Exceptionally well positioned hotel for all the sights in Florence which is exactly what you need. Clean rooms. Friendly staff. Good functional hotel. Breakfast was basic, the coffee was awful even though they had a proper coffee machine that the staff seemed to use!! We would stay again - despite the coffee

This hotel is well situated for the cathedral and other attractions within the city. It is quietly located yet within easy reach of the centre and approximately 20 minutes from the railway station. A good breakfast is provided and food is replenished promptly as it is taken form the buffet we obtained an offer rate of stay four and pay for three nights. I was asked to settle the bill in cash but did not face any problems when I explained I could not do this totally.

Nice hotel at an first class location. Rather noisy in rooms at street side. Unfortunately the airco didnot function properly so we had to choose between high temp and noise. Later the airco was fixed and we could sleep very well. Staff and personnel were very kind.

The hotel is excellent. Close to arirport, train station and a 10 minute walk from shopping centre, and another 10 minutes to get to the leaning tower. Staff are incredibly nice, helpful and welcoming. Breakfast is plentiful. Rooms are clean, spacious, and quiet. I would definitely return here if going back to Pisa. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Although it took us a little while to walk from the train station to the hotel, it all was well worth it. (We actually found a shorter way to go back to the train station for our departure). I will never forget our feeling of happiness when we opened the windows in our room to see what was around and we saw the cathedral tower and duomo to be a block away! Yes, we were 1 short block away from the Duomo (no church bells at night, they go on at 7 a.m.). The hotel was nice, travelers who stayed there were nice and courteous, and the hotel staff was very friendly. Everything is located within walking distance. Clientele consisted of vacationers and business people. Should we return to Florence again we will definitely stay at Hotel De Lanzi.

An extremely average hotel that could do with some investment. However the location is ideal and considering accommodation is so expensive in Florence it's not a bad choice, once your not too fussy about your room. It was clean but just old i.e. mildew in shower etc
USA, Apr 2009
This hotel is just what we wanted. Close and centrally located. Quiet and spacious rooms. We stayed only one night and thought all was good. The only thing I would change is in the directions to get to the hotel on foot, give a street to follow or directions instead of just saying it is a 10 minute walk from the train station. With such a large intersection it took walking a block and backtracking to know if we were going in the right direction.

Overall it was a great experience, though there were three details that were slightly irritating. First, we did not realize that the proximity to the Duomo meant that we would hear the bell ringing hourly (not at night thankfully) quite loudly in our room. Second, our windows looked out onto the hotel courtyard, which would not have been a problem, had we not been on the same level as the courtyard. Third, the buffet only had machine dispensed drinks, the only place in Italy where we encountered this. Overall, I would recommend this place, but know what you are getting and dont plan on sleeping in.

The parking service is very good. The best think is the situation just in the center of every thing in Florence. Dificult to find among the narrow and conplicated streets. The hotel is old but confortable

Major advantage of the hotel is its location - right in the center by the Dome; our room windows were facing the Dome. It was marvelous and in any case outweighed all shortages. It was a challenge to reach the hotel by car. A map, a taxi driver help, a couple of circles around the Center - finally, we have driven throuh the pedestrian area to get to the hotel - it was OK for Firenze. The garage cost EUR 25 per day though; in all other places of stay in Italy I managed to park for free. The price was quite reasonable since I got a special rate.

Well the place was in exellent location, easy to find half mile from the train station, the brekfast wasn't that good, the problem was not with the hotel but with venere, because I did try to cancel one night and the hotel said they couldn't because I had booked with venere, so I have to have that done with venre, so when i did try to cancel with venere I only was able if i cancel the four nights, so the front dask didn't do anything to help me with that, even being three days before I arrive to Milan. The location was the best and I would recomend anyone to stay there.

The hotel is located in a rather quiet area (for Florence, this is quite seldom). Expect the Dome bells to ring a 7 and the cleaning in the street to start arround 7 in the morning. The rooms are nice. The breakfast is not. The owners and personnel would gain smiling to their customer (we are not in a cemetery). Prices are rather high for the overall offer. S.R.

Excellent location... poor information provided, but good choice for staying in Florence. Watch out about paying with credit card... they almost didn't accept it.

Everyone one of the hotel staff that we encountered on our 3 day stay was horrible. From the rude front staff to the dining room staff. They were unaware that one of our travelling companions was fluent in italian. The way they treated other guests was also unacceptable. We will not stay there again and suggest that no one else does.

Overall, I can give this hotel a very good recommendation. I was so thrilled to get to the room and see that it had a proper, decent-sized bath - wonderful! The room was well proportioned too. The air-conditioning was excellent and that was very important. One great blight on our stay in Italy was the taxi strike and I was disappointed that the hotel couldn't offer an alternative form of transport to the station. I had injured my back moving house just before we arrived in Italy and it was truly miserable having to drag our suitcases from the station to the hotel and back again (in very hot weather) a few days later. Another little moan is that the breakfast rolls were as hard as rock - quite inedible. The rest of the breakfast was all right - but rather basic. It could very easily be improved which would be worth it. The guests would appreciate it.
USA, Jun 2006
What a delight, having booked my room on-line while in Italy, to find the hotel right next to the Douma. The room was spacious, the bed and bath clean, the breakfast has a long way to go, especially with the coffee. Good thing we were right in the heart of Frienze. Only one surprise, and thank goodness the staff informed us upon check-in. And that was "because of the special rate, we had to pay in Euro's (cash) when we checked out. I was planning on using my credit card. It was only a minor hiccup. The Hotel is absolutley perfect for those aggresive museum tourists, which are all within a comfortable walking distance from this gorgeous Hotel. Ciao, Yvonne Smith

The room was a bit small, but what it lacked in size it made up for in location - about a block from the Duomo! The shower was a bit bizzarre, as it had no curtain and no wall - it was just a faucet in between the toilet and the sink! VERY weird showering "out in the open" there. Breakfast was very good every morning. The elevator was extremely tiny...just big enough for 2 people with bags! But it worked. When we checked out, the staff seemed to be in a rush to get us out, and they sprang the "cash only" policy on us. But I knew this was coming because of others' comments on Venere.com, so thank you all! But be forewarned. Overall, it was an OK place - I have nothing horrible to say about it and would probably recommend it and/or stay there again. Just bring cash - ha!!

Bad experience - do not stay here. Incrediby incompetent staff. The Air Conditioning is controlled by the front desk, yet they DENY it. The A/C would turn off in the middle of the night, every night. When we complained, the staff always acted like they didn't know why that happened. One time, I stayed in the lobby to watch the staff person, and I saw him go hit a switch to turn on our A/C. The shower had no shower curtain. The toilet flushed about half the time. I saw their guest log, and almost every person was forced to pay in cash. What kind of 3-star place requires guests to pay in cash? I requested some of our money back, since the A/C didn't work half of the time, and the front desk guy acted like he was just a helpless worker. If you have to pay more to stay somewhere else, it willbe worth it.

This hotel is in a perfect location, walking distance to all attractions and some wonderful piazzas. The room was a little dark, but very clean and the bathroom was quite large and modern. Would definately recommend to others, especially for the price which was very reasonable. Breakfast was great too, everything was fresh. Small note, they told us when we checked in that the "special" price was for cash only, no credit cards which was slightly annoying since they didn't tell us when we booked. The hotel was very nice and the location is especially appealing--right outside your door is the Duomo! Service was good--especially from Beneto who appeared each day in early morning to afternoon. He was very helpful and the hotel made reservations for popular museums. Breakfast was quite adequate and there was plenty to eat. An excellent place to stay with good prices--just remember to have cash as they do not take credit cards for a room booked through the internet (according to the "stern looking" sister that assists in managing the hotel. Ich kann das Hotel nur empfehlen. Sie wollten zwar, daß ich bar bezahle, weil ich durch venere.com verbilligt gebucht hätte. Aber die Zahlung am Ende mit Kreditkarte war dann doch kein Problem. I didn't want to have to spend two nights in Florence but the location of De Lanza make the stays very enjoyable. We walked to all the areas because the hotel is centrally located. Room was very large and near the elevator which you could not hear. From our window you could see the tower of the church through the alley way. I didn't notice the bells from the church. Breakfast had a nice selections. All of the staff very helpful. Because we had been traveling already for 3 weeks a self service laundry mat wasn't that far to walk with the clothes in our suitcase. The room were cold in the morning and I froze when I got out of the shower. There didn't come very much water when I took shower. I could wash myself but 3-star hotel should have more comfort. The hotel does not accept credit cards even if the hotel it clearly informs on its web site that it accepts credit cards. When I tried to pay with a credit card I was told that I have to pay cach because I had a special price and with the credit card the peice would have been the double. In fact everybody in the hotel had a special price and I do not believe that anyone would pay 120 euros for a single room with that standard. I should have been informed about the paying practice when I booked the hotel. I do not consider that Hotel de Lanzi fullfils the requirements for a 3 star hotel it offers much more the service of a 2 star hotel. Next time in Florence I will choose another hotel even if the price (65 euros) and the location of a hotel were not bad.

When we checked out, the total had to be paid in cash, which we were never told in advance. It was something about the rate that we received that required cash payment. Also, with this great location comes the fact that the Duomo is just outside your window and if you don't bring earplugs, you will be jolted out of bed when the bells ring.

This is a good choice if you want to be right in the middle of the tourist sites. It is on a reasonably quiet little street (considering the area) literally a stone's throw from the Duomo. While I was tempted to ask for a room with a view of the Duomo, I decided that quietness was more important and took a room on the back side of the hotel with a window onto a very quiet little courtyard. The English-speaking staff was professional and helpful, although this place does not have a family-run feel. Very pleasant breakfast room with a Duomo view and a pretty solid breakfast. One minor glitch: because I booked through venere.com and received a nice discount, I had to pay in cash. This hasn't happened with me for other venere-booked hotels. Fortunately, there was an ATM right around the corner and I was on time to the airport. In general, I would stay here again, but would mildly prefer a similar quality place just a little further away from the crowds. That said, if I only had a day or two and wanted to pack in as much touring as possible, this would be a very sensible choice.

WOW! What a great location. I've been to Florence several times and this beats all for location and price. If you stand at the belltower of the Duomo and look down the street you are staring at DeLanzi. The bathroom was spacious for a European old city. Room was clean and so conviently located! I would tell anyone to stay here because you don't waste any time - you're in the heart of Florence! My only complaint was when we arrived the woman at the desk asked me to pay cash for the room, I explained this was not possible and that Venere said they accepted charge. When we went to check out though, there was no problem paying with a credit card.

Great location in spite of the bells! Ideal for all sights. Comfortable room and good bathroom. Helpful staff and good breakfast. Only problem was that they wouldn't accept a credit card and insisted on cash in order to get the good Venere rate - would have been useful to know this in advance.

Amazing location. Not a great room, but not bad either-sort of average. Great value for the price we paid. Easy walking distance to everything of interest.

We got there about 20.30pm. The room was ready for us but when I checked at the bathroom, all the bottles of shampoo were used and left in the room by no prepared the new one for us. And when we went to bed. We found some hair and bookers on the sheet. They didn't bother to change us a new sheet before we check in. The last thing. we were told to pay cash(because it's a"special price"!) otherwise, they had to charge us more.

First time in Florence. Hotel was situated in an excellent location one block from the Duomo. We took pictures of it from our room. Breakfast excellent as far as European continental breakfasts are concerned. I'd be disappointed if we can't stay in the same place for our next trip. One negative I found is that there were not any shelves in the shower for soap or shampoo. Also very tight shower as European showers are many times.

location being 100 metres from Duomo excellent, also convenient for walking to other places of interest/restaurants etc. and only 12 minutes walk from rail station. room on small side but totally adequate very quiet except for Campanile bell tower that gives a wake up call at 7.00 a.m. but did not chime through the night so we found it acceptable. not much choise at breakfast but again adequate (may have been restricted because only a few guests staying in earlyFeb). overall excellent value at 90 euros per night

We had a pleasant stay here. Right near the Duomo and everything is a short walk away. We had dealings with several employees and most were curtious. We had flight problems and called to notify our late arrival, with some kajooling the manager agreed to cover our lost night FOC. Would stay here again. Breakfast was OK and was also FOC but you have to be in there early
