The hotel is in a GREAT location, it is steps from Piazza del Doumo and walking distance from the Historic City Center (Piazza Segnoria, Uffizzi, Ponte Veccio) and the Train Station. We loved the location!! The service was good but future guests need to know the hotel is VERY simple, breakfast is very plain. The biggest complaint we have was that they seem to turn off the AC in the middle of the night and we woke up a couple of times sweating. Also they turn the AC off at around 8:30 am so it is hot/humid while you are getting ready/dressed. If they address this I would rate them higher.

Found the rooms smallish and too hot. We were unable to get the rooms to cool down sufficiently. The telephone in our room was broken and even through repeated requests it was not repaired. Breakfast was good but seating a little cramped. Location was fantastic which helps to overlook some of the hotels discrepancies.

Given that Florence hotels are not cheap, this is fine for the price. Room rather small - also usual for this price. Continental breakfast perfectly adequate. internet access point wasn't working - a problem for me as my wi-fi was non-operational.

This hotel has a great location. Staff were great, friendly and informative. Our room was very clean with a very big bathroom. The water pressure was good but you had to wait for hot water for couple minutes. Breakfast was good (except the coffee!). The room was extremely quiet given the location and the closeness to the Duome. I would go back to this hotel.

The staff was very friendly and helpful as mentioned on many reviews. However the room did have a musty smell, which could have been attributed to the poorly working air conditioner. When we reported that it was not working very well they said they had to flip a switch and when this didn't work they sent the owner up to the room who said it was working fine. Not really. The location was excellent~ breakfast plain~courtyard a bonus for the size and location of the hotel so overall for the money a good choice.

The hotel is in a great location only 1 minute's walk from the Duomo(main square). You have to go up to the 1st floor to get to reception, via a very small elevator (a tight squeeze for 2 people with luggage). We were nicely greeted by Reception & they were pro-active in advising us of tourist attractions in Florence. Breakfast was included & very good with nice, friendly service. You had to pay for wi-fi internet & it didn't work in our room on the 3rd floor. Reception suggested that a technician would need to look at the problem but nothing was done to rectify this during our stay. We had to either go into our floor's corridor or reception area for it to work. The room's bathroom was very large & comfortable however the water pressure in the shower was poor & the water temperature not very hot. There was a broken window stuck with tape in the bathroom. Although we enjoyed our stay, we wouldn't go back to this hotel for the price that we paid & the small but several faults mentioned above.

This hotel is all about the location. So close to the Duomo you could reach out and touch it. As for the hotel itself, it is outdated in its decor and could use some updating. Staff were fine to deal with. As for cleaning of rooms, beds were always made, but we noticed used glasses, etc were not replaced with clean ones... This made us wonder about how clean it really is..

Great location a stone's throw from Piazza del Duomo and handy for the Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio. The hotel has a small but pleasant reception area and our room was well appointed with a great shower! Hotel layout is somehwat quirky, as with many family-run Italian hotels. Breakfast was buffet-style and very good - though the coffee from the self-service machine could be drastically improved. Staff were friendly and always very helpful, recommending some really good places to eat. We had a delightful time in Florence and the quality of service at the hotel made a huge difference.

I thought the Hotel De Lanzi was fantastic value for the price. It is incredibly central to everything in the heart of Florence and because of that, noise could be a problem for older couples or couples with small children. But if noise is not an issue, and let's face it, if you want to stay in the heart of a city, noise will always be there, this is a great place. Rooms are a good size and very clean. The breakfast was more than adequate for Italy and the staff were incredibly helpful. I would definitely return.

We would definitely stay at the DeLanzi again. It is centrally located one short block from the Duomo and walking distance to the Accademia, and the Uffizi, with many fine restaurants close by. The staff is extremely helpful and the hotel is clean and comfortable. I can't think of anything that could have been improved.

Have stayed here on more than one occasion over the last 5 years and the hotel has always stayed at the same level of service, cleanliness and facility. Location is great for the price. It doesn't pretend to be a 5* hotel it is quite simple but clean and staff very helpful I think it hard to better so centrlly for the money and to open the window and see the duomo right there from the room I had was total value for money.

The best thing about this hotel is definitely the location. It's adjacent to the Duomo and close to the roads that hide some of Florence's best dining attractions. This does mean that you can hear the bells of the Duomo but does ad to the character of the hotel. A nice gelateria sits opposite the hotel entry. If you have a significant amount of luggage or intend on shopping alot in Florence, perhaps you will rethink on the size and ease of access to the lift in the hotel. Further to this the breakfast really isn't worth paying for. This was by far the worst hotel breakfast that we endured in our 2 month Europe trip. Internet access wasn't entirely reliable as the cards we paid for often stopped working - think that this was more of an issue with some of the hotel staff being somewhat less skilled in the operation of modems than others but it was manageable to get some access and utilise wifi when it was working. The rooms had nice views and there is a nice courtyard in which you can sit, however the streets of Florence are so beautiful you don't have much time for that. The hotel was reasonably priced for the time we went and the amenities in the room but we would've preferred paying less and not getting breakfast given there was nothing remotely appetising not even the fruit was edible.

Exceptionally well positioned hotel for all the sights in Florence which is exactly what you need. Clean rooms. Friendly staff. Good functional hotel. This hotel is well situated for the cathedral and other attractions within the city. It is quietly located yet within easy reach of the centre and approximately 20 minutes from the railway station. A good breakfast is provided and food is replenished promptly as it is taken form the buffet we obtained an offer rate of stay four and pay for three nights. I was asked to settle the bill in cash but did not face any problems when I explained I could not do this totally.

Although it took us a little while to walk from the train station to the hotel, it all was well worth it. (We actually found a shorter way to go back to the train station for our departure). I will never forget our feeling of happiness when we opened the windows in our room to see what was around and we saw the cathedral tower and duomo to be a block away! Yes, we were 1 short block away from the Duomo (no church bells at night, they go on at 7 a.m.). The hotel was nice, travelers who stayed there were nice and courteous, and the hotel staff was very friendly. Everything is located within walking distance. Clientele consisted of vacationers and business people. Should we return to Florence again we will definitely stay at Hotel De Lanzi.

An extremely average hotel that could do with some investment. However the location is ideal and considering accommodation is so expensive in Florence it's not a bad choice, once your not too fussy about your room. It was clean but just old i.e. mildew in shower etc

This hotel is just what we wanted. Close and centrally located. Quiet and spacious rooms. We stayed only one night and thought all was good. The only thing I would change is in the directions to get to the hotel on foot, give a street to follow or directions instead of just saying it is a 10 minute walk from the train station. With such a large intersection it took walking a block and backtracking to know if we were going in the right direction.

Overall it was a great experience, though there were three details that were slightly irritating. First, we did not realize that the proximity to the Duomo meant that we would hear the bell ringing hourly (not at night thankfully) quite loudly in our room. Second, our windows looked out onto the hotel courtyard, which would not have been a problem, had we not been on the same level as the courtyard. Third, the buffet only had machine dispensed drinks, the only place in Italy where we encountered this. Overall, I would recommend this place, but know what you are getting and dont plan on sleeping in.

Major advantage of the hotel is its location - right in the center by the Dome; our room windows were facing the Dome. It was marvelous and in any case outweighed all shortages. It was a challenge to reach the hotel by car. A map, a taxi driver help, a couple of circles around the Center - finally, we have driven throuh the pedestrian area to get to the hotel - it was OK for Firenze. The garage cost EUR 25 per day though; in all other places of stay in Italy I managed to park for free. The price was quite reasonable since I got a special rate.

Well the place was in exellent location, easy to find half mile from the train station, the brekfast wasn't that good, the problem was not with the hotel but with venere, because I did try to cancel one night and the hotel said they couldn't because I had booked with venere, so I have to have that done with venre, so when i did try to cancel with venere I only was able if i cancel the four nights, so the front dask didn't do anything to help me with that, even being three days before I arrive to Milan. The location was the best and I would recomend anyone to stay there.

The hotel is located in a rather quiet area (for Florence, this is quite seldom). Expect the Dome bells to ring a 7 and the cleaning in the street to start arround 7 in the morning. The rooms are nice. The breakfast is not. The owners and personnel would gain smiling to their customer (we are not in a cemetery). Prices are rather high for the overall offer. S.R.

Excellent location... poor information provided, but good choice for staying in Florence. Watch out about paying with credit card... they almost didn't accept it.

Overall, I can give this hotel a very good recommendation. I was so thrilled to get to the room and see that it had a proper, decent-sized bath - wonderful! The room was well proportioned too. The air-conditioning was excellent and that was very important. One great blight on our stay in Italy was the taxi strike and I was disappointed that the hotel couldn't offer an alternative form of transport to the station. I had injured my back moving house just before we arrived in Italy and it was truly miserable having to drag our suitcases from the station to the hotel and back again (in very hot weather) a few days later. Another little moan is that the breakfast rolls were as hard as rock - quite inedible. The rest of the breakfast was all right - but rather basic. It could very easily be improved which would be worth it. The guests would appreciate it.

What a delight, having booked my room on-line while in Italy, to find the hotel right next to the Douma. The room was spacious, the bed and bath clean, the breakfast has a long way to go, especially with the coffee. Good thing we were right in the heart of Frienze. Only one surprise, and thank goodness the staff informed us upon check-in. And that was "because of the special rate, we had to pay in Euro's (cash) when we checked out. I was planning on using my credit card. It was only a minor hiccup. The Hotel is absolutley perfect for those aggresive museum tourists, which are all within a comfortable walking distance from this gorgeous Hotel. Ciao, Yvonne Smith

The room was a bit small, but what it lacked in size it made up for in location - about a block from the Duomo! The shower was a bit bizzarre, as it had no curtain and no wall - it was just a faucet in between the toilet and the sink! VERY weird showering "out in the open" there. Breakfast was very good every morning. The elevator was extremely tiny...just big enough for 2 people with bags! But it worked. When we checked out, the staff seemed to be in a rush to get us out, and they sprang the "cash only" policy on us. But I knew this was coming because of others' comments on Venere.com, so thank you all! But be forewarned. Overall, it was an OK place - I have nothing horrible to say about it and would probably recommend it and/or stay there again. Just bring cash - ha!!

Bad experience - do not stay here. Incrediby incompetent staff. The Air Conditioning is controlled by the front desk, yet they DENY it. The A/C would turn off in the middle of the night, every night. When we complained, the staff always acted like they didn't know why that happened. One time, I stayed in the lobby to watch the staff person, and I saw him go hit a switch to turn on our A/C. The shower had no shower curtain. The toilet flushed about half the time. I saw their guest log, and almost every person was forced to pay in cash. What kind of 3-star place requires guests to pay in cash? I requested some of our money back, since the A/C didn't work half of the time, and the front desk guy acted like he was just a helpless worker. If you have to pay more to stay somewhere else, it willbe worth it.

The room was very quiet and cozy. The breakfast was very simple and plain, but is took away the hunger pains. The only disappointing thing about the hotel was the customer service. They were not the friendliest people and only a couple of staff members spoke english. However, based on the location and cleanliness of the room, we would stay here again!

This hotel is in a perfect location, walking distance to all attractions and some wonderful piazzas. The room was a little dark, but very clean and the bathroom was quite large and modern. Would definately recommend to others, especially for the price which was very reasonable. Breakfast was great too, everything was fresh. Small note, they told us when we checked in that the "special" price was for cash only, no credit cards which was slightly annoying since they didn't tell us when we booked. Would still recommend though.

This hotel is in a great location - less than a block away from the Duomo. The hotel is decent but don't use the phones!!! I called the USA using the so called "special" phone rates and they charged my credit card for about $25 per minute! Other than that, the bathroom was big and the rooms were clean.

An ideal hotel and perfect location at a very good price, couldn't fault the hotel on anything, the room was a good size and immaculate, air conditioning excellent and breakfast sufficient. Re the mentions of paying by credit card from previous reviewers, we were asked if paying by cash would be a problem when we arrived so if we had been intending to pay by credit card we would have had plenty warning to get cash instead.

The staff in this hotel where really friendly. There was a night receptionist who would keep you talking for hours if you where to let him, (really nice bloke)and it was right next to the duomo so all the centre attractions where just mins away in each direction. It's lovely and I now know why all the ex-pats head here.

Nice small hotel and room, especially considering the price. Could not get a better loacation in Florence for the things we were interested in seeing. Clean and quiet. Not much character but still nice.

The hotel was very nice and the location is especially appealing--right outside your door is the Duomo! Service was good--especially from Beneto who appeared each day in early morning to afternoon. He was very helpful and the hotel made reservations for popular museums. Breakfast was quite adequate and there was plenty to eat. An excellent place to stay with good prices--just remember to have cash as they do not take credit cards for a room booked through the internet (according to the "stern looking" sister that assists in managing the hotel. Would stay there again when in Florence.

Air Conditioning problem. Rooms are not very spacious and equipped. No choice of TV Channels. Breakfast timing and content is not good at all. The staff is welcoming and nice.

I didn't want to have to spend two nights in Florence but the location of De Lanza make the stays very enjoyable. We walked to all the areas because the hotel is centrally located. Room was very large and near the elevator which you could not hear. From our window you could see the tower of the church through the alley way. I didn't notice the bells from the church. Breakfast had a nice selections. All of the staff very helpful. Because we had been traveling already for 3 weeks a self service laundry mat wasn't that far to walk with the clothes in our suitcase. In fact it was kind of fun. While clothes were drying ate near by.

Overall, the hotel was really nice and just as we expected. The only objection is that you have to haul your own luggage around, either up steep steps or in a tiny elevator. The location is fabulous and the staff are courteous, if not always competent in guiding you around the city. The rooms are a decent size and the bathroom was huge. And, the air conditioning actually worked! We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to others.

Good location, very hard to find. I didn't like giving our car to someone in hopes that he would return it the next day. (It came back with a scratch).

This hotel has great location. It is a 3-star hotel, but right next to Duomo and all attractions in old Florence. I was pleasantly surprised. It is very clean. Staff was very nice and helpful.

The hotel is very well located if you want to walk around the city centre. Our room faced another building 2m away (something we didn't enjoy much) and the windows needed to be replaced . Nice breakfast and helpfull staff. No locker room for the luggage that stays in reception in case you need it. Here you get what expect from a 3* hotel.

Superb location, clean and adequate for a one-night stay. However my single room was tiny and I was asked to pay in cash, although they did reluctantly accept a credit card. Overall good value at 65 euro.

Very helpful staff. The breakfast wasn't as good as some of the other places we stay on our trip. If your driving,be aware there is a hefty charge to park your car overnite. Also cars must be registered by the hotel to avoid a fine by the police.

Overall speaking, it's good .. good location / quiet / rich breakfast.. my room is small and no outside view .. it's a pity for this stay .. but, concerning the other advantages, I will stay in this hotel if I come back again.

When we first arrived at Hotel DeLanzi, we were told that since we were staying for 4 nights, a change had to be made (GULP!!!) Imagine our surprise when we were taken to their newly acquired hotel (Bigallo), less than a block away, which had rates 2 to 3 times higher than what we had reserved. The reservation rate was honored, however. When we looked out of the window in the lobby, we were looking at the Duomo!!

Rooms were OK. A strong point here is the breakfast. The breakfast room is pleasant, and there is some variety of foods available. The location is central, an easy walk from the train station and right by the Duomo.

The best thing about the Da Lanzi hotel was by far its location. It is right next to the Duomo, and is surrounded by great shops, restaurants etc. The breakfast is included in the price - although it is quite average and there wasn't much choice. Apart from that, we would definitely recommend the Da Lanzi to anyone visiting Florence.

Hotel de Lanzi lived up to its previous recommendations, nothing was too much trouble. We would stay here again next time we visit Florence.
