Seven weeks & 12 lots of accommodation! The David and its staff were the best. It was like visiting old friends, the welcome was so warm. So many of the things which cost extra elsewhere were free at the David. Definitely the nicest staff of anywhere we stayed. 15 minutes easy walk from Ponte Veccia & it has an elevator too!

Very happy with this hotel - having stayed in a few in italy recently this was my favourite. Very helpful & friendly staff, room large and clean. just a bit far from the train station (taxi cost 15 euro) but easy walk to sante crocche and nice walk into the centre. Only slight disappointment was the breakfast - but italy is not renowned for breakfasts anyway! Good high speed internet connection too. Highly recommended.

This is a wonderful hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful in every way possible. The hotel is a bit off the beaten path, but it is a short 20 min walk to most of the tourist areas or you can take a bus located right outside the hotel. They offer free things: free international calls (10 min limit), free computer/internet access, free full minibar, free breakfast, and a free happy hour in the evening. It is good for families and couples. The rooms are spacious (especially for Americans), air conditioned, and clean.

We were greeted by the kindest, most welcoming and helpful young woman who almost wouldn't stop telling us about all the "extras" that came with our room: free calls back to the states, free internet, free stocked mini-bar in the room, free parking, free happy hour every evening (including wine and snacks), free buffet breakfast every morning (with several delicious homemade items that changed every day). We would have loved Hotel David with zero extras, but it was those extra efforts that really made us feel exceptionally valued as guests. The hotel is located in a very charming neighborhood close to the city but away from the intensity of the city. In fact, we took one of the most postcard-perfect pictures from the hotel side of the river on our first morning out—the city reflected on the Arno—just a short walk from our door (that photo will definitely go into a frame). Hotel David is on a main bus line, for those days you don't feel like the beautiful walk along the river, and one of our favorite casual restaurants, Affe' di Bacco, is just a few blocks away (get ready for the best pizza of your life). Our particular room was not huge, but to be honest we weren't in it much, and when we were in it we were very comfortable (and the shower was GREAT). We will definitely go back to Hotel David on our next visit to Florence.

First the good points: The hotel is a nice old building, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, providing drinks for the guests in the evening is a nice gesture, the lounge area is very comfortable and lots of reading material is provided; it feel very 'family'.My first room was very spacious, the bed comfortable, the bathroom adequate. However: The hotel was described as being "in a quiet treelined street", which strictly speaking could be said to be true. However it is actually within yards of an extremely busy intersection where several streets converge. And the traffic noise is not only intrusive (I could hear it in my room situated at the back of the hotel)but it goes on until the early hours of the morning. The first room I was given had a penetrating smell as though someone had been smoking in it and they had tried to cover it up with some kind of spray. When I complained the management kindly offered another room but not until the following day as they were full thatnight. Breakfast: I would have preferred more variety of fruit on offer, more choice of bread, not just white rolls, fresh coffe rather than a thermos jug. I do not eat a cooked breakfast but the sight of a dish with greasy bacon and a pile of undercooked fried eggs being kept warm over a flame looked rather unappetising. The breakfast room itself is cramped and overcrowded. Generally: I think the hotel is a charming building and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. It could be improved by trying to deal with the traffic issues maybe by double glazing the windows. They need to address the problem of people smoking in non smoking rooms, and they need to have a re-think of the kind of breakfast they provide.

Hotel David was our favorite stay during our two week Italy trip. It was an outstanding value for the high quality of the hotel, competency and helpfulness of the staff, and the best breakfast of all our stays. Extras included wireless internet access, and late afternoon wine and snacks.

A pleasant and spacious hotel, with comfortable public areas and rooms. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The little extras such as a free minibar of soft drinks and snacks, wireless internet and free 10 minute phone call per day are good. The location is not totally ideal being a 20 minute walk along busy roads to the city centre, but there is a bus stop with frequent cheap services just outside.

Nice location about 15 min walk from Santa Croce. Easily reached with car, parking space (smallish) within the courtyard. Very friendly and helpful staff. Wine and stuzzichini were offered in the evening in the nicely decorated stylish lobby. We had a nice large twin room above the entrance. Bathroom was on the small side but spotless. More than adequate breakfast buffet with fresh pastries and cakes. Wi-Fi with no extra cost as an additional bonus. Highly recommended for a relaxing stay in Firenze!

My friend and I both thoroughly appreciated our stay at the hotel David. The staff was so welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was yummy, the room was a nice place to pause in the afternoons, and it was so easy to get where we wanted to get etc. I'd send any of my friends to stay at this hotel. Stayed at this hotel on Nov 17-18. What a charming little hotel, indeed. Extremely friendly staff … they really make you feel welcome and try to help you out as much as they can. Excellent complimentary wi-fi. They have even some complimentary evening drinks/refreshment for guests. Since we checked in quite late, we are not in position to opine about that service. Otherwise, tastefully furnished rooms and stylish lounge/lobby. It is actually pity that such a nice hotel doesn’t have breakfast of appropriate standard. Breakfast really spoils its image, very unnecessarily. It is strange that the extraordinary care owners take in treating their guests is lacking when it comes to breakfast. With a little bit efforts, breakfast can be improved, taking the overall impression of this hotel even higher.

Our stay at the Hotel David can be summed up in one word. Superb! Gabriel the manager was unbelievably helpful, welcoming and knowledgeable. The photos on line do NOT do this place justice. The happy hour was delicious, and much more than expected. A light supper could be made out of what was offered each night. The restaurant suggestion a very short 10 minute walk away, was perfect and the location was exactly what we wanted. Away from the hustle and noise of the historic city center and in a quiet neighborhood. We would only stay at the Hotel David if ever again in Florence and you should too!

From the moment we arrived at Hotel David, the staff were extremely helpful, including offering suggestions for sightseeing, making reservations to tourist attractions and general information about Florence. The bedroom was large, well furnished and located towards the back so there was no traffic noise. The bathroom was also large, clean and modern. Hotel David is located across the river near Ponte S Niccolo, but bus routes in the adjacent streets provide easy access to the museums and other attractions, however it is also a short, pleasant walk along the river. A good starting point from Hotel David for exploring Florence is a 15 to 20 min walk up the nearby hill to the Piazzale Michelangelo which offers panoramic views over the river and Florence. Hotel David was a good experience and we would certainly stay there again.

The best hotel we stayed at during our 5 week trip to Paris, Italy, London & Dubai. Our girls (6 & 11)and our friends also loved it. It felt like a home away from home. The reception staff freely offered info & advice (some other places we stayed was like pulling teeth to get info) the breakfast and happy hour staff were quietly efficient and provided homey and more than adequate food. The Happy Hours were excellent and gave us the opportunity to meet other fellow travellers and share stories and tips. A digital photo frame is available to slip your camera card into so that you can see a slide show of your photos. Free internet was available and we were also allowed to make a 10 minute call to anywhere in the world. Only drawback was that our room on the ground floor was noisy in the mornings as breakfast was being prepared and served. We could hear every footstep made by every person walking above us. However, if you are an early riser, this shouldn't be a problem.

My wife and I stayed 2 night at David and it was signature class of service provided. Hotel is not located in the centre of town, but it's walking distance. We loved Hotel David and will stay here again when we return to Florence. It was beautiful, staff was friendly, cozy public areas, great food and wine during happy hour, comfy bed in room, and in a quieter area of Florence. It isn't too far to walk to the main attractions, about 25 minutes. We really felt at home here and loved all the little touches that the staff do and that are available. Highly recommended!

This is the best hotel we stayed at in our 3 week vacation! It is absolutely lovely, even though it is situated on a very busy intersection - the wonders of double glazing make the front rooms very quiet. The hotel is just like a home away from home, with antique filled reception rooms, and a generous host who provides a 'happy hour' each evening with wine, soft drinks and a selection of local 'nibblies' that is almost a meal in itself - a real example of Italian hospitality which is sadly lacking in other places. Whilst the little garden is a bit noisy from traffic (and where in an Italian city can you excape traffic noise?) the hedges and little pavilion give a sense of seclusion to happy guests who can exchange their travellers tales over a glass (or two) of local wine. If ever we return to Florence, we will stay at this hotel - buses to city centre or Ponte Vecchio at the door, a 'green' outlook (rare in Florence unless you pay a fortune for a room) and free parking in the courtyard. Even the breakfast is exceptional, with freshly cooked offerings as well as the continental staples. Truly a delight.

We were so pleasantly suprised about the Happy Hour , which was excellent, the free 10 min. international call daily and internet use. WOW. My wife and I stayed at Hotel David for five days in May, 2008. We were graciously greated by Sabrina before we even reached the door to the hotel lobby. Our room was very clean and the bathroom was modern with consistent hot water for showers (much appreciated). The location is great, as it is away from the crowded centre town areas. We walked throughtout our stay in Florence, as the views are magnificent, and the Ponte Vecchio is only a leisurely 15-20 minutes walk away. We had great diners at the trattorias Mama Gina and Camillo's which are close to the Ponte Vecchio. Don't forget to partake in the late afternoon wine and munchies at the hotel and the breakfast was plentiful. We had a great time in Florence and would recommend the Hotel David for its location and friendly staff.

On our trip back home, Hotel David was an oasis of luxury and comfort after a 2 weeks "heavy" bike-touring at the mountains and coasts of Corsica.Luxurious room (very spacious!),traditional quality furniture, very polite staff, clean and with a secure private parking for our motorcycle.Easy road access too.Rich breakfast but on the sweet side (not continental).Very reasonable price for the season (115e double room).City center in a walking distance (25min) aswell as the fabulus Monte alle Croce. Don't miss the nearby superb pizzeria "Gattabuia". Overall a great, bikers friendly, hotel. Highly recommended.

Greece, Jul 2008
The hotel's location was ideal for us, as it was far enough from the city center to provide free parking space for our large car and was also quite enough, while at the same time the city center was very easily accessible via public transportation (Bus D, practically right outside the hotel, cheap, tickets were available at the hotel(!) very frequent and environmentally friendly - only draw-back that it stops running at 21:00). The hotel provided various extras which were included in the price but we were not aware of beforehand - a pleasant surprise upon arrival! Most pleasant and useful were the early evening happy hours, which included snacks and drinks - very handly when you have small children who are in constant need of a snack and drink. Breakfast was relatively basic but good (especially the freshly-made omelettes/pies), however there was only filter coffee available, no espresso/capuccino.

My family of 4 stayed in the first floor family suite and it was lovely in appearance and comfort except for a lack of ventilation (no breeze, fan or air conditioning). The facilities and garden were very nice, breakfast excellent, the staff friendly and helpful, and the services provided a lot of comfort including computer use and 10 minutes daily of free international phone calls. It was an easy walk into the main part of the city. Excellent value and we would all stay here again.

Having been to this wonderful city before, and to this hotel, I chose it again as the place to celebrate my 50th birthday. I was not disappointed. Despite all on-line weather forecasts predicting heavy rain and thunderstorms, all we got for 4 days was blue sky and blazing sunshine. Fabulous food, wonderful atmosphere, and an out-of-town hotel to retreat to when things got a bit too much. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, and generously gave us a bottle of wine to share on our balcony on my birthday. This hotel is quite a walk from the centre of Florence, albeit a pleasant walk alongside the river, but you could use public transport if this is a problem. Breakfast was more than adequate with cereals, bread, croissants, cold meats and cheese, fruit and yoghurt, as well as tea and coffee for that vital, early morning buzz. A week to be remembered, and hopefully to be repeated too.

We are a couple with 2 children age 10 and 14. The room was really big and charming. We immidiately felt at home in the hotel, both due to the nice common areas and the helpful and friendly staff. The city centre is in walking distance for sight-seeing, we made a nice tour along the river. There are several restaurants in a nice area close to the hotel. If you prefer to go to the city centre for dining, we would recommend to go by taxi or bus (walking would take about 20min, or more if you are going to the other side). We would definitely come back to this hotel next time, as you get more than you pay for.

The David was a peaceful oasis in Florence. I stayed in a very small part of a triple but was very cozy and satisfied. My friend took the larger room which was lovely. The breakfast was very good but nothing hot except the coffee. We ate at 2 good local restaurants in the evening and there's a good pasticceria across the street. The staff couldn't have been nicer let us leave our bags there both before checking in and after. For those who want to stay out of the busiest tourist areas this is great. An easy walk or short bus ride to Ponte Vecchio and the center of the city. The cab stand is across the pathway.

My wife and I made our first stop in Italy in Florence and the Hotel David. It ended up being the best, and least expensive, of all of the hotels in which we stayed! The rooms were quaint, with ample space for a couple with lots of baggage. The staff were very pleasant and helpful with all things. The common area was gorgeous, with beautiful decor. The only thing that didn't give the hotel a perfect 10 rating was that it wasn't in the heart of Florence. If you don't mind a 15-20 min. walk, though, you can get pretty much anywhere you want to. Regardless of where you decide to stay in Florence...if you are a wine lover, make sure to get in touch with Rebecca with tuscan-wine-tours.com to schedule a day of tastings and vineyard visits while you're there. It was one of the best experiences EVER. 10 out of 10 ratings all the way around for Rebecca. Fantastic city, fantastic hotel, fantastic tuscan tour...go to Florence, stay at the David, tour with Rebecca, and thank me later for the recommendations!

The staff was wonderful. We especially enjoyed meeting the other people staying at the hotel. Most people came down stairs for a glass of wine served in the hotel living room at 6:30. Very nice hotel. Decent sized, clean room and friendly desk staff. Good lounge area with an open fire (stayed 2 nights in November 07). Good breakfast. Level walk of approx 1 mile to the city centre. Taxi back from the Ponte Vecchio costs just under 9 euros in the evening. The hotel recommended an Osteria, the Chiagale Blanc (or similar!) which was excellent for food. The hotel car park is a bit of a squeeze. Overall we were very pleased.

Stay here! We stayed at 5 hotels (all for about the same price) during our recent trip to Italy and the David was clearly the best. The room was large and clean and nicely appointed. The staff was extremelly friendly and helpful. The breakfast had good variety and was served in a very nice room. Hotel David is a lovely family run hotel in a peaceful area of Florence which is only a short bus ride to the city centre. We would definitely stay here again and we'll recommend it to friends ... but we will make sure they know about it's unique qualities too: To get in to the heart of Florence is a bit of a walk but with a bus pass (which can be purchased at the hotel) you can hop a bus (runs about every half hour & boards just across the street from the hotel)and be at the Ponte Vicheo in minutes. Think of the bus ride as the ultimate tourist experience (100 times better than a tour bus) as this is the way the Florentine's travel to work, to shop, to school ... we thought it was great but you have to really want to experience a place, not just see the sites to enjoy this kind of tourism. If you're just here for the sites, stay in the center city and just see other tourists and the occasional shopkeeper.

We are a family of 4 (children aged 14 and 11) and our room had 2 single beds and 1 double and we stayed for 4 nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful, a great breakfast is provided and free internet as well as evening drinks. The hotel is a little out of the centre of town but the buses are frequent and we usually took the bus in the morning but walked home. The hotel even sells the bus tickets. Found the D bus was the best option when leaving with luggage as it was usually empty whereas the 23 was always fairly full. This was our best value hotel on this trip.

We spent three nights at this hotel, and would highly recommend it. The room was by far the largest room we've seen in an Italian hotel. The bathroom was huge by any other standard, with a full sized tub - very nice! The room was very clean, and generally quite quiet. The parking situation is a little touch and go, as there are only a few spaces and they have to shuffle cars around. If you get there early in the afternoon, you'll be parked in. But they keep all the keys and take care of it. That's the only negative thing I could say about the place. It was very nice, and is certainly a place we would return to. The price is the absolute clincher - it can NOT be beat.

The David was an excellent small hotel and any criticism is minor compared with our satisfaction of making a very good choice. The minor issues were it is a bit of a walk to the city centre, pleasant enough when you are fresh and the weather is good. The line 'B' bus is always an alternative. Also the road noise can be disturbing if you wish to have the window open but the double glazing provides an excellent sound barrier.

I stay 3 days in Florence with my family. My spouse and my two children (9 and 12 years old) found this hotel very good. The breakfast is excelent (italian specialites are also offered as well as capucinos or ristrettos). Is better to have your dinner in the down town because there are not many restaurants in this area. I wish you a nice stay in Florence !

Excellent hotel - staff were very welcoming, helpful and efficient. The hotel was close enough to the centre whilst being quiet. It was a 5 minute bus ride to the Pnte Vecchio bridge. Room was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was good. recommend you have a meal at Trattoia Gigi just down the road.

Hotel David was a comfortable home away from home. Our family enjoyed our stay tremendously. I recommend this hotel highly. We felt like royalty. The only tiny complaint was that the chairs in the breakfast room were right above our room, so when guests were eating and drug their chairs across the floor, it served as an alarm clock. David provided lovely breakfasts with a variety of choices. They also provided a happy hour with wine and snacks. There was a plethora of literature regarding Florence, and a laundry mat just down the street. The property was across from the river and a public park. It is quite a walk from the main sites in Florence, but walking is part of the Italian experience while site seeing. A public bus stops on David's corner. Internet service was available too. There was a fabulous authentic restaurant around the corner. Overall, our experience at David was wonderful.

This was one of the best hotels we stayed in during our recent trip to Italy. The room was wonderful and the breakfast plentiful. The owner was full of information about tours and sites. He was willing to make the reservations for our visits to the museums and tour of Tuscany. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I plan to return the next time I am in Florence.

Very nice Hotel (old Palazzo) with a warm welcome and good recommendations for dinner! It is only a 20 minutes walk to Ponte Vecchio or the Uffici Gallery.

Our group of 7 arrived at the David and were quickly and warmly welcomed. Even though we were there before 11:00, they had one of our rooms available to us to store luggage and freshen up so that we could quickly begin our day in Florence. Although the hotel is a 15 min walk from the busy part of Florence, we found it a relief and a quick and easy bus ride to the train station or the Duomo. The staff was warm and helpful and my 8-year-old claimss that they made the best hot chocolate. I would definately stay there again.

The Hotel David is a very attractive and reasonably-priced property. It is located on the "other" side of the river from the Duomo, but is about a mile walk from the Ponte Vecchio bridge and about a 30-40 minute walk to Santa Maria Novella station. If you can figure out the Florence bus routes (we had issues) it's also readily reachable on the 23 or D buses. The room was spacious (by European standards) and well appointed, with very comfortable shower and toilet facilities; the hotel served a very substantial breakfast; and there is a lift to the upper floors. There was also a mini-bar in the room, with items available at a price. It's a very professional operation, and everyone spoke excellent English. There is free Internet access. The front desk was very helpful; we required assistance calling a cab to get to the airport for a very early flight, and the front desk gave us an early wakeup call and arranged the cab. Would strongly recommend the Hotel David to anyone seeking lodging in Florence.

Hotel David was a lovely stay for my family which includes my husband & two young adult children. Our quad was huge with a large window and even a tiny walkout ledge with a windowed door. The beds were all comfortable and the bathroom was clean and large. The free parking and wireless were bonuses. The friendly staff on each shift were knowledgeable about the area and were fluent in English, which was an unexpected but helpful surprise. The hotel living room filled with books and magazines, front and side patios with chairs and tables, lush garden, and the high wall and rod iron fencing around the exterior of the property made you feel like you were staying in a country estate even though you were very near the city center (20 minute walk.) This was a perfect hotel experience for our family. Walk along the river into the center of town, take in the old Basilica & outdoor statues, visit the Uffizi Museum, and the Accademia Museum (for the David sculpture and others.) Every restaurant we tried was terrific. Attractive shops and goods everywhere you turn.

My husband and I thought this was a real gem. First, the ladies behind the desk are incredibly helpful. They answered many of our questions, spoke perfect english, and really made us feel comfortable. The hotel was charming. They provided umbrellas on rainy days, a wonderful breakfast, and free internet access in the lobby which came in handy! The hotel is about 20 minutes walking from Ponte Vecchio. I thought it was great to be away from the chaos of the middle of Florence. If you are taking a bus from the Train station, take the one that goes past Pza. Michelangelo(12 or 13, I can't rember exactly). You can get out there and get a beautiful view of Florence. The hotel is only a few stops past there (maybe 3) and is right next to the bus stop. The rooms were clean, warm. The bathroom door was a little strange but definitely okay. Oh and if you are looking for some local food to take back to your room, there is a little deli outside of the Bus 23 around the corner from the hotel. Good food!If my husband and I ever get a chance to go back to Florence, we really would stay there again. Also, I agree with all the other pleasant comments made on this hotel from other past guests.

The accommodations were great...the staff was pleasant and welcoming. The location was perfect for either a stroll into downtown or a short bus ride. The morning breakfast was excellent, and the happy hour, a pleasant surprise. It gave the guests a chance to mingle and compare vacation do's and don'ts. The internet was free, a great value. Highly recommend!!

Fantastico - splendido - magnifico hotel! Nice staff, excellent location! I can highly recommend it and I'd definitely stay here again the next time I go to Florence. But make sure to book a few months in advance if you'd like to have an even more excellent price...!

We loved this hotel! It was super... the staff were kind and helpful and the unexpected surprise of the evening drinks and nibbles was lovely. We liked the style of the place: the furniture and the peacefulness, the kind helpful staff, the towels changed daily and good quality shampoo etc provided. It felt safe and relaxing. The breakfast was excellent and plentiful, the garden was a delight...but watch for the mosquitos(!) The public transport is easy, frequent and the pasticceria nearby does the best pasta/rice etc to take-out, becuase the hotel does not do evening meals: no problems with this place two minutes away! Enjoy! We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and (1) WILL return and (2) Recommend it to others. Thanks you so much!

The Daivid was one of several hotels we stayed at in Europe. It was our favorite. The lobby and common areas are filled with antique furniture ansd spacious. They offer snacks in the evening with juice and wine. It has a nice outside patio, the breakfast room is very quaint. Our room had lace on the sheets, a bathroom with glass windowed door, a tub and shower, tile and wood floors. Although it on a busy street our room, which faced the street was quiet and roomy. The staff was very friendly and helpfu. We parked our car in the diveway area and left it. We walked everywhere, bus stops were on the corner. Finding the david was a little tricky but arrived easily once we got close. We would highly reccommend the David to all. A very plesant stay in a unique hotel.

David Hotel was excellent! Room prices are great for such a nice hotel. Our quad room was huge and had a nice balcony and bathroom. There was also an elevator in the hotel which was excellent for our heavy luggage. The lounge area in the hotel is big with Florence guidebooks as well as newspapers and magazines in English. Everyday there was a table set up in the lounge with free hors d'oeuvres, wine, and orange juice. Breakfast was served from 7:30-10 and had yogurt, cheese, meat, croissants, rolls, cakes, jams, cereals, juice, tea, coffee, and freshly made cappuccinos and espressos. The hotel was a little bit out of the way - about a 15 minute walk, or you could take the bus or a taxi (6 Euros to the centre)

A great place to stay! I and my three children had a quadruple room, and this was the only time during our travel in Italy that we really had a quadruple and not only an over-furnitured double. There were room enoughfor all of us and the room was not crowded. Both our room and the rest of the hotel were beautiful furnitured, the staff was very friendly and there were no problems getting to and from the city centre. And to get down to get a glass of vine (and a chess-match for the kids) before dinner was really nice!

If you want to visit Florence, this is the place to stay. It is a 5-minute walk from the city center and located near several restaurants. Great value and also a very nice place. Recently remodeled and excellent service. Free parking is a plus as well as free wireless internet. The photos don't do this place justice. Highly recommend.

The hotel is located a little off the beaten path, but well within walking distance of the major sites. The bus system is odd in that all of the stops are not listed, so it makes it difficult to take the bus from the train station to the David. First rate service, huge rooms, and low prices made the David a bargain amongst all the hotels we stayed in.

This was an amazing hotel! Our stay was wonderful...the rooms were big and bright and extreemly clean. We loved it and plan on coming back! We walked all over Florence from our hotel. Hotel David was a real bright spot in our two-week trip to Italy. It's in a lovely building with a welcoming reception and lounge. We had a variety of rooms, including doubles and a quad, and they were all unique and spacious. Though the hotel is situated at a rather busy crossroads for those entering and leaving Florence by car, the rooms were very quiet and there was no traffic noise. The room air conditioning was super. The breakfast room was sunny and well supplied with a nice variety of breakfast choices. One day when our children "slept in", the breakfast room attendant noted that they weren't up yet and offered to make plates for them to enjoy in their room. The David's only drawback is also an asset. It's location is a bit of a walk from the major attractions. Our family is one of walkers but during our visit the weather was incredibly hot (late June), which made the walk a bit less enjoyable. But on the other hand, it was great to be removed from the crowds and noise of the city center. There are several busses that stop next to the hotel or very nearby and serve central Florence. There is also a taxi stand just outside the front gate and taxi service in town isn't terribly expensive. The reception attendants are happy to call you a cab if there's not one parked outside. They also made some terrific recommendations for restaurants. We loved the Hotel David and recommend it highly.

The Hotel David is outstanding for the price. The rooms were spacious well-maintained and clean. The common areas were spacious and comfortable with a good range of interesting publications and the bonus of free drinks and canapes in the evening. The breakfast was of good quality and substantial. The staff were friendly, well-informed and helpful. I would highly recommend Hotel David.

The staff at Hotel David were terrific! They helped us numerous times and did so with a smile. While the rooms was relatively small, the common areas were nice and accessible. Parking is provided which was a bonus. Unfortunately, the location does not offer many ammenities including places to eat. It was also a bus ride or a long walk into the city.

This was a great hotel in a quiet part of town. It was a little bit away from all the highlights of Florence but that became a plus at the end of the day when we'd had enough of tourism. The hotel was adjacent to several bus lines and getting around to all the major attractions was no problem. The hotel itself is very nicely decorated inside and out and the service was superb.

Friendly and efficient. The habit of offering aperetifs in the the guests' lounge early evening was very civilsed, as was the garden. Easy use of email/internet included in price. Breakfast room pleasant and good choice. The road outside made the balcony noisy, and might have intruded unto the room had we opened the windows in warmer weather, but there was no people noise (quiet guests and no public outside, as there might have been in the centre) so we tuned it out easily enough. Ideal position - a 15 minute walk alonmg the river to Ponte Vecchio - so. Decor new and showed a quiet sense of humour. All in all, it and made our stay and we would certainly use it again.

We were very impressed with the David Hotel. The staff was wonderful, the rooms were spacious and comfortable. We felt "at home", it isn't your typical hotel, this was much more like a very large house. The breakfast was more than adequate and we especially enjoyed the evening wine and treats. A very accomodating hotel, we would definitely stay there again.

We stayed in a double room with private bathroom. The room was very spacious with a private balcony and very clean. This hotel is located on the other side of the Arno river, about 20-25 minutes walk to the major attractions in Florence but the bus stops right in front of the hotel and it was extremely easy and convenient getting around. This is not a touristy area of town so if you are looking to get away from the crowds, this is the place for you. There are some very good restaurants in the area as well. The breakfast was adequate. The happy hour in the evenings with wine and snacks is an added bonus, as is the complementary internet access. Overall, a great stay. I would definitely return.

Our family of four recently stayed at the Hotel David in Firenze and we can not begin to thank everyone there enough! From the owner to the concierges to the maids to the breakfast hostesses everyone went above and beyond their duties. They answered all of our questions-and there were many! They gave us a list of wonderful ristorantes and trattorias. We will always be greatful to you for sending us to GiGi's Trattoria!! We had two of our most memorable and tasty meals of our trip there We love you GiGi's!!! The hotel is without a doubt-BEAUTIFUL!!!!! The room was spacious and the bathroom was gorgeous. The breakfast room was lovely and the food was good-especially the cappucini and hot chocolate!!!! The hotel is defintely more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel. Elegantly furnished with antiques and books an a gorgeous parlor. And the wine and juice and nibbles at 6:30 in the evening before we went to dinner was so relaxing.EVERYTHING was wonderful and we would not stay anywhere else in Florence if we are lucky enough to go back. Also, the location is wonderful to get a broader picture of Florence as there is more to the city than just the center. We walked from morning to evening and we are in our 50's( and not used to walking!). We would like to thank all of you and miss you and your bellisima city tremendously!! Readers, please try this hotel - you will be amazed. Thank you Hotel David and Gigi's !!!!!!
