I don't even get to know the entire hotel because as we arrive the people at the fornt desk told us they had a problem with te reservation and they send us to other hotel, they pay for the taxi to take us to the Hotel Roma which was very nice, the room was great, really clean, the people also was great. It was very well located at Piazza Santa Maria Novella.

I was pleasantly surprised at the standard of this hotel against the price paid. It's definitely somewhere I would stay again. The breakfast wasn't bad, just your standard continental with some scrambled eggs/mini sausages. Not sure I would classify it as a 4 star though, more a 2/3 star. Decor a bit tired. Very close to the Duomo and everything elae walkable so ideal location for sightseeing.

My wife & I were given a (double) room no. 117 on the 1st night. That room was very noisy as it was next to a very heavy traffic lane next to the hotel. Hardly got any sleep at all. The bathroom is very narrow, very strangely arranged. We asked for a changed of room the next night and got Rm 214 which was much quieter and room is much better arranged. The corridor by the elevators stinks and the carpet on the stairs were terribly stained. This hotel is overrated at 4 stars. Would rate it at 2 stars!!

If it's location you're looking for - then this is the place -- less than one block from the Doumo and all downtown shopping and attractions. The hotel itself if a dive - filthy halls & elevators. Everything looked to be in severe need of a good cleaning. The hot water came out of the tube in drips, the carpet in the room and halls were filthy. The entire time we were there there was a cart of dirty linens outside our door -- the cart of clean was left by the elevator. The staff was cold an unwelcoming, even when they pretended to be interested. Palace it's not --

This hotel was very central to the main tourist attractions. The train station is only 10 minutes walk away, beware that it is cobblestones so difficult to walk if you have a lot of luggage. The breakfast was very good and sufficient. The staff helpful also. Would definately stay again.

The hotel is conveniently located for the duomo and historic centre of Florence. We enjoyed our stay and were happy with the standard of accommodation. The only negative comment would be that the staircase and corridors could do with redecoration and that the bathroom fittings in our room were rather tired. In other words some refurbishment would be in order, but this did not detract from our stay.

Hotel location is excellent! easy to find coming from train station and very central to major sites. good value for money given how overpriced Florence is, clean. this hotel is not really a 4 star (not clear why it is rated that way)--it seems to be undergoing some renovation in the hallways and elevators although the first floor reception/breakfast room and hotel rooms seem quite nice and up to date. overall I had a good experience here.

This is a great hotel in an excellent location, that is going to be even better because it was in the process of refurbishing, which made it a little bit noisy, but it is going to get better. This helps certain areas that are a bit runned down.

The only thing 4 star about this hotel is its location. The public areas are dirty, in desperate need of painting, carpeting, etc. This may once have been a 4 star but right now I would hesitate to give it 3. Very poorly rated.

WE STAYED IN THE sTARHOTEL rOSA mILAN AND FOUND THE ACCOMODATION EXCELLENT. tHIS HOTEL WAS QUOTED AT THE SAME STAR RATING BUT WAS DECIDEDLY POOR IN COMPARISON. iT WAS IN NEED OF RE-FURBISHING, WAS NOISY AND THERE WAS A MOST DISTURBING SMELL OF DRAINAGE IN THE ONE PUBLIC ROOM THEY HAD ON THE GROUND FLOOR. AS THIS WAS ALSO THE ROOM USED FOR BREAKFAST IT WAS VERY OFF-PUTING. WE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

From the pictures I had an impression that the hotel was better than it actually was. We did not like the room. The location was central and close to the Duomo but the street was noisy and crowded. The staff was good but we wouldn't stay there again next time.

Fenice is great for its location as it is only 1 minute away from San Lorenzo and 3 minuites from the Duomo. It serves warm crossiant. However, the noise level is very high as it is beside the main road. The room is however quite bare and basic. The only saving grace was the spaciousness.

Fantastic location, one block from the Duomo. Rooms are a bit shabby but perfectly functional. Not exactly charming in the old Italian sense but everything was clean and usuable. Room was a bit small. One big complaint is location in terms of noise -- on the corner of two major roads and an alley that amplifies sounds -- street noise all night. Very helpful concierge.

This hotel claims to be four star, but is probably only a 2 star. It was too expensive for what was offered. There were nicer hotels on the same street that were not as expensive. The rooms were not comfortable to be in and they were very noisy. I thought that the window was open when I arrived, but it was not. We booked 5 rooms for our family. Our Grandmother came to visit us at the hotel and they would not let her up into our room because she did not have her passport. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable and the blanket was like a burlap sack. I would never stay at this hotel again and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Staff at the hotel were excellent efficient and friendly, the food provided was adequate. Where the hotel accomodation failed was firstly the fact that the room supplied was very small, the wardrobes were designed to be used by tall individuals making it difficult for me to use comfortably as I am not exceptionally tall I also like to see daylight this was not possible as the room was at the rear of the elevator meaning that natural daylight was not an option.

Staff were most friendly and accommodating.when we arrived, the extra bed was too soft and lumpy.we notified the front desk and by the time we had finished breakfast, the bed had been replaced to our satisfaction. The hotel was literally a 2 minute walk to the duomo...couldn't have asked for a better location...easy access to everything worth seeing...would not hesitate in going back

The room we had on the 4th floor was spacious and clean although it had seen better days, a little dated. The noise from the road down below was intrusive at night from traffic. The location was excellent, just a short walk from the train station and within throwing distance of the Duomo. Micks David, the Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio all a short walk away. I would have said that this was more a 3 star than a 4. Overall a pleasant hotel.

In our experience the hotel facilities offered matched the website exactly. The staff were helpful and friendly at all times and although we speak passable Italian it was clear that resorting to English would not have been any problem to them. The location is first class being a very short walk from the Duomo and the centre attractions. For noise, you need to keep in mind that the location is a busy & lively city centre so opening the window will let in the trafic noise - on the plus side you also get all the atmosphere from the people and the bells! We would happily return.

The staff were very friendly and co-operative. The room was fine, but a little past it's best. The only real complaint was the shower - it worked by hose from the taps, and the hose kept on falling out of its wall holder. Also, the jet was unadjustable for both power and direction.

The hotel is definitely not a 4 star caliber, it's more of a low 3 star quality. Though the location is close to the center, it is also very noisy at night due to cars and those annoying little but loud motorcycles. The bathroom is so tight, I can barely move while taking a shower. I expected a lot more from a 4 star hotel than this hotel actually can provide, thus, I would not recommend it to anyone.

The only 'problem' and it is a very small one was that the toilet was in a rather difficult position. Had Alan or I been on the large side it could have made life very difficult altogether! So far as we were concerned, it was rather amusing but then, we are English. We stayed five days which is probably longer than most and we found the Hotel excellent with a wonderful feeling of friendliness. Diana Longshaw

We got a nice and really large room. Room 310 may be the largest in the hotel according to the floor plan. The noise level in the early morning is rather high due to the traffic. The hotel is very close to the beautiful historic centre.

A very good hotel in the heart of Florence. The Duomo (cathedral) is only 2 blocks away. Main train station is about a 10 minute walk. Very clean and competent employees. Free breakfast was good, though not spectacular. Noise level though was very bad. With a window open, every speeding Vespa down below could be heard. Even with the window closed, the water pipes made a lot of noise. I woke up numerous times during the night when a neighbor flushed his/her toilet. Everything considered, it was the least expensive hotel in the 3 star range. Considering the quality of the stay and the location, an excellent choice.

THe Hotel was in a terrific location only a block from the Duomo. The staff was very friendly, and breakfast was very good compared to the many others we had on our month long trip. The rooms however were extremely small. We had a double and a triple and the double was so small you could hardly get past the bed to reach a suitcase. The triple was equally tight. But the rooms were clean and the price wasn't bad for Florence. The great location made it very worthwhile.
