The hotel was close to the train station and the included breakfast was a bonus. However, the internet was not free and we had to buy a card for 15 hour internet access which was only connected once and we didn't get our money back, although the manager gave us a couple of cards to try but none worked. As is apparently the norm in Europe, no ironing facilities; no tea/coffee making facilities; no plates or cutleries; and no bar fridge were available. So be prepared if you’re travelling from Australia and expect such luxuries!!! European standards are lower than Aussie’s at least in hospitality industry!

I was surprised at welcoming friendliness, it made the place even greater. Well, may be just in my case, but till midnight or so was noises from household, like washing dishes or smth. otherwise was nicely quiet.

The hotel was easy to find and it's really walking distance from the train station. Signore Antonio was most helpful with giving us directions to all the places we had to go. The room we had was quiet, the hotel itself was walking distance to most of the main attractions in Florence (Uffizi, Academia, Duomo).

We had an excellent stay here in Florence! the location of the hotel was close enough to the station, and to major attractions that you didn't have to walk too far to see amazing sites. the staff was very nice and helpful and our room was spacious and clean. GREAT quality for the price we paid, even for high tourist season!

A good 20 min walk to the hotel from the main train station in Florence. The roads are narrow and cobbled and it is a nightmare to walk with trolley bags. Shouldn't be a problem if you are traveling light. Hotel is dated but clean with spacious rooms. Conveniently located. Short walk to Accademia (David) and to the Duomo. We stayed for one night. The hotel manager was good and helpful. He charged us 1 euro for internet use (20 mins max). We were a little tensed when the manager asked us for the only set of keys to our room when we left the hotel in morning for sight-seeing. We were relieved to find that everything was in its place when we came back. Okay for price.

I had the only room in the hotel without a bathroom, located on the main floor, somewhat behind the reception (bathroom/shower is shared with the receptionist, I think). The window faced the courtyard, and it was VERY quiet. There is a sink in the room, a small TV and a double bed. I think I payed 45 euros or so. This is an excellent deal for single travelers, students, or young simple couples looking to save some money, without compromising on the quality of lodging. The room and hotel were clean, quiet, with a staff that was helpful. There is Wifi in the room if you purchase a prepaid card from the reception (good for 3 days or so). Excellent deal for a very quiet simple and nice room in Florence. Walking to main attractions takes 10-15 minutes.

This hotel is a good choice if you want somewhere quiet and only five minutes walk from the train station. The room I stayed in didn't get much light but it was very quiet, something that I specifically asked for. The room was also clean and the coolness of the air-conditioning a welcome relief after the toil of trudging around Florence in the August sun! Breakfast was a bit light (only one croissant, bread roll, jams and juice) and you'd be better off skipping the coffee! The hotel is run by Antonio, who is a softly spoken but friendly and helpful guy. Many thanks.

Our travel plans changed at the last minute and we had to add an extra room and an extra day to our stay in Florence. The Hotel Delle Camilie was very, very accommodating. The owner was most gracious and helpful throughout our stay. The location is an easy walk from the SMN train station, so travelers arriving from Rome or the Pisa airport would have no trouble getting to the hotel.

Excellent location, with a nice bakery (alimentari) in front. Mr Antonio, the owner, does everything, and is kind and helpful. We would pay a little extra for having a frigo and a hairdrayer. When staying there, do not miss Cafe Deluxee (Via 27 Aprile x Piazza Independenza), another warm place, where you can find good food, wine and friendly chat with the owners Samuele and Ornella.

I was extremely disappointed to discover that the shower had no curtain or partition whatsoever, resulting in the bathroom flooding with each shower. Also you have to step up about 8 inches, just to enter the bathroom. Otherwise, very nice hotel. All staff, with the exception of one young man, were eager to help. Continental breakfast rather basic, but fresh.

Staff was very friendly and ready to accommodate us and make us feel comfortable. The interior of rooms has some drawbacks such as floor covering and size of shower cabins, but these are neutralized to some extent by the spaciousness of rooms and the number of hangers in the wardrobe.

Alberto was wonderful. He clearly is proud of his hotel. It was listed as a 3 star but was a 2 star. The room was tiny but clean and all that we needed. The neighborhood looked rough, but we found it was safe, close enough to the center of town and very safe with very good restaurants close by.It was a 5 star 2 star hotel.

Hotel Delle Camelie was the best value for money of all the hotels I stayed in in Italy. It was clean, comfortable and felt safe. It is in a location that allows easy access to tourist spots and the station - all were within walking distance. Despite being close to the major sights in Florence the hotel location, in a small street, means it is quiet. The staff were friendly and gave helpful tourist information. I heartily recommend this hotel.

Hotel Delle Camilie is a gem. I chose this hotel mainly because of its location - proximity to Fortezza da Basso and the Santa Maria Novella train station in Florence where I attended an international meeting for 5 days. It is within 10 min walk from the train station, not very easy to find if you do not have a detailed street map. The hotel owner Antonio is an English-speaking, quiet nice Italian man (local) who stays during the day (7:30 am to 6 pm or so) and readies breakfast (coffee or tea, juice, croissants and jams) for guests. In the evening, five college students take turn to keep watch. All of them were very helpful. The room I booked was huge, with a double and a twin beds. The only shortcomings were the small bathroom and inconsistent supply of hot water in the shower after 7-7:30 am. The maid forgot to change our sheets on a few days, but we were totally fine with that. Wireless internet signal was not great, but Antonio charges only 1 euro per 30 min use of his computer in the lobby (available most of the time). The room we're in was very quiet, and the beds comfortable. One other guest told us she had roaches coming out of the shower/sink drains in her bathroom, but I could not verify this (she gladly stayed for three weeks despite that). Florence is a small town and one can cover all major sight-seeing places by walking. For the very reasonable price we paid, I think Hotel Delle Camelie is a great choice.

The staff is primarily the owner and family, along with Caroline, a school teacher in "real" life. All were kind, outgoing and made the stay a pleaure. The room was as described, and quaint. Bathroom was small as is typical in Italy, but room size for 4 of us was large and clean, which are the most impt factors. The main bed was a little soft as the springs were old, but slept comfortably. The service and care was great and Antonio was a great host, giving us very good advice and suggestions. I enjoyed the hospitality and the hotel is very ideally located for travellers by train and is very close to all the attractions.

The door to the main entrance says to ring the bell, but try the door first! It was open, and I was embarrassed. The main concierge spoke English well, and was very friendly and welcoming. The room was a bit small, but there was room to move around, and the shower was nice (although you have to put your shampoo etc on the floor). The bed was comfy, although it looks a bit like a fold-out couch. The blinds are a bit tricky - look for the strap on the right (pull down to open, and pull out and up to close!). Oh, there is no hair dryer, so bring your own if you need one! Apart from taking a taxi to and from the train station, we were able to walk everywhere else in Florence we wanted to visit. Be sure not to miss the statue of David. Your map to the museum it's housed in may fail to mention that the door is on the side (in case you have trouble finding it). Oh, and the breakfast is very nice - he brings you espresso and steamed milk for your latte, and the bread was fresh.

After viewing the comments, I worried a bit about the hotel location, being afraid that it is hard to reach by foot. It turned out that I overworried. Although it is not right in city center, everything is within confortable walking distance. Besides this area is full of restaurants, good for your quest for italian food. The ower, Antonio, is extremely friendly and helpful. When we asked about train schedule to Pisa, he assured he would do it for us. There was 4-page printout of train schedule waiting for us on the counter when we returned hotel in the evening, so worry free! For sure he speaks fluent English. If you are looking for a simple yet secure and comfort stay in Florence, I highly recommend you Hotel Delle Camelie.

Well, it was just OK. Nothing much to highlight both negative or positive. The decoration is old and seems to need redecoration. The conspicious thing about room is the tall ceiling 4 meter or even may be higher so it gives very spacious feeling. The location is close to train station and a big park where there is a flea market on Sundays biweekly and is next to Piezza Independenta and not so close but also not far from main squares, attraction areas. Rooms were clean and breakfast OK, coffee was real nice and also fresh juice :). Staff was alright too, and answers questions raised to them and helpful. And despite being next to a busy road it is not noisy (1 block behind it). I guess it is one of the options in this price range.

This was my second stay at this hotel. It was clean and had a larger room than most hotels. It wasn't anything fancy, but a good value for the price. The gentleman at the front desk was helpful and they even had a service come and pick up your car to park it in a garage and then deliver it when you went to leave. There is no parking on the street and the near by garages were expensive, this worked out well.

This is a wonderful little establishment, just off the beaten track but very close to everything. The staff is outstanding and totally service-oriented. Great value and a very good price during our three day stay. The only noise (and it can get very noisy in the tourist areas of Florence) came from a neighbour's dog. This was my first stay at Hotel Delle Camelie. I was visiting my daughter in Florence and she lives right upstairs, so the location was perfect for me. Also very convenient to the train station and a quick jaunt from the airport. Within walking distance of all the great sites of Florence. The hotel is basic, not fancy or luxurious, but who wants to be in their room in Florence? It was clean and the operator, Antonio, is a gem, a truly wonderful human being - nice, helpful, friendly. I stayed for 2 full weeks and never tired of talking with him. Everyone else was nice, too. There's a nice little patio outside to sit out on in nice weather, if you do hang out around the hotel. I wholeheartedly recommend the hotel for any traveler who doesn't insist on 4 stars. The only problem I had the whole 2 weeks was that the lamp near the bed had a loose plug and would cut in and out some. I'm sure Antonio would have fixed it if I'd complained, but I didn't.

The hotel has everything a 2-star "soggiorno" could offer. the only drawback was that there were no food stores in the vicinity (the closest within 15 min. walk from it). However, there was a fine bakery right opposite with a nice pizza and calzone, and the railway station just a few blocks from the property.

It was nice to stay there considering the price, but when we arrived at the first day the bed cover looked old and not really clean, but they provides clean, new sheets and linnen as nomal. Overall good. The staff (I think he was owner) was very gentle and kind!!

Excellent! Really nice staff, only 10-15 mins to center and everything was so easy to reach. I would say that you should probably get a taxi to the hotel from the station if you arrive at night as it's too dark to follow instructions properly when you're tired as i was - taxis are great and not a rip off as they are on a meter. Try to ask where to go in Italian as the taxi drivers are one of the few lovely people who didn't speak English. Great value for money. We had a massive room and breakfast was nice, even took it to my room when i had a lazy morning. Clean towels and bedding. Couldn't ask for more for the price. Would highly recommend. (Get the number 7 to Fiesole, it's a wonderful small village in the mountains with a great view).

Hotel is a short walk from the train station and about 15-20 minutes walk from the center. Very friendly staff. I had a single room with shared bathroom, which was right next to my room and always very clean. Considering the price of accommodation in Florence, Hotel Delle Camelie is good value. I spent four nights there and was quite comfortable.

Delle Camellie is a hotel that has very good location. Walking distance to the major sites. Car parking available in the street outside the hotel, not much traffic. When walking to major sites, careful with some areas. Walk fast, hide your camera and everything is fine. For that price, I would look somewhere else.

My mother and I took a trip through Italy and stayed here during our stay in Florence. The walk from the train station is a little intimidating, but once we got to the hotel, we felt very safe. It seems a little bit of a distance from the major sites, such as the Uffizi and Ponte Vecchia, however it was about 4 blocks from the Academia. The neighborhood was very quiet, but hardly any restaurants near our hotel. The kind older gentleman that ran the hotel was extremely helpful and friendly and kind. I felt safe having him watch the door. I didn't feel very safe in the evenings, so we stayed in. The place was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast is typical for Italy. We would definetely stay here again if we came back.

The hotel staff were friendly and the room ok but the fact that the room did not have a bathroom was definitely a minus. The surrounding area was quiet but I would not recommend single travelers to come back to the hotel late in the evening as it did not feel safe. The train station is close by, only a ten minute walk away. The breakfast served consisted of a piece of white bread with jam and coffee or tea.

We had a room with a window facing the courtyard, and it was extremely quiet. We were very impressed by the kindness and the warm welcome we received by the staff. Breakfast is served in a lovely little room off the entrance. It was a very simple, European breakfast of rolls, jam and hot beverage. It is just a 10 or 15 minute walk to the Duomo and other sites from this hotel. We enjoyed a restaurant right around the corner, and there is also a great gelateria in the neighborhood. It was also close to the train station, so we walked there. We would stay at the Hotel Delle Camelie again if we returned to Florence.

Antonio Mainolfi (the owner) is an excellent host and speaks very good english. The room my mom and I got was quiet and very very spacious specially whe you think of what we paid! The bathroom was very nice and clean, rather newly redecorated och the beds were grate! This was the best trip ever and if you´re looking for a nice, small, family run hotel , this is it. A short stroll to the city center ( 10 min) and the nicest little Tabacc and deli around the corner. Since hotel prices in high season is quite high we certanly got more than we paid for. We recommend this to anyone who rather spend money on shopping, nice wines and sightseeing rather than a more luxurious hotel.

We (family with two children, 13 and 11) stayed in Feb/March for 3 nights. After coming from a bright cheerful hotel in Sorrento, the Delle Camelie seemed rather gloomy in its decor and layout, but the rooms were spacious enough, with comfortable beds, OK showers and very good value. Welcome was professional and the young men on night duty were happy to provide drinks, etc. Breakfast was the usual. Location is OK, ten minutes walk from the station and 15 minutes stroll into central Florence. I'd probably spend a little more money next time and get somewhere brighter and closer to the centre, but for 60e per room per night, the DC was just right.

The directions are perfect. Easy to find. An easy 10 minute walk from the train station. The area is safe to walk at night alone. Very nice staff, immediately you feel welcome, at home and safe. Located on a side street (low to no traffic noise) with a beautiful courtyard. My room was spacious and clean. Included a U.S. style electric plug for my electric shaver. Breakfast was very good, the coffee was very good and plentiful. The owner speaks excellent English and is very helpful and pleasant to talk with. Overall I would highly reccommend this hotel. I will go back the next time I am in Florence.

The Hotel Delle Camelie has an excellent relationship between price/quality and the quietness of the rooms is very good. The location is perfect both for reaching the hotel and for visiting the city. The owner, Mr. Antonio, is competent and likeable.

This hotel is a great bargain considering what you get for the price. The staff is very friendly and the location is a short walk from the train station. I paid 35 EUROS for a single room in low season (Dec 07. My only advise is to mind the fact that there is no elevator in the hotel so travel light.

A clean, quiet and well situated "budget" hotel, with a lovely welcome from the proprietor. We asked for a quiet room, and this was actioned. Breakfast basic but as expected in Italy. Would certainly recommend.

Although this is a small hotel, it is in a quiet area, but within 15 minutes walk of all Florece's major city centre attractions. Friedly, helpful and accommodating - very good! There are also some excellent reataurants within 5 minutes - just ask the owner.

The staff was more than helpful with all questions presented. The rooms were very big and easily accomidating for my girlfriend and I. They even had a 110 outlet for american appliances. For 90 euro a night, the room with the service, as well as the location to all the main attractions, was more than worth the price that was paid. A big appreciation goes to the staff who will definately have my business again the next time I am in Florence.
