The hotel is situated really within 50 m from the Dome, just in the street between Dome and Galerea Ufizzi. So it is a little noisy at the evening. The room is renovated, everything works. But: breakfast is nothing to eat, TV sound is limited (I could hardly hear news sitting just 0,5 m before TV), a/c also is locked for the key, WiFi password is given for 1 hour and is nessesary to ask every time before using.

Had a double with private bath. Great location and clean room. Bed was as expected, typical European hotel, not very comfortable. Glad I brought my Tempurpedic pillow! As many hotels in area are reviewed, you will hear church bells and possibly noise from street. Also, as with many hotels in this category, the building is not exclusively dedicated to the hotel; there are also private apartments from which you could hear noise. I always bring earplugs. Small lift was functional, several flights of stairs otherwise, on 1st or 2nd floor(can't remember). Stay was two nights, manager allowed luggage to be left in common area after checkout since we had a later train. Would stay again for similar length of time, if bed was more comfortable, would stay longer!

I am an american and currently living in north eastern Italy. I was traveling with my husband, 2 kids(12 & 2) and some friends(2 adults &1 kid) of ours. This hotel is absolutely wonderful!! The lady that was working when we checked in was extremely helpful. Her English was limited, but with the Italian I knew and the English she new, we checked into our room with no problems. The breakfast was your typical Italian breakfast, a few pastries, rolls, jellies, cheese, cold cereal, juice, milk and of course a coffee, cappuccino, latte, etc. I never was worried about leaving out belongings in the room. The hotel was in a safe location also. The position of this hotel is wonderful, step outside the door, look to your left and there's the Duomo. A short walk to the right and you are in the Piazza Della Sugnoria, walk alittle further past the Uffuzi and you are at the Ponte Vecchio bridge. I can not say enough about this place. We will definitely stay here again. I little note to Americans traveling to Europe, don't expect huge hotel rooms here because you won't find them unless you are prepared to shell out alot of money. Europe is small compared to the states and most of the hotels here are very old buildings converted into hotels, how much time do you plan on spending in your room anyway right? I thought for the price this place was perfect.

A great value for your money. The hotel is less than 45 seconds from the Duomo and less than a 10 minute walk from all of the galleries, museums, cenacolo and churches. I will return here again.

Excellent choice for the situation in the city, but there was no climatisation at all, the room was terribly hot, so we had to keep all the windows open....and to try sleeping with a lot of noise (almost all the night !). Of course, the prices were the same ...

The first room was small so they moved us to a larger one which wasn't huge but was more than adequate (2 BEDS). The manager was extremely helpful in a great many way, from making restaurant reservations for us, calling taxis, and giving us frequent wifi internet access at no charge. He was helpful with advice and generous as were the other employees. It is a simple hotel but great location and very nice people!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights. Pros: The room was surprisingly more spacious and clean for a 2 star hotel, and the location right by the Duomo can't be beat! Cons: the overall service was so poor - I don't think he smiled once. You had to ask for air conditioning to be turned on. We left our luggage there for the day and went sightseeing with a late train departure time and he seemed to hurry us up when we sat and relaxed in the empty common area. I would not return here, nor would I recommend it to my friends.

Location was excellent in a very nice part of florence, just meters away from duomo, short distance from other attractions. Staff not generally that friendly. breakfast was poor, food not fresh, was topped up once right at the end so you would either have to get up for breakfast really early or go in late, and with very few places to sit got quite crowded, staff didn't clean tables till breakfast had finished. Night's could get noisy... all in all, it's a good place to be if you are only staying for a couple of nights

Situated within easy walking distance from the train station and very close to the Duomo, so an excellent central location. The hotel is situated on the 2nd floor of an old building. An ancient-looking lift is available, however, my friend and I were afraid to use it. We asked the hotel receptionist (and owner) to assist with the cases, which he did albeit reluctantly. It wasn't a warm welcome to the hotel. The room was bigger than we expected for central Florence and had air conditioning, comfortable beds, crisp white cotton sheets and fluffy white towels in the bathroom. Breakfast was basic to say the least .. hot drinks from a machine, yoghurts and stale bread rolls which we had spotted left uncovered in the breakfast room at lunchtime the previous day. No fresh fruit or pastries. The hotel owner became friendly when we paid the bill ... he needs coaching in good customer service. Apart from feeling unwelcome and the less than basic breakfast, the hotel was adequate.

The Hotel is very simple itself. Don't expect too much, but it has what you need in Florence location is great. No one comes to stay in the Hotel and specially in Florence if u are looking for comodity don't stay here but if need location this is the perfect place. Is right in front of the Duomo. A 5 min walk to Palazzo Vecchio and also Ponte Vecchio, and Galleri degli Uffizi. There are good restaurants close to the hotel. The people that run the hotel are very nice and try to be helpfull. They just dont speak English or Spanish at all only Italian but is not hard to comunicate with them. Very nice people Price is very Cheap for the good location they offer.

We stayed at the COSTANTINI 3 nights and we're very pleased with personal/staff and service provided:not only information, but also some extras where kindly offered which was appreciated very much.Internet/computer provided in the hall OK(up to 30 min.free-they supply you w user name password at the reception). Situated in the very heart of Florence,in just within 1 min.walk to the Duomo and very short distances to the most desirable sights of the city.Breakfast was OK.We would stay at this hotel again:it has 2 stars, but still good relationship btw price and quality:we've got better than expected.

This was our first experience. In terms of location i think that is the biggest selling point of this hotel. Compared to hotels in Rome this hotel had a slightly more spacious room and since we got a corner room the bathroom was a generous size. I was not entirely pleased with the manager of the hotel. Getting the passcode to the wireless was always a tussle and he for some reason responded very very hesitantly on all questions including check out when we wanted to check out early like at 7 am. Other than that the breakfast bar was definitely a lot better than what we got in Rome and the best part was the location right across from the Duomo. Nothing can beat that. Which consequently makes it more noisy. I woke up oftentimes around 1am to street noise but we took it in the spirit of our travels so i won't complain much. Rooms are very clean and appear well maintained. Beds got made every day which we did not get in Rome. The beds were a little too soft and my husband has a bad back so he had issues but on the whole we would go back there again. Best part is no lugging suitcases up stairs the entire hotel is on one floor it seems. And no split levels so elevators are close to the main doors on each level.

This was my second stay at this location. They are on the 2nd level of this building and there is another hotel (Aldini) on the 3rd floor. The location is exceptional to explore the city by foot; next door to the Duomo, a few steps (300m) to Palazzo & Piazza della Signoria, 70m to Piazza della Repubblica, 280m to Ponte Vecchio, 700m to the main train station. I walked everywhere & strongly suggest the 4-wheel suitcase models! The infrastructure (no frills elevator, big room, private bath, shutters, breakfast) of the hotel remains the same as 4-5 years ago. However, the customer service has taken a huge dive in the wrong direction. Although I expected that most of the staff speak limited English, I was surprised to experience the night/weekend manager to only speak it during checkout time & when talking about possible additional charges. Next time, I will book a different hotel, mostly based of my experience during checkout.

This is not the place to stay in very hot weather. Their air conditioning is rationed and very ineffective until 2 AM when it finally makes the room cool enough to get to sleep. The location is perfect, 50 feet from the square. Staff is OK but hard to communicate with and a bit on the unfriendly side. But the cost of the place for the money paid makes it a good value. It is close to everything.

Our group of 4 (all women)stayed for 2 nights in this lovely hotel just off the piazza near the Duomo. We stayed in a room with 4 single beds and breakfast was included. The location was fantastic! We were right next to the piazza outside the Duomo and along the main pedestrian shopping street. The only drawback was lack of air conditioning, but we knew that ahead of time. Fortunately it was not too hot during our stay. There is noise late in the evening from revellers in the square and then early in the morning the delivery vans and street sweepers start up. With the windows closed that noise is eliminated. And the bells from "Giotto's" bell tower start ringing at 7 a.m. Overall I would rate it as an excellent and safe place to stay.

Good position in centre of Florence. Very noisy especially 1st night when badly behaved students were running up and down the corridor at 2.30 in the morning. I thought the price we paid was too high considering it was the same as we paid for a quiet 4* hotel in Venice. I wish we had asked for a reduction especially as we had such a disturbed night on our first night. It would have been nice to have had fresh bread rolls for breakfast and if you ate after the students there was very little left!

The hotel is directly in the centre of town. It being in the pedestrian district made it very assessible to all the sights in town. The room is very clean and spacious enough. But you can hear all the noise both in the innercourt as well as the traffic outside. Breakfast was very simple. For a 2 star hotel, the price I paid for was a bit too much. There is another hotel upstairs where you pay less and get more though.

When they see the used bath towels are soaking wet and the air is humid so nothing dries in 24 hours, it would be a kindness to provide dry towels for use the next day instead of folding them up in three layers to fit on the towel rack. It was not pleasant trying to dry ourselves with a very wet towel.

Loved the price and location. The owner was very nice and helpful. Would return here in a heartbeat. The breakfast was so-so. The OJ was watered down but found this to be true at other places too. All the floors are tile so it was a little noisy when people were in the hallway. The campanile was very close and would toll at 7AM which made the stay more enjoyable.

The best part about this place is that its in the heart of Florence. You can actually see Duomo up close just as shown in the pics. Though it depends on the room you are staying in. The first one we got, which has smoke smell, had a good view but the second one didnt have any. They were very nice and changed our room due to the smoke smell. But there was no gracious welcoming and telling us about Florence or how to get to the attractions. If asked, they definitely assisted. The room was clean but the bath-tub didnt have any shower curtain which was a pain. The breakfast was average. There was cereal, bread, croissants etc but they were all old...not made on the same day. There were no fruits or eggs. You have internet service in the common area which is free for all. We had some difficulty in finding this place as there were no directions given other than its close to Duomo. We spent some time in searching for this place. Its in the heart of all the shopping area and Accademia and Uffizi are at a walkable distance. There are some very good restaurants nearby and you can spend your evening listening to budding artists near Palazzo Vecchio.

I was not able to book a single room on the website, as it was not an option. When I checked in, the older of the two men who worked at the reception, tried to find me a single room to save me money. He was very helpful and very nice, but could not find me a single. The room was not very attractive, but it was clean and comfortable enough. The breakfast was not very good. I guess Florence is just very expensive, and you don't always get what you pay for.

We were given room 111 which smelt like an open sewer emanating from our toilet. there was some dodgy masking tape previous stuck on the floor over a drain presumably in an attempt to reduce the foul odour. when we approached the reception, the man said there was nothing he could do because his boss was home but that we should try again in the morning. the next day we approached the reception again and reported our concerns and another man (presumably the owner) told us that there was nothing they could do. and initially, after some firm negotiations, the man just turned around and walked away! surprisingly, he later called our room and told us that a new room was available. this room (room 126), which did not even have a number on the door(?) and had a cracked mirror in the toilet, was better in that at least it did not smell as bad. on check out, when we inquired about room 126, the man reluctantly old us that no one usually sleeps in room 126 but that it just gets locked up (spooky!). the only truly good thing about this hotel is the location. i would not be returning to this hotel anytime soon. not very romantic.

Reading other reviews made me a little worried as to how I would find this hotel. It was excellent. I loved the fact that I was lodging in the shadow of the Duomo, and the noise that other people complain of, was the peal of the bells, and the chatter of happy people. I look forward to a return visit to the Costantini.

As written before. It´s all about location!! We had a wonderful view from our window overlooking parts of the Duomo. Knowing that you will realize that earplugs are necessary if you are a ligthsleeper. The windows don´t manage to shut the noise out. And noise it is practically all nigtht. But who cares, you´re not in the center of a city expecting quitness! There are rooms not facing the busy street Via Calzaioli, ask for those if it is a big deal for yor. Breakfast is adequate but nothing exciting. Staff is helpful in a quite manner. They don´t have a luggageroom but let us leave our bags in the receptionarea during the day of our late departure. What you get at Constantini is a small but very clean room with fantastic location. Not at all hard to find. Hotel Constantini and Aldini have the same entrance and you take a small elevator to reach the receptionarea. Don´t look for the reception at groundfloor level. If ever coming back to Florence I won´t bother surch for another hotel

The hotel is situated in a great place, just a few steps from the Duomo and within easy walk of the train station, even with luggage. There was so much to see and do within walking distance, and being right next to such a major landmark makes it a lot harder to get lost while walking around the city. Location, location, location is what makes this hotel great for the money. The room was adequately sized, had a small refrigerator, and was very clean. The bathroom was bigger than many in Italy and while it was shower only (no tub) it did not feel cramped in the slightest. Breakfast is very simple and there is not much selection, but it is plentiful and everything is tasty except the coffee, which is horrible. Really horrible. The only downside to the hotel is, as other reviewers have said, the noise. You can hear the revelers on the street, street musicians, etc. very clearly. Neither of us had any trouble sleeping, but if you are noise sensitive you may have to look elsewhere. That, and the coffee is horrid.

The biggest problem was finding the hotel because it was on the second floor and the building only had a sign that said Hotel, and not the name of the hotel. The breakfast was minimal, but the location was great. All of the rooms in the hotel are on one floor and only two rooms have views of the duomo, but we managed to get one of them. All other aspects of the hotel were fine.

This is the second time I have stayed at the "Hotel Costantini," which is all about location, location, location. From my room, I could see the tip of the cupola of Santa Maria del Fiore! This is not a luxury accomodation by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a nice place to get a good night's sleep after a long day of walking around Florence. The receptionist can be a little grumpy but all in all is very helpful and understanding. The Costantini certainly is charming in its very own way, but one must know that it is the location one is paying for (not that that's not worth it).

Constanini was wonderful. I traveled to Florence with my sister, both of us in our early thirties, for five days during the third week in July. We had a wonderful stay and were VERY pleased with everything about the hotel. (We have been known to prefer hostels to hotels...) Constantini is clean, quiet and meets the basic needs of travelers who are more concerned with what they are visiting then where they are sleeping. Constantini is for the no frills, low maintenance traveler. The gentlemen at the front desk were very nice and helpful when we needed them to be. Breakfast was decent with coffee, juice, cereal, yogurt, and bread items. The bathrooom was basic, the towels were fluffy, the beds were firm, and the ac was on when it was needed. I cannot say how pleased we were with the location. Looking out our window to the left was the Duomo...we were able to walk to everything in Florence and the area felt very safe. If you plan on sleeping with the windows open,if it is cooler than 75, bring your ear plugs because people are outside the Duomo all hours of the night.

The hotel was pretty good, by Florence standards. Things not exactly as advertised: the AC definitely did not cool the room. The light near the bed didn't work. And despite the fact that it was labeled "no smoking" the room definitely smelled of cigarettes. But sheets and towels were crisp and bed comfy. and I felt very safe there.

I was amazed by how close the hotel is to all the interesting things in Florence, both at day and at night. The staff was very friendly, and the breakfast was more generous than the 2 stars hotel in Rome in which I was a weak before. The street was not always quiet, but when I closed the window it was fine. I'll surely go to this hotel next time I'm in Florence.

The location of this hotel couldn't be better. It's located right by the Duomo and sits on a cute street for shopping. I requested a double room for me and my husband but was given a room with three single beds-not exactly romantic! The hotel room had the feeling of a convent: no pictures on the wall, no fancy furnishings, no rugs. So if it's location you want, go for it. If you want a comfortable place to hang out, I'd suggest trying somewhere else.

Incredible location. Very friendly staff. Clean rooms and great daily room cleaning service. I would definitley stay at this hotel again. Insider tips: MICHAEL ANGELO PLAZA You MUST see this city while looking down from a high vantage point. Visit the Michael Angelo plaza and sit on the steps and enjoy one of the most breath-taking views you will ever see while looking down over this entire city. Grab a quick sandwhich from the street vendor at the plaza and have an pic-nic on the steps. CITY TOUR BUS The Hop-On/Hop-Off tour bus is the best way to get to know the city in a short 1-2 hour window. If you are not sure how many of the world class sight-seeing destinations that you want to see or if you are trying to decide how many locations you should cross off your list then take this bus tour on your first day of arrival. In a very short timespan you will get to know the city and it will help you to decide which locations you absolutley can't miss. This buss will take you to a sight you may not have been aware of in visiting a town name Fiosole that sites above Florence. It is an incredible visit even if only by roaming tour bus. It is a pleasant surprise that nobody told us about. It's a must-see as far as I am concerned. Also, this Hop-on/Hop-off tour bus ticket is good for 24-hours and you can use this as your main mode of transportation if you wish.

We arrived on foot from the train station, which was considerably father than the 300 meters written on the hotel confirmation. The hotels sits on a pedestrian street steps away from the Duomo in what the web site calls a "beautiful Renaissance building". It may be old, but hardly beautiful. The shabby small entrance led to an equally shabby elevator to the hotel on the second floor. But things got better. Check in was in a tiny reception area by Ivo, a helpful gentleman, who continued to be helpful throughout our stay. As he walked us to our room through a non air conditioned hall, we passed through the lobby, a tiny space furnished with a computer, a wooden park bench, some un-upholstered chairs and a tattered upholstered chair; not a great first impression nor a place to hang out. Ivo opened the door to our room (109, possibly the largest) and we were very, very impressed! The room was huge, very clean. Furniture was basic (not the "antique furniture" listed on the site): 3 beds, wardrobe, desk and two desk chairs and two night tables. More drawer storage, upholstered chairs, and some color on the walls could have turned the room from basic into spectacular. The large windows had soundproof layers, which we usually kept closed because of the heat. Our room, which faced away from the main street, was quiet. Air conditioning was good. Bathroom was a good size. Towels were good size and quality. It took time for hot water to turn hot and the shower surround leaked a bit. Once hot, the shower was strong and hot water plentiful. Bed pillows were dreadful but a non-issue because we slept well after long days out. We had only coffee in the breakfast room. Because of its proximity to all major sites and shopping, the helpfulness of the staff, and the size of our particular room we were happy calling this hotel our home for our six days in Florence. We recommend it for budget travelers.

For a two star it is rather good. At least better than we expected. The most important thing is cleanliness and all the sheets and the towels were new and the room was clean. If you don't expect much it is very good. The place of the hotel is excellent.

Excellent location, but just a bit hard to find, given that the only sign for the place is on the gate and actually several metres in the door, back from the main road.

Unexpectedly good positioned hotel. Might be a problem with car travelers, but once settled in, your car left in near by garage - you find everything amazingly near and easy to reach. The only "problem" was poor wireless Internet signal in the rooms. The real disappointment might be a room without a view - looking into inner part of the building, so check what kind of room is reserved. Excellent choice of fast dining restaurants and gellateria's, specially "Gellato Festival" with the best tiramisu in the world

Our room in the front, on the street, for a party of 2 adults and two kids, was very loud long into the night -- but then it is truly a half block to the Duomo. Hotel was pretty, um, basic. They gave twin beds to my wife and I, and a slouchy cot as the 4th bed in the room.

The location just two steps from the Piazza del Duomo is wonderful: At Hotel Costatini you are right in the heart of Florence. The room was very clean and also spacy - and the little noise you hear from the streets at night was not too disturbing. The breakfast was simple but sufficient. It was a great stay.

The location of the Costantini is fantastic, right near the Duomo. The day staff is helpful. The room had an acrid odor stemming from the heating ventilation, I think, and it gave me a headache. The pillows need to be updated and we did get a better pillow after requesting one. The location is excellent and the free internet access is great.

I loved the situation of the hotel, 50 yards from the Duomo. The bells were gentle at 7.00am and it was a good way to wake up! The showers were excellent. The staff were helpful. Breakfast was basic. It was a superb location both easy to walk to the main sites and close to many reasonably priced but enjoyable restaurants. I have no hesitation in recommending the hotel.

An excellent location, almost on the door step to the duomo. Good value for money because of the location. Rooms functional and basic but clean and tidy. Breakfast not that exciting but adequate. We booking two rooms for seven persons. The localization is excellent next to Duomo and Piazza Signoria and from 10 minutes to train station. Besides ,the hotel is located in the mainly shopping area de Firenze. The only problem is our room ( 102 ): we didn't get heatting to make it confortable temperature. If I'll come back Firenze I'd like to stay in Constantine Hotel again.

We visited in October 07 and stayed for four nights as we wanted time to soak up Florence without rushing. We chose Costantini based on the right price and availability of a double room and a twin for our two children (14 & 11). It also looked well placed and had good reviews. We were well pleased with it. As other comments point out the location is outstanding. Couldn't be more convenient for the Duomo and we loved coming down the stairs around the lift (it's on the second floor) walking out of the door and being in the centre of everything. Friendly staff and a good breakfast went down well. We arrived by train from the UK early in the morning and were able to leave our bags in the lobby while we explored. It's interesting how they've fitted the modern rooms and en suite bathrooms into the larger old rooms by running the corridor down the side of the rooms. Sound weird but it's fine and they've kept the large painted ceilings of the whole room.

The hotel is in a good location because it is a few meters away from the Duomo. And a good walk from the Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, etc...and the train station. Very convenient as there are nearby eating and shopping areas. Breakfast is inclusive with the package we availed off, but not much option. Room size is average and there's no television.

Our stay at this hotel was very disappointing as we were ignored when we first arrived as the man on the reception was too busy with his computer to even acknowledge our presence for a good 5 minutes after we arrived. He neglected to tell us that we had to leave the key behind when we went out the next day and we returned to find the room not cleaned and no clean towels, just the dirty ones where we left them. Would not recommend this hotel as it was very basic with the most uncomfortable beds I have even slept in, our room was on the small side as we had lost a large portion of our room to the hotel linen closet. The only good point was the location as it was a stones throw from the Duomo.

The manager is just a peach: a nice, quiet guy, very helpful with astute restaurant recommendations. Hotel is the third floor of a big building, unpretentious interior but CLEAN and kind of elegant in a simple way. Breakfast was satisfactory to our American taste (which is saying something for an Italian hotel). Great location for Florence. Loved our stay here.

I was very happy with the service at Hotel Costantini. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. My Italian is not very good but we conversed and he was very patient. There were quite a few snack bars nearby and I found one restaurant nearby that I had dinner at that was quite good. I don't recall the name of it, but if you walk around the duomo you'll probably spot it. On the first floor you can eat outside or inside and there is also seating on an inside balcony.

The location of this hotel couldn't be better. Our room overlooked the Duomo and Campanile. The double glazing helped but couldn't block out the inevitable hub-bub and sirens that seems to be amplified by the tall buildings but I've encountered much worse. I thought the hotel was excellent value for money. Breakfast was fine. It's on the second floor and lift wasn't working when we arrived and broke a couple of times. Fortunately we didn't have much luggage. Only met 2 members of staff. Afternoon/evening man always smiling. Morning man polite, quiet but got very chatty when we were checking out. Perfectly walkable from station if able bodied. We'd definitely stay here again.

This hotel is a great find! It is just a few doors off of the Duomo and on the pedestrian street where everyone walks in the evenings. The hotel is on floor 2 (which is really floor 3 in the U.S.) but there is an elevator which only broke down once while we were there for the week. Room 112 was very spacious and extremely clean, a bit sparten (no pictures on the walls) but who cares about that. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom even had a bidet, and there was a small refrigerator too. We were on the inside (not street side) so we didn't here much street noise even though we had our windows wide open all of the time. The only downside was the Duomo church bells started ringing at 6:15 every morning. I actually started enjoying them and they would lull me back to sleep. It was very nice to also have a computer available 24/7 with internet access. The staff was very friendly and helped us with directions, taxi, wake-up calls, etc. Breakfast was okay, simply bread, jams, yogurt, one cereal, coffee, tea, and orange juice. I would stay here again and I would highly recommend this hotel.

An outstanding place to stay! Central, just down from the Duomo, minutes from Piazza della Signoria, San Lorenzo, and about 15 minutes walk from the train station. Despite this, it was quiet at night. You do get awoken at 7 am, but it is by the bells from the Duomo's bell tower. Our room had a painted ceiling, just like being in a museum! Breakfast wasaverage by Italian hotel standards. There was internet available and apparently no charge. All this for 120 euros/night...excellent value for the location.

Loved this stay. In the heart of walking Florence the location was a block from the Duomo, fabulous. The day manager was wonderful, he made us so welcome and catered to all the clients at breakfast. He treated you as a family member. I was so impressed. We loved the spacious room and although it got alittle noisy around 1 or 2 am due to the location it wasn'r enough to keep you awake. It was one of the best places we stayed in Italy, and the staff was so accomdating. 24 hour srvice and intenet acess if you didn;thave your laptop with you. Lots of things to do and lots of tours to take if you hadn't planned ahead before coming to Florence. We had made plans ahead for tours. Incredible location for shopping also. Florence in this area is for walking, no cars just taxis here and there in this area. We loved it and would highly recommend you stay here. Absolutely stay here.

We were a bit put-off by the outside appearance (looked like a run-down apartment) and small lift to 2nd floor, but it improved as we reached our room. The hotel is in a terrific position (20 paces from the Duomo). Double-glazing and air-conditioning made it sound-proof. Breakfast was very simple ("continental+") but adequate and promptly served by the Manager (?)whose English was limited. The friendly night staff (we met 2) had no English at all - but we managed. Would suggest a shower curtain in bathroom to stop water spreading: though it didn't seem to spread. Would also have liked some hooks or place to hang (pyjamas?) when showering. Greatly appreciated the free use of internet.

Great location! You are right in the heart of Florence. The front desk clerks were fantastic. A little challenging to find the hotel on the busy street. Look for the white or green "Hotel" sign above the door. The Giotto Bell tower bells were a great alarm clock at 7:00am.
