The hotel was in a great location(on Santa Maria Novela square)and very close to city attrection(walking distance). The room was very cwas close to hotelomfortable and clean with great marble inside the bathroom. The only problem we had was a very bad ventilation odor from the bathroom(we faced it with a room-deodorant which the receptionist brought us).The staff was very friendly and helpful.Breakfast was good enough for an italian hotel with a great cappuccino!Parking was close to hotel and costs 26e daily, but with a great service, since they pick up your car and they bring it back in front of the hotel's door.Great renaissance designs in the interior hotel.Definitely,I would recommend it!

Overall an excellent stay. Great continental breakfast in the morning and very helpful staff. If I were to give any constructive criticism, it would be to get new mirrors for the main room and newer beds.

Very nice hotel. 100 m from the railway and bus station. The view from our window was magnificent: Santa Maria Novella church and a quiet green square. Rather good breakfast, very nice people at the reception. Only one thing was not comfortable: in March it is rather cold in Florence and there is no central heating in the hotel, but condition works well, so you can make the temperature acceptable.

The hotel is conveniently located close to the railway station, beside the Church of Santa Maria Novella. You have to walk up a flight of steps to reach the reception, which may be a problem for some travellers. My room was large and clean, but it was pretty cold at night. Also the water from the shower was not very hot.

The hotel is very close to the train station, but not noisy at night. The surrounding area is nice. Breakfast is just fine but they serve since at 7.30 am, that's good thing for tourists who don't have much time.

Domus Florentiae is very well situated for the Santa Maria Novella train station, on the side of the very pleasant Piazza S.M Novella. However, it should be noted that there are two train stations serving Florence, and the through trains - e.g. Eurostar - use Stazione di Rifredi - which is much further out - a 10 minute taxi drive from the hotel. The hotel itself was very pleasant, with friendly staff, and our double room was good, reasonably spacious. But the room that our daughter and grandson shared was very small, and rather cold, with end to end single beds - not very good. Overall though, quite good, quiet situation, and reasonable price - for Florence !

Great location. Good sized bedroom and bathroom. Request for non-smoking room was met however because night shift reception staff chain-smoked, we had to put a towel under our door to prevent the smoke entering our bedroom. Foyer always stunk of smoke each morning. Breakfast was relatively basic.

Fantastic location, close to the bus and train station and within walking distance of everything you would want to see in Florence. The room was fairly basic, but quiet and clean, although I had problems with the toilet. Breakfast was fairly modest, but it was nice to sit out on the terrace and eat in the sunshine. All in all an adequate hotel, but not one to rave about.

A quaint hotel in a very convenient location only several minutes walk from the train station. Our bedroom window overlooked the square. This was the 1st time we have visited Florence and this hotel. Very nice hotel with the old world charm you expect when you visit old cities. Very close to everything walking distance from the hotel and the golden bridge is only 20min stroll away. we recomend a beautiful restaurant over the golden bridge called Golden View Open Bar for a very fine dineing experience. Take a trip out to "The Mall" an Hour's bus ride.

This hotel made for a lovely stay in Florence. We stayed in a beautifully presented room, with lovely, high ceilings and hardwood floorboards and the bathroom was spotless Manuela at reception was always so pleasant and smiling. She helped us book tours and was always so helpful. We would definitely stay at Domus Florientae again and recommend it to family and friends.

Very centrally located and easy to find close to the Santa Maria Novella station, and the beautiful church is your closest neighbour. Nice, relativaly spatious single room with a large bathroom; charming old style which fits so well with the impression of Florence. You can have your breakfast on an outdoor terrace, which I liked. Overall an excellent choice for a stay in Florence; it is great value for money. In general I would recommend this hotel to anybody.

A lot of mosquitoes, and the air-con was not working on that day. They did give us a 5Euro discount off our 80Euro price. The male reception staff in the evening shift was not helpful at lot; he should learn from his other much friendlier colleagues/ family members (this is a family run hotel i guess) to improve his communication and service skills. Location was great, truly within close walking distance from the Train station if you have heavy luggages.

Located very close to train station, extremely convenient. Our room was over the front walkway and there was pedestrian noise, but not a problem. Staff was very helpful with tour info, restaurants, etc. Lots of good restaurants located off of Santa Novella Plaza - check Rick Steve's book. Definitely would return and recommend to others.

Our first time to Italy. Florence is the second stop. The location of the hotel is good (actually, Florence is very small and within walking distance; i believe most hotels got good location). Compare to the one we have in Rome, Hotel Domus Florentiae is not as value for money. It priced 3-star but with 2-star quality. We were given a room levelled with the public area. When we opened the window in the bathroom, you will see immediately the public area right in front. Besides, the windows were broken. You couldn't close it properly. We told the receptionist; he said he couldn't do anything ('cos it was late - that was not around 8:00p- SIGH). Nothing happened for the following days. We gave up finally. Room was quiet as it faced the inside of the hotel - you won't bother to open your window 'cos one side faced directly into the hotel's public area (you can literally jump out and walk 2 steps over to the TV area!) and the other side opened to the window sill of another room - which you can also walk over within 2 steps. Bathroom ammenities is so-so, though it was spacious (unneccessarily). there isn't a hook in the bathroom for hanging towels/ clothes. The room itself is so-so. definitely not spacious. Our one large and one small suitcases have filled the entire room already. The only thing i consider ok is that the are wi-fi connected. free. but i'm sure you'll get it from most hotels. one other thing - it has elevator - which is convenient if you are travelling with heavy luggage. Breakfast also so-so. The "lobby" of the hotel is always dark - no light. You need to be careful if you got back at night. You will find yourself looking for the elevator in the dark...

I came to Florence on a short visit to hear a pupil of mine sing at the Teatro Communale. We chose this hotel for its closeness to the train station. It is central to all major attractions and we consider everything was in easy walking distance. Though we travelled in winter, we had the window open and the noise from the street was a bit loud during the night. The map and directions provided were not very helpful so I suggest you google map it beforehand. It's in a small street next to SMN, kinda dark with steps leading up the hotel so be prepared. A big old mirror in the room was kinda dirty but the cupboard and safe was really cool! Hotel staff were semi-friendly and only speak when spoken to. Place is conveniently located and they have a terrace where you can have breakfast which is pretty sweet.

This is a reasonably price, for Florece, hotel that is clean and friendly. The location is excellent - opposite St Maria Novella Cathedral and a short walk to the Duomo. It is a few minutes walk to both the bus station and railway station which is extremely handy. It is in a no-car street so if you have a lot of luggage you may struggle, though it is not far to go. Lots of cafes in the street alongside the hotel. I would use it again but the room I had was very small though it had all I needed and suited me OK. Good value for Florence. Don't miss the opportunity to go into the St. Maria Novella Cathedral.

This was our first time in Florence and the city is beautiful and I would recommend it to anyone. The position of the hotel is very good as it is just around 5 minutes walk from the Cathedral and the historical centre of Florence. The Hotel is vry convenient being just few minutes walk from the train station and exactly in Piazza Sta Maria Novella. Restaurants are very easy to come about and the food offered is very good in the ones we had been too. Prices tend to vary very much and one must be on the look out for a service charge that is not always specified on the menu. The hotel was very clean and breakfast was good although not abundant. At times, there is noise heard from the outside of the hotel. WSe enjoyed our stay at the Domus Florentiae and would recommend it as value for money and return any time.

Merci.

We stayed in the Double standard, the room was OK, we arrived late at night and the receptionist was very friendly and gave us a map and marked the sightseeing places were we could go. The only thing we were disappointed was that there was no hot water, so basically we couldn't shower. I don't know if it was our room or all the rooms as we didn't ask the receptionist as we were there for just one night. Ah yes also, for anyone who doesn't find the hotel (we searched for it and it was just in front of us...), the entrance is a normal door and inside there is the real entrance to the hotel. The number is a bit hidden (2), yet after sometime we found the hotel.

The hotel is located at the pedestrian part of the city, so be careful about where to leave your car. The large parking places near the hotel have "hourly rate only" and are quite expensive. If you arrive by train, no problem, since the train station is quite near. The breakfast is OK and one can enjoy it outside, on a terrace. Even though we asked for a double room, got a twin one.

Good location within 5 minutes of railway station and excellent base for seeing all the sights on foot. First problem was that the lift wasn't working so we had to carry cases up the stairs then Venere booking quoted my christian name rather than surname so we nearly didn't get a room. Room was ok but quite cool and we couldn't get heating to work. Most heat came from the heated towel rail in the bathroom but this only came on in the evening. Walls of room quite thin and we could hear people in adjoining room, whereas there was little noise from pedestrian area outside. The room was very clean but quite dark. Breakfast was very good and (in the summer) you could take this onto the balcony adjoining the breakfast room.

Ours was a quickie 3 day break. We flew Ryanair from Liverpool to Pisa. Terravision (what a confidence building name) coach to the rail station (70mins- 16 euros return), where the coach parks at the top of the ramp immediately in front of the station on the left looking at the station. Go down the walkway ramp towards the church. Cross the dual carriage way and turn right alongside the left of the church and you will see the hotel on the left. It had a HOTEL sign with flags below it and an illuminated “Domus Florentiae” neon sign. Reception is up a floor. We found the staff were great. Very helpful and extremely friendly. It took us about 3 minutes to walk the 150 metres to the bus. Our room was brilliant once we had mastered the toilet flush which appeared to have a mind of its own (or maybe it was us). The only thing we could find wrong was that a previous guest had broken one of the knobs on the multijet shower. However a quick word with the ever helpful reception and we were shown if we pushed the remaining spindle upwards we got a great hot shower. Breakfast was excellent with the usual cereals muesli orange juices and coffee/tea. There were also hot croissants, filled buns, yogurts and fruit. It was help yourself with a member of staff there to help if necessary. Excellent. Our room was at the front of the hotel behind the flags. Unfortunately the Italians have not yet mastered the art of talking at below 2000 decibels when wandering home at two o clock in the morning fortified by a few bottles of vino (just like the English). So if you are a very light sleeper like myself you may get disturbed a few times although double glazing is fitted. My wife snored away happily all night. The Dumo and the Bridges are no more than 5 minutes walk. The Academia is about 15 minutes dawdle along the river bank. There are lots of little restaurants where for about 25 euros you will get a half litre of house red, two pasta/pizza, sweats and coffee. A Great Hotel!

Best of all, it has a lift/elevator - even though it is small & slow - going to the 1st floor where they are located. Our superior-size room was pretty, clean & spacious, facing the alley next to the Church. We got twin beds joined as double bed & one single bed. The room can easily fit 3 people. The bathroom was clean and good size too. The simple continental breakfast was good, especially the yummy cafe latte in the mornings. The staffs were friendly and helpful.

We highly recommend this hotel to other travelers! The price, room description, and location were all as advertised. The hotel is literally across the street from the train station which made it convenient for travel. It is also within a five minute's walk of the town center. We traveled with a 15 month-old. The hotel provided us with a cot in the room (plenty of floor space). We never heard a sound when the windows were closed even though the hotel is located along a busy road. The breakfast was more than adequate and they provided milk for our little one. One warning...we had a rental car and elected to park it in the train station underground lot. Do not do this for a long period of time (24 hrs) and expect it to be cheap. Our ticket was 115 euro! Coordinate with the hotel to park in their lot across the street. Other perks: there is an internet cafe next to the hotel's front entrance. They are very cheap (1 euro for 15 minutes). There is also a small restaraunt with take-away food - great for taking back to the room.

I stayed in a Single room, which was actually quite spacious. I had a king-single bed (3 quarters of a double bed). My room opened onto the very small central courtyard. I arrived very late on Sat night, so I was looking forward to a sleep in, but the bells from the Santa Maria church rang continuously for Sunday Mass. That was lovely for atmosphere, but not so great for sleep. The bathroom was very well appointed and again, spacious for a single room. The shower was great. The lift didn't work when I arrived, but the receptionist came down to meet me and carried up my large suitcase for me. The lift was working when I left the next day. Great location for the train station. Closer than it appeared on the map. All in all, the only thing I could fault was the price - I paid about 114Euros for the single room for the night.

This is a lovely, well appointed hotel. The breakfastroom was charming and the breakfast was very good. the staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Our only criticism is that when we changed our plans and decided to stay two extra days,we had to change rooms to a smaller, less well appointed room.We wouldn't have minded except that we were charged the same amount for the smaller room. Two less important points: there are no bath mats and there is only one luggage rack in the double rooms.

A very disappointing hotel. Only a few rooms all on one floor of a converted building with no public space. Poor plumbing, tiny shower and a below average breakfast. Staff were very glum and not friendly or helpful.

Beautiful room with excellent architecture, furniture, bath. Only downside was that the A/C took forever to work, and it was warm outside, so we were very toasty. This was the only drawback, but a major one, and I would check it first thing if you were to stay here, and if it doesn't work request another room pronto. Location was excellent, close to tourist stops, shopping, and good food. Overall, would recommend, but would definitely recommend if the A/C situation was fixed.

At the beginning of the week, the breakfast was substantial, but dwindled through-out our stay, as if if they ran out of food from the first day, they just didn't replace that item. All else was fine.

This is a very nice boutique style hotel which is very convenient to railway station and bus station for airport buses. Convenient also for San Lorenzo market and adjacent to S M Novella Church. Easy walking to all attractions. I would stay at this hotel again should I return to Florence. Staff very helpful.

Hotel is close to station but difficult to find.Go right out of station, down to island, head for Santa Maria Novella church in front of you.You want the street at left of church. Room was a superior room as requested but did face the street unlike the description-very disappointing!. Also, it was next to breakfast room and kitchen.Noise from the street and Hotel courtyard each night. Cleaning staff did attempt to be quiet in the morning. Hotel location fine for all the sights in Florence.

Nice surprise. Never thought about staying in that part of the Piazza Santa Maria la Novella (I've been already more than 40 times to Firenze), as this street always looked to me as "cheap" area. The hotel is excellent to the standard of an Italian 3 stars hotel, staff friendly and helpful, rooms clean, quiet, and mine fairly big (I think I was upgraded. Only weak point is the breakfast, althought sufficient I would say that choice is not that big.

I HIGHLY recommend staying at Domus Florentiae. The service was unbeatable, and the quality of the rooms was astounding for a reasonable price. We also stay 2 days at Alba (in Florence) for the same price, and it wasn't even half of the value (or service). The location is ideal for those on the train who want to be close to downtown, and the safety, service, and breakfasts were as good or better than most places. This was the best hotel during out 3 weeks through Italy...

This is a wonderful hotel--fantastic service, beautifully decorated, quiet location. I would recommend this location to anyone traveling to Florence. Single rooms are a bit small; double rooms are quite comfortable and reasonably sized. A little difficult to find as the street is not visible from the train station. My son and I enjoyed our stay very much. Excellent value!

It's one of the best Hotels I've ever seen. And I do travel a lot (for work) and know quite a few good 4/5 star hotels. The rooms (a triple, in this case) was huge. No dirty carpet on the floor, but good wood. Nice florentine furniture. HUGE bed (king size, I believe). The bathroom even had a jacuzzi!!!The breakfast was just ok, but they do have a lovely breakfast room, and you can also enjoy the terrace. Very clean, very good, and inexpensive. Great little Hotel.

Hotel Domus Florentiae was great. Rooms where clean and spacious with luxurious draperies. The bathrooms where new and clean as well. Plenty of coffee for breakfast. Our room was facing the plaza and there was a lot of noise during the night - ask for a room which does not face the plaza unless you like people-watching.

The Domus Florentiae was my favourite hotel of my European holiday. The rooms we're charming and the bathroom quite large and the location ideal. My wife was also very impressed. The only problem we had was with a couple of pesky mosquitoes in the room.
