed was OK and the place was a good starting point for sightseeing. Not much noise from outside, but deep-frying smell from the restaurant kitchen in the basement was filling your room. My résumé: not a good choice for 55 Euro!

Excellent service. Excellent location. I would highly recommend this hotel. It is family-run, the owner takes personal interest in making sure your stay is pleasant, his wife ensures the place is immaculate and the breakfast is good to, coffee was excellent. My sister and I just god strange vibes from the female owner once, but I think it was due to the fact that she likes things to run on the dot, so we didn't take that entirely wrong. The male owner made up for this with his genuine hospitality, quality of services offered and constant willingness to help. Location is great, only a few minutes from the train station, it is right next to a very good restaurant where we had an excellent dinner one night, but if you are not eating out late, it can get noisy because this restaurant is very popular and Italians enjoy their late dinners. I would highly recommend this place though, and I will return to it when I go back to Florence.

I have stayed at the Ferretti once before and came back because of the hospitality and friendliness. It was the same this time and we truly appreciate it. My only comment would be on the water pressure in the shower. You get hot water only very early in the morning, and the pressure is only a small stream of water. We especially loved a nearby rotisserie restaurant called di Spada, I believe? I may have the name wrong. But it is about 100 meters away. Thank you, Ferretti!

The only noise we had was from fellow travelers who arrived late and talked back and forth from the room to the communal bathroom. It was also cold in our room. However, the people were nice, there's a nice place to eat virtually next door. We walked to the train and bus station easily. The quality and price were appropriate matches.

Hotel Ferretti did meet our expectations with the exception of the noise coming from the neighboring restaurant's kitchen window. We could hear the dish washing operation. The restaurant however was very very good and I recommend you try it regardless of where you stay in Florence. The staff at Hotel Ferretti was friendly and helpful especially when we asked to pay with our credit card instead of cash as the letter on our room desk demanded. The location is excellent but construction on a nearby building caused us to miss the street entrance on arrival from the train station. I would stay at Hotel Ferretti again. We had plenty of hot water for showers which we lacked at our hotel in Rome. It is decent low priced hotel in beautiful Florence.

Great location very convenient to everything. As with many hotels in Italy only accepted cash payment. There appeared to be high value put on the rooms with a toilet compared to those without. Even those without still had a small shower and water basin, and appeared to be of better value. The only negative was the noise from the restaurant kitchen.I suspect that it was only bad in some of the rooms. Would still stay there again.

The hosts are wonderful, helpful and very nice. We had a room for 3, which was fine until we tried to go to bed. Our window opened to a courtyard shared with the restraunt next door. All evening long, banging dishes, silverware, and cleaning of pots. Our other dissapointment came on our last day, I noticed lots of red bites on my body, it turns out the bed had bedbugs. Which is too bad, the location is wonderful, and they are very nice, but there were bedbugs.

We stayed here for 3 nights. it's certainly the best value for money hotel i've been to in italy. very central location, 5 mins to the train station. we had some difficulties finding the hotel when we arrived as it was already dark, and there was a construction going on that visually blocked the small entrance to Via Belle Donne. but then, u wont get lost as you know the hotel is somewhere within the area. if you're a budget traveller, this is the place to be! there's also a fine restaurant next to the hotel, serving authentic florence cuisine, expect to pay around €30 per person for starters, main course, and house wine. the service can be quite slow when it's full house.

The hotel is very simple and compared with other cities very expensive for what it is. but that is not fault of the hotel but of the high hotel prices in florence. in any case, it is clean and staff is very friendly. the location is very good. therefore for florence prices, it is a good alternative if you are there to experience the city and not the hotel. i think it is recommendable.

Spent 2 nites here and the folks were great - spoke english well and help in every way possible. Our only gripe was with the instructions to get to there address. When you leave the train station and walk past the church and piazza - head for the huge construction crane at the lower left corner of the piazza - the entry to their pedestrian-only street is completely obscured by the huge construction crane -- leaving us walking around in circles for half an hour. No fault of the owners - those people were GREAT and they serve a generous, lovely breakfast. Definitely choose them for your Florence stay.

What a jewel! This review is long overdue, but I promised Luciano I'd write one. The staff at Ferretti truly make the stay. They're helpful with restaurant advice, museum tips, even let me spend way too much time on the internet trying to find a place to stay in Siena (though I soon found Florence has plenty of internet cafes). My single room, without bath, was clean and spacious, with a sink and a ceiling fan. The shared bathroom was a bit tight, but certainly adequate. I found it clean most times I used it (no one can guarantee the cleanliness of other guests when you share a bathroom). Breakfast is nothing fancy but it's tasty, filling, and there's a Herald-Tribune if you're dying for news. I walked Florence and found Ferretti nicely located (close to the train station so you don't have to lug bags too far). The only quip I had was some noisy guests nearby, but I didn't complain, so I can't say how that would have been handled. I would definitely stay again to get the most out of my weak, weak U.S. Dollar.

What a find! Great location, an easy walk from the train station (not more than ten minutes) and convenient to all the major sites. Extremely helpful staff, very clean and large room, and very quiet (literally no street noise) Free internet and complimentary cold juice anytime of the day or night. They also suggested a restaurant just around the corner that was superb. La Spada. We have travelled extensively in Europe and if we should ever venture to Florence again, I would look no further than the Hotel Ferretti. I would also not hesitate to recommend this hotel to any of our traveling friends. A real gem. Go...enjoy!

This is a lovely place to stay - and I've judged it bearing in mind that this is central Florence, where nothing can really be both spacious and cheap. The couple who run the Ferretti are really lovely and friendly, there is a breakfast/reading area with free internet access, and you feel this is a home from home and that real effort is being made to keep it that way. The room wasn't really that quiet, but to be honest it was a pleasure hearing the bustle from the tiny piazza below, and the chimes of the Duomo - a very authentic experience. The bathroom we shared with others was admittedly tiny, but this was the only downside in total. Like most places in Italy, a 'double bed' is actually two singles together, by the way, with shared bedding. But that's not really a problem. I hope to stay here again. It's minutes away from the station but also from the very centre of Florence - ideal.

We were in a "special room" so I know that other rooms were better. Couldn´t access both sides of the double bed and there was roll together. Sink in room had a bit of a leak. Breakfast was great and free internet also. Location very good near train station but not noisy at all.

The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, and took care of making museum and tour group reservations for us, along with providing us with city maps and recommending a restaurant. The rooms were simple, but clean and more than adequate, with comfortable beds and sinks in the rooms without private bathrooms. The free internet was nice perk, and a complimentary breakfast was available every morning-- though it wasn't anything exceptional. The hotel is located in a great spot, close to museums, the train station, and restaurants. We would definitely go back.

The hotel was exactly as advertised. The shared bath I used had a broken shower handle that sprayed water everywhere, but that would be my only complaint. A very very good value for the money and very close to everything I wanted to see.

We had a great stay at ferretti even though we were only there one night! It is definately a very good value. Suzy was incredibly helpful the whole time! It is also in a great location.

We were surprised by the discrepancy between the online reviews (most were positive) vs. our experience at Ferretti. The room was small and in shabby condition, the lighting was dark, the furniture was old and mismatched, the decor is circa 1970's, the walls were apparently unfinished since there was visible styrofoam between the wall and the wood paneling. During our stay, there was construction in the courtyard from around 9AM - 6PM; so there was noise most of the day and workers outside our window, and there was no view from our room. The door to our room was not substantial and we heard all the noise in the hallway e.g. the person at the computer typing all day and night (yes, there is free internet access, but one guest was permanently planted at the computer and rarely left to allow others access). The breakfast was average. The shared bathroom was somewhat clean and most of the time available without waiting. The hosts were hospitable, however, did not give good recommendations for local eateries and in fact, gave us incorrect train information. We did not meet Luciano (reported a wealth of information and local recommendations as stated in the online reviews) until check out. On the positive side, this pensione is in a central location for all the sights and the train location. The neighborhood of Ferretti was fine and safety was not an issue. This pensione is not a good value for the money. We would not recommend this pensione to others. In the same price range, there are better options.

The owner is quite nice and the room is fine. It's the noise that bothered us when we stayed there. The restaurant was loud and you could hear plates clicking, forks dropping till midnight.

I did enjoy Ferretti, the location, too. But it was noisy at night.

Clean room, walking distance to sites and train station. Very much noise from the neighboring restaurant which settles down about 10 :30 pm and wakes you back up about 7:30am. Otherwise , a good value.

I was very comfortable and enjoyed my six-night stay. The location is very good. The proprietors and night staff were unfailingly cheerful and helpful. Two suggestions: add a jar of granola or muesli to the breakfast offerings; and add a curtain to the bath/shower (I was in the "apartment"). I especially enjoyed the availability of Le Monde and the Herald Tribune in the breakfast room.

We had a warm welcome in the early hours of our arrival. Sue and her husband and son were very kind hearted. We loved the convenience of the hotel and although we had a little trouble finding this little street coming home at night, we very much enjoyed the privacy of the location during sleeping hours. Thanks for the great find!

Our stay here was great. Our room was the double directly off of the entry way and also overlooked the neighboring resturant, so it could get fairly noisy at night. However, ear plugs covered up any noise. Everyone was really nice and the location is great--an easy walk from both the train station and to all the sights.

The owner, Luciano couldnt have been more friendly and helpful, booking us tickets to museums and offering use of the internet to check trains etc. The hotel was very central (5 mins walk to all major attractions, however rooms were very quiet. An excellent budget hotel.

We loved our stay at Pension Ferretti. Luciano and Suisy were so hospitable and kind, we felt very relaxed and happy there. Breakfasts were brilliant, the rooms just what we wanted and the location perfect. We will recommend it to anyone wanting a holiday in beautiful Florence.

Hotel Ferretti is a very charming hotel. The combination of the location (right in the centre with two good authentic restaurants in the same street), good service (the hotel will assist you in making reservations for the major museums) and very friendly owner make for a very good price/quality for a one star accommodation. Our room and our bathroom were pleasant and clean and located at the front of the hotel. Although we have read some reviews commenting about the noise level in the rooms we have had no such experience. We have had a very pleasant week stay in Florence and we highly recommend this hotel. I think the price is a bit high for what you get--substandard breakfast and cold room (heat is only on from 7pm to 7am). I would also recommend that anyone staying in a room near the eating area & restroom be warned that it is VERY noisey.

I guess everything in Florence is overpriced, but it seemed very expensive. Still, the service was good and the room was clean. The breakfast was not very good, though.

The hotel location was ideal, as it was close to the train station, the Duomo and all other important sites. The accommodations could have been better but it was the staff that made the property more than worth the stay. Luciano and the others were the best reason to stay.

The property is a little drab, but you can't beat the location. The owner was there daily, offereing dining tips, bus-riding instructions, and a whole lot of cheer.
